good morning to you. >> good morning liz, wealth ride n so people will probably be surprised at just the amount of water just sitting on the roads this morning so it will blow very much any kind of early errands that you have. let me take you out show you what it looks like. i will show you down in rehoboth beach. the laps over the last couple of hours see some of the showers that we've been dealing with, and there you go. so the temperatures are cool, winds out of the northeast about 14 miles an hour there. storm scan3 this is wide look at it. but you can see, there is a lot of moisture associated with this system. we zoom into the philadelphia area closer along to the shore areas and you can see the shore primarily is where you are finding a lot of the showers and some of the heavier showers, as women moving past cape may now moving right along the shore line. we move up to the north little bit, atlantic city, seeing heavier rain at the present time. our temperatures are cool. they're in the 60s right now we won't be warming up all that much today.

below normal with temperatures staying right about 78 degrees. but that said, we could be dealing with even some filtered sunshine, little bit later on today. so, our future weather showing, look at this, this is at 11:00 this morning, you can see the difference, we start to thin out with some of the showers, we could be finding this dry slot moving in. so not a total wash out for today. we have to keep the chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the forecast, but i think that's a better look, maybe than what we are finding first thing this morning. doesn't look bad right there. so we will continue to follow up that time line. see when we can clear this system and see what follows. liz? >> thank you carol. back in news, a three year old girl is dead this morning the victim every stray bullet. happening right now police are questioning a suspect in this case steve patterson outside news headquarters, steve, all started with a argument? >> reporter: an argument liz an argument, four people are

shot, one little girl is dead, because of a senseless argue between two men. police tell me that one of those men walk away from the argument while the other decided to pull out a gun and start firing. we can show you video now from the scene as you mentioned police say originally they had a man they were calling a person of interest, now named as a suspect in this case, in police custody. it all started about 9:40 friday night the 1500 block of adding street. again, four people are shot. the man involved in the argument the one that walked away, shot in the head, he's in critical condition the rest just caught in the crossfire. a male shot in his 20's, in the arm, a female in her 20's, shot in the leg. i'm told they're going to be okay, both in stable condition. but that little three year old girl just sitting on the porch shot in the chest she's returned to the hospital where she is pronounced dead. the police captain on scene fills us in with the rest of the horrific details.

>> unfortunately, the three year old passed, the other people in stable condition first male involved in the aarpment he is in seriously critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. it is a tragedy when anything like this happens. >> police say they recovered the weapon in this case. that person of interest was named that way for several hours, before that person now is named a suspect. again, in police custody at this time. reporting live, from police headquarters, steve patterson cbs-3, "eyewitness news" back to you liz. >> thank you steve. new this morning the violence continued overnight here in philadelphia. police were called to the believes that neighborhood in south philly shortly after midnight. that is where a man was shot at 13th and katharine streets. so far police have not made arrest in this case, and the condition of the victim has not been released. also, new this morning, a woman is struck by a hit-and-run driver in north

philadelphia. it happened at eighth and allegheny around 1:30 this morning at this hour, police are investigate whether the driver intentionally struck the victim. investigators have a vague description of the car, a green pontiac grand am. the victim was rushed to temple where she is listed in critical condition. in the meantime, rescue divers delve into the murky waters of delaware river to search for driver. eyewitnesses spot add car in the waters off of the 5300 block of talcony street shortly after 10:00 o'clock last night. chopper three overhead rescuers searching for about 90 minutes there before suspending their operation. no victims were found. >> another search, this in delaware county, authorities will return to park today continuing their search for two bodies, believed to be burried there. a murder suspect led upper darby police to indian rock park in springfield friday afternoon. he told officials he stabbed a

man and woman to death in his apartment two years ago. dismembered their bodies, then burried them in the park. >> tonight we tried to hand dig our way where he claims the bodies were located and we weren't able to get through the dirt. so we called in an upper darby front end loader and we were able to dig. >> so far the search has not turned up any evidence of the victims. and developing at this hour, a boater once thought have gone over board may actually be on the run. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones tells us why investigators in atlantic county are so suspicious. report we are now learning bid some facing a criminal investigation, and authorities believe he may be alive and may be trying to run away from police. >> forty-five year olan drew biddle was last thought to have gone missing on the

waters off longport. rescue attempts by the coast guard turned up nothing after biddle boat racing champion was thought to have crashed a boat into a buoy. passenger on the boat swam to shore telling authorities he didn't know what happened to biddle nearly two weeks ago now they confirm the egg harbor township police department is circulate ago flyer to law enforcement because they are investigating that biddle may have not been on that boat, meaning, he may have staged his own disappearance. >> he is actually a real nice guy. >> frank said he work with biddle here at this marina in northfield. he is not buying the accident supply been staged. >> i don't think he could have disappeared or anything like that i don't think did he. that will i really think he is missing. >> atlantic county prosecutor's offers tells "eyewitness news" biddle and his partner are accused of several counts of theft for allegedly taking possession of boats in trade, then re selling them and not paying off the loans. and that biddle was indicted on three counts of theft by

deception, and additional open cases pending grand jury review forbid l. police here are urging anyone who may have seen biddle recently to contact them here immediately. reporting in egg harbor township, new jersey, todd quinones cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and now, to the latest on the deadly ebola outbreak, the first of two american aid workers infected with the virus is expected to arrive at atlanta hospital sometime over the next few days. both were working in liberia one of three west african countries, affected by the worse outbreak of the disease on record. cbs correspondent omar a via frank a has the latest from atlanta. >> a jet equipped with medical isolation unit will carry the first of two american missionaries infected with ebola to the u.s. in the coming days. it will then return to liberia to pick up the other. both will be treated at atlanta's emory university hospital. >> we have developed the unit which can safely care for a

patient with a serious communicable disease. >> doctor kent brantly and missionary nancy rifle were working in liberia when they contracted the deadly virus. bruce johnson heads the group that sponsored the mission. >> obviously this virus has take answer lot out of them. they are very weak but responsive, being able to get up take care of their needs and our conversing with loved ones with their doctors so that's real encouraging. >> there is no vaccine for ebola and no known cure. doctors here at emory same their priority to make sure the patients other systems are strong. >> we have to keep the patients alive long enough in order for the body to control this infection. >> federal health officials say eye lakes protocols will keep the virus contained. >> we do not see ebola spreading within the us. >> the first cases could arrive this weekend. in atlanta omar via franco

welcome back, back now on "eyewitness news", it was another down day on wall street. the blue chip index dropped for the fourth day in a row after the newest unemployment report failed to change the mood. jericka duncan reports from the new york stock exchange. >> the arrows were pointing down on wall street. the dow jones industrial average ended the week with another lost after thursday's decline of more than 300 points. a strong unemployment report failed to spark a rebound the labor department says employers hired at a steady clip through july. the economy gained 209,000 jobs last month foreman ooh fact during to financial service toss construction. unemployment rate end up to 6.2%, as more americans started looking for work.

drier slots moving in a little bit later on this afternoon but look at this this is the boardwalk in ocean city where they're having their 52nd annual arts show, goes all weekends long, a lot of rain has fallen along the shore areas. we pick up almost 2 inches of rain through sections of wildwood. so it has been a wet one. let me show you on storm scan3. you can see some of this heavier rain, as it moves right along the shore areas. that's not to say that we're not seek some rain through philadelphia and just to our adjacent western suburbs but the very heaviest of this rain continuing right along the shore areas. some of it is off shore, which is okay, but the stuff that's on shore is probably not exactly what people want, as they plan their weekend along the shore areas. the temperatures are pretty consistent though, every place. we've got readings in the 60s 68 degrees through philadelphia, and just an agree or two away from that in other locations. it is going to be a wet weekends but it is on-off rain. i think we're certainly in the on rain right now but we will be finding off-rain later on

this afternoon and there will be some drying slots moving into various areas, so not complete wash out today or tomorrow either. but know that there are showers out there. temperatures remaining in the 70s today, tomorrow they just barely get to the 80s 81, 82 degrees, but there are fronts around, and they're just different things around that will make it so that the weather is little bit agitated as we go through the weekend. we can't totally rule out thunderstorm even by the time we get to monday, so the unsettled time period. what you are looking for the graphic that times it out your clock in the corner look what happened by 11:00 a lot of the rain according to this many could out peer model pulls off the coast. left with scattered areas of some showers, and some clouds, but look at the breaks in the clouds. and then by 9:00 tonight we've got more breaks, we've got some showers scattered around perhaps. and then by the time we get to tomorrow, then this is noon tomorrow, we have some more

showers, scattered around, and let's start this one up. and you can this, as we get into the longer range by 6:00 sunday, are we looking at some showers in places? and do we find that again on monday? and it is possible. so in and out of the rain showers, not a complete wash out, either one every these days, it is just the wettest this morning. as far as thes go, they're pretty impressive. by 3:00 this afternoon we've already seen more than that through the wildwood area. but you can be expecting possibly to be adding to your rainfall totals. so this guarantee this is exactly what's going to happen, buts that you see the heaviest rain to the south and east, lesser amounts as go to the north as we go through the rest of the weekends. stowe will be a wet weekend the way these weather systems are riding. lots going on, with high pressure tropical moisture, that sort of thing. and speaking that far tropical storm bertha kerr respect the way from land, however watching for it in the caribbean. but never gets into hurricane strength. it doesn't bother the us, high ray. we're looking at temperatures

have out there. we definitely have some clouds, have some showers and you can see just the way the light is being diffusion dollars by some of these raindrops that it is a wet morning out there. storm scan3 showing how wet it is, and you can see that some of the heaviest rain moving up along the shore areas, the good thing about this that a lot of this will be moving out during the day. so we will be getting dry slots working in here. so the rain shield heaviest at the shore, it is to starts to lessen the party inland you go, by the time looking at allentown, reading not finding much at all going on. 68 degrees, right now that's out at the airport in philadelphia, 67 in trenton 66 wilmington, 66 along the shore area, where it has been very, very wet this morning. and overnight. now, by noon, 73 degrees, the showers, are on and off not everybody's seeing them. we could be finding filled evidence sunshine, could you see a thunderstorm later in the afternoon? possible. everything is in the forecast

"eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is live outside police headquarters this morning, where detectives, we are hearing spent the night questioning a suspect. steve? >> reporter: liz, yes. based on what we're hearing from detectives and police, this is a story about two decisions made, argument between two men, one of the men walks away from the argument, the other man pulls

out a gun, shoots him in the head as he's walking away, and continues shooting, and just several people get caught up in the crossfire including three year old little girl. i want to take you to the scene though. we have video from last night now, police say they were talking as you mentioned to a person of interest. described that way initially when they brought him in. now being named suspect in this case. this started at about 9:40, friday night the 1500 block four people shot, the man walked away, shot in the head, i'm told he remains in critical condition at this point. the rest just people, bystanders, caught in the crossfire, male in his 20's, shot in the arm female in her 20's shot in the leg. i'm told both of those people will be okay, they're both in stable condition. but, again that little three year old girl, just sitting on the porch while all of this was happening shot in the chest. she was returned to the hospital where police say show was pronounced dead. we spoke to the captain about

burglary spree. it is happening in several burlington county towns like delran westhampton and moorestown. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has this story. >> high steak jewelry highs in moorestown, nieves snuck in, while homeowners were away, took $100,000 in jewelry from the second floor master bedroom, nine h.u.p. block of board on landing road. >> my daughter's wedding was saturday. and they were at our wedding so that's -- they came back and found out that their house had been broke mean. >> neighbors say the thieves broke into the home, broke a back door while the security alarm was disable because work was being done at the house. four similar break-in's in moorestown in the neighborhood near creek road less than mile apart from each other. and others like them in delran and westhampton, in the last week. those departments are all now working together.

and then deteriorating trends. so that's the way this weekend is going to look. right now not the brightest start to the day. as we look at the ben franklin bridge jersey side, philadelphia side, and then, we take a look at storm scan3. and you can see we're finding a lot of heavy rain. one of the reasons that the communities right along the shore, there is an urban and small stream flood advisory until 9:45 this morning because some of these areas have pick up between one to 2 inches of rain, so depending on where you are, you are either dealing with a whole bunch of rain, along the shore areas, and through sections of eastern new jersey, burr get little closer to philadelphia, it is less, then you get little farther away from philadelphia, and it is practically nothing. that's what you're seeing out through the lehigh valley and the poconos. right along the shore that's where the heaviest rain s however, you can tell the direction of this rain. you can see this heavy batch. and if it follows this little path, it is going to stay out in the ocean. there will be some dry slots moving in. ill show that you in just a second. so you can time out the rest
