without the possibility of parole. prosecutors say he attacked his girlfriend back in march for moving out of his parents' home. court documents indicate he wouldn't let her leave -- so he punched and kicked her. also -- using a machete and ash- tray to beat her. poland's mother got in the the hospital. police charge an indiana contractor-- accusing him of defraunding an iowa woman. 21-year old shawn bol-duc junior is accused of pressuring an elderly woman to give him several checks totalling nearly 50-grand for home repairs. police are looking for two other men connected to the crime. president-elect donald trump filling dozens of positions for his upcoming administration. he met with potential candidates all weekeend at his golf course in new jersey. today he met with mitt romney during the campaign romney was an outspoken critic -- calling trump a con man and a fraud.

a few reports indicated today's meeting was about discussing the secretary of state position. several more meetings are schedule for tomorrow -- with new jersey governor chris christie and former new york city mayor -- rudy giuliani. state republicans taking control of the house and senate. house district sixty representative walt rogers says he's never been in the minority before. and he's hopeful democrats and republicans can work together. rogers says he wants to tell iowans he's focussed on clean wa transparent -- adding president- elect donald trump has the "expectations are pretty high but in some sense some poeples expactations are pretty low, so i think the biggest thing donald trump brings is change" rogers says he thinks people will be looking to see if change happens after the beginning of the year. some loras college students

the use of plastic carry-out bags -- citing it's bad for the environment. kwwl's shirley descorbeth reports. some loras college students want the city of the kind used at grocery stores. "so the plastic bags get into waterways, animals consume them which generally causes death because they can't consume food after that." they say ia completely banning plastic bags, to charging a fee for using them." the fee... "somewhere between five and ten cents, we're gonna leave fee would only apply to larger however in the past, this idea not recieved too well. "the ban wasn't met with a lot of praise from a lot of they'll still have the option to take plastic bags, that people
