>> reporter: thanks, jessica and chris. we have very strong storms to show you on storm scan three. you can see the line extending from new england right down into maryland and virginia and we are right in the middle on have that with storms really breed nothing this hot, humid environment. they love heat and moisture. boy do we have plenty on have. that lets zoom in and see where storms are right now. these two cells almost starting to come together as one here, extending from berks county down to lancaster county this could form a line and move in chester, montgomery counties within the next hour or so. keep an eye on. that lets zoom in closer, you can see red and orange shadings show heavy rainfall. we are seeing a little break in the action right around reading proper but still a lot of heavy rain and frequent lightening across eastern berks county right now, 556 lightening strikes just in the past frame of radar there. so severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the entire area through 9:00 o'clock tonight. we are talking about downpours, possible hail, up

to quarter size in diameter damaging wind gusts up to or exceeding 60 miles an hour and frequent lightening with dangerous cloud to ground lightening strikes possible as well. that one cell has been sitting over berks county for so long dumping this heavy rainfall that we now have a flash flood warning to tell but that does include the the city of reading and goes until 9:30 tonight. also, severe thunderstorm warning has just expired for berks county still one for north central bucks county but it hads bain very, very hot day outside as well, the heat is still in place in philadelphia. storms will eventually get here but let's talk a little bit more for the heat and for that we will take you outside in the heat to meteorologist justin drabick live from media, hi justin. good evening, kate, that is right we're in media for dining under the stars. again, every wednesday they block off state street from jackson to orange and they bring out tables to even eye some great food out here and it is certainly hopping. it is not stopping people. we have to find some shade if you can. these guys are just hanging out between the buildings and the shade, but still people are starting to come out for

tonight's event. the heat is not stopping them. we're also storm free at the moment. you can see a couple of people there enjoying a evening, already, dinner and they have got all of the tables out. the crowds are starting to increase. over the past hour. so again a little bit of heat not stopping these people enjoying a nice night here in media but let's talk about the temperatures, today, obviously was a hot day. we are looking at the hottest day of the year so far. 96 degrees was the official high temperature in philadelphia, average high is 86. 10 degrees above. that a record high is 103, and that is setback in 1901 #. here's what it feels like. still feels like over 100 degrees in many spots factoring in the humidity. it is brutal this evening. your evening planner, we're talking about temperatures still hovering around 90 degrees at seven # o'clock. there will be a chance of showers and storms, heat indexes well in the 90's, and it looks like we will see dryer conditions, a little bit later on tonight and very humid w all of the heat and humidity around you can track it dunn to your neighborhood. get radar weather alerts. just check it out on our new

>> reporter: do you think this is nice. >> yes. >> reporter: not too hot for you. >> not too hot. >> reporter: is it because you are jumping in the pool. >> yes. >> reporter: over in philadelphia where a huge outdoor public pool, it is hard to come by, folks were staying cool in other ways, but some tourist at the liberty bell came unprepared. >> i wish this line would move quicker, because i really want to get inside. >> reporter: dog days of summer are driving these dogs at seager park toward the the shade. >> they still need to exercise but at the same team we need to keep them cool. we like to provide water for them to cool off. >> reporter: water does the trick for most people and pets but for millions of muslim who are fasting during the holy and hot month of ramadan like this man, welshing it can be a challenge. muslims cannot eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. >> yes. >> he works in the food cart all day. >> he said that it is hotter inside the cart then outside

"eyewitness news" reporter jane car bay other is live from feltonville, where it all happened, jane. >> reporter: well, chris, 24 hours ago, an explosion, that food truck, sitting right behind me, it was moved earlier today and as this investigation continues we are getting a better picture of what happened here. we were also able to speak with some of the first people on the scene yesterday who were tending to the critically wounded. in a instant food truck turned fireball engulfs 300 block of wyoming street in feltonville injuring more than a dozen people. >> i have never seen anything like tonight mize life. >> reporter: septa police officers just a block away at headquarters during the explosion were first on the scene. >> two of the victims were outside of the truck. they were both severely burned and injuries. i was able to get a blanket and able to roll her around the the blanket and get they are down the street. people in their underwear that had taken their clothes off from being burn, people walking around with their skin hanging off their bodies as they were walking around.

>> reporter: as they reflect, the investigation continues. police say the truck was equiped with two, 100-pound propane tanks, both full but only one was in use as the truck was opened for business. police say the tank that wasn't in use had a leak and the grills inside provided ignition. >> they just opened this like two months ago probably. >> reporter: owner is 42 year-old olga and her daughter jaylen were critically injured. now police say the food truck was properly licensed and as "eyewitness news" dug deeper, we found the health department does an initial inspection followed by l and i which licenses trucks but besides, health inspections afterwards, having to do with food safety issues, we found no department is inspecting for non-food related issues. >> she was doing a very good job and it is crazy thousand happens. >> reporter: in all, 13 people were injured and police tell is five of those people remain in the hospital this evening, critically injured, including the owner, her daughter and two other employees of that

truck, also part of the same family. reporting live from feltonville, jane carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> jane, thanks for the the update. flyers captain claude giroux reportedly spent last night in jail, according to the ottawa sun, giroux was arrested in that city for repeat liz grabbing the buttocks of the police officer. the paper reports that it happened, outside a bar and says that alcohol is believed to be a factor. giroux does live in ottawa in the off season. sources say he will likely not face any charges, or additional punishment. flyers gm ron hextall released this statement to say that simply read we are aware of reports surrounding claude giroux. until we have more information we will withhold making any further comments. new at 6:00 a son and grandson are now charged in the death of the 88 year-old montgomery county man. officials say david ange, senior killed his father jack inside his plymouth township home. david saint ange junior is accused of helping to dispose

of his body. on friday the the victim's body was found wrapped in the tarp in gibson township susquehanna county some 150 miles away. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers picks up the store friday there. >> reporter: jack saint ange lived on arch road in plymouth township, montgomery county for decades but now it is a crime scene after investigators say the 88 year-old man was murdered inside by his son, david saint ange, saint ange conspired with his son, david saint ange junior to dispose of the body. they brought the the body to this wooded area near the pennsylvania/new york border in susquehanna county about 150 miles away. they left it there, where it was later found by workers clearing out brush from the area last friday. >> nothing really surprises me anymore but for something like that to happen in this rural community, it is a little scary. >> you just don't find bodies laying on the side of the road every kay. >> i would have never used to worry about anything. now you do have have to worry a little bit.

>> reporter: neighbors say saint ange had been miss something time and he lived with his son and his grandson. >> our neighbor since 66. >> reporter: maryann knew saint angood e will and said loss is tough to take. >> i got along fine with him. we'd go out to dinner together. i just can't believe it. >> reporter: law enforcement officials, first arrived on the scene during the the day on tuesday, we have seen representatives from the montgomery county district attorney's office, plymouth township police as well as state police. they will be joining their count are parts from susquehanna county and what will be likely be an investigation that spans multiple counties. david saint ange senior is charge with stealing items from his father's house. matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". authorities have charged karen thompson after police found five children in her suv while she went shopping in port richmond, yesterday. thompson a day care provider faces five counts of endangering welfare of the child, and five counts of reckless endangering of another person. the children were unharmed and

thinks our big story right now. very strong thunderstorms have developed, and notice they are starting to connect to one another. we are seeing a line now develop, from the lehigh valley all the way down through southern lancaster county. this is all pushing east. this time of the year we have had a lot have of daylight left. a lot of heat and humidity in place around philadelphia area and these storms are moving our way but they are moving, very, very slowly. we have a couple of flash flood warnings to tell but just an indication of how these storms have been sitting stationary over certain areas for past hour or so, reading and portions of berks county under a flash flood warning until 9:30. portions of central bucks county under a flash flood warning until 10:15, perkasie, plumstead up toward tinicum as well. temperatures, still very hot in areas that have not seen rain. we are still at 93 at the airport. ninety in wilmington. look at the storms dropping, temperatures in the northern and western suburbs back in the 07's right now. tomorrow tarts off a whole new set of problems. flash flood watch in effect tomorrow morning. that will continue through friday morning as a very slow

moving front comes through and that front is slowed down by presence of arthur off the the south east coast. current winds 07 miles an hour sustain. gusts to 85. pressure at 992. it will be a hurricane by tonight. direct impacts for the outer banks as we get into friday early morning late thursday night into friday morning and it will make a closest path to us during the day on friday with dangerous rip currents and perhaps outer band of showers and storms especially for the shore points ape rip currents and rough surf will last in the weekend. so how much rain are we talking about? with the slowing front tomorrow we can see an inch or two of rain through 8:00 o'clock tomorrow evening. on friday we will start to see heavier rain down the shore with arthur passing off the coast. out are band could produce two to 3 inches in some spots especially for portions of new jersey and then we will dry out for weekend. breaking it down day by day showers and storms some heavy tonight. tomorrow flash flood watch with strong thunderstorms. friday clearing in the city by the afternoon. arthur passes off shore. the sunny and nice, finally die saturday. showers and storms, humid.
