and, on "eyewitness news" at 6:00. well, a small chemical explosion has injured a person at a pharmaceutical company in new jersey, today, chopper three over the scene this morning at johnston matthews in paulsboro. company says a process line, broke, which initiated chemical reaction. now that reaction, caused the explosion, and that happened near three workers. one person was treated at the scene after coming in contact with hydrochloric acid. violent night in north philadelphia's fair hill neighborhood leaves two men dead and third person in critical condition. five three-year old miguel, was beaten outside his home in the 2800 block of north fair hill street. the second call came in around midnight. office's arrived at north waterloo street to find a 36 year-old man and 21 year-old

man with gunshot wound. thirty-six year-old died at the hospital. >> fortunately we did find several, private, surveillance cameras, in the area, where the shooting took place, so hopefully these cameras recorded something to help us with our investigation. >> reporter: police are searching for suspects and a motive, meanwhile witnesses from that fatal beating are being questioned. in the race for pennsylvania governor, norristown is the latest stop on the campaign trail for democrat tom wolf. he questioned republican governor tom corbett's leadership during a budget process today. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has more on that stop. >> reporter: it was politics and baseball bats in montgomery county friday, democrat tom wolf, toured a successful baseball bat company in norristown. after touting his manufacturing plan, designed to provide incentive toss companies to hire middle class workers he took some questions from the press starting with some humor while remaining non-committal on several issues.

>> you don't want to talk about baseball bats. >> reporter: from bats to budget, wolf has been criticized for not releasing more specifics into what his own state budge without look like, criticism from republicans is one thing but we asked the democratic candidate if voters deserve more detail. he wouldn't discuss exactly what his budge without look like but did discuss how wow shrink pennsylvania's $1.6 billion budget deficit. >> there is ample opportunity for having revenue to make a budget work for programs that people in pennsylvania want. >> reporter: namely he says closing tax loop holes, expanding medicaid and taxing the shale industry, a opposition to governor tom corbett. he says deficit can be closed by reaching the state's pension system, something he criticized democratic and republican lawmakers alike for failing to do. >> it is time to stop talking around the edges and inact meaningful reform. >> reporter: he want new state employees to enroll in 401k style plans instead of traditional pensions while wolf acknowledges the need for reform he was vague on his solution. >> there air lot of good plans

"eyewitness news", new jersey reporter, cleve bryan, was there. >> reporter: checking on his new home in mantoloking, steve remembers what sand difficult to his last house. >> it is just completely tore tonight pieces. >> reporter: in all 100 homes were wiped away or had to be demolish, because of sandy. only a fraction on has been rebuilt so far but something very big just got underway which could change that. construction began this week on the three and a half mile sea wall in mantoloking and brick township. >> we feel that this will give people confidence, we do.

friday, with big changes, getting underway. as a matter of fact remember pol air vortex of the winter. it appears to be a similar summertime version and it ace arriving next week in that seven day. meteorologist kate billow is here to explain it, kate. >> polar vortex a term that gained popularity last winter and new people on social media talking about the return of it next week. is that the case? let's start off with what is happening next week. i'm showing you japan because this is circulation of typhoon, that hit japan last week. strong enough to really imbalance the polar regions and circulation and sending this very cold air, mass south into the northern plains of the great lakes. also a big ridge of high pressure means western half of the country will be very hot next week but we're talking about the the cold. this is a very similar look to what we saw this winter with these cold pockets of air centered over eastern half of the country. with that in mind lets talk about what is polar vortex, always been a thing but it got more popular this winter.

the circulation that resides in the pol air region. north and south pole. very strong in the winter. much weaker in the summer. the actual polar vortex does not come south and invade u.s. but any disruption can bring cold air to the south. so while temperatures in our area next tuesday will be generally still in the 80's look at these numbers. chicago 67 degrees, the high, next tuesday, michigan, 64 degrees. these numbers are about 20 degrees below average. so even if it is not actual polar vortex invading it will be unseasonably chilly. i'm meteorologist kate billow for cbs-3 eyewitness knees. cup cake fans were crushed to hear the news crumbs bakery had gone out of business this week. there is hope of the resurrection but the bigger question is has the cup cake craze fizzled. cbs's don champion went looking for answers. >> doors are locked and lights out in crumbs bakery across the the country, the once booming chain, grew too far

developing right now at 6:00 a mysterious death a boyfriend of the television star, is found dead, inside of his philadelphia hotel room. the question tonight is what happened? this man was the boyfriend of the glee cast member, becca tobin. good evening i'm chris may. i'm jessica dean. a short time ago we have learned the autopsy shows no clear cause of death.
