. developing now "eyewitness news" on the scene of deadly house fire and collapse in delaware. one person is dead, three others including a firefighter are injured. we have the latest for now live report coming up. good morning, it is tuesday, june 17th, i'm erika von tiehl. >> i'm nicole brewer. ukee has the day off. also this morning, swarm of tornados, some appearing two at a time, destroy a nebraska town. the latest on the search for survivors coming up. >> right now i think i heard dating mentioning we could be reaching 90 for the first time this year. >> wow. >> all right, it is time, it is almost summer, right, katie? we have to expect this kind of snipping. >> saturday it officially starts, already in the middle of meteorological summer, but we would tingley already have hit a 90-degree mark during may, so, we're kind of late to the game here. late to the party. but, it will ends up being

good excuse to hit the pool today. you do need to be extra cautious. we have air quality alerts in effect out there today. yes, one of those air mace that is may actually proof to be little unhealthy for sensitive groups. we will be talking a lot about that. all about temperature, though, if we are hitting the 90 plus degrees, we have to talk about the thermometer. we will will talk about that in the minutes ahead, back to you. >> thank you, now a story developing all night long, that fatal house fire and collapse in wilmington, delaware. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jen bernstein live on the scene gathering details as we speak, jen? 400 block of maryland avenue. it happened right down this road, bird road. it is under control. it was called in at 10:30 last night, firefighters were able to get it under control at 11:30, partial collapse, two alarm fire here, we will go to chopper video from last night to show you the extent of the smoke and what people,

firefighters were dealing with. we do know that we talk with a man who lives in nearby building. he said that it sounded like an explosion in his apartment it, shook it, he came running outside, and the shower shale collapse had already happened. >> this man did try, was hearing cries for help, and went in to try to save a man calling for help at the time. he also saw a woman on the side outside of the building. she had gotten out, badly burned, and asking him to help those inside. he tried and did everything he could to try to get to this guy. here's what he had to say. >> he just kept asking repetitively for help. i tried to grab his hands, but the wall, the way the wall was in the way, i couldn't fully get to him. and so i kept trying to get him to crawl closer to me. and then the flame go so hot, toyed get out of the house. >> very sad this morning, fire

officials did say that the man did not make it through this fire. we did have one fatality, the two other women, there was another woman in here, then we have the woman who the neighbor says was burned, they were transport today get medical attention, one taken to crozer-chester medical sent, another to nearby hospital. we do not know their conditions at this point. also, told, a firefighter suffered minor injuries, but is expected to be okay, again, we are at the scene here, 400 block of maryland avenue, of this house fire, it is a residential building, and we're going to continue to gather more details and bring those to you. the latest from wilmington, jen bernstein, cbs 3, "eyewitness news". >> jen, thank you. meanwhile five people in north philadelphia are displaced after this building collapse. chopper three over that scene yesterday, in the 2200 block of deli street. fortunately, no one was injured in that collapse. the red cross is assisting those displaced residents. right now, 4:33, we want to get back to katie to hear

about this probably hot day. >> easily going to be hot day. i think the possible here is do we actually hit 09 degrees in any given location, i think we'll get there in the city of philadelphia. right now little hint of haze settling over the region, but generally speaking we are looking ahead to bright sunny day. we have actually start today see couple of additional showers popping up here as we expected. early this morning, through new jersey, overnight, or i should say, late last night. we start today see couple of showers and storms move in. at the moment you're basically a-okay here across the ben franklin bryn. storm scan3, we continue again over the last hour or so to see few showers have popped up here later last night. did see the showers and storms more so across the western suburbs shall now at this point the activity generally through new jersey. keep in mind, we do have air quality alert. it is in effect across all of southeastern pa, all of new jersey, all of delaware. all this means is that it is an unhealthy air mass specifically for sensitive groups so talking children, the elderly, you know, any casino of respiratory illness

you might have, be extra careful if you have plans to be outside today. future feels like temperature definitely tells the story here, little up tick in the humidity, will feel already like mid 80s by 10:00 a.m. this morning, thermometer will not necessarily read. that will meanwhile by noon, feels like 90. these are the values you want to keep in mind when up head out the door here today. it will feel like the nine's for the better part of the afternoon, even as late as 7:00 p.m., may feel like 07 degrees. hot day coming up. at least sunshine out there four, little steamy out there as the day progresses and get shooting for 91 degrees later on today, victoria, good morning. >> good morning, everyone, i'm sure all that sun will bring in some serious sun glare later on, but as of right now not dealing with too much of anything except few construction zones out and about. now, we did talk about 95, in the construction project, that was narrowing things down to one lane around center city. we will get to that in a moment. maybe headed to the airport this morning, the airport looks once you get there.

however, trample in the southbound direction of 95, right at the air of the walt whitman bridge, do jump into somewhat of a cattle shoot. be mindful of that. traveling northbound on 95, we do have that narrowing project, and for the lines to be painted so if you are traveling on the northbound side of 95 between the vine and allegheny, you may experience somewhat of a slow down, due to we're seeing one lane is being open. but by the looks of this, looks like we might have a few that have just been reopened. so we'll keep tabs on. that will good news for you, because your average speed is at 55, 50 on the schuylkill, 55 traveling on 476. headed on the northeast extension southbound right around the pa turnpike, we do have disable tractor-trailer to be mindful of. but nice way to start the morning. >> thank you, victorial 13 year old boy shot while riding in stepfather's car remains hospitalized this morning. it happened on 20th and norris streets, in south philly yesterday afternoon. police say a male gunman and and accomplice approached wipe stoled in traffic.

then fired at least eight shots, striking the boy twice. >> that 13 year old victim was transported to children's hospital. he is presently in stable condition, he was shot in the shoulder and shot in the leg. >> the boys stepfather and another child in the back seat were not hurt. the swat team searched the house on mountain street for two suspect, recovered two guns inside. >> meanwhile, police in upper darby, they are looking for four teens who attacked a homeless man. the teen posted this violent video on facebook. you can see one right there, one of the teens walks up to the man, punches him in the face. the 58 year old victim is nearly knock off the bench. the attack happened at the trolley stop in upper darby. police say the teen's planned the attack, then ran away laughing. destruction and heart break this morning, in america's heartland, after twin tornados strike nebraska nearly wiping small town right off the map. the twisters touched down within a mile of each other in stanton county, destroying the

town of pillger northwest of omaha. cnn reports two team are dead including a five year old child. nineteen others are injured. right now nebraska is under a state of emergency. emergency crews and residents spent the evening sorting through demolished homes and businesses there, stanton county sheriff estimates 50 to 75 percent of the town's homes and businesses are now destroyed. a nebraska state patrol has closed all roads into town. >> started yelling, and going through my yard, i watched my hot tub slide, and then everything went off and the heater smashed over me and my buddy. >> tornados also caused damage in two other nebraska counties. emergency crews continue to work to locate and assist residents in need. president owe back a -- obama considering special soldiers to advise iraqi troops, some who have fled an extremist blitz. told congress after 275

though. we do end up with a potential for some stronger storms ourselves. let's take a look what's going to shape up though for the rest of the day today. not everyone will hit that 90 degrees mark. in philadelphia, we are hitting 91, that's our expectation, but still only into the 80s through atlantic city and allentown, regardless, talking some very, very warm air. that is building in here. temperatures at the moment are already off to very mild start. 74 degrees at the airport, probably drop another agree or two, 68 at the moment in trenton, coolest spot of the pack, still flirting with 07 in mount poconoment quickly walking you through today, tonight, scorcher, 91 degrees, later tonight, much like what we saw yesterday, very likely see spotty shower or storm, mild, muggy, but tomorrow's the hottest, and because we're heating one so much instability, some of those storms that we've got in the forecast could proof strong. if not severe. guys, back over to you. >> katie, thank you. well, the us is looking ahead to its next world cup games against power house portugal

time for check on business news. >> mine watch's jill wagner joins us from the new york stock exchange, jill, lots every uncertain turn in the mark at the time seems. what's happening on wall street today? >> good morning, nicole, erika. today the federal reserve bridges its two day policy meet to go discuss the economy. investors are watching to see if the central bank will give any clues about whether it might raise interest rates. yesterday, the markets were pretty flat. investors kept close eye on the crisis in iraq. it has already sent the price every crude oil up 4% this month, this is really important, investors, traders here on the floor, tell me that the whole relationship between crude oil and the price at the pump they say that we could actually see sometimes a couple of days, few days, for the price at the pump to go up when the price of crude oil does. so certainly something that will be affecting us this summer driving season. erika, nicole? >> keep an eye on. that will and, also, hearing dominoes taking page from apple -- what do you mean by

seeing too many problems. we do have a few construction project from the overnight we're still dealing with. so we get right down to it. ninety-five, this shot around the area of girard avenue, southbound traffic, headlights coming toward up, northbound moving away. if you are traveling northbound, they've been doing that painting project, on the road, where we've been restricted to one lane on the northbound side between the area of allegheny and the vine st. expressway, or the vine and allegheny. now, it does seem they have few lanes open, so it does seem that they've sort of wrapped things up a bit. but, new incident just popping up around center city philadelphia, or old city rather, to eighth and callowhill, dealing with an accident, where a vehicle had went into a pole. so, if you are traveling the southbound direction, of eighth street, in that area, you will notice that problem this morning. and, take a look, speed censors all over really indicating sofa nice ride. but, talk about heating up, weather wise, katie, what are we in for today? >> very toasty day for us out there, victoria. good morning, everybody, in for day that's going to

actually top off to the 90s for the first time in 2014. so little shock to the system, you know, we do see our fair share of 90 plus agree days, every single summer, but, this is the first time. so it is a bigger deal, right? meanwhile, storm scan3 has already showed sign of life here. had couple of showers, even thunderstorms rumbled through late last night, mainly confined to new jersey, will start to clear out of here pretty quickliment look at the difference in the temperature, if you recall from yesterday, if you were up in the mountains perhaps, just came home from weekend get away for fathers day perhaps, look how much warmer it is now. went down right chilly yesterday morning. now 19 degrees warmer, from this same time yesterday. and, almost, 10 degrees warmer in philadelphia. so you will notice the difference, i certainly didn't need a jacket today. i don't think anybody will. 74 degrees the current temperature right now, predominant flow still out of the southwest for us here. which means, that the air mass is still coming from a very very warm and moisture-rich source. now, specking mainly sunshine today. going up to 91. tomorrow, the hottest, and we
