today, it is wednesday july 16th good morning, i'm ukee washington. i'm erika von tiehl. here are stories we are following. develop right the now a person of interest is in custody after the discovery of the woman's body in the duffle bag, nicole brewer has a live report. tri-state area ace waking to more storm damage after, powerful storms rip through the area again. this delaware county teen is thankful to be alive after being struck by lightening. let's talk about the storms and our forecast with katie. >> it feels like yesterday was not as bad as monday night's storms. >> it dependedded where you were. it is so much about where are you when these storms come in they hit you or they don't hit you it can depend on what your

story is the next day. there were very strong storms yesterday but a lot of it was in new jersey. generally with the exact same time as what we had the day before that. it has been two straight days of very strong storms, more damage to clean up at this point and we're not totally done but do i come bearing better news. look at storm scan three, tri-state sweep, still picking up on pockets of heavy rain, granted, however back at berks and lancaster county you see back edge. what you see is what you get there is a back edge to track. that means that with time, this is our transition day, we will see skies clearing out, we will end up with more sunshine, not just back west but across the board and it will also feel better. i come bearing some nice weather news for a change. the guys, back to you. >> we will take it. meanwhile police are questioning a person of interest in the death of a young woman whose body was found in the duffle bag. >> "eyewitness news" reporter

nicole brewer joins us from philadelphia police headquarters with more, nicole. >> reporter: ukee and erika, police may be one step close tore solving this heinous crime, two days after laura arujo's body was found in the duffle bag in north philadelphia let's role video and show you her parents arriving to homicide headquarters tuesday afternoon, the same day a person of interest, was taken into custody and questioned by police. now authorities believe that the 23 year-old man that person of interest, lived in the victim's west philadelphia apartment complex. he may be connect to the grizzly crime which left a 23 year-old art institute grad strangled and beaten, her hands tied. police say he raised suspicions after being treated for burns at crozer-chester medical center days after her car was found torched, a gas can lying nearby. >> all of her belongings were thrown out of the vehicle and we believe whoever did this took her vehicle to the philadelphia area ape set it

on fire. >> according to investigators araujo was in traps situation having obtained a job at a local hotel, personal items found at that scene including bank records and a personal journal indicates she may have been traveling with all of her belongings while searching for a place to live. of course, anyone with any information at all is urged to cat homicide unit, within the philadelphia police department, as this is all unsolved murders, there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of her killer. we are live outside police headquarters, nicole brewer, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". nicole, thank you. 4:33. lets get back to katie. you might solve good news. >> yes, how about that. here on storm scan three we are seeing back edge of the frontal boundary. i threw through satellite coverage on top with the radar because that actually tells the the story a little bit easier or more visibly i guess, for us out there as you

can see babbling edge of the cloud cover, it is already passed through harrisburg so just a matter of time. would i say had back through berks, lancaster county if you are not seeing any rain right new you are gone this. it is just a matter of time. when we zoom out further look at how skies have cleared out. it is cooler for a place like pittsburgh and williamsport then it is here but we're still in the totally done with this front. granted heavier of the rain and worst of the storms are at the scene or off to our north but there are a couple isolated pockets of heavier rain so just watch for. that you may run into ponding, flip the windshield wipers or keep them on full speed depending where you are traveling. let look at dew points. they are high. we are still in the 70's. it is is the very muggy outside but starting to get better. lower that dew point drops, the dryer it gets and better hair day you will end up with. fifty-five is current dew point up in mount pocono but still really muggy when you are in the 70's along southern new jersey and mess of

delaware. we are at 73 degrees at the airport. very modest win. generally out of the west southwest. we're out of the northwest in mount pocono. so, signs of things to come, change is coming will here as next air mass takes the place of the last one. it is cooler, dryer and while it is still warm later today, it will be sunny and a lot more comfortable, bob, over to you. good morning, everybody. 4:35. we will look at a live look at the schuylkill expressway n problems at the moment coming into philadelphia roads are damp we can see puddles off to the shoulder. keep that in mind. on and off ramps could be slippery with the rain we had overnight and hit and miss depending pneumonia where you begin and end your trip. here's a live look at ben franklin bridge. construction crews heading in to new jersey taking out the two right lanes but coming into philadelphia where the the mess volume occurs in the morning rush hour on the bennie, we're down to only three lanes instead of the normal four. so far, the last two days of this week we have had big delays coming into

philadelphia, on ben franklin. they typically begin at 7:30 or so. accident near roosevelt boulevard northbound lanes blocked at grant avenue, that is one of the busiest, most dangerous intersections in the country with accident. boulevard and grant avenue. use bustleton avenue at least for the moment and a down tree park avenue at falcon road. otherwise mass transit looking good with no delays, ukee, back over to you. clean up continues this morning after another round of strong storms, blew through our area. >> high wind left some south jersey neighborhoods covered in debris. this is aftermath in glassboro, gloucester county. a tree came crashing down, in the cemetery knocking down monuments right off its face. another tree snapped in half on sylvan terrace missing one woman's car just by inches. >> our back door blew opened and we're like what happened there. we ran down to the back door to shut it and i told her to check the the car that the tree was already down. >> i don't know what to think.

i'm surprised it fell down. you don't expect to come home and find your tree down in the front lawn. >> fortunately in one was hurt in either incident. national weather service says a tornado did not touchdown in voorhees, during monday night's storm. they say, straight line wind caused all that damage along blue ridge road. >> that storm hit a little will too close to one delaware county teen, struck by lightening. he is out of the hospital now and sharing his incredible story. fourteen year-old david, was getting into his friend's carbon monoxide night when bolt hit him. luckily he suffered a minor cut on his arm and numbness in his hand. the glenn olden teenager says he still cannot believe what happened. >> it just felt like shocked and i was shaking and i didn't know, what happened. >> i don't know if i will go out in the rain anymore, thunder, lightening, i don't know. the just my luck. >> doctors say it was the shoes and thick rubber souls that saved him. how about this we're told

his friend gave him those shoes right before the the storm. >> good luck timing, um. happening today man arrested for 1989 double murder is scheduled for arraignment. police say dna linked right duffle church hell to the murders of the ruby ellis and three three-year old cheryl hanibul. philadelphia police found victim's body within a in of each other and both had been strangled. a montgomery county math teacher has an arraignment on charges of a sexual relationship with a student. police say jessica streeper had a inappropriate relationship with a 14 year-old boy at eisenhower middle school. charges include institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors. a philadelphia school police officer is recovering this morning after a hazmat situation, this happened in northeast philadelphia. a blown transformer caused a small explosion at benjamin rush on knights read. that sent freon linking in the building. the officer was treated for dizziness from the fumes and

still a little bit muggy out there in spots but we are starting to see pattern shift and we are starting to see skies gradually clear with time. we will start off with a check on sky cam three. it is quiet. we have had a couple showers rolling on through but at the moment it is just a thin haze that settled over atlantic city but we are not totally out of the woods. storm scan three is up next and there is a very distinct back edge to the frontal boundary but still back over central pennsylvania. through new jersey and right now, especially over delaware bay, cumberland, salem counties we are seeing heavy rain moving in. we still got that possibility anywhere where basically from that frontal boundary on east which is most of us you can see this lingering shower but with time, we will clear out, just a matter of hours and we will see that sun returning to the forecast. it will linger all day and all day tomorrow too thank goodness. temperatures are very close to the dew point, it is saturated

air math, 73 at the airport. seventy-one ac. lower 60's in mount pocono but mid to lower 50's through up of michigan, wisconsin. this is a, real dose of fall for this area of country but for us we just see very modest drop on the thermometer. so the front really just gave all of its gusto to us in the form of the really strong storms. we will see temperatures drop off a bit and technically cooler by comparison to yesterday but we are still within reason for actual typical temperature for the standards this time of the year. normal high 87. we're at eight 36789 still warm. but it feels so much more comfortable. mid 80's on thursday and friday. beautiful days. by saturday we will see potential for a shower in the forecast and maybe a thunderstorm on sunday. ukee, back to you. thanks, katie, in sports phillies are off until friday in atlanta but chase utley made his presence felt in last night's all-star game. chase had an rbi double in the first at bat last night in

near girard avenue, one of the many construction zones up and down i-95. this is girard avenue, no delays at the moment, the roads are wet so watches specially in the construction zones, when roads are wet, and on overnight and early morning hours before we see daylight. tough to see lane markers in the construction zones. 309, again roads are damp from the rain last night but no problems here near fort washington. we have a problem in the northeast. roosevelt boulevard northbound outer drive between welsh and grant avenue. that is right by the shopping plaza, we have chapman chevrolet, chapman ford dealer there one lane open in the inner drive all due to an accident at the boulevard and grant avenue. so this morning, out of the gate, try to use bustleton avenue, as the alternate. katie, when will we turn the faucet off here. >> we are starting to already. it is like a fine drip right now. we are still watching a frontal boundary make its
