chainsaws, and get new and stuff like that, so no if you have any information on who this might be, please call police. a grand jury will decide whether an area officer faces charges after shooting a man during a traffic stop. the shooting happened in cedar rapids. jeremy mitchell during a traffic stop - mitchell, still alive but is paralyzed from the shoulders down. the linn county attorney ruling a grand jury will determine if officer jones should face charges in the shooting. that grand jury will be made up of seven random members of the community. an area man is in custody after he's accused of a stabbing. 49-year-old bruce hanson is facing felony and misdemeanor charges connected to the alleged

along old stage road near the town of freeport -- in wineshiek county. officers responded to a disturbance call around eight-40 thursday night -- when they determined the stabbing assault occurred. a dubuque man is arrested, accused of punching the mother of his child through a window. 35-year-old gus lewis, jr. faces charges of burglary, child endangerment, and public intoxication. according to our coverage partners at the telegraph herald, the woman tried to nail the window shut, but allegedly hit the woman in the face, and took off. their two-year- old was in the room at the time of the alleged assault. the linn county board of supervisors welcoming in the first black member this week-- stacey walker--was born and raised in cedar rapids-- he was sworn in on thursday--in front of a room full of supporters-- getting emotional--hugging a longtime mentor and friend-- walker spent his childhood in the oakhill jackson neighborhood. a few things to think about as the threat of snow appraoches. check everything under your car hood--including the battery and fluids always check tire air pressure and the tread level tips a mechanic says are very important. "just make sure things are alright before you leave, make sure your windows are cleared off make sure you have the snow cleared off the top of your car out for yourself" it's also important to have cables in your car. just in case you get stuck. before you know it....snow will be here. you can see it's already blanketing some parts of minnesota. storms there contributing to about six dozen crashes according to police. plows were out on the roads in minnesota -- but couldn't keep up with the fast- falling snow. it's coming up on today

a shooting in chicago kills the grandson of a u-s congressman. police say the 14 year old grandson of danny davis, died after he was shot in his home last night. police say a group of men forced their way into the teen's home, pulled out a gun and shot wilson in the head. they believe the incident may have involved a fight over gym shoes. a toddler is recovering after a daycare worker apparently tries to hang him. minneapolis police say a parent able to rescue the 16- month old boy. police say the daycare worker then took off in a van, ran over someone walking, hit a person on a bike and then threatened to jump off an overpass. there's no word on the motive behind any of her actions. the people hit by the car are both expected to be ok, as well as the toddler. baltimore police are looking for a man who allegedly killed four puppies. an arrest warrant was issued for

earlier this month on a report police that they saw yearwood kill four puppies in the home. "he then picked up the puppies and threw them down a flight of we want them to do, they immediately left the location, they went to a safe area, they animal abuse investigators say the investigation into the puppies' deaths stretches back to october. four people are dead after a plane crashes to h nevada. the plane was carrying a heart patient and three crew members to the university of utah. this is cell phone video after the crash. the impact caused multiple explosions. caught on camera -- a car smashes into a restaurant on friday morning. surveillance video shows the car barrel through the front windows of the restaurant, about 15 miles south of portland. owners say the restaurant was closed at the time of the crash

the students at a high school in texas were told to prepare a short skit as part of a lesson. they turned the script in to the teacher... and she approved it. but a spokesman for the district "the teacher was as surprised as anyone else in the room seeing this for the first time. and when she did, she took the appropriate action. she stopped the boys... she explained to them that was not appropriate." the district spokesman says they've decided nothing more needs one accident out west seems more like a giant bubble bath. police say a large amount of foam spilled outside a business in california. they say the building's fire system malfunctioned... spewing the foam throughout and around the business. police say there was no fire and the foam is not dangerous. "the largest bubble bath ever. i really thought it was some kind of detergent that had spilled and overflowed, but this is incredible." no injuries were reported and

specifically in sioux city this tree branch falling onto a roof because of the snow...causing it to cave in under the weight everyone is okay tonight, however. area ski resorts are hoping for even more colder weather. the sundown mountain resort in dubuque will be ma but that doesn't mean they'll be open just yet for sking. you might remember -- last year they had to push back they're opening nearly one month. this year, managers are hoping it'll be sooner. "to be able to put down a base of snow we need 28-degrees at managers say they need at least three consecutive days of colder weather before they can open.

"alexa, what are your deals?" the current deals last through monday. hundreds of workers at o-hare international airport in chicago are threatening to strike during thanksgiving week..one of the busiest times to travel. airport employees including baggage handlers, cabin cleaners, wheelchair attendants and janitors--have been fighting for a wage increase and union rights. the chicago department of aviation responded to the ste disruption." it is not yet clear how such a strike could affect operations at o- hare, one of the nations busiest airports. researchers in texas are developing an app that would help veterans suffering from p-t-s-d. the app would monitor a veteran's heart rate and alert him if a p-t-s-d attack is coming. the technology could also walk him or her through breathing exercises or connect them to a help line. "it intervenes by asking a question: 'how do you feel?'

chicago is already in the holiday spirit. the city's official christmas tree was lit up for the first time in millennium park last night. a 69-foot norway spruce is this year's chosen one. the tree has more than 48-thousand multi-colored lights course, it's topped with a star. the holiday season kicking off at macy's on 34-th street in new york. the famous holiday windows were unveiled outside the department store last night. this year's theme for the six windows is "believing the magic." the first window has santa in a communication center where he receives christmas wishes from children all around the world. some of the windows are interactive too! the store estimates about 15-thousand people walk by the
