>> good morning, man, things could have been bad this morning, with the regional rail possible strike, but with that now being over this morning, your roadways look pretty good. we'll touch upon the 42 freeway, folks still trying to sneak in couple of seconds at the shore and headed back to philadelphia, but we'll talk about that in a little bit. victoria? >> back to breaking news, kenyan authorities blame al quaida linked terror group for deadly attack near coastal town. dozens every extremists allegedly belonging to sim al ya based al shabab, opened fire, killing 48 people. many of those victims had just been watching world cup matches on tv. we will have more on this breaking news throughout the morning for you. meanwhile, back here at home, burst of gunfire cuts neighborhood block party short in north philly. two men were shot at least one of them by a philadelphia police officer. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry, joins us now, police headquarters with more on this investigation, syma, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, erika. what was supposed to be fun afternoon with neighbors turns

dangerous after two -- after shots were fired during two shootings, one every them involving a police officer. now, authorities are investigating right now these double shootings happened yesterday afternoon, in the fair hills section of the city. authorities say at least two people were shot, one of them by a police officer. now, the initial shooting took place just little after 3:00 near a block party, on the 3200 block of north randolph street. police found one man shot multiple times, and he was taken to temple hospital where he is in critical condition. authorities believe there were three men in total involved with the initial incident, when police arrived to the scene, they say they found the suspect trying to run, while the officer fawn one man collapsed on the street, and another inside nearby house. now, one of the officers fired his gun, hitting one of the suspects in the arm. now, that man was taken to the hospital, and is in stable condition. again, two of the suspects are

at the hospital. one suspect is in police custody. officials say the investigation is ongoing, and there is a possibility that both suspect could have been fired, could have have been shot at by the police officer, but they are looking into that. but we are also told no police officers were harmed in this incident. we're live at police headquarters, syma chowdhry, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> syma, thank you. new this morning, shooting in the fair hills section of the city, has left one man in the hospital, and police searching for who did it. it happened inside a bar at second and somerset. one patron shot another in the leg. now, the victim was transported to terrible hospital and is in stable condition. police are searching for that suspect. we're coming up on 5:03, let's get traffic and weather together. weep start things off with kate. >> i good morning, nicole, happy monday everybody. what a gorgeous weekends, and happy fathers day, belated happy fathers day to all of the dads out there, still looking ahead to pleasant weather, off to comfortable start right now.

daytime high. with the building heat of course comes its own sort of slew of weather-related issues, and as we jump ahead to tomorrow, that thermometer will continue to spike. take a lock at these feels-like values guys. by 4:00, 5:00 p.m., feeling like the mid 90s, in the city of philadelphia, and quite a few other locations, so, this is going to be our story for the next couple of days, building heat, building humidity, and couple of showers if not few thunderstorms along the way, as well. victoria, over to you. >> thank you, it is nice to feel that heat. one thing that probably won't be great this morning, feeling the heat of rush hour after a beautiful weekend. but we will see how it pans out. let's look first at the 42 freeway, get you outside a look at 42, right around the area, southbound, northbound, looking great. as i mentioned earlier, trying to sneak in the last couple of of seconds down the shore, making your way to head to the work day, into philadelphia, at least this morning, the 42 looks great. atlantic city expressway looks great. fifty-five, scenic route home, loose great.

lots of nice options in new jersey, once you cross over the ben, be mindful the construction zone that you will have which are affecting patco lines, eastbound specifically headed into new jersey. as we head into pennsylvania, 676, a breeze, and notice starting to pick up little bit every light here. that's when the rush comes in, however, our speed censors are indicating no rush just yet. fifty-five on 95, 50 is your average speed censor on the schuylkill expressway, 55 traveling on 476, as well. now, we do, however, have closure, this is balance guy mink owe road closed at front street due to downed tree. this morning, swedeland road would be your best alternate. also, montgomery county trooper road at pot shop road dealing with accident. definitely good news, we avoided bad news bears, regional rails, all mass transit doing okay, nick snow. >> victoria, thank you. developing right now, the us is securing americans in iraq as the white house considers its next move. as susan macinnis reports, the crisis in iraq continues to intensify.

that flight was on its way to frankford germany. the pile lot told passengers they had been trying retract the landing gear. they let fuel out of the plane before landing. >> we circled for almost two hours, the landing gear would not come up, so they let the fuel out of the plane, and then they make it lighter to land in case we had an accident landing. and we finally landed. >> airport officials tell "eyewitness news" that flight 427 did not declare an emergency. happening today, montgomery county man charged with murdering his two month old daughter scheduled to go on trial. investigators say edward doyle killed his daughter, mikhail a, in his hatboro apartment in february of last year. officials say the child had skull fractures and broken ribs. doyle told police he fell while holding his daughter. >> commuters were worthied weekend, but this morning, septa's regional rail is up and running after a brief

strike. saturday night president obama created a emergency board at the request of governor corbett forcing union workers back to the job. the two sides will now take part in hearings starting the week of june 23rd. the board will then give a recommendation to the president on july 14th. we will certainly comply with the mandates of the law and we will be given the opportunity to present our best case to the presidential emergency board. >> besides now just have over eight months until another potential work stoppage. this was the first strike on the regional rail since 1983. thank goodness, right? >> no kidding. >> dodge add bullet on that one. 5:09. the first beach in our area to be officially designated as gay-friendly will be unveiled today. that's coming up. >> also, frustrated customers at target nationwide after a glitch leads to long lines and problems checking out. but, t this morning, customers are worried there could be larger problems on the way. >> and the us takes on ghana in the world cup today.

as time progresses. so we start off with good news. looking live in atlantic city, gorgeous view, clouds off shore for the most part, it is still very comfortable, here, and in atlantic county really across the board here, at 65 degrees, currently, at our station headquarters, here in spring garden, center city. but down the shore, actually mid 60s, get the moderation from the open ocean water. we go next-door, pollen report. you know, pollen hasn't been all that bad lately. grasses continue to be the issue, 5.5, the level for us today, tomorrow, just little bit lower, but we are going to eventually start to see little bit more of an up tick with this, more heat, more humidity, building, but there is going to be somewhat after mixing of the atmosphere, keeping things somewhat active. so the levels don't necessarily have a chance to spike into the highest territory, good news. storm scan3, locally, and really across the northeast, as a whole, looking pretty quiet. you can already see some showers, some storms, have been bubbling up across the canadian border. we'll see that through western pennsylvania, some of which will also eventually survive as it rolls our way, that

doesn't happen until later tonight. but notice, if you look real closely, do you have sort every envision this, high pressure anchored to the southeast. so you can see the circulation, that clockwise spin of the clouds, around that high. what that is doing, ushering in southwest flow. so, air mass is coming from not just warmer place, but also much more moisture rich source. you have the gulf of mexico to work with, and that does mean that the humidity starts to creep up on us here. so pair of eight's for the daytime high. it is warmer than yesterday. it is also going to be noticeably muggier than yesterday, especially tonight, 73 degrees, mild, muggy, probably shower or storm around here and there, but not everyone gets hit by. that will so a loft us cranking the air conditioner later tonight. ninety-one tomorrow, first 90 plus degree day we've had all year, 93 by wednesday, so steamy day, with a thunderstorm, and those showers will also continue on thursday with more widespread coverage, the next cold front comes along, victoria? >> good morning, is it weirds that i lover the air conditioner on, to put sweat pants and sweatshirt on?
