we begin with breaking news, a very violent night on the streets of philadelphia, five separate shootings in at least two of them deadly. we are live with the latest coming up. also ahead surveillance video released from the moments leading up to a shooting attack near rittenhouse square, we will have more on the suspect police are searching for. pope verse the mafia, drastic announcement the holy father made about organized crime, this weekend. today it is sunday june 22nd good morning to you, thanks so much for joining us i'm nicole brewer. it is 6:00 o'clock. let's check that forecast. yesterday, if is day of summer, carol we are off to a good start. >> we had temperatures 79, 80 degrees. >> yeah, not bad today we will

be several degrees warmer than. that we saw a few clouds and some sun, we will be doing the very same thing today. lets see what we have out there at this point. you can see on storm scan three that there are a few clouds. if you look closely there is easier when you see them move in. not a lot of them but i think you'll find some clouds out there today with some sun breaks. so temperatures are not bad at all. we have 65 degrees through center city and airport. sixty-two trenton. sixty-three in wilmington. poconos cooler at 52. wildwood at 66 degrees this morning. our temperatures today, by 9:00 a.m. 71. by noon time 77 degrees. and then for our very first, summer day, our temperatures will be pretty much on average normally we would be at 84 degrees. we could be at 48 degrees as well today around 3:00, i think 83 is probably a safe number. then lets look at our future weather and it does want to bring a few cloud around. it says is there just enough instability in some areas, you

might see a shower, most every single forecast, says no, you maye a couple of clouds out there today but you won't be seeing any precipitation. we will continue to monitor that and also, how warm it gets on that eyewitness weather seven day forecast coming up, nicole. >> carol, thank you. more on the breaking news a violent night in the city of philadelphia while were you sleeping, five shootings happened overnight, two deadly. lets get outside to syma chowdhry live at police headquarters with the that story, syma. >> reporter: police have their handful since last night five shootings, two fatal, one including a teenager. these air lot of details, to sort out, so bear with me but i'll go in order time-wise. first shooting happened at 10:30 on the 4600 block of mar vine street. a man was shot, and he was critically wounded, taken to einstein hospital. and then at 11:00 o'clock

three of the 400 people were in the lot of near the 1800 block of north franklin street having an impromptu barbecue when the crowd spilled over to the 700 block of montgomery street. well, shots were fired, two teens were hit, and a 16 year-old was taken to the hospital, temple hospital where he was pronounced dead, a 19 year-old is at temple in stable condition. then around 11:30 police were on the scene of the 5500 block of north american street where three people were shot all three were taken to the hospital, shortly after there was another shooting on the 1300 block of mckenly street, one person shot. that person is listed in stable condition. and, the second fatality happened on germantown avenue at rising sun, a 24 year-old man was shot after getting into a confrontation with somebody who was shot twice in the torso, he was taken to temple where he was pronounced dead. so right now a lot of details, going on, with five shootings

that happened since last night, and philadelphia police are working to get more information but we know right now that no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified. we are live at police headquarters, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> syma, thank you. and new this morning philadelphia police released surveillance video of the suspect wanted for sexual assault and robbery. investigators tell us early yesterday morning a young doctor was walking to a writ even house home when she was attack from behind. the suspect forced the 26 year-old woman into her apartment, sexually assaulted her and stole her i phone and keys. that victim is a doctor at the university of pennsylvania hospital. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has been tracking the investigation. >> reporter: it was just after mid in night on saturday morning when the 26 year-old victim, a doctor, at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania, was coming home from the nearby bar. she told police that the suspect walk up behind her grabbed her neck and forced

her inside where she was sexually assaulted. >> to think that someone could do that, and rittenhouse looks like a nice area too. >> reporter: 1900 block of spruce street is normally a quiet road. early morning attack left neighbors a bit taken back saturday evening. >> you feel safe in that area but we've got to be aware you may not be. >> it seems very safe, i'm surprised it happened here. you don't expect something like this to happen in rittenhouse. >> reporter: police are hopeful that security cameras in the area captured the suspect on video, perhaps before and after the the attack happened, in the meantime, the public is asked to take precautions as the suspect remains on the streets. >> i am not always as aware as i could be so this will make me probably more could go is in event of what is going on around me when i'm walking home. >> just walk with people,. >> reporter: special victims unit is hand telling case. the suspect is described as a hispanic male at 5 feet 7 inches tall wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt.

at the time of the attack. we're near rittenhouse square, matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". twenty year-old james daniels is behind bars charged with rape, robbery and possession of a deadly weapon. police in new castle delaware says he punched a woman and forced her in the car where he allegedly sexually assaulted her and hit her with the baseball bat. when she escaped he drove autopsy. daniels remains jail unable to post bail. police release aid picture of the man wanted for allegedly robbing two gun ranges in the city leaving a man critically injured. suspect identified as jeffery chandler has the word stretch tattooed on his right hand. his alleged accomplice, has already turn herself into police. the the paris accused of robbing yuri's gun range and delaware veil sports center gun shop and shooting range stealing nine handguns and shooting a man. it is southwest philadelphia, this man is wanted for robbing three businesses and six days. in each case, the suspect

entered the place, talks, and then pulled a gun from the right-hand and demand cash. this surveillance video was taken inside 56th street food market thursday afternoon. no injuries have within reported but police worry about what will happen next, if a victim resists. well, one day after speaking out against decriminalization of recreational drugs pope francis takes on the mafia. ex-communicating all of the members. cbs news correspondent alexis christopherus has the story. >> reporter: pope francis has a message for mobster you are ex-communicated from the catholic church. francis made the trip to southern italy saturday. he hell outdoor mass for a hundred thousand people a town where especially brutal branch of the italian mafia is centered. that group is a global drug trafficking syndicate well known for extorting businesses and infiltrating public works contracts. those who end their lives follow this path of evil as these people do are not in

well, four states in the midwest are bracing for more flooding and some spots they are seeing the worst month of rain in more than a century. cbs correspondent jamie youkiss shows us damage from minneapolis. >> a lot have of it we will lose. >> river boat captain gus, didn't expect to kick off first summer weekend by canceling four weddings. he is worried he might to have cancel more. >> it is a tough call to make when you have to call a bride to say we have to suspend business because river is forecasted to be over banks. >> reporter: rising flood waters are closing roads and sidewalks on harriet island and it will only get worse. >> their prediction is going to be probably three or 4 feet up the building there. >> reporter: three to 4 feet up the building. >> yes. >> reporter: thinks wetest june on record in 140 years in

minnesota, mississippi river has swelled as lakes and streams flow into it. by tomorrow river is expect to rise above 17 feet, at st. paul's airport they have built a second wall to protect against rising water. minnesota is expected to ask for federal help, torrential rains has washed out roads and created mud slide around hospitals and apartment buildings. like the one barbara lee lives in near jordan, minnesota. >> that stove was against that wall and the whole side of the building just came through the wall. >> reporter: mississippi river is rising and moving at more than 20 feet per second, at that speed it is potentially damaging to nearby homes and businesses. that is what prompted the army core of engineers deputy commander christian thompson to release some pressure from the dam. >> what would happen if you didn't open this dam. >> you're looking at potential flood risk to the community here, so we've got to open this to help alleviate some of that. >> reporter: jamie youkiss for

the high thin variety and then go out to red age we are looking at the same thing. 61 degrees. very comfortable start. this is our first full day of summer, yesterday it was fairly full day, started at 6:51 in the morning. wind are calm, 52 degrees, in philadelphia it is 65. wind south east at about 3 miles an hour, calm wind down in atlantic city at the airport there. a temperature of 62 degrees this season could last, forever. but it is not here forever. lets make full use of it. we've got 65 at the airport. sixty in allentown. sixty-seven in millville and dover is 66 degrees in wildwood. so very comfortable start to the day. storm scan three note that is there are a few of these clouds, they're not, they're not going to block your sun that much but you could find clouds building to day. i don't think they will build to the towering levels, but you'll see a couple of clouds out there and some sunshine and just a nice day, it will

be warm, pretty, high pressure is here. things are looking like they should be very nice. they will be nice here again tomorrow, and with humidity remaining, pretty much on the low side and then humidity does start to pick up by the time we get to tuesday and especially by the time we get to wednesday. so what do we see as we go through the the next bit of time? well, here is our computer model that says a few clouds, okay, we get that, and it also say enough instability. if you saw anything today it would be a sprinkle, so, it does want to put a couple of freckles of sprinkles around there, and otherwise we are looking for great weather today, tomorrow looks really nice as well, so i think we've got a pattern we can enjoy for the next couple of days. we don't see as warm as it was last week but with those 90, 93-degree days but we will be getting well in the 80's the on the seven day forecast. dew point today is going to be 55 and that puts us in the very pleasant range. in fact dew points anywhere

from 50 to 55 degrees. we will go from awesome to pleasant. who could fight with that. so if you are going to the shore today low risk of lip current but remember the sea breeze. high risk of sunburn and temperatures in the water about 07 degrees. the air temperature is 75 degrees. it is really the winner any where you go. eighty-three philadelphia sun and clouds. seventy-five at the shore. fifty-seven in the mountains and the wind, light all day long we will be finding those, that same story tonight with southeasterly wind couple miles an hour. 62 degrees. pleasant nighttime temperature too. you can keep those windows open and not to have pay for cooling in your house. 85 degrees philadelphia, for monday, 86 tuesday, wednesday, and chance of a shower or thunderstorm, we're in the mid to upper 80's by the the time we get through friday, a saturday, and maybe friday with the thunderstorm but that is a long way off, nicole. >> hope solo, star goal keeper of the u.s. women's soccer team is behind bars being held

without bail after an incident in washington state. on saturday morning police say she hit her sister and her sister's 17 year-old son, as carter evans reports this is not the first time solo has been in trouble. >> reporter: police say hope solo appeared intoxicated and upset when they arrived to what investigators described as an out of control party at her sister's house in kirkland, washington some one called 911 after a fight between solo, her sister and her 17 year-old nephew. police say they had face and neck injuries and solo was uncooperative when she was arrested and book in the local jail on two counts of domestic violence assault. >> i knew from the very beginning we were going to find a waste to win. >> reporter: charismatic goalie for u.s. women's soccer team became a celebrity after winning back to back gold medals in the 2008/2012 summer olympics. she's now the most recognize wood man in american soccer and considered one of the top goal goal keepers in the world.

it was a violent night at philadelphia police respond to several shootings, two of them are fatalities. i'm syma chowdhry with that report, coming up. also ahead the identity of the victim in the deadly collapse in cherry hill. a caffeine high of a different kind just weeks after saying prices won't go up you'll soon be paying more for star bucks in store and at home. today it is sunday june twenty-second, good morning, thanks so much for joining us. i'm nicole brewer. it is 6:30. lets check that forecast and first full day of summer, carol so it will feel like it. >> maybe a tiny bit more than yesterday but maybe only by 4 degrees. yesterday we were at 79, 80 degrees, as we expect and today we will be at 83, 84 degrees. eighty-four is our normal high this time of the year, it is first full day of summer, we have, some sun, we have a couple of high, thin clouds

and we might be finding puffy cumulus clouds later on. so ben franklin bridge looks very nice there. you go to the shore and you can see the sun, working and saying yes, it is our season, it is summertime. storm scan three nothing going on except those couple clouds you might see out there. we will continue to monitor these skies, and we will also watch these temperatures start to climb a little bit. sixty-five in philadelphia right now. sixty-two in trenton. sixty-three in wilmington. if you have not been out yesterday this morning it is comfortable out there. if you have your windows old i'm sure you are glad you are. we have a dew point of 60 degrees in philadelphia those dew points which measure how much moisture is in the air will start to lower today which is good news because that makes the air mass feel even dryer and more comfortable. our temperatures by noon 77 degrees. by 3:00 p.m., 83, 84 degrees. expect that for a high, mixture of sun and clouds. it looks like a really nice day. looking at future weather this computer model which is not

right about the precipitation to the south because that is not happening now but it said it was, i'm not totally buying into what it says here which is a couple of sprinkles so i think we will be finding mostly a day with some sunshine a couple of clouds, comfortable temperatures and where it is summertime for pete's sake and we will look at that eyewitness weather seven day forecast coming up, thank you. breaking news, violent night across the city. philadelphia police investigating five shootings, two deadly. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live at police headquarters with more on that story, syma. >> reporter: that is right, nicole, philadelphia police are busy responding to several shootings, overnight, and i have information here about the five of them, i will say them in order. so we will start with the first one that happened at 10:30. it happened on the 4600 block of marvine street. a man was shot, he was taken to einstein where he is in critical condition. a little after that around 11:00 o'clock near the 1800

block of north franklin street about 300 to 400 people were in a lot having an impromptu barbecue when police came and dispersed a crowd, crowd spilled over to the 700 block of montgomery street, shots were fired, two teens were hit and a 16 year-old was taken to temple where he was pronounced dead and 19 year-old was also taken to temple in stable condition. then police were on the scene of the 5500 block of north american street around 11:30 where three people were shot, all three people were taken to the hospital where we're working to get an update on their conditions. there was also a shooting on the 1300 block of mckinley street, one person was shot and he is listed in stable condition. and there was, the fifth shooting on germantown avenue and rising sun a 24 year-old man was shot after getting into a confrontation with somebody, he was shot twice in the torso. he was taken to temple hospital where he was pronounced dead.

right now fail police are investigating all five shootings. no arrests have been made. this is what they had to say about the incident. >> as police officers we're concern when there is people being shot, we're always on guard and aware of the environment. and again, they continue to investigate these five shootings, so far no suspects have been identified and again no arrests have been made. we're live at philadelphia police headquarters, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> syma, thank you. meanwhile police are investigating a deadly stabbing in fail's hunting park neighborhood. officers say just before 4:00 o'clock a 37 year-old man was stabbed in the chest of the front porch of the home on the 1300 block of erie avenue. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. police say hat suspect took off down erie avenue and if you have any information you are asked to call police. police are also looking for two men in connection with the deadly shooting in the northeast. a man in his 20's was pronounced dead just before 2:00 at day morning at colgate

and roselee street in lawncrest. his name has not been released and it is unclear what spark that shooting. we are learning the identity of the victim in friday's deadly collapse in cherry hill. officials say 38 year-old jose ortega in camden was killed during a demolition of the old blockbuster video store on route 38 in cherry hill. camden county investigators are still looking into how that collapse happened but preliminary reports indicate it was accidental. well, prices at the the pump are on their way up, in new jersey, prices have have jumped for nine straight days, after falling, for nine days before that. triple a reports the average in the garden state is 3.54 for a gallon of regular. in pennsylvania, drivers are paying $3.75 per gallon. in delaware, the average is 363, the national average is just to give you some perspective $3.68. well, it seems like every time you turn around there is an announcement of another auto recall, right? roughly one out of every ten cars and trucks on the road

has been recalled, this year alone. but as three on your side consumer reporter jim donovan find just because your vehicle may have been recalled doesn't mean you can expect a quick fix. >> reporter: when kathy good of delaware got a front axle recall note fridays gm involving her brand new 2014 chevy cruz she brought it right to the dealership. >> i left it there thinking i would get it back that day and they called me and said nope, it is in the shop. >> reporter: kathy ended up driving this loaner car for more than a movement every time she called for an update. >> carries on back order. >> reporter: nicole moses face aid delay getting her jeep liberty fixed. >> they turned me a way because of no parts. >> reporter: her recall involved fuel tank. her notice says small chance have of experiencing a fuel leak during certain rear end collisions can result in the under body fire. >> they told me it coiled take weeks or months. >> reporter: for seven months brett kupeck said he left his two dodge cars park while waiting for recall repairs on the tie rods. >> they told me they are

usable but you are taking your life in your own hands. >> reporter: recall notice says could cast a loss of directional control and or crash without warning. >> i have been waiting months and months and months for parts to get their cars fixed and noend in sight. dealers don't know when they are coming in. >> reporter: national highway traffic safety administration has strict rules about when and how a recall is issued. under the law consumers are entitled to a remedy within a reasonable time but word reasonable isn't defined. >> they cannot fix the car where there is no parts available. >> reporter: attorney bob silver man says if a vehicle is out of service because of a recall condition that cannot be fix or because parts are not available owners just don't have to have sit and wait things out. >> fur carries a brand new car you might have a lemon law claim. you might be entitled to all of your money back. if you have a used car, even a car out of warranty, that has been sitting down with no end in sight you are entitled to some compensation. >> reporter: often it is not just a case of make ago digsal parts, sometimes it is a case of starting the replacement
