taken off of the streets. the man whom police say sexually assaulted a woman in her rittenhouse square home is now behind bars tonight and we are learning how they track him down good evening, i'm chris may. i'm jessica dean. that attack took place in the 1900 block of spruce street from rittenhouse square. suspect was pick up at his work place a restaurant at broad and catherine in south philadelphia. "eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson joins us live from rittenhouse square with the latest, steve. >> reporter: police say one of the biggest pieces of the investigation is this, after the assault, police say the the suspect garcia stole the victim's cell phone. it is a phone they used to trace where garcia was believed to be living. they used detective point to pinpoint where the home was. it is a place we visited today and spoke to the woman who answered the door. what she said may or may not surprise you. we will let you be the judge. >> they moved fast. >> we have this guy off the

street. >> you can rest easy today. more importantly, this young professional woman, and her family, can begin to rebuild. >> reporter: so how did police catch an accused rape is in less than three days? they say, three reasons: a cooperative victim, traceable technology, great detectives. >> it is good investigative work. good instincts by the investigators having the right people there at the right time. >> reporter: twenty-eight year-old milton mateo garcia identified, arrested and charged. police say this is him, early saturday morning on spruce, forcing the victim into her apartment before police say he beats, rapes, and then robs her. >> this appears to have been a crime of opportunity. >> reporter: police say have after the attack garcia stole her keys and her phone. they traced it here to this neighborhood in south philadelphia. detectives pinpointed this home on eighth street, where garcia was living with at least three other men, and this woman. in spanish, she tells us that

she didn't want to give her name but confirmed living with garcia and speaking to police. >> spanish speaking. >> reporter: she says that she's surprised about the charges and while she didn't know him well garcia seemed like a good person. monday night police found the victim's phone in garcia's second floor room. when they arrested him at his job on broad street they found victim's keys in his pocket. police also confirmed today that garcia has been in trouble with immigration and customs enforcement, causing great concern in question as to his status as his immigration stat news this country, meanwhile, police say part of the ongoing investigation, will be to take that dna from the scene, and find out if it is a match for any other open rape cases in this area. now that is work they say will continue far beyond this case. reporting live, from rittenhouse square i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness

news". philadelphia police stop a bus on the roosevelt boulevard, to nab a bank robbery suspect. police say they pulled this september bus over on the boulevard near cottman, officers arrested a man who allegedly robbed a wells fargo bank on welsh road and the boulevard. a tracking device with the money led police to that suspect. in one was hurt during the robbery. it has been a very nice, day, all across the region, "eyewitness news" in norristown where people were out and about enjoying the the nice conditions, but they shouldn't get too used to it unfortunately. sorry to say that, meteorologist kathy orr is tracking some storms for us, she's outside on the die deck now, kathy. >> beautiful day with a little bit of the breeze and some humidity, chris, almost like a transition day, to the the really oppressive heat, that we have had just a week ago. we're talking about heat, humidity making it feel like it is well in the 90's. the high in philadelphia making it up in the mid 80's.

three dimensional images, do you see how he can hone in on a certain area. >> you get a clearer look at the fresh tissue by being able to look at individual slices as opposed to the entire breast, single projection. >> reporter: penn was part of the study that included over half million women with 3-d digital mammography there was a 41 percent increase in the detection of invasive cancer, compared to traditional mammography alone. there was a 15 percent decrease in unnecessary follow-up test because of false alarms. >> it would help on both end of the screening process. >> reporter: lori says uncertainty of in the knowing was worse than the diagnosis that finally came, with the 3-d technology. >> i believe it saved my life. >> now for women having 3-d mammograms it is just like getting a regular one, you don't feel anything different and many doctors feel they should be used more routinely but they are currently not covered by most insurance plans. we have more information on this, and technology at cbs
