88 degrees. little bit of the breeze but lots of sunshine still. lets see we have at the present time. have you notice that had big full moon outside or opened your window and looked outside, unbelievable the we will talk more about that. storm scan three you can see nothing in our area. there are a few clouds off towards the the state college area but otherwise it looks like a nice start to the day and it will be a very nice finish to the day too. 71 degrees in philadelphia. sixty-seven in trenton. 69 degrees in wilmington. cooler in the poconos at 62 and along the shore we have temperatures in the middle 60's. the dew points are higher then they were yesterday. slightly more humid to take. it will be increasingly humid over next couple of days. really not that bad at 62 degrees right now. you can see we are dealing with the super moon, this is a full moon this morning, the the moon is closest point to earth so it business 30 percent brighter and we have more coming on the 12th which is coming up tonight. the tenth of august, and

september the ninth. so lots of things to look forward to and skies will be cleared too. we have temperatures that will be getting just about to 87, 88 degrees. it looks like a nice day. we will check out that seven day forecast. i think you'll be surprised at some temperatures we will fine on that because we could be fining them cooler then what we have become accustomed to. this computer model wants to say there is a sprinkle and it says, again at 2:00 this afternoon. we will justin to see, do you see a sprinkle? probably in the but one of the computer models says, maybe. we will talk more about some much better chances of picking up showers and thunderstorms on the seven kay forecast, nicole. >> carol, thank you. a man is in critical condition this morning after stabbing in southwest philadelphia police were called to the 2,000 block of south 65th street near king sessing after new just after 12:30. that victim was rushed to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania where he is recovering this morning.

so far no arrests have been made. unwelcome news in the struggling shore town, there is now word that trump plaza hotel and casino may soon shut down. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones has details from atlantic city. >> reporter: we are still waiting to hear back directly from official from his trump plaza to confirm that what we have been hearing but right now we are told that warning notices may go out to employees here as early as monday. >> i have beg back and forth between being depressed and angry all day. >> reporter: new jersey state senator jim wheel an tells me credible sources are telling him that come september unless a buyer steps in or there is some kind of dramatic financial change trump plaza will be shutting down and laying off roughly 1,000 employees. >> i'd love to stand here and tell people particularly employees, don't worry, we will fight, we will save your jobs and i would be lying anyway you cut it. it is not a good day for atlantic city and not good news for our whole economy.

>> reporter: he indicates the closing of trump plaza would follow the down turn for atlantic city casinos since pennsylvania and other nearby states legalized gambling. robert gross is a publisher of the global gaming business magazine and says trump plaza has been lowest performing casino in atlantic city and he too has been told trump plaza is closing. >> they are sending out warning notices next week which is a federal requirement when you lay people off you have to give them 60 days notice and that is what they are doing next week. >> reporter: you heard this directly from people within trump plaza. >> not trauma plaza but trump organization, corporate structure. >> reporter: source tells "eyewitness news" thinks not unexpect but it may in the mean trump plaza will definitely close. in any case we are still waiting to hear back directly from officials here in side trump plaza reporting from atlantic city, todd quinones, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, closure of trump plaza is not a certainty but atlantic city trouble extend

beyond that hotel. the atlantic club casino closed its doors in club. tropicana and caesars teamed up to buy it and then shut it down. show boat casino was set to close august 31st and revel is in bankruptcy for the second time. its future is up in the air. at it peak in 2006 gambling revenue totaled $5.2 billion. the last year revenue was half that amount, only $2.86 billion. well, now to the latest in the rising tensions in the middle east, palestinian officials claim hundreds of israeli air strikes have kill at least 100 people and wounded 600 others. israel accused the palestinians of launching no fewer than 500 rockets from fast adjust this week. now that resulted in several injuries but no deaths. despite international calls for a cease-fire there appears to be no end in sight to military operations against those militants in the gaza strip. well from around the the world to right here in philadelphia, the conflict is

cause for concern. demonstrators rallied in philadelphia on friday. friday back home, two philadelphia rallies pushing support for both sides, echoed in center city outside the the israeli consulate. >> this is not an israeli issue but a humanitarian issue. >> what they are doggies genocide and not a war. >> reporter: both side cited human rights violations, both sides calling the other terrorist, both sides placing blame. drexel political science professor william rosenberg says that the conflict is fueled by the extreme wing of both sides. >> you have the the more offensive israelis and offensive in terms of wanting to project power and they will say we will not just tolerate this. then you have the offensive palestinians the ones that want to take out israel. >> it is 5:07. new information, this morning that actor and comedian tracie morgan has filed a lawsuit over last months crash on the new jersey turnpike. minister again is suing wal-mart for negligence saying

they should have known driver of their tractor trailer kevin roper was awake for more than 24 hours. roamer has pleaded not guilty to death by auto and some other charges. a federal transportation report says that roper was on the the job for 13 and a half hours when he rear ended morgan's limo van. jamie mack was killed in that wreck. so far neither wal-mart nor morgan are commenting. a crash involving several vehicle unless southampton burlington county sent a child to the hospital. chopper three over route 206 near 38, two vehicles and suv together a camper crashed there leaving debris all over the road. injured child was flown to a hospital, there is no word right now on that child's condition. biggest name in basketball is now heading home, after taking his talents to south beach for four seasons and winning two championships, lebron james is going back where it all started. cbs correspondent jericka duncan shows us cleveland is clearing off the thrown for the king's return.

is just brighter, right. >> i'm shocked that chopper three could get so close, i had no idea it could go to that elevation. >> cutting edge technology. >> you don't need anything except a deck chair to see this thing because you look at this super moon, it is absolutely gorgeous. we will see it again tonight. few more clouds in the sky night. it is out there. it looks absolutely terrific. kind of a fun thing to look at. we will get another one in august and we will find a couple others scattered around. so looks nice out there this morning, the temperatures are pretty mild. we have 71 degrees at the airport in philadelphia. temperatures are circling philadelphia with the 60's. we have 69 degrees wilmington and in reading. sixty-six allentown. trenton at 67 degrees. right the at the shore we have temperatures in the 60's. so enjoy those, although, this is saying they're in the 70's. maybe if you get close enough to the beach we are looking at temperatures in the 70's right

now but you'll be finding them not getting that much higher today. we will be staying right around 80 degrees later this afternoon and ocean is warming up. i know week before last it was nice and warm. last weekend it was really coal. we saw it kind of merky water as a result of that colder air, churning stuff up from the bottom of the ocean but i think we have better conditions, as we go through the next couple of days. we've got ocean temperatures as we go through lewis, delaware 66 degrees. atlantic city area and beach haven, we've got temperatures from 66 to 74 degrees. we can enjoy those kind of temperatures in the water. storm scan three, a few clouds out here. i don't think we will find anything off to the west just marginally unstable enough that, could they see a brief shower? it is possible, but probably not all that likely. but most of it staying completely dry today. we have chances for some very strong storms, coming up, they will be likely, more likely on

the monday, tuesday timetable. so, with that front that left our area we are looking at temperatures today that will be in the 80's which is nice as high pressure builds in here. tomorrow we are in the 80's again, we will get some sun, clouds and we will start to pick up a chance of the shower or thunderstorm. those chances get better and storms get stronger by the time we get to that monday, tuesday, timetable, as the the front comes through here and temperatures will eventually be dropping down, as well. so we will get a summer break temperature wise coming up. so, this computer model, it says, okay, a sprinkle in one or two spots, not sure if that will happen at all. tomorrow though you have better chance west that but still not a huge chance. that will be coming in on that monday, tuesday time period, so by sunday evening off to the west, are there a couple of showers? it is possible. air mass is just getting more and more unsettled and we will keep it that way through monday with chances of those stronger storms and that may

continue as well on tuesday, 80 at the shore today. it looks nice. low risk of rip current. same thing tomorrow but make sure you swim where life guards are and we've got temperatures in the poconos that are going to be nice over the next couple of days, they will be in the lower 80's. so weather to enjoy for everybody. so if we can get this to advance, i know they are screaming in the control room, we've got temperatures in the 80's at this point with sunshine today. so expect these wind to be out of the south at five to 10 miles an hour, i'm not listening, 68 degrees, partly cloudy and mild and our seven day forecast, we have temperatures maybe as high as 90 on monday but what you'll note about monday and tuesday the chance of these stronger storms coming in. by wednesday, still a chance but look at how much cooler it gets. we will get down to the lower 80's by mid and ladder part of the week. >> i didn't hear a thing, carol. keep on talking. in the healthwatch this morning researchers have found a link between hot outdoor temperatures and kidney

stones. a study by doctors at the children's hospital of philadelphia found daily temperatures rise, more patients reported seeing kidney stones. researchers caution kidney stone cases in general have increased over the last 30 years. the exact cause of the ailment is unknown but changes in diet and fluid in take can increase that risk. also on cbs-3 health wash this morning, premature delivery is a worry for many pregnant with man but researchers in europe say a non-invasive test can help predict an early baby. cbs news correspondent tina krause reports from london. >> reporter: this mother emilie, treasures every moment with her three-year old son, finally, she nearly lost him when he was born three months early weighing just 2 pounds. >> when i was six months pregnant and i went if to labor, i literally had no idea it was possible. >> reporter: researchers in imperial college/london say a simple urine test on pregnant

beautiful if you get a chance to look out and take a look at it, if not you will see it tomorrow morning as well. there may be a couple clouds, tomorrow morning but you'll be able to see it. it is bright and beautiful. we hardly need lights with the moon as bright as. that we are down in margate and you can see ocean coming in on schedule with just a little bit of the haze but still very early in the morning. we are looking at temperatures at 5:30, 5:30 that are very mild and you can see they are cleaning beaches getting ready for you. if you bring something to the beach be sure to take it away with you. so that we can keep these beaches nice and clean. we've got storm scan three showing not much going on as we take a look at an early morning in our area this weekend. few clouds in state college. we have clear skies, every place else, just a big pretty start to the day. temperatures are mild, 66 in allentown. sixty-five in millville. it is 67 in trenton. 69 degrees in wilmington. we will zero in on philadelphia at 17 degrees.

in the 60's for the most part in the shore areas. then these dew point and you know how key they are to how comfortable it is around here. the lower they are, the more comfortable and dryer the air mass. sixty-two, that is acceptable, yesterday we had a dew point in the 50's, so when they are as low as that, this time of the year, the air mass feels great. at 89 degrees, yesterday we felt really quite comfortable. the dew points in the 60's. they will be in the higher end tomorrow and we will increase that humidity beyond that. our temperatures today by the time we get to noon 84 degrees. we have a lot of sunshine, one or two clouds and summer's average temperature this time of the year around here is 87 and we will reach that getting to 88 degrees. this computer model says off to the west could there be a brief shower? not all models agree with that but thought i would call your attention to it. we will look the at an eyewitness weather seven day forecast that features a lot

of stuff going on it and i'll show thaw just ahead, nicole. well, investigators say it will likely be weeks before they necessity what killed boyfriend of the the glee cast member. matt bendik was found unresponsive in a philadelphia hotel room on thursday. we know his girlfriend glee star becca tobin was in los angeles at the time of his death. "eyewitness news" anchor jessica dean picks up the story. >> reporter: memorial for 31 year-old club owner matt bendik popped up outside his l.a. business. it was at hotel monaco on independent mall that a employee found bendik unconscious in his bed thursday afternoon. he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. >> nothing suspicious, in foul play at this point. >> reporter: according to philadelphia police glee star's boyfriend seen here in tmz video last year was socializing the night before he death. he was in town checking out the philadelphia night life. he showed no signs of distress. >> he was here on some type of

business. >> reporter: medical performer performed an autopsy but found in clear reason for bendik's death and found no signs of drama next up, a, toxicology report. >> central detectives will necessity which way to go in terms of direction of their investigation. >> reporter: jessica dean, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". bendik's death comes days before the the one year anniversary of another death from the star of glee, corry monteith was found death in the hotel room in vancouver. it is 5:33. camden mother tells "eyewitness news" that she's relieved after the man convicted of murdering her son and raping her daughter is headed to jail. ozwald owe riveria was found guilty on all charges. violence happened in september 2012 at a home on wear street. prosecutors say that riveria slashed the throat of the six year-old dominic anduhar as he tried to help his 12 year-old sister. her throat was also slashed. she was able to break free and get help. >> dominic's memory will always be around him, how

strong he was to face this monster, animal that he is, you know, and justice was done. justice is served. >> reporter: riveria faces life in prison when sentenced in october. well, thieves targeting storage units are caught on camera. take a look at this surveillance video here. suspects forced their way in to 54 storage units at public storage at wheatsheaf lane in philadelphia early tuesday morning. thieves got away with an orange harley davidson trailer park nearby. an elderly philadelphia man is under arrest charged with ten counts of possessing child pornography. eighty-one year-old ramon ellis was arrested wednesday after an undercover investigation led to a search of his philadelphia apartment. ellis is held on 25 you this dollars bail. well, budget is taking center stage in the race for pennsylvania governor. democrat tom wolf visited montgomery county yesterday, and azamat math rivers report he took that opportunity to criticize the leadership of the republican governor tom

corbett. >> reporter: it was baseball and budget talks in norristown friday as democrat tom wolf toured chandler bats a successful baseball bat company in montgomery county. the front runner made his appearance one day after governor tom corbett signed pennsylvania's new budget into law. corbett strongly criticized both democrats, and republicans, for not including pension reform in this years budget. >> it is time to stop talking around edges and inact meaningful reform. >> reporter: corbett says it is necessary to close pennsylvania's $1.6 billion budget gap but his challenger says criticizing the legislature is not away to achieve reform. >> it is not the way a governor should behave especially with his own party. >> reporter: wolf offered no specific solution when asked how he would change the system. in a new attack ad governor corbett pounded. while wolf has not yet released an ad that will change soon, the race will be one of the most watched nationwide and millions will

be spent on both sides to try to take the governor's mansion. expect budget issues to remain top of mind throughout the campaign, not the least of which will be education funding. before wolf left the bat company here in norristown we asked him if he sports spending $2 a tax cigarette tax in philadelphia that with go towards public schools. he wouldn't directly answer the question though only saying it is regrettable that philadelphians have to make that choice in the first place. we're in norristown, matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". centers for disease control takes action in the wake of the anthrax scare and other safety problems. the cdc has shut down two research labs, an incident last month at one lab in atlanta could have exposed workers in three labs to anthrax. a second problem earlier this year involved deadly bird flu. now the cdc says it has also stopped practice of shipping highly dangerous germs. we will send you back, that is the new warning from the u.s. to immigrants who

illegally try to cross border. the home land security department announced it is working to open up new detention facilities. the goal to more quickly deport illegal immigrants fleeing poverty extortion in central america. it is a special day for camden county world war two veteran. "eyewitness news" in cherry hill as edward mar teen owe was presented with the camden county service medal and state combat medal. mar teen owe served as 309th combat engineers. he was wounded during the battle of the bulge and earned a purple heart for his bravery. the camden county service medalled walling created to honor men and women who made the county proud of their service. crews are beginning work on the giant see sees wall to protect a new jersey shore town devastated by hurricane sandy. "eyewitness news", new jersey reporter, cleve bryan, was there. >> reporter: checking on his new home in mantoloking steve law visibly remembers what steve law did to his last

house. >> tore tonight to three pieces. >> reporter: in all american 100 homes were wiped away or demolished in mantoloking because of sandy. only a fraction on have rebuilt so far but something very big just got underway which could change that. construction began this week on the three and a half mile sea wall in mantoloking and brick township. >> we feel that this will give people confidence to rebuild. >> reporter: hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent to rebuild route 35 corridor along the sea shore in ocean county. large scale dune project is planned for february but first comes the the sea wall which will serve as a last resort against the storms. >> they are 45-foot long being driven 30 feet below sea level. >> reporter: this area was under 20 feet of water after sandy but when this project is done there will be a double layer of protection, 22 feet above sea level what we are saying to the people of mantoloking is we have fix the beach. it will not be a threat anymore. >> reporter: local officials say they hope to receive more

location, except for the shore where it is a little bit cooler. now, you probably could not help but notice or at least hear all of the buzz about about this, the full moon that is out there, full moon that we're seeing out there this morning and you saw it last night. the moon is 30 percent closer to the earth. it is closest point. well, it is the closest point to the earth and making it 30 percent brighter. we have had another super moon tonight that you can sianni also another one on august the tenth and september the ninth. so several opportunities to view this beauty and it is really just something to see. storm scan three, all right, we've got these clouds, they are not menacing at all, they are out there, they are off to the west but you can see they would like to come through here. do we see a couple clouds along with a lot of sunshine and probably a lot of sunshine and one or two clouds. area to the west of philadelphia just marginally unstable enough that would one of those clouds drop a little brief shower? it is possible.

so, not likely but still it is possible. high pressure in charge of the weather, temperatures get in the upper 80's but we are watching a front coming through here. it is in the here tomorrow but again, with it lurking and approaching and a warm fronting go through and that sort of thing tomorrow we could be picking up another chance of a shower, on sunday, and then by monday, the cold front comes through here, this is when we will start to pick up chances of these stronger storms and that storm threat continues right here through tuesday as this front slowly comes through the area. expect to find monday, and tuesday, especially with a chance of the showers, and the thunderstorms. and then after that front goes by these temperatures do start to cool. this computer model again as i mentioned just maybe spraying up a little brief shower, in the the a big deal if you see one. sunday you might see a couple of others, as we go through the afternoon hours and then by the time we will get to monday we are watching for these storms to come in here. now this computer model wants to not bring them in at this point or at least too many of them.
