south through carlisle, pennsylvania and all of thinks moving towards the delaware valley. throughout the early evening things will be quiet but once we get into eight, nine, ten, 11:00 o'clock hour those storms are moving through. severe thunderstorm watch is posted until 11:00 for the region for downpours, frequent cloud to ground lightening and damaging wind. these storms do have a history of wind gusting in excess of 70 miles an hour. now, this evening we're expecting between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. strong to severe storms well to the north and west, and philadelphia and surrounding counties between ten and midnight. and we will have more later in the broadcast, chris. >> okay, kathy, thanks. we have storm damage that will be of interest to you right now. just into "eyewitness news", chopper three, live over east main street in moorestown, new jersey. we're seeing a tree fell, knocking out some wires, and right now east main street,

from marter avenue, to stan wick road is closed in both directions in moorestown. this noise the weather related, not weather related after all, and only a few people have been left without power. breaking news, fire fighters are responding to allegations that they did not respond fast enough to the gesner street fire. excerpt of the 911 calls are giving us new details about the response time line. "eyewitness news", reporter walt hunter is live in spring garden with new information tonight, walt. >> reporter: jessica, the fire department press conference here comes about 24 hours, after a community demonstration, claiming that fire fighters were working too slow to respond to the deadly fire saturday morning. fire department here in the last her or so releasing 911 tapes and new information that shows, in their opinion, fire fighters, on the scene, quickly, in fact in, some cases, in seconds. first call to 911 about

the deadly fire that killed four children came from the neighbor reporting a fire on the porch. >> tell me what happened out there. >> somebody's couch is on fire, out on the porch. >> someone is on the way. >> just over two minutes later a second call. >> what is at dress of your emergency please. >> reporter: with with dispatchers initially classifying the fire as rubbish rather than a dwelling fire owning a single engine company was sent but within two minutes the call was upgraded to a full first alarm assignment called a box bringing additional equipment. >> box, 6594, 65th street and wood land avenue, fire is reported, 65th and gesner

street, a dwelling. >> reporter: fire officials say with units arriving within minutes, and, in some cases, within seconds, the decision to dispatch, as a rubbish fire initially rather than a dwelling dispatch made no difference. >> a fire is a fire is a fire and when we get a call for a fire, we will respond regardless of whether it is a rubbish fire, a house fire. >> reporter: finally officials believe that the fire got a head start because someone tried to fight it, before dialing 911 but by the time units arrived several is homes were engulfed. fire officials would not speculate, how long that fire might have been burning before the first 911 call was received, and as of right now they say they have no new information on what might have started the fire. live at fire headquarters i'm walt hunter, cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

they are waiting for liberian ambassador who should be here from washington d.c. within the hour. now we're told he will meet with those city officials and meet with community leaders and he will go to the hospital where some of the injury victims are from. yes, from the fatal fire over the weekend. he is also expected to talk to the media. we will have more tonight. it is latees from southwest philadelphia, i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". steve, thank you. today l and i inspectors told us an aging foundation caused two homes to collapse near 60th and spruce in cobbs creek. they came crumbling down monday morning, chopper three over key brings today. no one was injured but six people displaced. inspectors checked foundationness every home in the 1600 block to make sure they are stable. this just into "eyewitness news" a serious accident at

fourth and spring garden streets in philadelphia, several vehicles, were involved, one of them on its side. the extent of the injuries here on the scene, it is unclear. well, new at 6:00 o'clock tonight, saving atlantic city. >> as "eyewitness news", new jersey reporter cleve bryan tells us one lawmakers says he has a plan to reverse the shore town's losing hand. >> reporter: over 18 years waitressing at show show both melony gillespy missed plenty of holidays to keep her job. now casino is closing and 2100 workers received layoff notices. >> it is devastate to go think, i don't know how to take care of her after the 31st of august. >> reporter: caesars entertainment is accused of purposely shrinking market to maximize profit at expense of cutting jobs. it previously sold the atlantic club and acquired rights to the develop shore isn't going to reopen them as casinos. same could be done at show boat since it is closing since being one of five casinos with

the gross operating profit. >> they are at the front of profitability in the city. so closing doesn't make sense. >> reporter: new jersey assemblyman chris brownies sponsoring three bills to regulate sales of casinos. one bill allows the company to own two casinos in atlantic city. other two is stopping the practice of casino companies selling properties to non-casino properties that some fear will happen to the show boat if a buyer comes forward it will be unconsciousnable if caesars refuses to accept the offer and chooses instead to further limit its competition. >> reporter: talks are escalating about putting a referendum on the ballot to expand gambling in north jersey. steve sweeney tells me he is only on board if revenue gets divert todd atlantic city. in atlantic city, i'm cleve bryan, cws3 "eyewitness news". two young girls are expected to be okay after they were hit by a car a short time ago in philadelphia chopper three over seventh and lehigh,

police tell us that the car, hit a septa bus, and then careened into several other vehicles, and then the girls. police suspect the driver of that car, was drunk. police in bucks county are investigating a possible home invasion that ended with one man dead and two others injured. "eyewitness news" on the scene in the 900 block of winter drive-in bristol township, police found one man dead and another man with the gunshot wound to the head, and a third man shot in the back. investigators say there was no sign of forced entry and in weapon was found. that shooter remains at large. we are keeping a close eye on harrisburg tonight state senate could vote on a new cigarette tax to help cash strapped philadelphia school district. if the bill becomes law smoke hours purchase cigarettes in the city would pays an extra $2 tax per pack. that could generate 83 million-dollar. no word on governor corbett's plan with that bill, if it the passes the senate. well, they went without

montgomery county businesses and homeowners learned what caused their water crisis back in may; for four days, six towns were under a boil water advisory. east norriton, lower providence, west norriton, worchester, whitpain and white marsh were all affect. today at a hearing official was pennsylvania american water told crowd that heavy rain churned up sediment and soil in the schuylkill river. they say water plant could not keep up with demand and some water tanks ran dry. pennsylvania american water is implementing changes to make sure that the same thing does not happen again. it looks like land line phones are getting closer to stinks. a government study found four

on storm scan three we have a few renegade storms that moved through our northern and western suburbs, they were severe, they have moved out. this is a main line of storms, that is moving east ward at a clip of 45 to 50 miles an hour, and it is expect to accelerate and be in the philadelphia area, between about eight and ten tonight. we can see all of the lightening associated with this thousands of lightening strikes and also damaging we talk about this at 5:00 o'clock hour. this is bow echo indicate ago this strong wind are pushing, towards the the east, creating this bow on the radar and that is a signature on a doppler radar of damaging winds through maryland and that is pushing eastward. we have over 1300 lightening strikes just within this line of storms, and that is expected to hold together, into the evening, in the philadelphia area we have severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 11:00 p.m. for the entire region, of course with heavy downpours, frequent lightening and damaging wind. our main storm threats, will continue, through the late

night hours, but the the good news is, the tornado threat will be low with this round of storms. so, with the heat and humidity comes the the storms, more heat during the day tomorrow, right now in philadelphia still 93. millville 90. ninety-two in wilmington. ninety-two in dover. down the shore temperatures in the 80's even though that ocean water temperature is 20 degrees cooler. we are going to be moving through by tomorrow, afternoon, still a chance of showers and storms then, and once it clears the coast, fair weather high pressure builds in from the west, we have a clockwise flow around it, it will bring in dryer conditions and a lower threat for any type of precipitation, just looking at a partly sunny skies for thursday and for friday, we don't even have another chance for showers and storms until late sunday. hopefully you can squeak out the weekend before those move in. tonight, steamy, stormy, lows in the 70's, highs tomorrow still around 90. our second heat wave in less than a week and on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven day forecast and shore cast looking better for

south street at new pop up garden, feels like you are on the island, latest here from cbs-3 mobile weather lab i'm meteorologist justin drabick now back to you in the studio. thanks, so much justin. unfortunately i have to open up this report with an accident and notice vehicle is crushed into the guardrail on i-95 southbound approaching that 676 on ramp to continue westbound. so, definitely in the a great situation at all, folks are slowing down to take a who at. that as we look at our speed sensors 12 is your average on the vine street expressway, westbound is delay almost the entire length, you but we are improving he have so slightly. traveling westbound on the schuykill expressway, earlier vehicle fire approaching pa turnpike has been cleared but we are still dealing with speed sensors in the 20's in that area also we have an accident on i-95 north bound right around platt bridge an overturn vehicle accident in the outer drive, be careful of that, in that area or at the airport we have two hour delays due to wind.
