heading toward central pennsylvania, some warnings, are already popping up with these storms as well. i do anticipate, that, we may see that severe thunderstorm watch stretching a little farther east including philadelphia. this is the area that is under the slight risk of severe weather. we have in watch for philadelphia just yet but prediction center, may extend it into our region this evening, all the conditions are there, to see potential severe weather even in our region. slight risk here in the yellow, moderate risk further west. we are talking about thunderstorms with very heavy downpours, of course, frequent lightening, gusty wind and even possibility of hail, these storms have pack a big punch through central part of pennsylvania. here's the the timing of these storms. between 7:00 and 9:00 to the north and west of philadelphia and heading toward the lehigh valley. between 9:00 and midnight philadelphia and surrounding counties seeing the showers and thunderstorms losing some of their strength, and then between midnight and 2:00 a.m. looking for lingering showers

in area of patchy fog. but earlier they hit your area the stronger they are going to be. right now we are looking at heat and humidity combining to make it feel like it is well over 95 degrees and some places, close to a hundred. right now in dover it feels like it is 99 degrees. heat advisory will continue through the state of delaware until 8:00 tonight where it will feel very close to 100 degrees. we will track your storms and i will give you more information throughout the, forecast. just a few minutes ago the philadelphia fire department released new details in the up investigation in the deadly gesner street fire. we have live team coverage today and it begins with "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter in spring garden and walt, you have just released 911 tapes. >> reporter: just moments ago, chris those 911 tapes, first calls for help in that terrible fire early saturday morning that left four children dead in southwest philadelphia, the 911 call tapes released, also fire

>> four houses are on fire. >> four houses on fire. >> yes. >> reporter: you may have seen or heard in that first phone call a man refer to a couch on fire on the porch near the house. that was initially dispatched as a rubbish fire, that brings a smaller response, and quickly upgraded two minutes later to a structural response. bottom line, the fire department says, that dispatching decision did the not have any impact on the fatalities, on the fire, and how it was for the. finally fire officials for the first time, publicly, are saying that a delayed alarm, someone trying to fight the the fire, instead of calling 911 for help may have contributed to this fire getting a huge head start, before fire fighters even got there. we will have much more on that developing part of the story when we join you at 6:00. live from the fire administration building, walt hunter, "eyewitness news". in the meantime community members and leaders are questioning the fire department's response time, and that sparked a chaotic

>> right now at 5:00 police are searching for a group of teens who attacked and robbed a taxi cabdriver in center city philadelphia it was all captured on surveillance video, inside of a 7-eleven store. these are suspect. this is video from just moments before, these young men jumped the taxi at 12th and filbert on saturday. police say that one of the suspects threw a water bottle at driver's head and stole his cell phone after he refused to give them a ride because the taxi was overcrowded. if you recognize those suspects you are asked to call police. there is new information in the roof collapse in cobbs creek. l and i inspectors blame a aging foundation for the collapse, the damaged, two to homes near 60th and spruce. two adjacent properties, also came crumbling down on monday morning, although no one was injured. inspectors have check the foundationness every home in that block to make sure that they are stable. the cause of this multi vehicle crash is now under

investigation in northeast philadelphia. chopper three over the aftermath of the crash that happened around 10:00 a.m. at grant avenue and roosevelt boulevard. at least two vehicles were involved in that crash, in word on any injuries. new at 5:00 some businesses and homeowners in montgomery county are learning what was behind the water problems they had in may. for four days more than 18,000 customers and six towns were under a boil water advisory. and today "eyewitness news" reporter jane carabao learned why. >> reporter: it is business as usual today at this main street and jeffersonville shop but owner german reyes is hurting from a loss in late may help a boil water advisory cost him thousands of dollars in business. >> twelve or 13,000. >> reporter: today at a hearing businesses and montgomery county homeowners officially learned what cause that had water crisis, heavy rain, turned up sediment and soil in the schuylkill river. >> the sediment, the the forbidty in the river was then

pull in the plant, and then blocked the filters so water could not get through to get out into the distribution system. >> reporter: president of the pennsylvania american water say the morrisville plant could not keep up with the water demand and some tanks ran dry. >> ultimately the precautionary boil water advisory was caused by the fact that we had, a zero or negative pressure in parts of the system. >> reporter: she emphasizes that water quality was never compromised but that terminology is hard for some to accept. >> this is uncontaminated water, this is what our residents expect. when this, looks like chocolate milk, that is contaminated. >> reporter: state representative mike verb is referring to the number of complaints he received about brown water even before the the water advisory was issued. >> the fact that it is brownies concerned to them. for us we know that the water, was meeting all standards. >> reporter: now water company is planning improvement in an effort to make sure this crisis doesn't happen again. also today american water

we now know the name of the mother arrested in new york for abandoning her baby on the subway platform. twenty year-old, woman reportedly told investigators that she is homeless and she felt she could no longer care for her ten month-old daughter. just before noon she was seen pushing the baby stroller off the train and on to a platform. she then stayed on the train as it pulled out of the station. we are told that baby is in good condition tonight. and every summer we hear the same advice if you want to save on that energy bill turn off thermostat. >> as three on your side consumer reporter jim donovan shows us there are more other comfortable ways to trim costs and keep cool. >> reporter: summer temperatures rise cranking up

air conditioning seems like a great idea until energy bill arrives. on days when mercury sores the department of energy suggest using ceiling fans to circulate air. planned meals that don't involve the oven which could heat up the home and make air conditioning work harder. instead try grill outdoors or using stove top to ventilate hot air out of the kitchen. home appliances create extra heat when they run so only run the dishwasher when it is full and think about air drying dishes instead of the using heated dry option. in the bathroom showers and bats can also cause excess heat and humidity in the home so use a fan to remove it. look around the house for devices that generate a lot of heat like lamps, computers, televisions and washers and dryers. these should be kept away from thermostats, which possible to avoid tricking tonight to pumping more cool air into a room then necessary. >> wow. >> if you have central air be sure to replace filters on a regular basis. dirty filters will have your

philadelphia no issue but parts of the montgomery and bucks county and mercer county we had a few storms rumbling through with our skies cam three looking at our beautiful center city, it is hazy, and later we will get stormy. national weather service and also severe storm center prediction center, did indicate that severe storms are possible tonight so now we have a watch in effect. on storm scan three we are tracking a line of showers and storms, some of which are severe and are moving east at 45 miles an hour. in that speed they will be in the delaware valley this evening. philadelphia between eight or nine or 10:00 o'clock tonight. we have a severe thunderstorm watch posted for the entire region from the poconos, wildwood and southern delaware until 11:00 o'clock tonight for possibility of of course, downpours, frequent cloud to ground lightening, wind and even hail, the tornado risk would be low with these storms , and that is good news. damaging wind are a good

possibility in some spots. we are seeing warm temperatures, humidity, front creating lift in the atmosphere and creating these severe storms. in philadelphia 94. ninety-one in allentown. ninety-one millville. ninety-three in wilmington with the humidity it feels like it is close to hundred degrees in the state of delaware as that front gets closer more showers and storms. temperatures around 90 degrees and until this front clears we will not be in the clear as far as the sky is concerned and the humidity levels, it will be much more comfortable for thursday, a northerly win, lower humidity, deep blue skies and temperatures, that are in the 80's. more of the canadian influence for thursday, and for friday as high pressure is park right to the north of us, looking really nice even into saturday. so for our forecast for tonight, showers, some storms, some of which could be severe, especially early in the evening and it will be steam which an overnight low of 75 degrees. during the the day wednesday partly sunny, scattered showers and storms,

i'm chris may with the day's top stories for you, the philadelphia fire department is defending its response to the fire, on gesner street, a blaze that killed four young children, early saturday morning. today officials shared some desperate 911 calls for help and also revealed that the resident tried to fight flames

tonight, so, please stay tuned we will have updates throughout this newscast and, of course, the evening, for now, back to you. >> the kathy, thanks. now 59:30 a triple shooting during a home invasion leaves one man dead and two men injured. as syma chowdhry tells us tonight one of those victims moved to the area to escape gun violence. >> he didn't deserve what happened to him. >> reporter: carmen tyson thomas is visibly upset after visiting her nephew josh johnson in the hospital. he was wounded in the shooting that leaves one man dead, and another man is injured. bristol township police were called to the scene shortly before 1:00 this morning. the shooting took place inside of a home on the 900 block of winter drive, emotions were high after family members of the man who died showed up to the scene looking for more information. johnson was shot in the head, and another injured victim shot in the back. they were taken to the hospital. carmen is worried that johnson won't pull through, she says doctors told them, he may be

brain dead. everybody loved him, everybody loved him. >> reporter: friends say johnson has been in the wheelchair for the past few years after being shot during a robbery in philadelphia. this woman says that he moved to bristol to get away from the violence. >> getaway from all of the drama and stuff like that and i don't know, like somebody got it out for him. >> whoever did this to him, it is not right. he is a good hearted person. he loves everybody. >> reporter: police are continuing to investigate along with the bucks county d.a.'s office. so far, no arrests have been made n bristol syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". police have identified the man who died as 24 year-old tie roane moss of levittown. philadelphia police need your help finding two robbery suspects, two men armed with guns robbed a met the tro pcs store in the 2200 block of north broad street on june 10th. police say one suspect opened fire, and then they took money from the cash register and employees, and customers.

in weather we have heat, humidity and we have some storms to talk about, our live neighborhood network takes us down the shore, where it is quiet, we have some blue skies, and some warm temperatures, even in the 80's down the shore, inland temperatures in the 90's this afternoon. on storm scan three we are looking at dry conditions for the most part, despite a few strong to severe storms earlier this afternoon. this is line that we are concern with, it can extend from northern new york, through central pennsylvania, all the way down through west virginia and virginia, moving east at 40 to 45 miles an hour, if you look real close a little bow echo here in the precipitation pushing forward indicating some wind damage as you approaching 81 here along the the maryland, pennsylvania border. all this moving east and that is why, we have a severe thunderstorm watch that has been issued for the entire region through 11:00 tonight, frequent downpours, lightening and, of course, potential for damaging wind and hail for

this. kate will have more on the storms in detail later on in this forecast. ninety-four in philadelphia. ninety-three in wilmington. with the humidity in the state of delaware we had a heat advisory throughout afternoon, continuing for next hour or so for those feels like readings to be close to 100 degrees because of that intense humidity. culprit thinks cold front moving across the region showers and storms tonight, another chance during the day tomorrow and when that clears, it is really nice, thursday low humidity northerly wind partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 80's. it will stay pleasant as high pressure dominates our weather for friday with sun and clouds, temperatures staying in the 80's, really more comfortable and more seasonal for this time of the year. tonight some showers, some thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, it stays very humid out there, temperatures 75 overnight, with our wind westerly at ten to 5 miles an hour. during the day on wednesday partly sun which scattered showers and storms, again, keeping an eye out for

potential for severe weather. high temperature for wednesday 90 and that would make it our second heat wave in less than one week. once that front clears, it is going to change everything. on the exclusive seven day forecast, and shore cast, thursday, friday, saturday, all look great, sunday, starts to get more humid, hotter, high temperatures in the upper 80's with late day showers and storms. same goes for monday and even chance of the thunderstorm on tuesday, with a high temperature of 86 degrees. so, this evening, the threat of severe weather will be continuing into the the late night hours, something that usually happens, this time of the year, in case here, kate is here to talk more about it in the digital center, hi kate. >> we have been tracking this threat all day long. it moved across ohio valley earlier this afternoon with damaging thunderstorms and number of tornado warnings that have been extended in to western pennsylvania. lets look closer at these storms. let's focus on this area that is starting to push east across central pennsylvania. of course, kathy mentioned this at the beginning of the

forecast. i want to look at this area right here. this right here is what we call a bow echo, we will zoom in and you can see it right there. notice this boeing out in the shape of the archer's bow. when you see this it is an indication that there is cooling happening ahead of the squall line and wind start to accelerate in this one area of boeing out. strongest wind can usually be found in the area that is boeing out, we can moving through the the creek area right now. win gusts over 70 miles an hour, as this squall line moves through and bow echo is just a separate part of the squall line that is what we are seeing right new moving through central pennsylvania. they last three to six hours. we can expect this to potentially be intact as it moves in our area later this evening and tonight. quick look at our storm factor warm moist air moving from the south, we have got also a strong cold front moving through and very active jet stream, even jet streak overhead, which is enhancing storm development, storms in place earlier died out which means atmosphere is still very

unstable and we have got a lot of juice, for these storms as they continue to move east. very hot and very humid outside. as storms continue to move in our area lets time them out for you. future weather by 7:00 p.m. we expect these storms to make their way in the lancaster county area as we continue towards 8:00 that is when storms move in the area, and especially just in our western suburbs. in chester, montgomery counties around 8:00p in m keep an eye on that and advancing forward one more frame by 9:00 p.m. we will start to have move over delaware river and while i do expect them to weaken moving into new jersey once the sunnies down we do still have risk for damaging wind, heavy rain and frequent cloud to ground lightening with these storms. reporting from the digital center i'm meteorologist kate billow for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". on the healthwatch tonight, more than 5 million people in this country are living with alzheimer's. >> now as cbs reporter alfonso van marsh shows us british researchers say they have made a big step towards developing

a test that might predict the disease. >> reporter: vivian hill and her sisters lost their mother, mary to alzheimer's disease. >> it is horrible that once you are diagnosis it is a slow horrible journey. >> reporter: researchers at kings college london say they are developing a blood test that can help families coping with the disease. they have found ten proteins in the blood that could reveal early changes in brain related to alzheimer's before the patient has symptoms. scientists hope their findings will eventually lead to patients being put on drugs early to delay or even stop the disease. >> you take a drug and in effect you would have to clinical symptoms to prevent it even if the disease, had already started in your brain. >> reporter: researchers analyzed blood samples from more than a thousand people, they are able to predict with 87 percent accuracy whether people with mild memory and thinking problems would develop alzheimer's within a year. many patient was dementia are

>> four houses are on fire. >> breaking news right now, desperate calls for help, as philadelphia fire department releasing the 911 calls from saturday's deadly gesner street fire. >> also breaking news right now, at 6:00 we are tracking a storm threat, this is a storm scan three that shows you a line of strong thunderstorms that are heading our way right now and we have a severe thunderstorm watch in effect. good evening, i'm chris may. i'm jessica dean. lets go over to meteorologist kathy orr where they tracks these storms. >> line of showers and thunderstorms moves towards the east. they are moving east at about 45 miles an hour, and, with that speed we are anticipating this line of storms will be in the philadelphia area between about 8:00 and 10:00 o'clock tonight. severe thunderstorm warning in effect for central pennsylvania has been extended for the philadelphia area. look at this over a thousand strikes, between south port, williamsport and down to the
