"eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry joins us now from the scene, in winslow township with the developing details. syma, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ukee. police believe the shooting took place right behind me, on haywood lane right there and the stray bullet went through that house, hitting a 13 year old girl, while she was home in bed. now, other bullets flew as well, one hitting a house across the street, about three doors down. now, police still on the scene

investigating. this happened around 12:30, at the home of the corner of hathaway drive and hey haywood lane. they heard gunshots but didn't see anyone. thirteen year old girl was at home in bed sleeping. she was shot at least once in the back side. now, she was taken to cooper hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police just tell us now, she is in stable condition. now, i spoke with a neighbor, who called 911, and she didn't want to be identified, but she tells us there has never been a shooting in this neighborhood. >> all the sudden i heard two shots, then i heard like seven more. i just called the comes. i didn't see anybody or anything, but so frightening, because this never happens in this area. >> again, a 13 year old girl is shot. she is at cooper hospital. i spoke with her sister, via twitter, and her sister tells me that the teenager doing well. now, right now, police still

investigating, as well as camden county prosecutor's offers, also on the scene, investigating. we're live in sicklerville, syma chowdhry, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> syma, thank you. no charges will be filed against the driver who struck a two year old boy in kensington. it happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon, on the 1800 block of east monmouth street. officers took photos that far mini-van, but the driver wasn't taken into custody. police say it was an accident. the boy is list in the stable condition at st. christopher hospital for children. coming up on 5:33, a check on the forecast, hot one today. >> it certainly looks that way. i think we will easily heat up. starting from pretty warm place anyway, nicole. happy monday first and for most everybody, coming off what hopefully was long weekends for many of you, what beautiful weather we generally had to enjoy. arthur couldn't shake us here. we ended up with real nice weather generally speaking, but now starting start to see te temperatures really rebound. after real comfortable all it

be warm days, start to notice the humidity and also the thermometer creeping up on us. storm scan3, nothing more than just little thin valley would say here, cloud cover, little speckles of green start to fire up. just representing some ground clutter in the atmosphere, not expecting any wet weather, at least in the near term. i would say, later, especially into tonight, say, maybe portions of the poconos, northwest extreme northwestern berks county could ends up with shower or storm courtesy of the moisture offer to the north and west over the great lakes. but the rest of the region, we dodge it here today. ends one high pressure generally on our side. outside, west lawn, pennsylvania, 76 degrees for you there, pretty quiet start to the day for us, but, the wind flow is straight up out of the south, or the southwest, that means, it is coming from a warm place. our entire air mass is coming on the circulation, the back edge of high pressure, so it is coming from the south. and that means, it is nice and warm, and it also be moisture rich. currently temperatures are generally into the 70s, little cooler at the poconos, as of

the 42 freeway, anyone making their commute from the jersey shore, back to work, this morning, from a beautiful fourth every july weekend, the 42 still looking nice, however, this will definitely change, as it usually does, every rush hour morning. but again, northbound, southbound, 42, moving well. no problems on the atlantic city expressway, garden state parkway. take a look at the roosevelt boulevard. southbound to northbound commuting around the schuylkill, even around broad street. no major delays because speed censors still high up to the 50's, 55 your average on the schuylkill, 95 through the construction zones, even traveling 476 at 55, but that's really around the area of route one, media swarthmore between 95 and the mid-county toll plaza beyond that northbound on the northeast extension, we do have an accident which is blocking all lanes approaching lansdale. best alternate is to take route 309. this is involving overturned tractor-trailer, as far as mass transit is concerned, out at the airport, no major problems to speak of. ukee? >> tour, thank you, time 5:35. in business news this morning, which restaurant is putting

>> i know where you'll all be later. >> possibly. >> hello. >> i know it. >> , that, jill. 5:37 now. new this morning, tragedy in southern california when lifeguard drowns trying to save a swimmer. the 32 year old lifeguard returned in to help a swimmer in newport beach when 10-foot wave knocked him underwater t took an hour and a half for other lifeguards to find his body. the swimmer did safely make it to shore. >> nicole, another swimmer lived to see another day after coming face-to-face with great white shark. the 50 year old is recovering after being attacked over the weekend. cbs correspondent with his incredible story of survival. >> i'm looking at this shark, eye to eye, just right here, and at that very moment i was fighting for my life. >> swimmer steven thought the great white was the last thing woe see. >> i had absolutely no time to react. >> he scrolled for help during

his weekly saturday morning swim, near california's manhattan beach. a shark had sung its teeth into his right side. >> just instinctively i used my right hands to grab its nose and just tried to yank it off of me. >> people warned others in the water. >> hey, get out of the water, shark! hey, get out of the water, shark. >> i looked at steve and i thought well maybe he had a heart attackment then i looked under the water and i saw the bleeding of his wounds. and i thought, well, are we next? >> witnesses say the 7-foot juvenile shark had been caught on fisherman's hook for 40 minutes before it attacked. >> by the time he cut that line loose, i was in the wrong spot at the wrong time. >> fellow swimmers and paddle boarders carried him to shore. back on dry lands, he is shaken up, but thankful to be alive. >> it was crazy how fast something can turn, how your life can just change instantly. >> he says for now, he's staying out of the ocean. cbs-3, "eyewitness news".

can did's weather service says two tornados touched down about an hour away from the couple's photo shoot. those pictures are creating whirlwind, as you might imagine, on the internet. wow, our time 5:43, let's get your traffic and weather together. katy? >> so amaze to go see that, wow, all right. storm scan3, we take a look here over the last couple of hours, pretty heavy thunderstorms actually rolling through portions of the great lakes and canada for that matter across the border. some may actually survive as it rolls our way. but generally you got to go pretty far north or west for that matter to see any of the activity from this wet weather out there. so, i think generally today, looks good. if you have outdoor plans, you can absolutely keep them. we start off, look at the time stamp, 9:00 p.m. tonight. whole day almost everybody gets in on just dry tranquil weather. we are starting to see humidity creeping up on us, definitely starting to see the heat buildingment could be the stray shower or thunderstorm firing up. now, tomorrow, another round of showers and storms will erupt. loose like it will be a lot

closer to home for pretty much everybody here. scattered in nature, could produce heavy downpours as we're seeing being pick up on the radar here, future weather anyway, and the model for tomorrow evening, for example, so, some of you may be dealing with a dicey evening drive. wednesday, another shot for more showers, if not thunderstorm, some those could proof strong or severe, but scattered against in nature. today expect sunshine. partly to mostly sunny across the board, so nice hot july, 92 degrees, day one of 90 plus. so that we drop down to 74, under partly cloudy sky with a little bit more noticeable humidity creeping up. day two, 94 degrees, day three, 90, that meets the criteria. you need three days or more of 09 or greater, for it to qualify as heatwave, by definition, but, temperatures aside, pretty hot couple of days here, the hottest happening early on obviously by the week's end here, we get you back to 86 free, more sunshine, answer again mid week storms to dodge. victoria, over to you.

>> thank you so much, katie. well, it looks like we don't have too much traffic to dodge this morning. traveling on 76, right around the area of 476, it seems to be that everybody's moving just fine. take a look. if you are headed in the eastbound direction, maneuver between 202 and center city or westbound headed out toward the 202 king of prussia area is beautiful commute so far. even as we've gotten little lighter outside, and take a look at traveling on 476, not too far away from the mid-county toll plaza, literally just hot skip -- hop skip and jump. commuting looks great. not only around here but 76 and on 95. however, if you are traveling, on the northeast extension, northbound, approaching lansdale, all lanes are blocked due to overturned tractor-trailer. your best alternate is to take route 309, and hopefully they'll get this out of here as soon as possible, so it doesn't affect that mid-county toll plaza area for anyone traveling on the blue route itself. now, as we move our way into delaware, 40 westbound, we are dealing with an accident, being blocked at school bell

and we start with breaking news, one person is dead, and another man is in critical condition, after an early morning car crash? juniata park. police tell us, the driver was going way too fast, lost control, then crashed into the wall of a city-owned building. it happened around 2:00 a.m. at whitaker avenue and east luzerne streets. good morning, everyone,
