5:30. like a rerun from yesterday, thick fog that is thicker this morning then we have seen all week, and wet roadways. it will be a little bit of the mess, already problems at the airport and we will check with that i-95 construction project coming up next, erika and natasha good morning. back to the the breaking news flames tear through a popular tavern in delaware county. >> toll house tavern caught fire after midnight and "eyewitness news" reporter jen bernstein is live there to bring us up to date this morning, jen. >> reporter: good morning to you. we are told this fire started in the kitchen as a grease fire put out once but flared up in this building went up fast that second time. i will move out to see clean up crews on the scene here. toll house tavern on chester pike is a stapel, been here for more than 50 years but this is what is left after this early morning fire. we have photos sent by viewers

of the fire on the twitter handle and put them up on the screen. fire fighters got the alarm around 12:20. fire chief said when they arrived police say the grease fire flared up, but sprinkler system put it out. it flared up again in the eaves and ventilation system and ran almost the entire ceiling. no word whether they had help from mutual aid when they responded here. thirty-five to 40 fire fighters were on the scene fighting this fire. once it hit the roof, the roof was engulfed and there was a collapse. before the chief had luckily evacuated all of the fire fighters from the area and pulled out the fire to the exterior of the building, so they had to drawn out fire from the outside with hoses. new this restaurant is family owned and been opened since 1961, norwood fire chief shared with us his own memories of the local tradition. >> i have been here since 1980 and been there ever since.

we used to eat there as a kid, spaghetti dinner on tuesday nights. >> of course, he says that he hopes that the family that owns this rebuild this place, been opened for more than 50 years. here on the scene we did have one fire fighter who suffered a minor injury, twisted knee, fire fighters tripped over the hose and trans port todd tour hospital but was released in his home now with his family. you can see crews just cleaning up debris from the fire that ignited early this morning. we will have more coming up at 6:00, that is latees from norwood, jen bernstein for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". meantime violent robber is on the run at this hour after a vicious attack on the roxborough deli worker. take a lot the at surveillance video. that guy beat up the clerk, at the m and m delaware on marple street during the robbery on tuesday afternoon. all those punches left the clerk unconscious and he suffered a broken bone around his eye. robber did getaway with $1,500

in cash and merchandise in the store. >> chester city resident are telling new yorkers they don't want their trash. they are fighting a plan that would bring trains full of garbage from the big apple. trash already makes its way on trucks from insuring to an incinerator on high land avenue. this new proposal is to bring 400,000 tons of garbage by train. company insist that the amount of trash will in the change just the method of transportation. >> there is no increase in the amount of waste that we would receive on a daily basis and no increase in the processing rate of the facility. >> the smells that come out of there, you cannot open up the windows or go outside good after hearing the plans and listening to residents concerns the the planning board decided to put off a roth for 30 days. 5:33, time for traffic and weather on the three's, good morning, kate. >> good morning, we have more rain to talk about and risk for flash flooding, once

as four trucks fall off a ferry and tumble in the water. each truck we're told is carrying 20 tons of soil. crews came into fish these trucks out of the water. well, for the very first time we are hearing from the delaware teen bitten by a shark. sixteen year-old andrew vance of dell maur showed us his injuries. he was swimming off the waters of the cape henlopen state park when the shark attack. >> my first instinct was to punch it. i punched it in his head. i was trying to pull his mouth apart and he let go and that is how i shredded up my right thumb. >> reporter: experts believe he was bid even by a young sandbar shark adding that the the attack is an isolated incident. ran ce said he will go back in the water but not anytime soon. totally understand that. talk about a close call a man nearly escapes a great white shark while swimming in the harbor in australia his go

delaware county. that fire broke out in the kitchen just before 12:30 and spread to the roof, there were no injuries. police are also searching for gunman who robbed a 7-eleven in west oak lane. investigators say men got away with an unknown amount of cash from the store at stenton and ogontz avenue. and donald wallace of west philadelphia faces charges he called 911 and threat tone shoot drivers at new york's lincoln tunnel. authority tracked wallace to a new jersey apartment and then manhattan where he was arrested. right now you 5:53. we will get traffic and weather together. good morning, kate. >> good morning. we have a flash flood watch to tell but at noon time today and continue through the evening for scattered heavy afternoon thunderstorms. anyone could have rain rates exceeding an inch per hour to cause pond ing on the roads and we are watching smaller streams as well. here is your errand planner. then we're up in the 70's. heavier showers and storms around that 4:00 p.m. hour.

back puppy at the the san diego zoo. six week old cheetah was hand raised by zoo keepers after being reject by its mothers but loved there by its new buddy. handlers expect them to be pals for a long time. >> how adorable. >> puppy love. >> ahh. >> everybody can get along. there it is proof. there's no place like it in the world.

see behind me this building destroyed from a fire that ripped through it early this morning. we do know crews were out here cleaning up debris right now after this fire was put out a couple hours ago, a little while ago they were knocking some of it down, this after this relevant i morning fire. norwood's fire chief tells us the fire started in the kitchen as a grease fire. it was put out but flared up again but this building went up fast. fire fighters got the the alarm to come to this area around 12:20 and fire chief said when they arrived police said that the grease fire flared up and then sprinkler system put it out but then flared up again and traveled through ventilation system up through the roof. norred with fire had help from mutual aid 35 to 40 fire fighters were on the scene. we have pictures we can show you, viewers sent them to the cbs philly twitter handle. there was smoke and flames. you can see fire fighters standing outside, that is because you there was
