have been filed just yet. now, this violence broke out in the 1500 block of southing street in grays ferry last night three people including that little girl were shot. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live at the scene with new information in this developing story. matt. >> reporter: natasha, after that horrible scene here late last night neighbors rallied here calling for peace. >> we fired up, can't take no more. >> reporter: their anger overshadowed only by their grief as another philadelphia neighborhood has to bury another small child, this time it's a three-year-old. >> today it was someone else's child. tomorrow it can be yours. >> reporter: saturday's peace rally happened on 1500ing. police say two men were arguing and one started shoot at the other. the suspects bullets found other targets, a 28-year-old

woman and a 21-year-old man were hit but will be okay. the young girl sitting on a pomp was struck in the chest and died shortly thereafter. >> she was a good girl, man. she was a good little girl. everybody loved her. everybody loved her, man. >> reporter: the mother of the 28-year-old victim didn't want to show her face but spoke to cbs3 court reporter steve patterson. she said her daughter was braiding her hair when they were both hit. >> the baby just came to get her hair done. a little three year old. >> reporter: meanwhile a community mourns, their pain and their anger visible on a cloudy afternoon. >> why was she out there. why couldn't she be out that late? why couldn't she be sit ting on the porch. >> reporter: there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest an conviction in this case. we're live in grays ferry tonight, matt rivers, cbs3

"eyewitness news". >> well, developing right now the first of two americans stricken with ebola lands in atlanta. this marks the first time the deadly virus will be treated in the united states and many are very concerned. cbs news correspondent omar villafranca has more. >> reporter: a patient dressed in a full white containment suit carefully stepped out of the back of an ambulance saturday afternoon. another person also dressed in protective clothing led the patient into emory university hospital in atlanta. the patient is american doctor kent brantly who was infected with the ebola virus while working with patients in liberia. he'll receive treatment at the hospital. >> we are ready. we are looking forward to trying to help this patient and assist his family in any way possible. >> reporter: brantly was flown from west africa to the united states in a private medical jet after landing at george's dobbins airy serve base he was loaded into an ambulance which was accompanied by several

vehicles and a police escort on the 15-mile ride to the hospital. the procedure will be repeated in the next couple days as a second ebola patient, american aide worker nancy writebol is transported from africa to atlanta: this marks the first time that anyone with the incurable disease has been brought to a u.s. hospital. emory is equipped with a specialized isolation unit to ensure the disease does not spread. >> i truly believe in the practices we have in place and i have no specific consideration for my personal safety or my colleagues. >> reporter: brantly's wife amber released a statement that says it was a relief to welcome kent home today. i spoke with him and he's glad to be back in the u.s. she also thanked god for giving him the strength to walk into the hospital. omar villafranca for cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> turning to our weather now we're stuck in the clouds at least for the start of this week. enjoying a picnic and riding the carousel. we're staying dry for now but how long is this going to last. meteorologist justin drabick joins us with the first forecast. >> natasha, pretty lucky today as most of the rain happened very early this morning especially east of the city, so not the best beach day at the new jersey shore, delaware beaches. right now on storm scan3 just some clouds across the region, seeing breaks from the city north and west. little more sunshine across the lehigh valley warming the temperatures up. showers and storms well to the west but more showers developing to the south so we'll have to watch this as they slowly move northward. we're under the gun with the chance for scattered showers maybe overnight and maybe sunday. not a washout. we could see a few showers around especially during the morning hours. 77 degrees at the airport now in philadelphia, 81 in allentown. there's that impact with more sunshine. cooler at the shore, lower clouds there, a breeze off the water, that ocean water at 69 degrees. again, so these temperatures are on the cool side.

upper 70's some of the suburbs, 77 in quakertown, 72 in doylestown this hour. the dewpoint temperature pretty high right now. we're at 65 degrees so it does feel humid. it will be a muggy night across the region and that kind of continues through the rest of the weekend so an uncomfortable feel to the air mass. 81 tomorrow, a little bit of sunshine, still the chance of scattered showers. better shot for showers in the morning at the shore, up in the poconos i think we see a little bit more sunshine, chance for a scattered shower in the afternoon with highs in the 70's. coming up in the forecast we'll time out these showers for you on sunday and talk about warmer temperatures returning in the seven-day forecast. that's coming up in a few more minutes. get the updated fork any time with the new cbsphilly app. check live radar and share your storm pictures with us. download the app now on itunes. natasha. >> thank you justin. authorities return to a delaware county park to continue their search for two bodies believed to be buried there. a murder suspect led upper darby police to indian rock

park in springfield on friday afternoon. john gont told officials he stabbed a man and a woman to death in his apartment two years ago dismembering their bodies and then burying them in the park. police found absolutely nothing today. also a woman is in critical condition after being struck by an alleged hit and run driver in north philadelphia. this happened at eighth and allegheny about 1:30 this morning. police say the driver of the car ran over the victim a second time when she fled the scene. the suspect was arrested at home after crashing her car near 25th. a philadelphia police officer suffered minor injuries when his car collided with two vehicles this morning. "eyewitness news" at germantown and west glenwood. investigators say the officer was responding to a robbery call when he was sideswiped by another vehicle. the officer's cruiser then struck a pickup truck head on. a new jersey nanny is now under arrest charged with dui. police in toms river say a

mother hired 50-year-old susan porfito gibson through an online service to take care of her son. police say the mom came home on friday afternoon and found gibson passed out drunk on the floor. gibson woke up, ran away and within minutes she had crashed her car. she's being held on $50,000 bail. the food bank of south jersey brought its hope mobile food pantry to winslow township, new jersey, today. residents who qualify for assistance, they picked up groceries at school number three on sicklerville road. the mobile food pantry will be stopping at the school on the first saturday of every month. the south jersey food bank is partnering with the perfecting church to make all of this possible. stay with us. still ahead on "eyewitness news" weeks after the conflict in the middle east began and still no ceasefire. a report coming up from israel. also, hundreds of thousands are told don't drink the water. we'll tell you what led to a state of emergency in ohio's fourth largest stench an unusual sight in one city

>> got a story you'd like us to investigate? e-mail your ideas to i-team at cbs3.com. >> caught on camera, a rare tornado hits istanbul turkey. you can see the funnel cloud throwing debris all about as it moved through that city. no exact reports of injuries or damage were released but rooftops of buildings were ripped off in the storm and the same severe weather system also dumped heavy rain which led to flooding in some areas as well. and now to the crisis in the middle east. a ceasefire between israel and palestine untraveled just two hours after it began on friday and now israel's prime minister says hamas militants will pea an an intolerable price if they continue to attack his country. here's cbs news correspondent alphonso van marsh. >> reporter: benjamin netanyahu reiterated saturday night that israel will not back down as long as hamas militants continue to fire rockets at his country. >> hamas again will learn the

hard way that israel will do whatever it must do to protect its people. >> reporter: netanyahu'ss remark came on national television a day after the ceasefire collapsed. two israeli soldiers were killed and another was abducted in an ambush attack. after least 100 palestinians were killed as shelling continued in gaza city on saturday. the rapid developments in this conflict hit close to home here where missing israeli soldier went to school. many gathered here to pray for his safe return. >> we should do everything that we need to bring him home, to bring him home and to use all the force necessary to bring his home. >> reporter: his family is demanding israel not abandon his son. hamas said on its web site it wasn't aware of a missing israeli soldier. >> the governor of ohio declares a state of emergency in the toledo area, that's where about 400,000 people are being told to not drink the

water. officials issued a warning today after tests revealed the toxin in the water possibly from algae on lake area re. water distribution centers have been set up all around ohio's fourth largest city and most stores have already run out of bottled water. an oregon man decided to celebrate his 21st birthday by walking across the cables of a steel bridge. police were called to the scene because onlookers thought the man was about to jump. the man successfully crossed the cables climbed down the stairs and was arrested fortress passing and disorderly conduct on his birthday. >> i could think of a lot of other ways to celebrate my birthday, legal ways. kind of looked like it was going the rain all day. >> we kind of lucked out. we got that rain overnight early this morning and then kind of cleared out a little bit. cloudy skies. looks like tomorrow still a threat for a few showers, not an all day washout. keep that in mind you may need the umbrella. best shot to see steadier rain

will be at the shore. not the best beach day in the morning hours tomorrow. live look at ocean city right now, it's okay, just cloudy skies. a little bit cool, though, temperatures in the low to mid 70's down there with that breeze off the water. check out storm scan3. you can see a lot of cloud cover across the region just to the south and east, delmarva peninsula, south jersey that's the thick clouds. breaks in the clouds philadelphia north and west seeing some sunshine. another round of showers heading northward moving in south and east of philadelphia overnight into early on sunday morning. we have more showers to the west, that could also impact us later sunday afternoonly until then looks okay this evening so i think many areas stay dry through much of the night tonight. it could be a scattered shower that does pop up especially south into delaware and again early tomorrow morning best shot to see some steadier rain down at the shore. temperatures on the cool side. we're in the 70's right now, it's muggy, though. the mugginess continues

overnight. atlantic city 69 degrees, that's what the current water temperature is right now. nothing hot even to the west we still have clouds with showers around pittsburgh, state college, so again, another cool day on tap to finish off the weekend with below average temperature t the reason for the stubborn weather pattern is this front is kind of situated just off the coast and it's the focal point for various and little weak areas of low pressure move along it. as long as it's in this area we'll have clouds and the threat for some showers. tomorrow early in the morning and again in the afternoon we could see scattered showers, key word there is scattered, temperature in the low 80's. monday i think it's looking a little bit better as the front kind of moves a little farther to the east. i think we'll see a little more sun. monday we stay dry through much of the region. tuesday same story, still humid, upper 80's. then we'll watch this next front move in from the north and west on wednesday. looks like monday and tuesday we dry things out. watching the tropics, this is bertha poorly organized right now as it moves towards the

dominican republic. it is a tropical storm, winds currently at 45 miles per hour. the track takes it northwest then more northerly so it stays off shore. it could possibly become a weak hurricane late tuesday night early wednesday morning. that's well off the east coast. there could be higher surf and dangerous rip currents that develop by the middle of the week so coped if you're at the shore. tonight looking pretty dry, just that clouds. there's the pocket of possibly steadier showers moving in, 6:00 a.m. sunday morning so from philadelphia south and east best cans to see wet weather. we dry out into the afternoon. anywhere we can't rule out a scattered shower maybe even a thunderstorm in some spots. things finally quiet down later sunday night. monday i think looks pretty good. there could be a stray shower at the shore but we finally do see more sunshine. how much rain are we talking about? not a whole lot. certainly less than a half inch in most spots. again best shot to see steadier rain will be across south jersey. a shower chance overnight.

otherwise just muggy conditions, partly cloudy, 67 for the low. sunday again morning showers around maybe a scattered shower in the afternoon. 81 for the high temperatures. so still below average. not the best looking beach day tomorrow at the shore with the clouds around goingo humid. best shot for that rain in the morning hours, 78 for the high temperature. wind continues off the ocean out of the southeast 10 to 15 miles per hour. here's the extended forecast. more sunshine for monday and tuesday. mid to upper 80's for the high temperatures. so we're going to warm it up again gog to be humid. chance for some scattered showers and storms wednesday afternoon. by the end of the week real nice. thursday, friday, into saturday mid 80's, sunshine low humidity. >> wow. it's still so pleasant. >> not bad for early august, yeah. >> it's still early. got a ways to go. thank yo justin. >> rob ellis is in for lesley today. >> things have been pleasant for the phillies. maybe a little too late in the standings department. they played much better baseball of eight.

a w tonight would assure a victory of the first place nationals. phillies got an early lead last night. cody asche hit right there. robert hernandez eight strong, allowed one run. marlon byrd who has been one of the few good moves the club has made the last several years dealt his 21st home run right there. phillies win the game two to one. not all good news on the phillies front. thursday night cliff lee had to leave the game with the recurrence of a left elbow injury to side line him more than two months. he's expected to get tests done on monday, a visit to noted orthopedic surgeon dr. james andrews could also be in the order. it's likely he's thrown his last pitch for the season for the phillies. eagles a few days away. preseason game.

second open practice camp tomorrow at lincoln financial field. of note at friday's practice, that's riley cooper, you never like to see that, that's a walking boot for a sprained ankle. he claims it's just precautionary, nothing serious. cooper's head coach chip kelly his offense is forever evolving. >> the biggest thing you have to do is identify the skill sets that you have and then adjust to those skill sets. we've got some new guys so we'll tweak what we're doing based upon what their skill sets are as we continue to evaluate here and say how do we run this as we post, we didn't do this much in the past but now that we got a different type of person in that situation let's do this. >> pro football hall of fame weekend in canton ohio. andre read after waiting nine years will go into the hall as well as former eagle defensive end claude humphrey. they're among the seven joining that exalted club. indiana pacer is and nba all-star paul george endured a gruesome compound fracture last night in a scrimmage in

las vegas. we blurred the injury. the graphic nature of the video, you do not want to see trust me. underwent surgery later that night. no timetable on a return. positive news there was no damage to his knee or ankle. philadelphia representing strong in the little league championship. taney dragons took care of business today in bristol connecticut beating west salisbury maryland 11-won. team is comprised of 12 and 13-year-olds they will take on delaware state champion newark national tomorrow at 11:00. bridgestone invitational rory mcilroy continues his strong play right there. he's just three shots back of sergio garcia for the league. tiger woods however on 13 his approach lands in the bunker right there. he would bogey the hole. he is plus one through the first three rounds and 15 strokes off the lead. not looking good for tiger who is trying to bounce back from that back surgery. >> still trying to find it.

the sixth festival of the tour. nearly 150 craft beers from 76 brewer reese around the country were served. participants didn't go hungry. several food trucks were on hand keeping folks well fed i never know what kind theof adventure awaits. that the days are longer, and the breeze feels a little sweeter. and, thanks to volvo, i'll pay nothing for repairs or maintenance for 5 years, nothing. they even cover my first month's payment.
