we have new video and pictures from the ukraine an russian border. ukraine fire fighter sprayed down the the smoldering wreckage, and airlines flight 17, it went down in the field near russian border. some of the debris at crash cities fairly recognizable but other items are easily identifiable, like these passports, and at least 295 people were on board, the boeing triple seven, traveling from amsterdam to qualify alum kuala lumpur. president obama and vladamire putin discussed the crash in the previously scheduled phone call. >> right now we are working to determine whether there were american citizens on board. >> reporter: emergency workers say body parts and debris have been found mild from the crash site that suggest the the plane broke up at midair at cruising altitude of 33,000 feet, streams of debris could be seen falling from the sky. ukraine government advisor says hat jet liner was hit by a missle fired from a buck luncher, government forces and pro russian separatist, who

when those shots, were fired, and you can see here behind me, that police are still out here, processing the scene, d.a. and family of that man the shot, questioning why such annex stream force was used over warrants, for parking tickets. >> how it happens that this man end up doing shots, for an unpaid ticket. >> reporter: mohammad is struggling to figure out how father of her son and long time boyfriend kevin mckillers is paralyzed from the waist down over have hundred dollars worth of unpaid parking tickets. >> our whole family life has just change over a second. >> reporter: she claimed mckellers was unarmed simply leaving their town house to pick up coffee when she heard two gunshots. she quickly realized one hit her boyfriend. >> he cannot breathe and cannot move. >> reporter: lehigh county district attorney jim martin says two constables were serving mckellers a warrant for unpaid ticket but he wasn't having it.

>> they were asking mr. mckellers to comply, he did not, instead he put the vehicle in reverse. >> reporter: that is when one of the constable is allegedly fired twice at mckellers vehicle. one of the shots striking him in the torso. d.a. tells us this morning wasn't the first visit authorities have made to mckellers home but he says he has a lot of questions, about the shooting. >> frankly, i'm a bit disturb by the fact that there would be a shooting in connection with attempting to serve parking tickets. >> this man was shot for no reason at all. >> reporter: now d.a. says those constables guns have been seized, so far, no charges have been brought, against them, or against mr. mckellers n white hall township noel mcclaren for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> noel, thank you. chopper three over a dump truck in the the lake near lake drive and brunswick

avenue in lawrence township in mercer county. it is unclear how that struck ended up in the water, we do know that another car was involved in the accident, but didn't go into the water. that truck driver has been taken to the hospital. breaking news now a grand jury find philadelphia police did nothing wrong in the case of the 16 year-old who said he was injured during a pat down. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live with new information tonight, walt. >> reporter: allegations last january, created headlines, and controversy, police accused of beating up a young man basically during a confrontation, pulling in fact on one of his testicles and causing severe injury but today district attorney announced the grand jury found that there was no police misconduct. >> the evidence does not support student number one's claim that a white female police officer or any police officer, grabbed and squeezed his testicles two times. >> reporter: district attorney seth williams announced based

on video of the january 7th incident and other evidence, a grand jury has found a philadelphia police officer did not assault a 16 year-old boy, injuring his testicle during a confrontation, between a group of young men and police at 15th and girard. >> these police officers demonstrated i believe great restraint in that they never used the the batons, they never used the ax. >> this image, the d.a. explained, shows the young man walking with no problem in the ninth police district something that would have been impossible had he been seriously injured, was also, part of the evidence. a doctor testifying that the young man had a preexisting physical condition. >> the doctor was able to conclude there will had been no rupture there was in trauma. >> reporter: the officer put on desk duty during the investigation as part of the standard procedure, has now been restored to full active duty. >> when you know you did nothing wrong is one thing but

weather coverage, kathy orr is in ocean city. we will start with kate billow here in the studios, kate. >> what a perfect day it is, take a look at this shot behind me of the city and ben franklin bridge. nothing but sunshine and these puffy cumulus clouds, fair weather clouds moving through. it has been a stunning summer day with temperatures even a couple degrees below average. this is typically hottest time of the year here in mid-july and a few days below average, sound perfect to me and hopefully to you as well because we have a few more coming our way. lets look at storm scan three which shows just some clouds off to the the north and west, stay instability showers popping up. not so much for us and even most of the clouds are staying away as well. everything is very comfortable out there and very clear through tonight. look at these numbers feeling great in our northern and western suburbs, nice and cool we are sitting at 78 in allentown. seventy-eight in reading. comfortable 75 in lancaster. seventy-two at philadelphia international the airport. twenty-eight i should say. seven would be cool for this time of the year. we are pleasant dew point

wise. look at these numbers, 47 is dew point in philadelphia, 49 in allentown. most other locations, are in the mid 50 ease, mid 50's, that is pleasant as far as dew points are concerned but we have dropped our dew points in the 40's, some 50 dew pointness july, that is just awesome. we are definitely in that awesome range here in philadelphia and heard a lot of people on twitter and facebook talking about how beautiful it feels out there tomorrow dew points back in the mid 50's still feeling quite pleasant. lets look at future weather in problems through tonight, everything is clear. heading through your day tomorrow a couple fair weather clouds, another beautiful afternoon. watch what happens over the weekend. notice saturday look at the cloud cover. generally stays dry. it is a strong july sun, so sun will make it to the ground but more clouds throughout the day then we have been seeing of the past couple of days. it does cloud up a little bit over the weekend. same story in the poconos as we are's in the 07's saturday and sunday with just a few more clouds. for tonight temperatures will drop down in the 60's again, very comfortable, pleasant and tomorrow is another great day, mostly sunny, 85 degrees.

back on "eyewitness news" with breaking news at 5:30 crash of malaysia airlines flight 17. >> just a short time ago cbs news confirmed that plane was shot down over ukraine this morning. air liner was heading from kuala lumpur from amsterdam carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew members. americans air monk the casualties. president obama, commented on the disaster from his visit from wilmington, delaware. >> united states will offer any assistance we can to help determine what happened and why, and as the the countries are thoughts and prayers where all of the families of the passengers where ever they call home. >> let's take a closer look at the the details of the tragedy as it unfolded earlier today. we know malaysia airlines flight took off from amsterdam to the netherland and on its way to qualify alum pur malaysia. here is the netherland and we can show you right now a picture of the actual airplane, this boeing 777, 200 er, as it took off from the airport this morning. this is the moment of lift off. we will go back to the matt and ukraine where the crash

air waiting word from the medical examiner, on the the mysterious deaths of an elderly couple. they were found in their strawberry mansion home, "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live at police headquarters with more on this investigation, matt. >> reporter: jessica, as that investigation continues, both family members and police are awaiting the results of scheduled autopsies, for both victims. >> terrible. terrible. i never got to say good bye to him. >> reporter: losing her own grandparents is awful enough, not knowing how the it happened, makes it even worse. >> i just want answers. i just want to know what happened, why. >> reporter: roofus and gladys per write found dead overnight discovered by one of their six children. the elderly couple showed no signs of trauma, nor were there signs of forced entry into their spangler street home. they checked in with family members wednesday afternoon. >> my father like he don't bother nobody. they stay to themselves.

>> reporter: police say they are not sure how the the couple died, they said foul play, and suicide are still options on the table although any final determination will have to come via a scheduled autopsy, and in the meantime, a painful wait for a tight family. >> i cannot even put it into words right now. i'm stunned. >> reporter: we're not sure, when those autopsies are scheduled for but family members tell thaws both victims were relatively good health and had a lot to live for. we are live outside police headquarters, matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". "eyewitness news" on the scene of the fire in north philadelphia. this is at broad and ontario streets, and in reports of any injuries here and the cause of fire is now under investigation. we're told building belongs to temple university and was under renovations. three separate accidents on the northeast extension create a traffic headache, for drivers, chopper three over the southbound lanes where you can see that backup for miles. this happened about 8:30 this

morning between the land dale and quakertown exits, luckily though no major injuries. well, another member of the governor chris christie's administration testifies before lawmakers investigating the new jersey bridge scandal today, regina ge a oversaw the port authority and other state agencies. she testified that the george washington bridge lane closures in fort lee last year were a part of the legitimate traffic study, and that she blamed a lack of communication between the port authority and local officials for those traffic jams. >> i think they would have been able to coordinate and maybe change it, i don't know, to be honest, i don't know what would have come out of that communication, so the tests might have been different if they had improved their communication. >> she is by wait in line to be governor christie's next chief of staff. now the legislative panel is investigating whether the bridge lane closures were carried out as part of the act of political retribution. we are continuing to follow developing news out of the middle east.

the israeli military has sent in ground troops in the gaza strip and this ground invasion follows days of rocket attacks from both sides. pat ciarrocchi talks with the local rabbi who has been on vacation with his family in israel, as this fighting, continues. >> reporter: for rabbi neil cooper and his wife laurie, posing with his children and grandchildren who live in israelis infrequent but precious. when warn of the incoming hamas missiles in the middle of the family dinner out, reality of a far away crisis took a different shape. >> this is the new normal here, and it is very jarring for americans. >> reporter: rabbi cooper of wynnewood temple synagogue, spoke to us via skype from northern israel. when the sirens sounded the first rabbi had ever experienced there, the family was having dinner at a restaurant in jerusalem. >> we're in jerusalem, missiles are coming from gaza you have a minute and a half they say to get to your safe

mid-atlantic states. >> we do not want the population to suffer. we are looking to hit those rocket launchers, to disable hamas's capability and to restore quiet and security. >> reporter: without an honored cease-fire the crisis continues to escalate. pat ciarrocchi, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". in other news tonight three gunman grabbed hostages during a bank robbery in northern california and then lead police on a high speed chase that ends in gunfire. police say those men carried assault rifles when they took three women from inside that bank hostage yesterday afternoon in stockton. investigators say they used woman as human shields and made a getaway in the stolen suv. one hostage did die at the scene, two others were shot and thrown from the moving car, during that pursuit. >> they were trying to kill our police officers because 14

microsoft is announcing that it will layoff 18,000 employees, over the next year, news of those cuts sent the company's stock up, 40 percent, in premarket trade to go day. 13,000 workers will receive pink slips in the next six months, and, jobs that are being eliminated will include both professional and factory workers. now all those job cuts have been expect at microsoft industry analyst say that the extent was a surprise. the man accused of crashing a white house state dinner is apparently ready for another crash course in politics. therese is running for congress in the seventh district of virginia, seat recently lost by eric cantor. in 2009, he and his then wife gained unauthorized access to president barack obama's first white house state dinner.
