today it is wednesday august 6th, good morning everyone i'm ukee washington. aim natasha brown in for erika von tiehl. here are stories we are following today, developing now a jogger is found dead in a northeast philadelphia park, and now police are on the case. new this morning police tried to solve mystery surrounding a death in upper merion. and donald trump wants to do some name dropping, he wants his name taken off of two atlantic city casinos. we will throw it over to katie in the weather center to get our forecast. good morning, young lady. >> good morning, we have a hiccup to go with our hump day. >> i see, okay. >> cold front. we have berta making her closest path to the shoreline too. so not really that terrible of
4:31 am
a forecast, but it is a little hiccup or a speed bump. >> okay. >> rip currents maybe. >> exactly. we will talk about that shore weather because if you hit the beaches you may end up with decent weather initially but rip currents are an issue. i want to show you satellite view here over the last couple of hours, of berta, that bull's eye red smack dab in the center of the screen. we will put it into motion. you can see it pulling off to the northeast. this is not a storm that directly impacts us obviously but when we have tropical activity in the opened ocean water it will churn up that surf. even though we will have some sunshine today you may be tempted to go into that water. we will talk about the issues that we have got because of berta and showers and storms later in the day. lots to talk b we will get to it. the guys, back to you now. be cautious and stay alert. >> that is warning from police to woman in northeast fail after a body of missing runner
4:32 am
was found near a cemetery. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry joins us at police headquarters. would i imagine police are hoping to get the more answers to day. >> reporter: police are continuing to investigate, as a northeast community is shaken after the body of a wife, mother of two was discovered just hours after being reported missing. now that victim has been identified as 46 year-old connie maclean murray, her body was found near a cemetary at home and convent avenue. she went for a jog in penny pack park around 9:00 monday night. her family called police around midnight when she did not return home. her body was discovered just hours later tuesday morning. sources tell "eyewitness news" there were signs of a struggle, the woman may have been beaten and strangled. detectives are urging joggers to be careful if you are heading out there this morning. >> people should use extra caution. women out there jogging or walking they should be with
4:33 am
someone else with them for protection until we find out what went went on. death is a suspicious death for different reasons but i cannot say until anything until we have a definitive answer. >> reporter: they hope to get that answer later today. police are awaiting the official medical examiner's report to determine the cause of the death. we're live at police headquarters, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". thanks, same a. 4:33. traffic and weather on the three's. >> good morning, natasha, good morning. we will start off with the view of the shore here. taking a live look. things quiet at the moment, halo effect on the area boardwalk lights here in ocean city but it is tranquil for now but we are facing the boardwalk. we are not facing the ocean. we will be seeing that rip current risk, stronger surf pick up here as berta is making its closest path to the shores right now. lets go to storm scan three. right the now things are quiet
4:34 am
on cry land. we have had nothing more than a handful of clouds out there throughout the overnight. wider zoom starts to show signs of life through western pennsylvania. that is our next cold front starting to get it act together and then somewhat slow to move. we have the entire morning at least until we start to see any activity on the radar firing up here at home. meanwhile lets talk about that rip current risk one more time. berta is not making any direct impact to our shoreline but rather a northeast turn, it could clip new foundland and canada but that is it as far as north america is concern, but the ocean swells obviously radiates out away from the storm itself because of the wind, that is associated with the storm. that kicks up our surf and can lead to higher risk of rip currents as well. this goes for everybody. further in you go less the risk but i don't want to minimize this at the beaches right on the ocean, open water, where we will have the worst but don't under estimate it if you are maybe taking a
4:35 am
dip in the bay. 73 degrees the current temperature at philly international. sixty-nine in wilmington. sixty-eight in trenton. nice mild start, not terribly muggy out there. these showers and storms do rumble through later in the day for philadelphia and near shore points, bob, good morning. >> good morning. 4:35. live look here at the crew is still hum pink out here on 202, this is 202 northbound right here near the schuylkill expressway. they have been working overnight monday through friday from 8:00 o'clock to 5:00 the next morning. they are repairing all of the potholes in the road joint as we roll up towards the schuylkill expressway. right now only left lane is opened between chesterbrook abe 422. blue route looking good, no problems at all for headlights north bound in through mid county for folks coming back from the poconos, heading down towards 95 beer in good shape. burlington bristol bridge all traffic is stopped for a quick early opening there. grab a jumbo coffee heading

4:37 am

4:38 am
name. >> i will say that i'm innocent and i look forward to my day in court. this over reach is an example of what is wrong when people have power and all they care about is the opportunity for advancement and other things and don't care about peoples lives. >> chaka fattah junior is free, on $50,000 bail and will be arraigned next thursday. congressman chaka fattah has released a statement about his son's indictment that reads quote we have now moved from speculation to specific allegations. this will bring the matter closer to a day in which my son can defend himself in court and i am confident that the facts will clear his name. i have full confidence in my son; i love him and stand by him today and every day. well, there is much more to cover on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning, why is donald trump suing the atlantic city casinos that bear his name. it was a very long night for phillies, we will show you how it ended when we come back

4:43 am
>> got to get over the hump. >> at least one quick day and it is out of here. we are not dealing with prolong issues like we had over weekend where clouds wouldn't break, we had rain to dodge. now it is a quick moving front. shouldn't bring in any severe weather. it will be the scattered variety of showers and storms. it leaves behind nice weather. we have been talking about berta as well so we will touch on that too. here's a wide zoom on storm scan three. more than anything you can trace the movement of the clouds and precipitation. there isn't a well define front that is moving through at least that is in the visible on the radar just yet. there is berta still out to sea and making its wrapped movement to the north east here but even though it is pulling away a lot of times you can get a delayed reaction when it comes to your weather pattern or any kind of residual reactions you get because of the weather pattern. so for example you will see rip current issues becoming
4:44 am
more prevalent here throughout the day-to-day because the storm is leaving behind these ocean swells that need sometime before they get to the shoreline. watch for that dangerous rip current risk. here is your cold front. not a potent one but what it does do is provide relief. by tomorrow steam factor starts to go away. lower humidity. watch for showers and storms later today and then sunshine thursday, friday, we will keep low to mid 80's around the board which is warm but not oppressive. it will be really nice couple days here. meanwhile today isn't terrible. we will start with some sun. we will get to you 86 degrees. later this afternoon a shower or thunderstorm rumble through. we will drop back down to 65. heading forward, thursday, friday looks beautiful. so does saturday for that matter. overall weekend as a whole not bad a few isolated showers by sunday, ukee, back to you. in sports phillies and astros at it again tonight in south philadelphia after spending a long night at the ball yard last night.
