news" for monday, june 9th, 2014. good morning. thanks for joining us. i'm ko im in for anne-marie green. this morning las vegas police say they don't know why a man and woman shot three people before taking their own lives. they ambushed a couple of police officers eating at a restaurant and then ran across the street to walmart and then took their own lives. the couple is married and may have ties to the white supremacy movement. danielle nottingham has our report. >> reporter: police say a man and woman shot and killed two plivgs as they were eating lunch at this ceecse cici's pizza in vegas. both died. >> it's tragic day. it's a very, very difficult day. >> police say the suspects grabbed the officers' guns and

ammunition before running out. >> they had a backpack and a gun in their hand and said tell the cops it's a revolution. >> they then stormed across the street and shot and killed a third person inside the front door. >> that's when you saw people running and yelling, run, run. >> reporter: polices say s.w.a.t. teams and officers swormed the store within minutes. the suspects opened fire on police before turning the guns on themselves in an apparent suicide pact. >> preliminary appears the female suspect shot her husband an then took her own life. >> reporter: they searched looking for clues. officer beck leave behind a wife and six children, officer white, a wife and a baby. the pakistani taliban are blaming responsibility for a

deadly attack at the busiest airport. it began last night at the airport in karachi and lasted into the early morning. at least 19 were killed including the gunmen. the pakistani officials say the attack was well planned. some of the gunmen were disguised as police officers. most of the victims were airport police officers. the taliban say it was in revenge for a taliban chief killed in a drone strive. army sergeant bowe bergdahl says he was treated harshly by his taliban captors in afghanistan. bergdahl is now talking with his medical staff treating him at a military hospital in germany, but he has yet to contact his family. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, good morning. what are we learninger his mental and physical states? >> ko, good morning. bergdahl is just starting to talk about how he was treated by the taliban while congress is demanding more answers about the deal that freed him. army sergeant bowe bergdahl has

reportedly shared his details of the nearly five years in captivity with medical staff in germany. bergdahl says he was tortured, beaten, and held in solitaire confinement after two escape attempts. >> i think there's going to be a lot of things that bergdahl tells the army and medical folks that he's talking to now that it's going to be very difficult to validate. >> he's among those criticizing the white house for not debriefing them and failing to note anymore in advance that five taliban officials would be released in exchange for the release of bergdahl. they're also concerned about the white house's changing racing ail for going ahead with the swap. they say the lives of other soldiers could now be in danger. >> i'm not telling you they don't have an ability to go back and get involved, but they also have the ability to get killed

posted in texas, arkansas, louisiana, tennessee, and mississippi. heavy rains and strong winds are possible today. several tornados touched down in colorado sunday. one hit a golf course flipping the golf cart injuring a driver. another hit a park in lake george causing severe damage. this morning actor and comedian tracy morgan remains in critical condition following a deadly accident. he was riding in a limo when it was hit by a tractor-trailer on the new jersey turnpike. anne-marie green reports. >> reporter: morgan with several broken bones including his nose, legs, and ribs, but doctors say after undergoing surgery, he's more responsive. the driver of the tractor-trailer, 35-year-old kevin roper has been released on $50,000 bail. police say roper failed to observe slowing traffic and swerved too late to avoid

hitting morgan's mercedes limo bus involving another tractor-trailer and sierra overs. the driver wrote this on the facebook page, i can only say feeling helpless on the highway was hard to say. there was nothing i could do but scream at times. joan brook is the head of the national highway and safety administration. she said driver fatigue is the leading cause of many truck driver accidents. >> this is unsafe on the american highways for all of us and most of the people harmed in these crashes are people in cars. >> data shows there were 317,000 police-reported motor vehicle accidents involving large trucks in 2012. nearly more than a thousand of those resulted in fatalitiefata. traveling with him were fellow assistants.
