arthur to stay out to sea, but we can start off here with the localized zoom or a localized shot of our campbell's field camera looking over the ben franklin bridge. you can see higher clouds out there a little bit of sunshine and much like yesterday we will start off with some sun, eventually to have deal with more thunderstorms which could prove locally strong or severe much like yesterday. lets go to storm can three down to carolinas where arthur continues to churn. this is now a category one hurricane and it will be heading northbound but eventually it will get swept out to sea as our next cold front helps that along. we will get hit with heavy rain. you can see thunderstorms firing up here, back through chester and montgomery counties at the moment. you may be running into wet wet they are morning but there is generally a lull that takes place for now and then eventually more widespread showers and storms will erupt. flash flood watches also take effect at 8:00 a.m. and they

"eyewitness news" reporter jen bernstein joins us from holmesberg to bring us up to date good morning. >> reporter: search crews said they would be out here at first light and just a few minutes ago i did see a coastguard helicopter flying over the area where we are

right now. as of this morning there is still no sign of this missing 66 year-old who we're told fridays bucks county. we have talked with his friend off cameras last night and they said he is an incredibly good swimmer and they are hoping he is still alive. last night's search crews immediately began looking for a 66 year-old man, whose last seen in the delaware river around 8:00p m. manpower from philadelphia, new jersey state police, and the coastguard using boats, chopper and under water tracking devices. police said five people were on board a 24-foot sail boat watching a race when a storm quickly moved in. officials say the group dropped their sails and moved over the yacht club. but the sail both capsized. >> it filled with water and, according to the individuals that were on the boat it sunk almost immediately. >> reporter: four people were able to swim back to the river bank by the philadelphia fire they told police they last saw this 66 year-old, using a

cooler as a floattation device in the river. >> while they were getting on the banks of the delaware river saving themselves they looked back and they saw the cooler floating and they no longer saw the 66 year-old male holding on. >> reporter: this morning the river is much calmer then it was last night and in all fairness police did say it was very hard to see the surface of the water because of the rain and the roughness from the wind. now police did find the cooler and it turned up on the new jersey side of the river. police say it does ant peer that any kind of foul play was involved or any alcohol was involved, and it looks like they said it was because of the storm. a source tells us that the chopper last night dide what they thought was the sail both but too dangerous to put a boat out there in the dark. again, that search is going to resume this morning for 24566 year-old and we did see that coastguard helicopter already up looking for him. that is very latest from the northeast, jen bernstein for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". storms were reeking havoc as lightening may have sparked

several fires across the region like this scene, in schuylkill township chester county. flames, shot from the roof as fire fighters extended ladders to reach the top of that home. we're told that it sustain $100,000 worth of damage, a fire fighter was treated for heat exhaustion but no one else was injured. lets get right out to "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer live from voorhees camden county where residents say that lightening sparked an apartment fire there, nicole, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to both of you. as you both know fire can really happen in the flash and here in voorhees, new jersey we're told by neighbors that just less than ten minutes for this complex to be completely engulfed in flames after neighbors say that lightening struck it. again, a similar scene to what we saw in montgomery county. this cell phone video shows us a fast moving fire on raven hallow drive-in montgomery county. one neighbor say it started with the flash of lightening around 7:30 wednesday night.

>> we ran over to the neighbors hoist, she came running out of the side door, already on the phone, calling the the fire tenth. >> reporter: eyewitnesses say they first saw lightening and then smoke, fire, it was only minutes before that roof went up in flames. >> we had extensive damage in the roof area, most of the roofies gone, the second floor had extensive damage but the first floor with the exception of the water from the fire fighting operation is pretty well intact. >> reporter: in voorhees, new jersey a similar story. >> scary, very scary. >> reporter: fire displaced 17 units this complex on the 2500 block of berwyn court. >> i heard an explosion-like noise and then i saw embers flying and so i believe it was lightening. >> reporter: no serious injuries were reported but one fire fighter was taken to virtua hospital for evaluation. once again we are talking about the kind of damage that displaced 17 units here in

hurricane warnings are in effect as first named hurricane of the season makes its way northward. >> arthur is threatening in the only east coast but holiday weekend festivities for a number of people. cbs news correspondent craig boswell joins us from nags head north carolina with how things are there, craig good

morning. >> reporter: good morning . hot and humid morning as sun begins to rise in nags head, north carolina i don't think we will be seeing direct sunshine as clouds are beginning to build up here in advance of the hurricane arthur plotting it way towards our area in nags head. it is expected to skirt along these outer bank area, and, that is enough to give us, we're expecting heavy winds and a lot of we have i rain. that is why mandatory evacuation on hat race island. that went in effect an hour ago because those roads washed out so quickly in four or 5 inches on have rain, and it is very dangerous, since they cannot get off that island once this storm will begin to roll role in. those people were advised, there is an voluntary

evacuationness order. but interesting things with the dynamic begin to change with hurricane warning issued we were in the restaurant talking to the restaurant owner, that is when people planned these vacations a year in advance and were getting dinner began to ask do we want to say and see our first hurricane. many with small children decided no, it is probably not a good idea to check out our first hurricane with our family here. these people began to stream out of the outer banks area. it could not come at a worst time for business. july, the the month is the hottest month for them economic delay but fourth of july week is when we make a lot of money. we're talking about 110 million-dollar for the month of july. they will take a economic hit, expect to move out of here quickly and that is what they are hoping when worst of these conditions get in here tonight and tomorrow, that it rolls out of here quickly. the governor advised everyone to take this seriously. don't get injured before or

dangerous conditions forced fire fighters fight the flames from outside. this broke out at 4:30 along 2200 block of 39th street. there were no reported injuries. investigators are right now searching for the cause. developing right now, a storm capsizes a sail boat on the delaware river. five people on board, four of them made it back to land. search resumes for that one missing boater. latest on the search, good morning. >> reporter: that search was stopped last night because it was too dark to see anything and too dangerous for crews out here but upon first light we did sea coast guard helicopter flying over the area where we are, as it patrols ape looks over the river, looking for this missing 66 year-old man. we're told from bucks county, as of this morning he still has in the been found. he was last seen at 8:00 p.m. in the delaware river apparently clinging to a cooler as a floattation device. search clues used boats, chopper, under the water tracking devices to look for him. they had 45 minutes of day late before it got dark. five people were on board a 24-foot sail boat when a storm moved in. officials say group, dropped sales and used a motor to head back to the yacht club but thunderstorm caused the sail boat to capsize. four of the five swam bank to the river bank but the 66 year-old was not with them. >> they said that he is an
