♪ >> developing right now at 11:00-a carjacking, a crash and three children killed. now an all out manhunt for the men who did it and then fled the scene. good evening to you, i'm jess can dean. chris may is off tonight. >> late this evening the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those suspects jumped one tenths season dollars. here's what we know right now. the three children killed were siblings. a 15 year old girl, a 10 year old boy and a seven year old boy. their mother and two others remain hospitalized tonight. this all began when two armed suspects forced their way into an suv at sixth and huntington. they crashed into group of people at germantown and west allegheny in north philadelphia. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live at temple hospital tonight with the latest on this still developing story. todd? >> reporter: jessica, the 34 year old mother is here tonight. she is fighting for her life. earlier today, three of her young children were killed and tonight the policeman hunt has

intensified as tips have rolled in. the children were selling fruit on a warm summer day on a street corner in tioga when the unthinkable happened. two men who had just carjacked an suv plowed into the kids, their mother and a neighbor. friday night the father and aunt of the seven year old boy who was killed spoke briefly. >> whoever did it ya'll need to turn yourself in. >> taking innocent people's lives much that's my son you took him away from me. turn yourself in, dog. whoever you is turn yourself in. >> it happened in front of several eyewitnesses some who were also there helping the mother and her three children sell fruit in order to raise money for their church. >> i saw these kids on the ground and everything. a woman on the ground crying. clothes ripped off them. >> they were sweet. they were beautiful. they were beautiful little kids. >> the white toyota suv that ran into the three children at germantown and allegheny crashed into a wooded area yards away two suspects ran it way. physical police indicate the men carjacked a 45 year old real

estate agent just shortly after 11:00 o'clock on the 600 block of cumberland street. the men and that kept the woman in her suv at gun point as they sped around north philadelphia. >> i believe we were driving at an extremely high rate of speed. at some point the tire blew out and they were trying to make that turn from germantown on to allegheny lost control of the vehicle. >> the 34 year old mom lost her 15 year old daughter as well her 10 and seven year old sons. >> nobody deserves anything like that. um, have a heart and turn yourself in. >> reporter: at this point the suspects are only being described as one black male and hispanic male who believed to be in their 20s. at this point we are with holding the names those involved because the philadelphia police department has yet to officially release the entities of those who were hurt and killed here today. reporting live tonight in north philadelphia, todd quinones cbs-3 it were the news. >> todd, thank you. the victim of the carjacking a 45 year old real estate agent is

in critical but stable condition. the woman who was with the children a 65 year old neighbor is also stable. now once again that reward in this case now stands at 100 tenths season dollars. but $10,000 of that amount will expire if no ones are made by tomorrow at noon. "eyewitness news" will continue to stay on top of any overnight developments. we'll have them for you starting at 6am. >> now to some startling new information about the deadly medical center shooting in dar darby. we've now learn the suspect arrived at that hospital yesterday with lots of ammunition. and with the intent to pull the trigger on a mass killing. tonight richard plots faces murder and attempted murder charges. diana rocco is here with more on the brave actions those who stopped the shooter from doing even more harm. diana? >> reporter: jessica, tonight dr. lee silverman and two caseworkers are being hailed as heroes. police say when the convicted felon arrived for his appointment at mercy fitzgerald yesterday, what he wasn't expecting was a gun carrying

doctor and two men willing to fight back. investigators say he was planning oh mass killing and his doctor was the first on his list. loaded with 39 rounds in a revolver richard plots showed up for his psychiatric appointment thursday at mercy fitzgerald hospital. but one the shooting started, the plan was foiled when the doctor returned fire and two caseworkers wrestled plots to the ground. >> if it wasn't for the heroic action of the doctor and the caseworker, we believe he was there and going to reload that revolver and continue to fire and continue to kill. >> reporter: inside the office dr. lee silverman told police plots was agitated after app argument he pulled a revolver immediately shooting 53 year old theresa hunt a caseworker who was sitting in on the appointment. >> mr. plots took the gun and fired into her head into the left side of her head which we believe immediately killed her. >> reporter: that's the doctor

recovering from graze wounds. he was seen walking around his home with bandages on his head and hand. dr. silverman did not want to talk with us, but his wife spoke briefly at theism team's charlotte huffman. >> i just wanted to see how he's doing. >> he's okay. >> yeah. >> he's okay. >> dr. silver man's brother tells "eyewitness news" his brother is recovering and his thoughts and prayers are with his colleague and her family. >> police arrested the man who detectives believe fire bombed a row house in south philadelphia. chopper three over the scene of the 1700 block of segal street this morning. three people were injured including a three year old girl. she and others had to jump from a second story window. police say lieutenant in plain clothes rushed into the house to help. >> kick in the front door and alert the residents instructing hem to leave from the rear of the property. >> that officer was unit jonathan jeez zoo. he was fired after he was caught on video striking a woman during a puerto rican day parade. josie was later acquitted of assault charges and reinstated

to the force last year. a university of delaware graduate student is accused of putting cameras in campus bathrooms. officers say 38 year old javier men deal soto hid the video cameras between 2012 and this your. officers confiscated video evidence from him. so far no evidence those videos were posted online. new at 11:00, merck is cutting 600 jobs in north wales and lansdowne. merck and company is looking to cut $2.5 billion. so they decided to shed 8500 employees. that is 10% of the company's total work force. most of those positions are field workers who visit family doctors and medical facilities. those cuts will take effect august 26th. >> none other than archbishop charles chaput provides a boost in the ants paying of a possible papal visit to philadelphia. but while has latest comments are promising the deal isn't done just yet. >> the words from philadelphia

archbishop charles chaput sounded concrete. the cath look news service quoted chaput at a conference in north dakota on thursday saying "poe francis has told me that he is coming". and the pope will be with us the friday, saturday and sunday of that week. chaput is referring to the world meeting of families set for september 2015. the archbishop recently led the delegation of civic and business leaders to the vatican to form formally invite the pope to philadelphia for that event but despite chaput's comments the vatican says there are no plans for philly yet. the holy father has indicated his willingness to participate in the world meeting of families in philadelphia, but at the present moment there are no concrete plans or programs for any visits to the united states or mexico. keep in mind that we are still one year away from the philadelphia meeting. >> still the city of philadelphia is moving ahead with plans for a papal visit. in may, a papal traveled her to survey the area and checked out

videographer who received 83 consume mr. complaints. that cement resolves allegations that videographer ken stillman of buck county failed to provide wedding videos to clients. stillman is required to hand over any wedding videos he still has to couples whose weddings he shot. he must have also pay restitution to eligible couples as well as civil penalties to the commonwealth. it's regarded as one of the best marching bands around but tonight the ohio state university marching band finds itself in the middle of a controversy. the university has fired what happened leader jonathan waters after an investigation revealed he ignored a sexualized culture within the band. that culture reportedly included degrading tricks, explicit nicknames and marches in underwear called the midnight rant. former band members are speaking out. >> you see the band as like this really high prestigious band. you never realized how much like more secretive stuff that happens within the ban. >> the investigation into waters

began in may after a sexual harassment complaint was filed. now to the worldwide effort underway to help grant a birthday wish for a little boy with terminal cancer. today danny nickerson' sixth birthday and he received boxes and boxes of birthday cards and letters. it's actually more male than all of the residents in his hometown of foxboro, massachusetts received today combined. danny suffers from a rare brain tumor and his mom said danny just had one item on that birthday wish list. >> what do you weren't for your birthday. he said i want mail. so he got mail. >> he definitely did. letters have been mailed from aruba, tuck text even from squadron of marines in afghanistan. so far danny has received 50,000 dozens of cards for danny earlier this week. >> kate is joining oceanaut. it was an awesome kick off at the weekend. >> yes. >> everybodyhoping it's going to linger but, eh. >> not so much.
