shooting in the 3,000 block of page street shortly before this incident took place. a man was shot four times at that location, police got information that the suspects involved in that shooting were holdup in a house here in the 3200 block of page street. let's list never to inspector steven cross as he tells us what happened after that. >> inspector: male exited the property with a handgun his hands, pointed the gun at police. uniform officer at that time discharged his weapon, striking the defendant in the mid section. >> reporter: well that suspect was taken to temple university hospital, we're told he's in serious condition, again, with gunshot wounds to the abdomen. another suspect was also taken into custody, and the other victim, who was shot, just two blocks away in the 3,000 block of page street, apparently in serious condition, as well, shot four times, these two suspects, again, linked to that shooting by police. of course, internal affairs will now take over this investigation, as is the case

in any police-involved shooting. live here in strawberry mansion, natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> natasha, thank you. also, breaking right now, chopper three over another police-involved shooting there is one in southwest philadelphia. we're hearing an officer opened fire at a car, where a suspect wanted for assault on a police officer was inside. police later found the car abandoned. that suspect remains on the loose. also, tonight, six men sworn to uphold the law now accused of breaking it. the six men, once philadelphia narcotics officers, are facing long list of charges. investigators allege they were part of racketeering conspiracy. our walt hunter was the first to break this story. and he spoke exclusively with one man who says he was a victim of this alleged corruption. walt? >> reporter: well, federal prosecutors hearsay the alleged misconduct of the six narcotics officers was far worse than any of the crimes ever committed by the drug suspects they were supposed to be arresting.

the six rounded up at their homes, and in one case had a vacation home at the shore, this morning, if convicted, five of the six could potentially spend the rest of their lives behind bars. this afternoon, in a exclusive interview, i talked with one man who says in a lawsuit and to me that he was the victim of these suspects. >> it was a nightmare. absolute nightmare. >> reporter: james mcintyre says he was wrongfully arrested and man handled by officers thomas and michael spicer in 2011 spending six months in prison before charges were withdrawn. >> i was dumbfounded. i was totally lost. i thought my world just fell below my feet when they lock me up for no reason. >> mcintyre, lawyer who filed the lawsuit, told me when he learned the officers are among six now indicted on corruption charges, it came as a great relief. >> i'm very happy and please that they are finally arrested for the things they've done to me and a lot of other people.

>> these acts allege in the indictment go beyond aggregious. >> the six accused of beating, drug suspects, dangling one from a highrise balcony, keeping at least two others in prison, without any charges. they allegedly stole half a million in cash and valuables, fbi divers searching the schuylkill for a safe from which they allegedly took $80,000. >> i've been a police officer for more than 40 years, and this is one of the worse cases of corruption that i have ever heard. >> reporter: at their first court appearance, all six pled not guilty. >> my client vehemently, vehemently denies these allegations. he looks forward to clearing his good name. >> reporter: but mcintyre believes they should be convicted and pay a big price for what they allegedly did to him and others. >> i think they should do every bit of their time and then some. because they were cops. >> reporter: now, the district attorney's offers says two years ago it, stopped putting these officers on the witness stand, fearing cases would be tainted. however, they say, it is possible, that convictions

before that involving the officers may have to be overturned. meanwhile, the police commissioner says this investigation is still wide open, and active. leaving the possibility that still more officers could be charged. live, at the us courthouse, walt hunter, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". also developing tonight, these are three of the five people police say robbed ceasar's casino in atlantic city. late this afternoon, state police announced the arrest of 19 year old isiah plumber, 20 year old duane, arrested lance rogers, that robbery happened july 21st, and police say, two of the suspects walked in with masks and guns then made off with more than $181,000. police haven't described the roles the other three played in the heist. all five are behind bars. well, friends, family, will gather tonight for the funeral for that woman who was killed during medical center shooting last week.

theresa hunt was shot while during a appointment while working as a case worker at mercy fitzgerald hospital in darby. police say that richard plotts pulled the trigger, also shooting his doctor. but the doctor fired back and wounded plotts. >> hunt's funeral is at 8:00 tonight at the funeral home of john stretch in havertown. a woman attacked and robbed, while getting off the trolley on baltimore avenue in philadelphia. an argument started as that woman walk through the door, man behind her then lashed out. outside the trolley, the man appears to hit the woman and then takes her headphones. she wounds up needing stitches in her lip. police say that they hope this video will help them catch the man who attack her. well, new at 6:00 tonight, the pennsylvania state police strongly defending its physical fitness test. the justice department is suing the agency, saying that that test descriminate against women.

our jan carabeo live at the state police barracks in wynnefield tonight, jan? >> reporter: chris, here it is there is lawsuit laid out in ten pages t has to do with that state police physical fitness test which involves five events. now, they've changed throughout the year. but typically, they involve running, situps, pushups. according to this court document it, discriminates against women. it is easy to see. men far outnumber women in the pennsylvania state police force. this the february graduation where for every woman there were about ten men. and now, cold to go this federal lawsuit, the department of justice claims that the state police's physical fitness test violates the civil rights of women, going through the selection process for entry level trooper positions. >> it is time that cases like this -- >> nancy, an employment discrimination attorney, in bala cynwyd. >> to keep them out, based on an arbitrary physical fitness exam, is doing a disservice. >> reporter: according to court documents, between 2003

and 2008, all applicants had to complete five physical fitness standards, a 300-meter run, a one and a half mile run, situps, pushups, and vertical jump. physical trainers like this of philly fitness say these types of tests are naturally easier foremen. >> it is just a little easier foremen to build that overall muscle, more testosterone, but it is not something that you can't do in women. >> reporter: only two to 6% every men failed the physical tells. while about a quarter of all women failed. not only does the suit allege that the test has impact on women, but acclaims a test for physical skills not required to perform the job. >> you have to be able to see to fly a plane. you need to be able to pass all aspects of this physical fitness test to be a state police officer. >> meanwhile, state police vow to fight the suit. >> myself, and i believe everyone in the pennsylvania state police, is add meant that our standards not be lowered or changed or different for men and women. it is the same job and it has

>> we have breaking news right now, rain east alert is in effect for medford, burlington county. a kitten found in the vicinity of eaves mill road, route 541, and route 70, is being tested right now for rain east. the county health department says that 13 people, three cats, and one dog, have been exposed to that kitten. if you live in this area, you're asked to keep your pets inside, and to make sure that they have their rabies shots if they haven't had one in a year. on the health watch tonight, new help for breast cancer patients who are not only fighting the potentially deadly disease, but also the difficult side effect that come along with treatment. >> "3 on your side" health reporter stephanie stahl here with a old remedy that might have new hope. >> really does, providing lots of hope. well, these side effects, things like joint pain, depression, and anxiety, so truck, almost 50% of women stop taking the drugs. which increases the risk of cancer returning. well, now, pet researchers

crescendo by the weekends, not in a great way. i'll explain. take a look outside, where it is pretty quiet on the beach. but still some activity in ocean city cape may county getting ready for a great end of the week, maybe few showers over the course of the weekend. our live neighborhood network takes us to leadership academy in philadelphia where the temperature is 76 degrees. you can see from the morning into the afternoon those clouds bubble up and southwesterly winds blowing. keeping it very comfortable, but a lot of deep blue sky, and that's because the humidity is just solo it is very refreshing, and very comfortable out there. it will stay that way at least for a little while. now, talking about temperatures that are pretty mild, philadelphia, 79. wilmington, 79. reading, 77, mount pocono, 70 degrees, after morning high of 45 degrees. which wasn't even a record. allentown bounced up from cool morning low of 51 to actually 76.

so, not so bad. still some 60s to the west, through state college, pittsburgh, only 71 degrees this afternoon. so this cool pool of air that is marching its way through central pennsylvania, will slowly make its way toward our region, but these showers are just going to kind of die out. future weather shows that line that's over the central part of the state moving eastward, perhaps a few sprinkles, in the lehigh valley overnight in the poconos, but really just loses all of its strength by the time it moves eastward. now, by thursday, we will be seeing a shower possible, especially through south jersey, with temperatures in the 80s, then by friday, another chance of a shower with this front. saturday we see these two systems coming together, bringing us a better chance of clouds, showers, and also some cool temperatures. here we go again. another weekend that could be on the cloudy side. hasn't been like that. we've had string of very nice weekends through most of the spring, at least part of the summer. meteorologist, justin drabek has part, that part of our

story. >> thank you, kathy. we're been luck over the past several weekends, dry across the delaware valley. that will will change this weekend. the reason change in our weather pattern. we look at the water sabor, tells us how much water is in the upper atmosphere, moist air in blue, counter clockwise flow going on across the eastern us right now. clockwise flow, coming out across the western atlantic ocean. and in the middle, lots of moisture. what's going to happen for saturday, sunday there is all shifts eastwards. all of this moisture will start to move into the east coast. again, over the past several months, we've been dry all across the region. we go all the way back to late spring. march, check it out, our most wet month on the weekends, over two and a half inches. april only 100 of an inch of rainfall on the weekends in may, .38 only trace in june and july. just over inch and a half, but a lot of that came late sunday night. so how much rain are we talking about for the weekends? model prediction. there could be over 1 inch of

rain shown by the areas in blue with higher amounts along the shore. so jersey shore goers, delaware beaches, not the best beach weekends coming up. for more on the forecast, and the timing of the rain, and a look at the seven day, we send it back over to keith. >> i thanks, justin. looking at conditions to be quiet tonight, partly cloudy skies, it will be mild, low 65. during the day tomorrow, just isolated afternoon shower. the high temperature 85 degrees. as we look ahead, better chance of showers on friday. the best chance saturday. few showers around and more showers sunday, as those two systems come together. the high 82. now, monday, it still will be steamy, stormy, won't be until late tuesday, that a front sweeps through and finally dries us out. high temperatures will stay in the 80s, and it will be a little humid on i guess tuesday, and also, for wednesday. down the shore those temperatures will be in the 70s, 80s. i want to remind that you or at the shore will be live from barnegat light on the northern tip of long beach island tomorrow.
