from the kwwl stormtrack 7 weather team. see the screen for your complete weather information. here is additional forecast information from the kwwl stormtrack 7 weather team: this afternoon and a good portion of this evening will continue to be mild. winds stay light through the day monday as we warm to the upper 30s and low 40s. however, changes are coming to our weather pattern. clouds will begin to increase this afternoon to mostly cloudy by tonight. a storm system to our south west is tracking closer to eastern iowa through the day today. the wind is howling and the snow is falling in other parts of the country. this video is out of rochester, new york where the snow fell overnight at a rate of one to an hour. tough to see on the road. because of that, the sheriff's office asked people to stay off the road. flights were also delayed or cancelled.

season. that's exactly what happened in minnesota -- where the conditions were awful in parts of the state on friday and saturday. they had 450 crashes -- including two that were deadly on friday. a trooper was also hurt on saturday when a car hit his squad car as the trooper was trying to help someone else. new at noon: a man is in jail after he drives his car into a waterloo home. police say the car hit a house on prospect avenue shortly before five on saturday. then drove away and parked at an address not far from the scene for evaluation and is now in black haw county jail... he's being charged with an o- w-i. police are investigating after a man is stabbed numerous times early this morning. it happened at a home on white street in dubuque. when police got there -- they heard arguing and threats being made-- when they went into the home -- they say a man was restraining a woman by holding her arms. vanessa tillman- johnson had a

in the other. police say she stabbed matthew johnson several times. he was taken to the hospital for non- life threatening injuries. the woman is facing charges. continuing coverage police in san antonio are searching for a man that killed an officer. a veteran detective was ambushed and gunned down while writing a traffic ticket. jacob rascon is in san antonio with the latest. this morning an all out the cold-blooded shooting just yards from police headquarters. marconi was writing a traffic ticket. nat:(police radio) "i got an officer down in front actively searching for this man, who they are calling a person of interest in connection with the shooting -- and this black mitsubishi nat:(police radio) "went through the south lot of headquarters building..." police say detective marconi was sitting in his patrol car when the

later -- the same suspect allegedly fired at more officers, they were not hurt -- but fired back -- shooting and killing the suspect. an officer in florida treated and released from the hospital following a shooting. a suspect is in custody. police say the shooting happened during a routine traffic stop. we've seen so many of these attacks on police across the country -- and even here in iowa. in linn county -- hundreds of people coming together to pray for officers. as kwwl's taylor bailey reports, they're concerned about the relationship between police and co prayer more nats for police officers. "god lays down his life for all and we respect that greatly" nine area congregations--coming together to pray at four different police departments in eastern iowa--one being cedar rapids.

and near the marion and hiawatha police departments. standing against inequality more than 100 people taking part in a black lives matter march in dubuque sunday. there's not an official black lives matter chapter in the area -- "you know, i did a lot of awful things, said a lot of awful things to people. projected myself as a racist and you know, it's something that's been holding me back for a long time, that hate that i felt inside." th making their community inclusive for all. protestors go toe to toe with police over a controversial pipeline. protestors say police are firing tear gas and rubber bullets at them. this all happening in north dakota where some four-hundred people are prtoesting the dakota access pipeline. officers appear to be using water cannons --in cold weather. however, a spokesperson for the fire department says firefighters are using hoses to put out fires

h would also run through iowa -- is already built. an iowa inmate is missing after walking out of a hospital. the linn county sheriff's office says inmate wendee chalupa went to mercy hospital in cedar rapids to be treated for a medical condtion. they say she walked out last night without staff knowing. she's supposed to be in jail for contempt of court -- if you see her -- contact the linn county sheriff's office. an assault case turns into a homicide investigation 15 years later. waterloo police reclassifying the shooting of shawn michael north. he was paralyzed after a shooting in 2001. in august, he died of complications related to the shooting. now police are working to witnesses and try to find new information. firefighters rescue two dogs from a house fire. cedar rapids firefighters responding to a home on first avenue saturday evening. the man who lives there was already out of the home -- but needed to go investigation.. a big story today--

pope francis extended the powers today. it continues a special permission granted last year during the year of mercy, which ended on sunday. the catholic church has long held that an abortion is a "moral evil." tonight, shopping and the environment will be a focus at the dubuque city council meeting. some students want to cut down on the use of plastic bags. students with the loras college honors project say most plastic bags end up in landfills and waterways like the mississippi river... they plan to give several including a ban. also today -- a meeting in the dubuque school district after complaints about a book. parents are upset about material in the book -- the perks of being a wallflower. the superintendent says a committee will talk about it and could consider changes to a broader policy about books used in class. the meeting is today at four. still ahead on kwwl-- iowa firefighters work to make sure people in their community will have a happy thanksgiving. and,

replacement batteries to some i-phone six-s users whose phones abruptly shut down for no apparent reason . that a "very small number" of devices made between september and october 20-15 are affected. the tech giant's announcement comes less than a week after a consumer watch group in china launched an investigation into the problem. the china consumers association said in a statement that "a considerable number of chinese i-phone six and six-s users reported the problem. apple says it is not a safety issue. the battery replacement offer for the i-phone six-s applies worldwide. allstate wants to help keep

victims -- after five teens are charged with damaging homes and cars with b-b guns. iowa city police found the teens in a car and brought them in for questioning. homes and cars with b-b guns. officers found b-b's inside the car. they've had around 35 damage reports already -- and are asking others with damage to step forward, as they continue to investigate the case. a semi driver dumps thousands of pounds of toilet paper on a california highway. troopers say it all happened when the driver hydroplaned and hit a guardrail. they say 29- thousand pounds of toilet paper and paper towels fuel. times in their community -- a thanksgiving tradition continues for its 35th year tonight. back in 1982 - mike and leona adams worked to put on a thanksgiving dinner in waterloo. thanks to the partnerships they built -- the dinner continues now, even though the creators have passed away. this video is from last year -- when they served more than a thousand meals. decades after he died defending our country -- an iowa hero's will be buried today. wilbur mattern will be buried with full military honors today at arlington national cemetery. the oelwein native died in battle in 1943 --but his remains were not recovered until just recently.

triple-a says nearly 50- million americans will be traveling 50 holiday travel. hey there here at chicago's o'hare airport, it's been a steady crowd throughout the day and it's only going to build. take a look behind me at the tsa check point and you can see plenty of people but the line is moving, that's the good ns for this holiday week. look, whether it's here at o'hare airport or even roadways across the country the crowds are only going to build as we go through the week. in fact the busiest travel day according to triple-a likely wednesday before the holiday. and then sunday as people are trying to get back home after spending some time out on the road. most of the people who travel this holiday will be doing so by car, 43 million or so of the 49 million expected to travel. if you going to travel
