from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". devestation, four children are killed in a fast moving fire in southwest philadelphia. several row homes were destroyed, and this morning investigators search for a cause. also, frightening moments for swimmers after a shark attack shuts down a popular southern california beach. and, one of the worlds' most wanted men comes out of the shadows. he's the leader every isis, the sunni millitant group, which has overtaken large sections of iraq. today is sunday, july 6. good morning to you. thanks so much for joining us. i'm nicole brewer. it is 7:00 right now. let's get a check on that forecast. carol is standing by with all of the details. and we beautiful day yesterday. >> yesterday was nice. we could keep that going year around. >> let's just do that. >> yes, well, you know, sews

nice. why are we re-inventing the wheel? but no, we'll finds a day very similar, nicole, to what we saw yesterday. just cup many every degrees warmer than what we saw yesterday. and we're already starting out little bit warmer. 68 degrees in philadelphia right now, we have 60 in trenton, 63 in wilmington, and still hanging onto 58 degrees in allentown. everybody else starting to get into the 60s right now, the poconos, just pick up 3 degrees there. mild day on tap for every single location, storm scan3, showing, that a few high clouds may be out there, but it is not cutting down on your sunshine or definitely will not cut down on your enjoyment. day. this will be another one of our beautiful summer weekends, 56 degrees, the dew point right now, so that means that the air mass is still continuing to be dry. not as dry as yesterday, when those dew points were down into the 40's, but, still, not all that bad. we'll find them climbing, the humidity will be getting up there, starting tomorrow, and tuesday, and wednesday, and we may also be what, lining up

for our second heatwave of the summer coming up this week. so, we've got temperature by noon, at 83 degrees, by 3:00 p.m., 87 degrees, it will be feeling very, very summer like out there. and i think probably the most you'll see as we go through time would be just couple of clouds, and then, just lots of sunshine, so, we will run the day out with plenty of sunshine, and then we'll start the heat coming in here once again, talk about all of that just ahead. nicole? >> all right, carol, thank you. southwest philadelphia community is coming together, after tragedy. four children were killed in a house fire, four others injured. syma chowdhry is live in kingsessing, same, a investigators are still trying to figure out what exactly sparked the flames. right? >> reporter: that's right, nicole t has been little more than 24 hours since a fire broke through five homes, destroying five homes, and damaging three others. a fire department is only about a block away, and they couldn't even contain this fast moving fire, killing four

young kids. now, officials are just mourning the same way the community is. >> we lost four precious lives. >> mayor nutter, like many folks, are trying to comprehend something unimaginable. how a fire killed four kids, under the age of five. >> hearing about this incredible tragedy is one thing. seeing the scene, meeting the people, is quite different. >> cell phone video captured the flames that burned nearly half a block ongoingner street near 65th early saturday morning. the fire didn't just rip through homes it, ripped through tight-knit community. >> i want them back, i love them. >> this woman is the grandmother of two boys, four year old patrick, and six week old todge. also in the house four year old twin sisters maria and

marry he willa. the twin's mother baby setting two young boys. able to get out of the house along with three other children but could not reach the four other kids before she was forced to escape through a second floor window. >> their mom, she tried to rescue all of the kids, but she couldn't, there was a lot of them, and the fire was everywhere. >> officials are not sure what started the fire but say it likely started on the front porch of the home the children were in. it quickly destroyed five homes, damaged three others, displacing more than 40 people. it was a site even firefighters will never forget. >> the members that far station right now are heart broken. they're very heart broken. because we lost four children in this community. >> and there is a memorial here on the corner of 65th and gasner. you can see four little angels representing the lives of the four kids who were lost. now there is memorial is right next to a church, that is accepting donations, for those 40 plus people who have been displaced by the fire.

bravest lieutenant gordon anbels died while driving to save lives at second alarm fire here in brooklyn. >> fourteen year survivor of the force, survived by his wife and two caughter. >> independence day celebration continued throughout the region. maritime provinces. about 200,000 people are without power in nova scotia and new brunswick, and there are flight delays and concellations at the airport in halifax. new england was mostly spared from major damage. so that's some good news. well, as arthur pulls further and further away from the jersey shore, threat for rip currents have really does fade out there. >> lifeguards on high alert over the past few days warming swimmers were dangerous rip currents. well, now the ocean is calming down, and conditions are quickly improving. require though always important to swim only when lifeguard is on duty. >> independence day celebration ends in tragedy when three boats collide near miami. authorities say four people are dead, and dozen more are hurt. the boating accident happened at the end after fireworks display in coconut grove, florida several people tossed overboard after that collision. >> swimmer in southern california recovering this morning after being attacked

today marks one year since the deadly crash of i shall rihanna air light flight 214. three people kim, another 187 injured when the plane crashed at the airport. us safety saw pilot error caused the crash. came in too low, to too slow on its approach towards runway. federal investigators are working this weekend to find out what caused a train to derail. the montana rail link train transporting boeing train parts. nineteen causer derailed, three fell into a river.

poison ivy, miserable. >> the sky is not. blue skies over philadelphia, looks beautiful, i keep mentioning the high thin clouds, not going to do anything to mar the day. lovely here through center city, "skycam 3", also beautiful when you go to the shore, we've got another similar sky condition, with those high thin clouds, but looks beautiful in atlantic city, then you head down to margate and the beach is great. >> so margate looking lovely really, you can't miss, where ever you find yourself, thinking i was a joan just to think about being here, because look how nice it is. all over the plastically looking at the poconos compared to philadelphia and the shore. poconos, 53 degrees, philadelphia 68 degrees, 67 in atlantic city and that's about 10 miles inland at the airport there. high thin clouds, start to thin out, as well. so expect lots of sunshine today. it will be beautiful day, as

women. 68 degrees right now in philadelphia. sixty in trenton, 53 degrees temperature in the poconos, 68 in wildwood, and we've got temperatures in the 60s along the shore. ocean temperature right now, 26 degrees off atlantic city beach. looking at temperatures higher in the water as you move to the south. and low risk of rip current today, fortunately, but still make sure you're where the lifeguards r mostly sunny, high pressure where it is, if the air comes up out of the south though it starts to get little bit warmer, then tomorrow, gets a lot warmer, and a lot more humid as the high moves farther away, and we get sandwiched in with front on the other side. that just kinds of funnels up the warm moist air. expect to find warm, humid day, and one of the computer models says even monday later monday in some spots then tuesday dealing with couple of showers and thunderstorms. we put this into motion. today dealing with no problems whatsoever, and then by the time we get to tomorrow, in the morning, do we find

anything, nope, looks everything looks quiet, but by afternoon, could we, and late afternoon, at 8:00 at night, so that's really more evening, could we be seeing few showers out to the north and west. it is possible. there is another chance we could be seeing some showers around here, on tuesday, and then another chance that we could be finding some on wednesday, as well. the temperatures in the ocean that were cold yesterday, at 59 degrees, had started to warm up little bit. and by the time you get to cape may, 74 degrees, lewes, delaware, 71, rehoboth beach, 71 degrees ocean water temperature. nice in all locations with temperatures 80 at the shore, 88 degrees through philadelphia, with wind coming up out of the southwest, five to 10 miles an hour, tonight, mostly clear, still nice though, 68 degrees, and then we start what could be heatwave monday, tuesday, wednesday, to make all of the precautions that you did last time, keep your pets as cool as you are, check on everybody, make sure they're air-conditioning is working, because we've got some hot weather coming up monday,

wander around, seem disoriented, they make vocal eyes particularly at night if they're wandering around, or pacing. >> probably go to the bathroom in the house? >> they can also go to the bathroom in the house because, again, as they get older their senses become a little dull. >> i heard even they can get lost in the corninger? >> correct. >> where they are facing a corner and can't get out of it. what can you do to try to alleviate their symptoms? first of all, kindness what you need to do? >> kindness, you have to be very kinds, you have to be aware of what is going on, and lots of times, you want to interact with them more, maybe play with some toys, you want to stimulate them. play with toys, give them some exercise, go to work in the morning, be sure not to let the blind down, open the blind up, leave the sun in, and leave the radio or tv on. >> with a about any supplement of any kinds? >> there are supplement, some increase the circulation to the brain. and that works, as well.

>> such that is. >> product called flavonex. a human product increases circulation it the brain, can be beneficial. >> you can find that on line? >> yes. >> alloe, the alloe plant everybody lovers it, always so soothing, but it is toxic? >> right. that needs to be explained. if your pet actually bites the leave after alloe plant, when you open up the plant, you see the green, clear gel, and then you see like a white latex around it, the gel is non-toxic, but the latex around it is. so that's why it is considered like a mild to moderate toxin. however, the product, like i do carry an alovera juice in my office, and the toxic products are taken out of t so, in that respect, it is okay to give. >> okay, so you could use just the gel, but not the white around it, because it could lead to vomiting than sort of thing? >> correct. >> okay, hip dysplasia, we've got 30 seconds left. what can you do for that? here, some of have you a rotweiler and has got it. >> that's miss forming of the ball and socket joint of the

ing. >> today is sunday july 6, thanks so much for joining us, nicole brewer, 7:30, let's get a check on the forecast. >> now, 70 degrees, through center city philadelphia, so, starting our warm up. yesterday we hit 83 degrees, i think today, we will be several degrees warmer than that, so, expect to go finds these temperatures getting into the upper 80s, center city philadelphia, it looks lovely looking nice everywhere, to the shore it is fine, storm scan3 it looks fine, so every place is very quiet, at this point, no precipitation out, there and we are not expecting any today at all. 68 degrees, right now out at the airport in philadelphia, 60 in trenton, 65 degrees in wilmington, in the 50's still though in allentown and in the poconos, 53 degrees there, wildwood warm up to 70 degrees, same temperature as center city. dew points remain relatively low, this in the 50's there is

time of the year. that's fine. the air mass is very comfortable. yet, even more comfortable, though, down to the 40's, and we will be watching for them to increase, though, as we go through tomorrow, and the next couple of days, the heat and humidity will be pouring back so by noon today, 83 degrees, sunny, comfortable, by 3:00 p.m. we get the high temperature for the day, and we probably hang onto that for an hour or so after. that will that will be into the upper 80s, but looks real nice out there, the seven day forecast, does not look as nice, so we'll show that you coming up. nicole? >> carol, thank you. community pulls together after tragedy, and yesterday's deadly fire in southwest philadelphia. four young children were killed, four others injured, and dozens displaced. hunt on this morning for the driver who crashed his pick-up truck into the side of an apartment building in northeast philadelphia, the driver ran away from the scene, you can see, right inside that apartment, on red lion road. luckily, no one was home, just before 2:00 yesterday morning, that truck was towed away. fire marshall in berks county work to go determine what sparked a fire as these townhouses townhouses in valley borough. took firefighters an hour to place that fire under control at main and south second street friday night. >> total of six residents were displaced. >> missing k9 officer is back in the northeast with her family this morning. bb snuck out of philadelphia police officer's backyard friday, by crawling through a hole in the fence. shy was found safe yesterday and reunited when her owner. >> controversy in california after passerby records video after highway that troll officer punching a woman while

making arrest. >> they're wore dollars the incident will rest recollect old fears. >> the women hid 11 times while lying under highway patrol officer along a busy los angeles freeway, speaking out through her attorney. >> she got beat by someone who seemed like he was trying out for mixed martial arts, and is absolutely unacceptable. >> civil rights leaders in la are calling on the federal government to launch its own probe, but the chp says it can handle the investigation, on its own. >> we are known as an agency that really polices itself. >> what was your re when is you saw the video? >> criminal law professor, he says, the patrol officers actions could hurt the public
