the bus...packed with 35 children.....ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade. (sot-broadcastify) "i can see an arm moving but i to the hospital. investigators are trying to find out exactly why the driver lost control of the bus. seven people chosen randomly from the community. five of them will need to vote in agreement for officer jones to be charged. the shooting sparking multiple protest in cedar rapids. people are demanding to see dash cam video from the incident. some--quesitoning officer jones --who was involved in another officer- involved shooting last year. one man speaking out in last week's city council meeting. "an officer who somebody and now paralizing somebody that doesn't add up, something needs to be done they need to let him go." last year's shooting was deemed justified-- the linn county attorney says having a grand jury decide whether officer jones is charged in this case, is in the publics best interest. an area man dies after being

now be ruled a homicide. shawn north was shot in his waterloo driveway back in 2001. north telling police two men knocked on his door demanding his truck- but when he refused, they shot him. he was paralyzed for the last 15 years from his arms down. died. not only when he got shot we had to worry about oh my god he's shot..is he going to die? thankfully he didnt die but then you question what was his quality of life..he was never the same. you could never be the same. the two men took off after the shooting- leaving shawn's truck behind. his sisters hope police will be able to find the men now, as the case draws more attention. a dubuque man who killed his daughter is sentenced to life in

convicted of first degree murder in september. authorities say stern shot his 27- year-old daughter 15 times with three different guns at their home last year. stern had asked for a new trial, but was denied. a man accused of attempting to abduct and sexually assault a girl, agrees to a plea deal. 21-year-old robert robbins, of dubuque, pleading guilty to enticing a minor under the age of 13. accorg from our coverage partners at the telgraph herald, robbins grabbed the girl as she was walking home from school in march of 2015. he apparently pulled her to a shed, but she was able to get away. robbins is expected to be given a suspended ten-year prison sentence. sentencing is set for a day care worker convicted of injuring a 15- month old boy. dianna winder found guilty of child endangerment causing

marks on his face when she picked him up from winder's home in maurice last november. winder claims she did not hit the boy but was arrested and charged. her sentencing is set for january ninth. a driver slams into a woman's living room as she's sitting inside. the crash happening over the weekend on prospect avenue in waterloo. a massive hole left in the side of the home after the driver ba and a lot of debris scattered all over the living room. the hit. "it was just like okay i am gonna sit down i know it wasn't the chair breaking when i heard that crash you know i sat down and just heard a big boom and then just to see a car sitting there" the driver of the car is facing charges of operating while under the influence.

proper burial he deserves --decades after his death. marine corps private first class wilbur mattern, of oelwein was killed in battle back in 1943 --but his remains not recovered until just recently. today, he was buried with full military honors in the arlington national cemetary near washingnton d-c. --73 years to the date of his death. person committee tries to decide if a book being read at one high school is appropriate or not. the book is called "the perks of being a wallflower"--curre ntly part of cirriculum at hempstead high school in dubuque. one woman bringing a request to reconsider whether the book should be allowed because of some controversial content. kwwl's brad hanson joins us live

book--in fact, the american library association says this was the tenth most challenged book from 2000 to 2009. now this committee will review this book and talk about whether students should be allowed to read it. jodi lockwood's reaction after she read the perks of being a wallflower--a book her son was assigned at hempstead high school. (jodi lockwood, dubuque) "there were very graphic scenes, a graphic rape. there's just kind of off the hook drug and alcohol use." locw those concerns to the district--she brought forward a reconsideration request. now this panel will review the book and decide whether it's appropriate for the classroom. "i hope it doesn't feel like, oh book banner! i've got my mob and torches out, i don't want it to be that way. i want it to be a discussion about, is this the unintentionally, some students?" senior kayley weiland is one of three students on the panel. under investigation. a man is arrested, accused of trying to blow up his girlfriend's home. police in illinois say the man went into the woman's home, slit his own throat with a knife in front of her, and then apparently set the house on fire. officers say he tried to run away and then threatened to kill himself, before eventually being arrested. he is in the hospital in critical condition with multiple cuts near his neck. coming up next... it's opening night for iowa high school basketball teams -w third ranked waverly- shell rock -- plus -- we'll hear from iowa state's matt campbell as the cyclones chase a third straight win to go out with a bang -- mark woodley joins us next on kwwl.

the season ends on saturday regardless of what the iowa football team does against west virginia -- and you'd have to imagine the cyclones will go in to that one with a lot of confidence despite the fact they're currently a touchdown underdog -- matt campbell's team has shown vast amounts of improvement that culminated in a second straight big 12 win and a 56 point drubbing of the texas tech red raiders -- it was a game where the two quarterback system worked to perfection with joel lanning running for five touchdowns and jacob park throwing for two more --
