got a lot to talk about, even some over night construction for the weekends. we'll get to that in just a moment. >> torrey, thank you. more on developing story from fairhill. homicide detectives are gathering clues, in two overnight murder investigations. >> we are told that the incident happened less than a half mile apart. "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer is at police headquarters right now to tell you more, nicole? >> detective on the scene trying to figure out what went went down. set the stage for that first incident that fatal beating, 2800 block of north fairhill street. police found 53 year old man laying in pool of his own blood on the sidewalk every his own home. we're told he suffered severe blunt force tram a to his head, died short time later. no word on motive. but there are reports of male seen running from the victim

possibly with metal object in his hand. 2900 block of waterloo street, double shooting there, two men , taken to temple university hospital in critical condition. having suffered gunshot wounds to the torso, shortly thereafter, 37 year old was pronounced dead shortly before 2:00. >> went to find several surveillance cameras in the area where the shooting took place. so, hopefully, these cameras recorded something that could help with us our investigation. there at the top, homicide detectives searching for suspects as well as motive, crime scene personnel go ahead and process the scene, also told that that fatal beating, were some witnesses, currently being questioned by detectives. >> that's the latest live outside police headquarters, nicole brewer, cbs-3, "eyewitness news".

>> thank you. >> three year old boy hit by car is in critical condition this morning. the 53 jerold driver is under arrest, suspected of driving while impaired. it happened in north philadelphia, in the 2800 block of north fourth street. family members tell us that child is jimmy rodriguez, at st. christopher's hospital. the driver did stop. police tell us, he's been charged with dui. and, detectives are questioning a suspect after a woman said she was sexually assaulted in broad daylight near the community college of philadelphia. that woman told police the men attack her around 7:00 last night, it happened on the 400 block of north 16th street in the city's spring garden section. they found police searching for evidence in the woods near the college's child development center. working right now to find out more about the man police arrested. 5:33, we start things off with kate. >> i yesterday ended up being one of those days where we saw scattered showers and storms, and depending on location you

got clobbered with soaking rain. i want to take you back in time. what happened yesterday, all the way back to about this same time yesterday. 5:30 in the morning, we start today see little pocket of heavy thunderstorms develop over the chesapeake, then rolled over kent county, brought in heavy thunderstorms across atlantic and cape may, another round sort of fired up on the tail end, there kept ongoing. >> some probably didn't see drop of rain, but that is how it goes sometimes. with these systems. now, it was all courtesy after very sluggish front, which continues to try to retreat. and it is starting to do so. but look at the rain amounts we pick up. over four and a half inches, pick up half inch in cape may, list goes on, sort of inbetween, and i mean, depending on where you were, you either got nothing, or you got clobbered. it was just that localized, and sometimes it is just how it goes. 72 degrees currently outside

county, heading out for its trenton, delaware county, basically, the entire 95 interstate. right? >> as we move along now, take a look at 309, 309, not too far from the pa turnpike, pa turnpike looks good, 39 in the clear. as we jump over to the maps, notice that over all our speed censors look great. it is not just in your western suburbs, but, since we're here, 55, 422, 55, as well on 202, and traveling on the schuylkill still nice and green out there. we do, however, have downed wires, closing limekiln pike at butler avenue. best alternate picker town road. this is from few days lag we had the big storm. no delays however for mass transit. ukee? >> torrey, thank you. happening today, students at penn state university will find out if their tuition is going up for the upcoming school year. penn state's boards of trustees finance committee approved a tuition increase, and annual budget for the coming year yesterday. the budget increases by nearly 3%. that means tuition would jump up to 450,000 per semester. both measures will go before the full trustee board today

parental controls. good news for movie lovers. itunes, extras, is expanding. the service offers extra content when you buy a movie for digital download, like directors commentary behind the scenes footage, and deleted scenes, previously. tunes extras only available on the pc and app. with the new upgrade it is available across all other apple products. and, taco bell is beefing up its meals with protein, custom letters get double portion of steak and chicken with reduced fat sour cream and real cheddar cheese. new menu launches, and taco bell says people are really looking for diet food, they want food that gives them energy, each dish has 20 grams of protein, and fewer than 500 calories just looking at it, i'm hungry. >> at 5:38 in the morning, think we could all deal with

woman as truck broke down on the side of the road watch she found under the hood was quite a shocker. take a look at this. she found 20-pound, 7-foot python, staring right back at her. hello there. police believe the snake is someone's pet who slithered into the car to get warm. animal control removed the snake, and are now searching for the owner. back in the day, it was tying nerve your tank. >> what? >> it was the thing. i think it was either so or exxon, because they changed over. >> snake in the tank. >> ugh, scary. talk about hot spot. yellowstone national park says it is temporarily shutting down a road because he personally melt philadelphia. see the pictures of the oil bubble up. the park said extreme heat has caused thick oil to bubble to the surface t damaged the blacktop, made that road unsafe for driving. fire hole lake drive is a popular scenic road. that road is expected to be closed for several days while repairs are made.

violent night in philadelphia's fairhill neighborhood leaves two men dead and third in critical condition. >> although these incidents don't appear to be related they've happened just blocks apart. "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us now at police headquarters on more on this developing story. nicole, good morning.

>> good morning, yes, at this hour, police are still searching for suspects, and a motive surrounding these two very violent crimes in north philadelphia. crimes that left two men dead and one person critically wounded. >> in north philadelphia, fatal beating and fatal beating, about half mile apart. the first incident happened shortly after 11:00 in the 2800 block of north fairhill street. there 53 year old man was beep end to death, having suffered blunt force trauma to his head. >> he was laying in a pool of blood coming from his head. >> no word on motive, but there are reports of a male seen running from that victim, possibly with a metal object. then, just after midnight, in the 2900 block of waterloo street, double shooting. >> upon police arrival, they found, two victims on the highway. a 37 year old male, suffering from two gunshot wounds to the torso, and 21 year old male, suffering from two
