arthur strengthened into a category two storm, with winds of 100 miles an hour, before hammering the southern end of the outer banks. that storm turned slightly west, increasing the threat to mainland communities, flooding, tornados, and intense winds. >> most people who have been concerned have been directly on the coast, now we've concerns about people inland who may be impacted by potential flooding and rivers going over their banks. >> before arthur took aim at north carolina, tourism officials anticipated tourists on the outer bank this weekend, but the storm moving, fortunately, not going to make landfall in our area, right, katie? i know you are tracking art you. >> absolutely true, you're right, does not look like the storm system will have any kind of direct land falling impact per say. but, this thing is churning. now, even as you look at the last three hour loop, you can tell this is making little bit of turn to the northeast now, right? so i still believe that we are
6:34 am
going to be basically delta glancing blow from this storm system, however, that's not the only thing we got going for us here. also tracking a cold front, and that needs to work its way through before we can say okay, we ' officially in the clear. meantime we're in squeeze play with moisture, clouds, heavy rain, which currently is falling right now through sussex county delaware, another band from the front back to the north and west suburbs. so philly while don't have any raindrops at the moment. that will very likely change. we take a look currently outside lower merion high school, couple of miles away, 68 degrees your current temperature with very modest breeze, turning little bit more northerly with time here, as we continue to track arthur and of course the cold front this morning, we are still watching for additional flashflood potential, but since we last came on the air, flashflood watches have actually been reduced, so now southeastern pa is no longer in that flashflood watch. central southern new jersey then through the entire state of delaware. but will still be gusty wind at the coast, rough surf, dangerous rip current day, please be smart about that if you are going to the shore.
6:35 am
in the meantime, it is little cooler, still warm obviously at 82 degrees, but the lingering rain is with us, eventually we do clear out, just give it time. the breeze will kick in, but by later tonight under clear sky that will be the only weather-related issue we have to deal with. guys, back to you. >> thank you, katie. although our area isn't expected once again to take direct hit from arthur, his impact is already health felt along the jersey shore. >> jen bernstein has been live all morning for just ocean sit, keep saying, it is not normal fourth of july looks right now, jen, good morning. >> good morning, you know, it is not so bad. the haze has finally lifted. getting better look at the ocean here. you can see behind me, we do have some rough surf here. you can see, it kind of going against the rocks. rough seas, and they're expecting that to include rip tide. we do not rip tides can be very strong by rock jetties like this one you are looking at right now, now the ocean city beach patrol wants people to have a loft fun today. if you are going into the water you will need to follow certain rules. yesterday the ocean city beach
6:36 am
