came over, i guess maybe to help him and then his sister was shock. >> reporter: peco workers were at ladder where kids were shocked at 1:15 today, o'connor cool at 26th and south will be closed indefinitely. >> draining it, refilling this pool will not be opened until we find out what the cause of this incident were today. >> reporter: parks and recreation department says workers were out earlier working on the the motor of the pump, this woman's children say they were shock that the same lad inner june. >> we were climbing up the latter and it shocked us. it was a little shock. it was like if you were a foot away you could still feel it. >> reporter: mom did not report incident. >> i didn't because i thought they were crazy. they weren't holding on to the ladder. they were just swimming in the the water. >> reporter: there were a total of 12 children swimming in the pool here at the time, as for three kids who were shock, again they were rushed to children's hospital where they were last listed in

stable condition and we are being told that they should be just fine. reporting live at 26th and south streets, todd quinones, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks, todd, thank you. now to breaking news just a short time ago both pennsylvania and new jersey announced their first human cases of west nile virus this year, both of those sickened are from our area. >> three on your side health reporter stephanie stahl is with us right now and what have you learn so far. >> reporter: we have more information, new information, 49 year-old resident of gloucester county new jersey was hospitalized and is now recovering from west nile virus. the the pennsylvania case here in philadelphia, was a man who was also hospitalized, and he has since recovered. it is height of the mosquito season and many are tested positive for west nile virus. >> the the number of infected mosquito pools that we have collected that are infected with west nile virus is actually rather high this year and it is continuing to increase. >> reporter: doctor caroline johnson with the philadelphia

health department says risk of getting virus is expected to increase over the next few weeks, mainly because there are so many infect mosquitoes in the area. most people infected with west nile virus don't get sick, about 20 percent have symptoms. >> it can be a very serious infection. it tends to affect the elderly most often and vulnerable persons who do not have some healthy immune system. the symptoms are neurologic, and so people develop headache, high fever, confusion. >> reporter: health departments continue to spray to control mosquitoes but there are steps to take to protect against them. >> wear mosquito repellant when you go outside and they are usually active in the early morning and dusk and early evening. those are best times to stay inside. >> reporter: and health officials are also urging residents to get rid of any standing water that is where mosquitoes breed. we have more information on this virus, everything you need to know to protect

mother, keisha williams died exactly almost two weeks after carjacking and crash killed three of her children. thirty-four year-old died last night. she was in critical condition after she was struck by a stolen car at germantown and allegheny avenue july 21st. crash injured two other people, authorities now say that the suspect jonathan rosa and cornelius crawford will face four counts of second degree murder and conspiracy. the united states today launched air strikes in northern iraq's kurdish region to stop advancement have of islam i can extremist. u.s. war planes hit artillery belonging to the group known as isis leaving some of those militants dead. president obama authorized the air strikes last night to protect u.s. personnel who are working with the region and safe guard thousands of religious minorities who have been trapped on a mountain there, isis has threatened to kill anyone who comes down off of that mountain. tonight we are hearing from a kurdish exchange student in philadelphia studying at temple university, his heart, mind are half a

world away with his family in iraq. tonight he speaks with "eyewitness news" reporter charlotte huffman. >> reporter: fair of fa18 fighter jets dropped bombs on artillery positions of the islamic extremist group known as isis near city of erbill. >> that is really terrible. it is very catastrophic. >> reporter: this is a kurdish iraqi, his family lives just 100 miles southwest of erbill, he is an exchange student studying at temple and while he is a world away his thoughts are back at home. >> every day i get up here in philadelphia, the first thing i do in the morning i want to call my family and make sure they are safe because they are in a desperate situation. >> reporter: kurdish fighters trying to protect erbill are overwhelmed at sectarian violence escalating. >> to stop the advance on erbill i have direct our military to take targeted strikes against terrorist convoys should they move

"cbs evening news" with scott pelley will have much more on today's developments in iraq at 6:30 right here after "eyewitness news" at 6:00. new information, tonight, in the murder of a jogger near penny pack park and northeast philadelphia reward for information leading to connie maclean murray's killer is up to $50,000. the philadelphia parking authority and district council 21 added a combined $50,000 today. maclean murray's brother was a long time parking authority employees, and the group felt they needed to do something with the investigation. >> we have gotten a lot of tips, and we are running on those tips. none of and out yesterday but we will continue to work. >> reporter: maclean murray was found dead tuesday morning and police say she was strangled. so far police have no suspects, few leads and they are in need of the public's help. suspect in the deadly shooting at mercy fitzgerald wellness center in darby is behind bars tonight. richard plots, was released from the hospital of the

university of pennsylvania, on thursday and transferred to delaware county prison. plot is charged with the murder of his social worker teresa hunt two weeks ago and attempted murder of his psychiatrist doctor lee silver man. silver man suffered a grazed wound but return fire, with his own gun striking plots. caught on camera tonight a woman is rob while withdrawing money from an atm. this is surveillance video police are searching for that man who came up from behind that 64 year-old woman, attacked her, and then stole her money this happened in a wells fargo branch on frankford avenue last sunday, the victim was treated at a local hospital following that attack but she's recovering tonight. well, a cabdriver is dead after crashing his taxi into the cobbs creek section of the city this happened this morning along cobbs creek parkway near spruce street. the the 67 year-old driver was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

tonight investigators in delaware are trying to figure out why this plane crash landed. this happened near the jenkins airport at the town of wyoming, and authorities say that the pilot landed the single engine piper on the glassy runway but then the plane continued across the road before coming to a stop in an empty yard. pilot and passenger on board were not hurt. security concerns are growing, at the annual music fest in the lehigh valley. as "eyewitness news" reporter knoll mcclaren tells us organizers and officials are looking at how to keep things safer in the wake of two nearby shootings. >> reporter: striking up the bands for 31 years, bethlehem's music fest has grown from a small town celebration of opening acts, to a musical main event attracting a million visitors from across the country.

stretch of weather. outside we are looking good down the shore, isn't this an interesting sight. go cart race track in atlantic city and underneath it the actual pier with the waves coming in but great night to be anywhere down the shore as well. storm scan three we are watching a few clouds to the south through sent rail and southern delaware, eastern shore, even through baltimore and washington associated with a frontal boundary to the the south and we are relying on a fair weather high pressure system to keep that to the the south over the course of the weekend and right now, it looks pretty good. right now in philadelphia, trenton, wilmington right along i-95 corridor a string of 81-degree temperature, reading 81. will allentown 81. air is bone dry making it feel very comfortable. barnegat light it is 75. look at ocean city, stone harbor, cape may, 78, 77, ocean water temperatures in the mid 70's. very comfortable. here that is area of high pressure i was telling but flow around it clockwise we will get northerly influence

of dry, comfortable air, temperatures in the 80's for your saturday and that will hold those showers and clouds to the south. we will watch this area of low pressure skirt to the east, and stay out of our region for sunday so it looks dry, pleasant, more humidity sneak nothing on monday as high moves off shore as well as storm to the south, all eyes will be on the front, it will bring showers and maybe a few thunderstorms on tuesday and that could stick around into wednesday. i want to show you latest on tropical stomach iselle 130 miles to the west of the big island still bringing very heavy rain to the rest of the island chain. it will continue to move further away, and not be a threat, of course to any other land parts. we are looking at the latest on it and also the statistics on this storm. it was first tropical storm in 22 years to hit hawaii made land fall on the big island at # 30:00, hawaii time. 60 miles an hour wind, flooding rains, mountainous terrain and mud slides and widespread power outages.
