james garner has died at his california home. good morning to you, today is sunday, july 20th, thanks so much for joining us here i'm nicole brewer. it is 8:00 o'clock. let's get a check of the forecast. it will be a nice sunday but albeit cloudy, right carol. >> as we look outside right now those clouds are there, they are waiting for us. they hardly left yesterday but they did thin out as we went through the day yesterday and we will probably find that same trend today but clouds are definitely out there this morning, in every location, you can see them, out there, ben franklin bridge looks like it does, the sky is always changing and it has changed to that shade of gray. we will move to the shore and notice the boardwalk. they don't care. notice some people are closer to the buildings, but still the boardwalk is wet, the skies is gray and you will find improvement throughout the day. cloudy start but cool one. storm scan three notice we have showers moving right along coastal areas and a

couple sprinkles much farther inland as we go through chester and lancaster county. otherwise we are watching for a day that is not all that bad. let's zoom into the shore and see where this is right now a lot of it is moving to the north of the atlantic city area so ocean city is sort of the out of those showers at the present time and i think the the most you will be finding will be a sprinkle this morning, and then things look better. we have 71, slight warm up at the airport in philadelphia by 1 degree. zero seven in wilmington. sixty-eight in trenton this morning. our warm up is fairly slow because of these clouds, 75 by noon. by 3:00 p.m. our high for the day 80 degrees. we might see 81. it is a temperature similar to what it was yesterday and the fact that it the is similar to yesterday, it is changing a lot though on that eyewitness weather seven day forecast and i'll show thaw coming up, nicole. >> all right, carol, thank you. new this morning a violent night here in the city of philadelphia, police are investigating three # separate homicides. in the ogontz neighborhood

investigators say that a 47 year-old man was shot twice, won in the neck and once in the chest. it happened on the 2100 block of expense are street just before in midnight. he was rush to the hospital where he died. and in grays ferry police say a 41 year-old man was stabbed in the mouth and in the left arm. he died at the hospital from those injuries. there is no word on a suspect or a motive. in west philadelphia authorities tell cbs-3 a paraplegic man shot his brother while trying to get him to stop beating their sister. investigators say it was a paraplegic man intervened his brother charged at him. that shooting happened after 3:30 in the 5800 block of fillburt street. the 48 year-old man was taken to the hospital with the gunshot wound to his chest. he died from his injuries. police are now questioning his brother and there is no word on any charges. well, a van crashes through a building in bellmawr, new jersey, camden county emergency officials responded to the scene in the 100 block of browning road. the the work van belongs to a paradigm hvac company.

the authorities are trying to determine if speed played a role in the crash and there is no word on any injuries at this time. well, investigators are trying to figure out how a four year-old boy fell out of the second floor window in a king sessing home. he is in critical condition but also stable at children's hospital this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live there now with the latest, syma, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, nicole. while police are investigating this case neighbors are praying for the boy and the family. >> it is sad when it comes a child getting hurt. i have several children and they are all grown but i wouldn't want to see nothing happen to no children. >> reporter: neighbors are shock to learn that a four year-old boy was critically injured after falling from the second floor window. it happened yesterday morning on the 5400 block of malcolm street. the child fell out of the room in the back side of this home. he suffered severe injuries, to his head and face, and was immediately rushed to children's hospital of

philadelphia. investigators are trying to figure out how the boy was able to make it out of the window. it is unknown at this time if this was an accident or negligence. neighbors say that the boy is a happy child who is always with his mother. >> it is really sad because the lady that she's very nice. they usually stay to themselves. well, again, the boy is in critical but stable condition here at chop, in the meantime this case is being handled by the special victims unit. we are live at chop, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right, syma, thank you. meanwhile police are searching for a driver of the vehicle that hit a man in camden, new jersey. it happened around 9:30 at north 27th ain't high street. police are working honorary leasing a description of the vehicle that left the scene of the accident. victim was rushed to cooper university hospital and there is no word on his condition. now to the the latest on the plane shot down in ukraine, new this morning, reports that rebels have taken away all of the bod fridays

and seven israelis. meantime, bulldozers spent part of the weekend destroying tunnels that are being used by hamas gunman. also this morning sad news to report from hollywood actor james garner has died. authorities say the star died from natural causes inside of his los angeles home last night. his tc credits crust maverick and rockford files. he was nominated for an oscar in 1985 for murphy's romance. he was 86 years old. back here in our area we are learning about a crash that injured two police officers in ocean county, new jersey. it happened when a car slammed into a parked police cruiser at pine beach around 11:30 friday night. investigators say it all started when officer jesse irving stopped a koran route nine. another officer robert king, arrived and park behind irving's vehicle. later an suv driven by jeffery car sons driven off the road and struck the officer's vehicle. officer irving is hospitalized

quite a sight to see this, five people are injured, when a hot air balloon crashes in to power lanes in clinton, massachusetts. it happened last night just before 8:00 in the suburbs near boston. eyewitnesses say when bat loon hit power lines it caused at least two explosions which you saw right there. six people were on board at the time of that crash. >> i saw, it back pass over trees. it looked low. i didn't think anything of it. i heard this bang. ran over. the balloon was going down. >> people were calling 911 at the time. we're just glad everybody is okay. >> fire fighters say five of

didn't see a lot of sunshine. we saw enough. the temperatures stayed really nice. we have a lot of clouds out there once again this morning. we will go to the shore and you've got the clouds there. it is starting to dry out, however, and that has brought people outside on the wet boardwalk but you can see in ocean city that i be in has hoodie up. nobody is hugging the side of the building. so the rain has stopped, there, and i want to show you rehoboth beach. temperatures 67 degrees. keep an eye on this. it is a time lapse over last five hours. you can see they've got some rain down there and things are starting to look a little bit better. brightening up, slightly. 67 degrees, your winds out of the north east at 14 miles an hour. so not the a bad start if you just like the relief of a few clouds, where maybe you don't feel compelled to get outside to get there because it is so nice we cannot waste this day. down waste it, even with the clouds out there we have 61, 61 degrees there with a easterly wind. 10 degrees warmer through philadelphia with a northeasterly wind. and the atlantic city area

69 degrees with a north/northeasterly wind, at 9 miles an hour. so everybody gets that easterly wind and that is what is keeping these clouds around here today. but still this isn't hard to take, temperatures in the 60's and lower 70's to start the day. and they won't be getting all that much high tore day because the of the cloud cover that we're likely to be finding for a good portion of it. these showers have moved on as you can see right now through atlantic city but heading out of here and not much following behind. i think a few sprinkles are still out the there but we will probably be in fairly good shape along the shore once we kick that low pressure system completely off the coast. the and then, by the time we get to tomorrow, it the is just a little bit more humid, not a lot but a little bit more humid then it has been this weekend. our future weather is showing some of these, rain showers, and, they are gone. and then by the time we hit 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon we will still have some clouds, and we have a lot of clouds to the east especially but they do start to thin out a bit, abe then by

5:00 o'clock we are looking at some sunshine, one spot, maybe out by lancaster, of a sprinkle, otherwise, things look nice here tonight, they will look nice around here tomorrow too. and we have just a few scattered showers, well off to the west, and then as we get into the longer time range, you can see by monday night we're still looking at nice sky conditions, and tuesday, we will start with a few clouds. do we see a shower around tuesday afternoon? it is possible. maybe north and west but again that is not set in stone. then wednesday it gets hotter around here and we will be fining these temperatures in the 90's. but today they are only in the 80's and barely in the the 80's. 81 degrees. the nice looking afternoon coming up with more sunshine, and 68 degrees for the temperature tonight. so it remains comfortable tonight, and we are looking at, temperatures that will be, in the 80's for the next couple of days but increasing humidity, slightly more tomorrow, little bit more than that on tuesday, close to 90 degrees and then we are looking at, temperatures by wednesday, 93 degrees,

today, it is sunday and thanks so much for joining us. i'm nicole brewer. it is 8:00 306789 lets check the the forecast. there is clouds in the sky. that is not necessarily a bad thing. >> not a bad thing at all because it does cut down on the temperatures. and, if you are at the shore you know you saw some rain out there this morning but that is moving on and i think your day will be improving sky wise if you like blue skies, or if you like gray skies, you are in luck. well, look at ben franklin bridge, we have those gray skies out there right now. let's brighten things up at leadership academy and this is in philadelphia, so this is the time lapse over last couple hours and we will put this into motion and you can see how skies brighten, lighten, but not excessively. so we will still continue with those, clouds.

winds east north east at 4 miles an hour if you don't like the clouds blame those easterly winds for it. we have storm scan three showing us a few of those showers moving long and getting out of here but they will continue along long beach island. we are looking at them right now up through asbury park, toms river, a couple of showers. those will be leaving, a few sprinkles, might be following and in a couple of location is today but that is it. seventy-one right now in philadelphia, 70 in wilmington. sixty-eight in trenton. easy to take, comfortable wet they are morning. own by noon time we're still in the 70's. we still hang on to a fair amount of clouds but we're starting to see a few breaks and i think by later on this afternoon we should be find something sun breaks in there, clouds will be thinning out, temperatures getting to 80 degrees. nice lag day shaping up for us, computer model says areas to the east you may hang on to those clouds longer than areas to the west. depending where you are we will see more or less of those clouds. the heat, yes, it has in the

>> really sad because the the lady, she's very nice, the family vice nice and they usually stay to them selves. >> reporter: again, the boy is in critical but stable condition and right now this case is being handled by the special victims unit. we're live at chop, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> same, thank you. well, detectives continue to question two persons of interest in the mysterious deaths of the elderly couple in strawberry mansion. roofus and al gladys perry were found in their spangler street on early thursday. there was in tram and no evidence of force entry into the home. the couple's family says they were both in good health. police in western pennsylvania are investigating a shocking case of child abuse. a seven year-old boy was found bruised and nearly starved to death. authorities say that the victim weighed just 25 pounds and looked like a skeleton when taken from that home. a doctor calls it the the worst case of medical neglect she has ever seen.

neighbors are furious about that discovery. >> see what it is like, he is a child, you don't punish them that way. there is no excuse for it. that is all there is to it. none at all. >> the boy's mother and grandparents are facing several charges. three other children living in the home were also removed. doctors say that the victim is doing better, having gained 20-pound since june 6th. well to day marks the two years anniversary of the deadly shooting in aurora, colorado at that movie theater. twelve people died and 58 others were hurt when a gunman opened fire on a pack midnight showing of the batman movie the dark knight rises. police arrested james holmes in that attack. he is facing dozens of charges and pleaded not guilty by reasons of insanity. this month the judge in that case delayed his trial so an additional exam could be completed. the trial is now tentatively slate todd start in december. a sicklerville, new jersey neighborhood rallies for peace after a teenager is hit by a

stray bullet while sleeping. the theme was love and hugs outside tia hudson's home on hathaway drive. a bullet went through a wall and hit that 13 year-old in the lower back last week. now the honor role student heading in the the eighth grade is spending her summer going through a painful recovery. >> it is tia day. i'm happy to say that she's home. i'm happy to say that i'm not burying my daughter. she's here. she's alive. we will promote peace, love and hugs in our neighborhood. >> no one has been arrested so far this that shooting. millville cumberland county is raising money in memory of the police officer kill in the line of duty. "eyewitness news" was there as runners cross the finish line at christopher reeves scholarship 5k run and walk. reeves was known as millville's very own super man. many people wore capes. officer reeves was killed during a car chase in 2012. and a team of fire fighters comes to the rescue

luggage fees it did change how people pack for flights. well, new we're told it is all about to change again. carry on you have been using to avoid those baggage fees might no longer aloud in the overhead bins. three on your side consumer reporter jim didn't van tells us why carrying on could now cost you. >> we have a completely full flight today. >> reporter: all too familiar announcement that usually means the the overhead bins will soon be full because many of these bags are bigger than these boxes. passengers used to be able to avoid checked bag fee by shoving oversized carry ons into overhead bins or checking them at the gate. >> frustrating because all these people are bringing bags on and they are bigger than carry ons. >> it is hard with people with big bags. >> everybody tries to sneak them in. >> reporter: many people are trying to put it an toned that instructing security screen tours send passengers back to the count tore check their bag if it doesn't fit in this box. >> having to stand in line again probably will miss a flight. >> reporter: even seasoned travelers are caught off guard

following them around. we will be finding a little bit of sunshine as we move later on in the day. lets see what we have out there temperature wise and as i said if we averaged all of this i think we would probably come up to about 70 degrees over the area. it is comfortable anyplace you go this morning. storm scan three, it is noticing a few of these showers are heavier right off the coast but the the clouds are just around. these are now moving to the north of the atlantic city area one or two sprinkles coming up from maryland, and they are very, very light. in the a big deal. in the a some cloud cover, especially farther east you go. so if you are up in allentown we are looking at better sky conditions then you are say if you are in trenton. we have temperatures today that will be getting into the 80's just barely, and then by the the time we will get through tomorrow it will be in the middle 80's. what we're dealing with is a very weak area of lose pressure but strong enough to kickback a few of these

showers, this computer model says, we do say good bye to the showers, which we're glad about along the shore areas, but the clouds stay and this is a look at 2:00 this afternoon. go to the west we are looking at sunshine. further west you might find a sprinkle. we will find a few clouds around, the included should be thinning out though. thinks at 6:00 o'clock. still nice and breezy at 6:00. expect to find some sunshine and sprinkle or two out there. by the time we will get to overnight you will still have some clouds right along the shoreline, one sprinkle or two not a big deal at all, during the day tomorrow, we have sun, clouds, one sprinkle and that is it, maybe a few more off to the north and west and then by machine and tuesday we are in and out of the clouds and then this computer model says by tuesday we could be finding a shower around here especially to the north and to the west. we will see whether that becomes valid by the time we get to tuesday. otherwise, wednesday, starts

as a hot day. we should find some sunshine out there and also by the afternoon as cold front approaches, showers and thunderstorms on that wednesday, thursday timetable. but until then it is quiet weather pattern. we have clouds out there today. 81 degrees. high temperature. it will be 78 at the shore. poconos 78 degrees. all locations dealing with some clouds, and probably more of them to start the day then to finish the day. 6 degrees below normal. 68 degrees tonight. mostly cloudy. still very comfortable out there the next couple of days what dough do we find? we will find it at 85 degrees here tomorrow. just a little bit more humid a lot more humid by tuesday, close to 90 degrees. and then wednesday we are looking at 93, and it will be a hot humid day. maybe a stormy one. thursday, same story at 88 degrees. then a cooler more refreshing air mass will come in at 85 degrees. the as we will await today with some skies showing brightening depending on where you are.
