thunderstorms, flashflood watches, warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings. that's gone. we're left with with a dry weaned. -- weekend maybe worth getting the bad weather out of the way so we can have a great weekend again. over the last few hours few clouds, all of the precipitation is gone, the clouds will be following as well. and expect to find really pretty day coming up today. we get another one tomorrow. 69 degrees right now out at the airport and in center city, 66 the temperature in trenton and in wilmington, 63 allentown, six an in reading so you get the idea. everyone enjoying temperatures in the 60s, at this point in the morning. by noon we're at 73 degrees, by 3:00 p.m. our high temperature, so close to 80 degrees. now, i think the one thing you will notice today about the breeze woe would we could be finding wind gusts to up 25 miles an hour. breezy day but far less humid than it has been over the last couple of days and far less stormy. in fact, our future weather

says the clouds get out of here. by 10:00, 11:00, you might be finding one, two clouds around in a couple of spots. otherwise you'll be enjoying great day today and the day tomorrow, might be even better. we'll check that out coming up nicole. >> thank you. developing right now september's regional rail is on strike. contract negotiations between septa and two unions failed forcing more than 400 workers to walk off the job watch midnight. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson live at powelton rail yard with the details on the strike, steve good morning. >> well, good morning nicole. so we're about five hours into this strike after septa and the unions just could not come to an agreement, which does mean that, yes those 13 regional rail lines that commute probably about 60,000 riders a day now shutdown. 450 regional rail engineers and electrician was those two unions are off the job at this

time. they're fighting over what you might expect, retroactive wage increases, contributions, to healthcare for those septa workers, now, it is important to say this. the strike will in the affect other methods of transportation, so if you are tacking about buses subways trolleys, all of those are still on. in fact septa officials say they are adding additional transportation as part of a contingency plan that should now be in effectment last dish effort could have been still technically could be mediated federal presidential emergency board to prevent the strike in lou of more time for negotiating. but septa officials we spoke to say they're just not interested. >> at this time we have no plans. septa management has no plans to ask for a presidential emergency board. >> why? >> because we feel that all it does is to continue the possibility of a strike at a

lewis katz and six others suggest the crew did not perform flight control check before attempting to take off. it also indicated possible problem with the economical can gust lock system it, prevents winds damage to flight control when the plane is park appears to have been engaged, the plane going 189 hours a hauer pass the speed where stopping could be done safely. the pilots may have been taking off thinking the gust lock was off when it wasn't. thereby, limiting their ability to control that plane. >> would you have to override the gust lock, you would have to ignore the fact that the very first thing you do before you even start the engines is dis end gauge the gust lock. would you have to assume the crew didn't move the flight controls at all during either pre taxi, taxi, or before take off. and you would have to assume that the gust lock didn't work

>> septa regional rail now on strike. more than 400 engineers and electrical workers walked off the josh after midnight. electrical work verse been working without a contract since 2009. the engineers since 2010. main sticking points are healthcare contributions and retroactive pay raises, regional rails will not be in service during the strike, but most other septa service also continue to operate. bolt hole stops large moving truck in its tracks in center city the moving truck

developing this morning, hundreds of union workers go on strike putting the brakes on septa's regional rails. we're live. today is saturday, june 14th, good morning to you, thanks so much for joining us. it is just about 5:30, let's get a check on the forecast, again, a lot of rain in the forecast so a lot of people hoping just for nice weekends. >> you know, and we've come to expect it. i think we can't you know -- >> we have done well over the last few weekends, right? whatever you are doing, it is working? >> unbelievable, i know. i guess i've just been in a good mood over the weekends, look at the result. during the week, however whole different story. we saw lots of storms yesterday. let me take you outside right now, and show improvement. ben franklin bridge, still little bit dark at this hour. only 5:30 in the morning for pete's sake. but we will be finding very bright day. 65 degrees, is the temperature out at lower merion high school in ardmore i'm sure with schools just about to close, everybody's very happy to walk outside, and find

temperatures as mild as they are this morning. here's a look over the last 12 hours. now, when it stops that's how it is right now and you can see, just few clouds through south jersey. otherwise, we really got a lot of showers and thunderstorms gusty wind, hail, it was a mess yesterday. and the number of locations that is gone, and we are left with so much better weather conditions we've got 69 in philadelphia right now 66 degrees trenton, 66 in wilmington and everybody in the 60s at this point. and the poconos just about there. we have 73 degrees expected by noon by 3:00 p.m. around 80 degrees, and i think around 80 degrees is going to be pretty good number for most people today. it gets a lot warmer than that as we go through the week i'll show you the eyewitness weather seven day forecast coming up. nicole? >> carol, thank you. developing right now septa regional rail on strike. more than 400 workers walk off the job after midnight, shutting down 13 train lanes that carry commuters to the suburbs and philadelphia

"eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is live at the powelton rail yard with more details on the strike, good morning. >> good morning, story about numbers, if you look at the numbers, 06,000 riders per day take those 13 regional rail lines, which as you mentioned are not shutdown -- are now shutdown after septa and the union could not come to agreement. further numbers, 450 workers those are engineers electricians, with two unions, now walk being off the job. they are fighting for what you might expect, wage increases contribution fos healthcare, for those septa workers. it is not everybody though, it is important to say the strike does not include other methods of transportation with septa, buses subways trolleys, all every those are still on. in fact, septa officials say they're adding additional transportation as part of a contingency plan for those riders. we spoke to septa officials as well, as some of those

riders, who are definitely focused on those contingency plans as the strike starts. >> look at our website. we have a service interruption plan that will tell you how to use alternate services, all the that the modes to get where you need to be. >> what's going through my head are contingency plans how is this guy going to get to work next week? i'm sure i'll figure it out one way or another. but it won't be east. >> i the last thing that was brought up last night is a presidential mediation federal mediated forced talk between septa and the union it, could have taken place if septa pushed for it. governor corbett still could fight for that, which would add another 240 days of negotiations preventing a strike. not sure yet if that is on or off at this point. but we will follow and continue as this continues into monday were commuters be expected to ride those 13 regional lines. the latest from west philly, steve patterson, cbs philly,

"eyewitness news" reporter jan has an up gaeton -- update on the fix that failing bridge. >> nearly two weeks since the tilting i495 bridge in wilmington close today traffic. the equipment, and tools, though, now in place for crews to start working on a temporary fix. >> that is the machine that will actually drive these large 4-foot diameter shaft down deep into the grounds anywhere from 140 feet to 170 feet down into bedrock. >> friday us transportation secretary, anthony fox joined governor jack markell and delaware's congressional delegation on site.

>> when this bridge goes down, the ability for folks to travel south to merges up the eastern seaboard; impacted. >> says riding the road even just temporarily will cost roughly $20 million. 2 million coming in the form of emergency funding from the federal highway administration. >> $20 million is emergency repair 100% federal money. i believe that anything beyond that is about 09% federal monday. >> i meanwhile, del dot says it is looking into the 50,000-ton pile of dirt which many say caused the problem here. they're trying to find out how long it grew, beside the bridge, and what the agency can do better to prevent it from happening again. >> if we need to get out here zero here more often, if we need to put technology up, cameras looking at these, i know on some of the bridges we're building now we're installing censors, so they are talking to us. >> secretary fox says the rest of the nation could see this as learning experience however, his right now just getting this bridge reopened to traffic.

pail yan toll gists in new mexico un covered the skull after prehistoric elephant. believe it or not a group of guys celebrating a bachelor party stumbled upon the fos i am. workers are in the weekends every digging it out. that elephant wade as much as 13,000 pounds, and stood 9 feet tall. wow. on the cbs-3 health watch state off initials california are saying they are in the midst after whooping cough he epidemic. so far paneled more than 3400 cases, 800 every them in the last two weeks. the disease typically starts with flu-like symptoms, and rapid coughing spells, followed for about a week or two. doctors say the best way to prevent whooping cough is vaccination. they're urging pregnant women to get vaccinate in the their third try messier. also on the hell watch this morning, pain relief, not with medication, but bee stings.
