in philadelphia this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> now at 11:00 o'clock, if your daily commute includes the 495 bridge in delaware, we have the news you have have been waiting that hear. lanes of this busy bridge that have been closed are back open tonight. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. >> it's the site people waited weeks to see. traffic flowing through southbound lanes. and while the relief from the closure is immediate for those headed south, the work is not done yet. here's nat is a brown. >> reporter: welcomed sight as cars whiz by along the i-495 bridge near wilmington. southbound lanes are flowing smoothly nearly two months after traffic along the north and southbound lanes came to a screeching halt. >> it's been mess. 95 been backed up. be late for work everything. >> reporter: bridge was closed on june 2nd officials noticed a span where columns were tilting. the $35 million repair project was set to end on labor day but

money to help close that deficit. tonight the governor's officer says it is looking at all options and the governor will meet with legislative leadersing in week. >> tonight two penndot contractors charged with stealing millions of taxpayer dollars are free on bail. 54 year old robert sleigh man and 62 year old went face charges including theft and rob bribery. he stole $3.6 million by double building contracts. billing for hours that were never worked and billing for equipment never purchased. they say that sleigh man who was supposed to be speccing the work falsified records to help new went carry out that scheme. >> it's about money. it's generating large sums of gotten games. >> vehemently denies bribing anybody, he steadfastly maintains that for every day that he had this contract he did the work. >> the indictment also alleges that a penndot employee who discovered one case of fraud

free donovan mcnabb fighter and invited her to speak at the world meeting of families here in philadelphia next september. there's new information night in the ebola outbreak in west africa. a medical helicopter from georgia is heading to liberia to evacuate two american missionaries infected with that virus. meanwhile the cdc has issued a warning to avoid all non search travel to liberia, sierra leone and guinea. the outbreak is hitting those countries hardest. now officials are pleading for international aid to deal with an epidemic expected to worsen in the coming week. >> while it is unlikely that the disease would spread if the virus were detected in the united states, the cdc is taking action to alert hell care workers in the us and remind them isolate and tests suspected patients while following strict infection control procedures. there have been more than 1300 cases of e bowl la in west africa some 729 people have reportedly died. >> now to the crisis in the mill east.

israel and hamas have agreed to a 74 hour humanitarian cease fire that will begin at 1:00 a.m. our time. the announcement today came after israel's prime minister vowed to destroy the network of tunnel that is hamas has used to strike israeli soldiers and civilians. us secretary of state john kerry call the cease fire a chance for the two sides to come together. >> this will last for 72 hours, three days, precious time. it is a lull of opportunity. >> during the cease fire there will be negotiates on a truce in that 24 day old gaza war. new at 11:00 tonight a deadly shoot out in nicetown. "eyewitness news" at bristol and hick street where three people were shot. one of them kill. the survivors are at temple hospital tonight. one is in stable. another in critical condition. police have not made any arrests. >> the woman who for years refused to sell her atlantic city home to casino developers

or being late for red light and i don't think it really helps traffic at all. >> this is a pilot program that is only scheduled to last one year. at the end of that time the police chief says they will hold public hearings and re-evaluate. in abington diana rocco cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> well massachusetts woman survived to tell an incredible story after an ax crashed through the windshield of her today. >> it happened along i-95. police say an elderly couple was behind a landscaper's truck and that landscaper had just left a job site without securing the hatchet. well the tool flew out smashed through the couple's windshield and buried itself in the dash bore right in front of that woman. >> right at eye level with this woman. if it had penetrated through further and hit her she would have been injured or killed. >> incredible. shaken but unhurt the couple pulled over safely of the truck driver stepped, too. he admitted his mistake he received a $200 for not securing that hatchet.

>> there's a big bank hold um in hollywood tonight. that contract dispute is it ping the brakes on the cbs hit comedy the bing bank theory. there are several reports the show's five main cast members have not reached a deal with warner brothers television. they reportedly asking for big races. production was supposed to start wednesday. season eight is scheduled to begin on september 22nd right here on cbs-3. >> looks as if we have a bumpy stretch of weather straight ahead, kathy. unsettled again. we went through this the month of july and it look like as we if into the month of august it's going to be a repeat performan performance. during the day tomorrow, we will see a few scattered showers but it's the weekend that we're really faux cuff on. it is not going to be a complete wash out, but it definitely will be wet. take look outside where it is a very busy night. down the shore still some if he can on the boards in ocean city, cape may county. this is a view from the mew suck pier camera high a top there. it is still pretty busy despite the late hour. temperatures are very

comfortable as well. we have high clouds streaming up from the south with some tropical moisture as well. so it will be increasingly cloudy and humid overnight and during the day tomorrow. on storm scan three you can see the showers moving up from the mid atlantic through raleigh. but here are all the high clouds that will be streaming in. for tomorrow morning you'll have sunshine through high clouds and then finally the clouds will take over. usually the average high in august we see temperatures in the mid 80s. that won't be the case as we start the in tomorrow average high on the first is 87. by the 31st 83. we will be below average to begin the month. temperatures right now holding on to the 70s along the i-95 corridor into the south and east. but north and west cooler temperatures in allentown, 67. the pock nose 61. but ocean water temperatures warming up right now at 71. some cooler air to the west. we will see some of those numbers low temperatures will be in the 60s overnight tonight. so during the day on friday we'll watch this front approach from the west. this warm front being push back toward the shore. it's going to squeeze all that

moisture up the eastern seaboard and provide us with a few afternoon scattered showers. temperatures will be in the 80s. the real squeeze play gets under way on saturday with more numerous showers. temperatures in the 70s. the same goes for sunday. the system begins to pull away but it won't be completely out of here till about tuesday. as far as the rainfall amounts through tomorrow evening and extending through saturday evening, you can see the totals. really varying a couple of our models say not that much rain. a few of them the american model and european models still say about an inch of rain or so. as we look at our future amounts you can see along theism november corridor by saturday morning we're saying about an inch of rain and by sunday pretty much the same. but the higher amounts to the south and east of philadelphia. this appears to be where the bulls eye is down the shore and heading toward the delaware beaches with lesser accumulations as you move to the north and west we'll continue to fine tune this forecast during the nighttime hours and of course during the day tomorrow.

>> the day began with baseball's trade deadline and high hopes for philadelphia phillies fans. but the 4:00 o'clock deadline came and went. we didn't make a move. phillies did not make single deal. and maybe the worst news came in the third inning of tonight' game when cliff lee walked off the mound injured. this was the pitch. 85-mile per hour cutter.

lee tour hisly bow and came out of the game. the same injury that forked him to miss two months this season. he came off the disable list 10 days ago and could be done for the year. wish him the best. >> the phillies won this game with a nice offensive showin sh. grady sizemore got it started with a two rupp double in the fourth. the phils took it 10 to four. ruben amaro, jr., spoke before the game about the trade deadline. he said the teams didn't show enough interest. >> i'm not disappointed. more surprised that there wasn't more aggressive, um, i guess action you can call it from the other end. pretty good baseball players here and, you know, our goal all along was to try to improve the club and there really wasn't a deal to be made that would help us do that. >> the birds were back on the field at the novacare complex in south philadelphia. players working on the fine points trying to get better as the season approaches.
