through this unbelievable tragedy. tonight we're learning more about the victims, all under the age of five. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live at the scene with the latest on the investigation. matt. >> reporter: natasha, investigators tell us they're still not sure how this fire started but they do know that it spread as quickly as it did because it jumped from porch to porch. the fire ripped through the block so fast neighbors hardly had time to react. eyewitness video shows its intensity. >> we can't find four of the children that lived in that house i guarantee you they were in the house. >> reporter: when it was over worst fears were realized. four year old twin sisters maria and marialla bowah and brothers patrick sanyeah a four year old and taj jacque six weeks old died inside one home unable to escape the flames. >> i want to die.

>> reporter: comfort is the two boys' grandmother. she could barely speak this afternoon, her grief coupled by what we saw earlier this morning in the first painful moments after the fire destroyed eight homes on gesner street. >> the members of that station right now are heartbroken. they're very heartbroken because we lost four children in this community. >> reporter: over 100 firefighters battled the three alarm fire for a few hours. it started on the front porch of the home the children were inside accelerated, neighbors said, by a couch that caught fire. the twin sisters lived in the home with their mother. she was babysitting patrick and taj. there were other children in the home she did manage to get out but she couldn't save them all. >> their mom, she tried to rescue all the kids but she couldn't 'cause it was lot of them and the fire was everywhere. >> reporter: so now a community tries to move forward a-small memorial and eight charred homes reminder of a day and a fire no one in this small immigrant community will ever forget. and many people in this area

"eyewitness news" along penn's landing where hundreds gathered to watch the u.s. army band perform. it was a perfect night for an outdoor concert. and the night was capped off with fireworks over the delaware river. the show was a treat for people on both sides of the river and the it coincided with activities happening in both philadelphia and in camden, new jersey. also a spectacular display here wowed beachgoers in ocean city. a beautiful array of fireworks

lit up the night sky over the atlantic ocean. this is what summer down the shore is all about. it was a perfect night to watch fireworks as you know, how is the rest of weekend? that's important, too. >> that's right, natasha. doesn't feel like july 5th as temperatures were below average with no humidity. check out this time lapse loop from middle township high school in cape may courthouse. tough to find any clouds in the sky, beautiful finish to the day setting up for a nice night, current temperature at 67 degrees, how about that? you can keep those windows opened and enjoy the pleasant conditions. inland a little milder 72 at the airport in philadelphia, 59 degrees in mount pocono. 63 quakertown, mid 60's in doylestown looks like we finish off the rest of the weekend very pleasant and we'll keep it dry. storm scan3 just showing some clouds moving into western pennsylvania. we're still dominated by an area of high pressure. that's what's left of arthur, post tropical storm system situated over nova scotia continues to move north and

cancellations at the airport in halifax. new england was mostly spared from major storm damage. as arthur pulls further and further away from the jersey shore the threat for rip currents fades. the beach the shore both packed in ocean city today. lifeguards were on high alert over the past few days warning swimmers about the dangerous rip currents but now the ocean is calming down and conditions are quickly improving. >> the water temperature has dropped quite a bit, down to about 63 degrees. the surf has dropped a little bit. yesterday it was starting to build a little bit, a little bit more dangerous. we're seeing pretty good conditions plus the west wind has been coming off the land and that's been kind of settling stuff down a little bit. >> swan adds that it's also always important to swim only when a lifeguard is on duty. and now a swimmer in southern california is recovering tonight after being attacked by a great white shark. a fisherman reportedly hooked a 7-foot long grate white off manhattan beach this morning after fighting to reel him in for at least a half hour or so

the agitated shark came right into the path of a group of swimmers. >> the white shark was attempting to get away from the fisherman when the swimmer intersected the shark and the shark ended up biting the swimmer in the torso. >> the victim described only as a middle aged man was conscious and breathing on his own as he was load need awaiting ambulance. we're told his injuries are not life-threatening. a double shooting in north philadelphia, it sends two teenagers to the hospital, a 14-year-old was slot in the arm, an 18-year-old was shot in the leg. shell casings were visible along the 2000 block of east atlantic street overnight. both males have listed in stable condition and police are still searching for a gunman in this case. and a pickup truck crashed into the side of an apartment building in northeast philadelphia. you can see right inside the apartment on red lion road and waldamire drive.

no one was home just before 2 o'clock when this happened. the truck was towed away from the scene but police are looking for the driver who ran away after the crash. the fire marshal in berks county is working to try to determine what sparked a fire at these two townhouses in bally borough. it took firefighters an hour or so to place the fire under control at main and south second streets last night. one unit was deemed uninhabitable two others sustained smoke and water damage a total of six residents were displaced. a missing k-9 officer is back in the northeast with her family tonight. bee bee here snuck out of a philadelphia police officer's backyard on friday by crawling through a hole in the fence. we did get word today that bee bee had been found safe and sound and has been reunited with her owner. and now to the very latest on the crisis in iraq. new video has emerged of the reclusive leader of isis, the sunni militant group who has overtaken large sections of iraq. cbs news correspondent charlie

d'agata tells us the individual is one of the world's most wanted men with a $10 million bounty on his head. >> reporter: the leader of the most extreme exo'islamist group in iraq and beyond emerged from the shadows and ordered all muslims to obey him. [speaking foreign language] >> the interpreter: god ordered us to fight his enemies, he said, to carry out jihad and to spread the religion. >> reporter: a video posted on an isis web site claims to show abu bakr bag daddy delivering the sermon in mosul the city that fell to isis fighters three weeks ago. will it take careful analysis to prove it's him but the face seems to fit one of the only known photographers of the man. the video appears to have been filmed just yesterday during friday prayers. [speaking foreign language] >> the interpreter: i am the lead here presides over you, he said, though i am not the best of you. obey me as long as i obey god and you.

>> welcome back. controversy in california after a passerby records video of a highway patrol officer punching a woman while making an arrest. the officer claims that she resisted but many say he went too far. community activists tell cbs news correspondent bigad shaban they're worried now this incident will resurrect old fears. >> reporter: the woman hit at least 11 times while lying under a highway patrol officer along a busy los angeles freeway is speaking out

through her attorney. >> she got beat. she got savagely beat by someone who seemed like he was trying out for mixed martial arts and it is absolutely unacceptable. >> reporter: civil rights leaders in l.a. are calling on the federal government to launch the own probe but the chp says it can handle the investigation on its own. >> we are known as an agency that really polices itself. >> reporter: what was your reaction when you saw the video. >> i was shocked but also not surprised. >> reporter: jodi armor is a criminal law professor at the university of southern california. he says the patrol officer's actions could hurt the public perception of all law enforcement agencies in the l.a. area including the los angeles police department. >> i would say these are among the worst times in terms of the police image and community relations since the rodney king tape. >> reporter: the 1991 brutal beating of rodney king sparked a public outcry for reform within the lapd. up until last year, the department of justice had

special oversight of la's police force because of what it described as a pattern of misconduct. that consent decree lasted for more than 10 years. it's a for tuesday's incident with the highway patrol officer, his report of what happened said the barefoot woman ignored his orders to stay away from the freeway. so he said he tried to take the woman into custody to protect her. bigad shaban for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, protesters hold more angry demonstrations in one california town as more undocumented immigrants arrive to the area for processing. for the second time this week a plane carrying migrants from texas touched down in san diego where they were then transported to the town of murrieta. protesters on both sides of the debate have been clashing over what the white house calls a humanitarian crisis. >> and i hurt for those children but as an american, it's not okay, america does not have the capacity to be

inundate. >> we're all americans, we love this country, want to be safe it's a well. we understand that we need to protect our borders and we need to protect our country from terrorists but these kids are not terrorists. >> president obama will visit texas next week so far a trip to the border is not scheduled. also convicted killer joren van der sloot gets married in prison. he and his girlfriend exchanged vows in a prison in lima peru. they met when she visited the facility. van der sloot is serving a sentence for killing a woman in 2010 and remains the prime suspect in the disa appearance of alabama teen mat natalee holloway. many are spending the holiday weekend with family possibly barbecuing in the backyard. wait until you see what one florida family found under their grille a12 footpages thon slithered its way into a residential area of florida city. one resident tried to capture

the large snake but was not successful. he found a hiding place. >> there was a guy coming out. i said are you afraid of makes. he said no. i said come over here and he came over there and it had slid and hid under the lady's grille. >> neighbors did manage to get the python into the grille. they waited for first responders to safely remove the snake. authorities say the python was not a pet, it came from the wild. everybody is looking for a good barbecue, justin. >> that's a party crasher. >> absolutely. speaking of barbecues, great day to have one. >> great weather for a barbecue. >> i'm thinking about trying to get a hot dog or something. >> all right. tomorrow is the day for that as well if you didn't get your chance today, fire up the grille tomorrow once again. temperatures little bit warmer but at least it will be low humidity. the shore still rocking this hour. check out the ocean city boardwalk. still pretty jam packed. the stores are opened. prime time vacation season.

good night for fireworks. i saw this on our skycam3 around nine:30 or so when they were setting them off. 72 degrees right now in philadelphia, though, so inland a little bit warmer but check it out near the coast, mid 60's at the shore. wow, this is really nice. you can keep those windows opened again. not quite as cool as last night but still refreshing with that low humidity. dewpoint temperature tells us how much moisture is in the air. this is very low for summertime, currently at 54 degrees. tomorrow pretty much the same story, low to mid-50's for the dewpoint. so what does that mean? pretty much just awesome. by next week though we're going to increase these numbers, 65 to 70 so we're back to the oppressive feel. probably by tuesday into wednesday. storm scan3 quiet over the delaware valley, high pressure will keep us dry through the rest of the holiday weekend so more sunshine on tap for your sunday. here's what's left of arthur. continues to spin away up around nova scotia. good news for beachgoers tomorrow because most of the storm energy is well to the north so all the wave action moving away from the coastline. we'll check the current buoy

readings and they have lowered so the seas are subsiding, around 3 feet off the coast of delaware, so less of a threat for rip currents tomorrow but you can always have rip currents no matter what type of storm, no matter how nice it is outside so make sure the lifeguards are on duty but the threat is certainly diminishing. high pressure builds off shore for sunday, monday. that starts to warm us back up into the 90's for monday afternoon with more humidity. then it's just hot and humid for tuesday and wednesday, low 90's. tuesday afternoon, wednesday afternoon good shot for some scattered showers and storms as another cold front approaches. but nothing happening tomorrow t it looks great. finish off the holiday weekend with sunshine around, maybe a few fair weather clouds, maybe you're extending your weekend one more day into monday. i think most areas stay dry monday. there could be a shower up in the poconos. a lot of this should stay to the west but it will be more humid and then tuesday that's our better chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms for the afternoon and at night and we'll do it all over again on wednesday. so, check out the temperatures. nice start tomorrow morning in

the 60's, even some 50's. mid 80's for the inland spots, maybe even some upper 80's for the hot spots in the delaware valley. then it does get hot for monday, upper 80's to around 90 degrees for the high temperature, a little bit cooler at the shore and the delaware beaches. comfortable overnight, though. mostly clear, 62 for center city. that means some 50's in the suburbs. a warmer day on sunday, mostly sunny. we're back to average or even slightly above average high temperatures in the mid to upper 80's. and then the shore forecast, plenty of sunshine for sunday. upper 70's to near 80 but that ocean water dropped to 62 degrees. a lot of sunshine. make sure you have the sunblock handy. here's the extended forecast. we'll make a run at some 90's again monday, tuesday and wednesday. the humidity increases. so that means more showers and storms especially tuesday, wednesday afternoon. by the end of next week we dry it out again, little bit cooler back to the mid 80's. yes, you knew it was going to come again, 90's. >> i knew they were just around the corner. >> right. >> thank you justin. lesley's got sports highlights.
