nascar driver tony stewart. busy night for philadelphia police investigating a case where four people were shot, three of them innocent victims in cars riding by when the gun fire broke out. good morning everyone today, it is sunday august 10th i'm elizabeth hur and time is 8:00 o'clock here in center city philadelphia here's meteorologist carol erickson in the eyewitness weather center good morning to you and what are we in for? >> we're in for great weather today. 70 degrees. it is perfect to get outside, if you want to get outside and start that exercise program that every single weekend you say you will do, today you can do it. it is probably going to be more comfortable first part of the day because it will be warmer. we will add about 18 degrees to the temperatures we are seeing right now. look at these blue skies. sky cam three over the city looking terrific. why is it so dark in delaware? um, rehoboth beach, 71 degrees. let's help ate along. we will speed through time. this is time lapse over last

eight hours. boardwalk has calmed down and now they are starting to heat up again. 71 degrees. blue skies, loving it down at the shore areas, every single one of them. we also have a coastal flood advisory notice areas in green and that is because with that gigantic super moon pulling on those tides we are going to be finding just a chance of minal tidal flooding from a time period, ranging from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. so not a big deal but if you are in an area that tends to get minor tidal flooding you may find that through tonight. tomorrow we are looking at great weather as we are looking at today, notice not even a cloud on storm scan three. 72 degrees at the airport. sixty-six in trenton. sixty-nine in wilmington. out of the 50's in the poconos now we're up to 63 degrees. dew points remain low and humidity otherwise very low and you well enjoy today. eighty-four by noon. 88 degrees by 3:00 p.m. light wind, low humidity.

how perfect. how long does it stay like this though we will take a check on that with the eyewitness weather seven day forecast, coming up, liz? >> thanks for that, carol. now to breaking news as "eyewitness news" was first to tell you philadelphia police are questioning a person of interest in the murder of a mother in northeast philadelphia. connie maclean murray was found dead tuesday morning near penny pack park, she had gone for a jog the night before. investigators return to the scene of the crime this weekend, searching for clues. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live at police headquarters with the very latest, syma. >> reporter: police have a person of interest in custody for questioning after a missing jogger was found dead earlier this week in the northeast. this is as police continue to search for evidence police have spent the past several days in penny pack park searching for clues to find the person responsible for connie maclean murray's death.

they combed through at your use overnight in hopes of finding her cell phone. wife, mother of two went for a jog monday night when she did not return home her family called police. by tuesday morning, her body was discover at holmes and convent avenue near a cemetery. autopsy results show mcclaire murray tried to fight off her attacker but she was strangled. neighbors are on edge. >> it is scary. we're used to leaving the the door opened and now you think twice. >> it is very scary because we walk down there with the kids and it is just so close to home. it is unbelievable. >> reporter: connie maclean murray's viewing is scheduled for tonight her funeral for tomorrow morning. police have a person of interest in cost tuesday i so far, we're live from police headquarters, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". same, we have more breaking news right now. tragedy on a race car track. driver is dead after being struck by nascar driver tony

stewart. it happened at the motor sports park, late last night. the victim is fellow sprint car driver kevin ward, junior. the racers had collided in a previous lap and some onlookers felt that stewart deliberately hit war. sheriff's office says stewart is cooperating with their investigation. a representative for stewart -- >> make it very clear as i necessity there will be speculation and i don't want things taken out of context and i want to make it very clear that this investigation as in any death investigation, we are going to sit down with the district attorney and his staff and review when the investigation is complete. we are not making any inferencees of any criminal conduct at all. >> a representative for stewart said his thoughts and prayers go out to ward's family, and friends.

well, new this morning an argument end were four people being shot in the feltonville neighborhood. one of the victims was shot in the head, and is in extremely critical condition. investigators say two men got in the argument on the 4700 block of tampa street, one of the men police say got on the phone and called a friend for help. not too long after a car pull up with several men inside and bullets started flying. police say the intended target was shot in the leg and started running towards whittaker and wyoming avenue putting innocent by standers in harms way. >> at the same time there are two cars driving southbound on whittaker and unbeknownst, they are flying down the alley way and these two cars were hit. >> the driver of one was shot in the head and is in extremely critical condition and the other car, two back seat passengers were both shot in the neck.

they are in stable condition. victim shot in the leg is also in stable condition. police tell us that they do have two persons of interest, in custody. well, dozens gather to remember the victims of the deadly carjacking car crash in north philadelphia three children were killed and their mother died from her injuries on thursday. "eyewitness news" reporter, matt math rivers has this story. >> there has been good byeness this neighborhood lately, too many, sat the day, it was for keisha williams. >> i love you keisha. >> reporter: keisha, the 34 year-old mother of five, struck in that fatal hit and run just over two weeks ago. she died thursday night. three days earlier while she laid in the hospital her family and friend laid three of her children to rest. kier a was 15, joseph ten and terence seven. >> i just want to ask everyone to continuously pray for our family because we need it. >> reporter: saturday's vigil remembered all four who died selling fruit on their corner

for church. suspects in the car that hit them face multiple murder charges. >> i cannot even find word to describe what our family is feeling at this moment. >> reporter: keisha left two other children behind just 12 and 13 themselves. >> that was their only mom. that is the only person they knew. how can you explain it. you only get one mom. >> reporter: as sunset candles were lit as they had been each night since july 25th, keisha's passing final chapter of the terrible story. >> the hugs and the crying and we will get through this. one day at a time. >> reporter: there has been a half dozen or so vigils at the scene and this will be the final one, as this community moves on. in north philadelphia, matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new this morning philadelphia police need your help finding a missing mentally challenge teen. job chromier was last seen inside his home in the 2400 block of west fifth street. police say that the 14 year-old frequents the area

we are talking about legalized marijuana in pennsylvania for medical purposes. while a bill to legalize pot as medicine is stuck in the legislator the help of one little girl may hang in the balance. health reporter stephanie stahl has the story of one

family's emotional push for pot. >> reporter: seven year-old laurie, who has epilepsy is having a seizure, instead of the typical convulsions she nods off for a few seconds and then snaps out of it. >> her health has deteriorated as well as her developmental gains. she has lost last year. she was able to write her name. this year she cannot do that any more. >> reporter: while sheesible a to enjoy herself playing in the backyard in bucks county she now has trouble communicating. what are you doing? >> i'm playing outside. >> reporter: do you like play outside. >> yeah. >> reporter: she has had all kind of treatments but nothing stopped seizures, medicationing help a little bye cause serious side effects. there is say only thing that might control seizures is medical marijuana but it is not legal in pennsylvania. recent poll shows 84 percent of pennsylvania voters favor medical marijuana and there is bipartisan support in the legislator but no action was

several homes were also damage . and take lie look at the super moon, we are seeing this weekend. the super moon generally occurs maybe once a year but this year it is happening three times. the next one will be on september 9th. now lets check with carol erickson. you have the beach behind you. >> oh , i know, would i love to be on this beach. look at this. it is gorgeous. we have temperatures in the middle 70's in the ocean as i test witt my elbow. air temperatures, slightly cooler then that. it is really a pretty start the two day where ever you are. thinks a can't misinformation cast, our storm scan three, we're scanning but we're not storming. so we are in the finding anything out there. in fact we are hard pressed to find a couple of clouds and that will be the trend to take. temperatures are warming up at 72 in philadelphia, 66 in trenton.

sixty-nine in wilmington. we have 70 down in dover. sixty-three in the poconos. seventy in wildwood. temperatures are comfortable and they will stay that way, high pressure is here, temperatures will be getting in the upper 80's yesterday, 86, today more in the order of about 88 degrees. the sun definitely is here, tomorrow we're still in the 80's and then by the time we will get to tuesday we're still in the 80's but we have another feature and that is precipitation that is coming in probably second half of the day. maybe later then that associated with the cold front and lose pressure system and we could be seeing decent amounts of rain generated. i maine people with love to see rain coming out of the sky so we are not doing watering and that sort of thing and that may be coming that tuesday, early wednesday time period. future weather is, that is the time period there they are putting it but until then nothing much happening. the biggest thing to talk about all the way until tuesday is 12:00 midnight will be just maybe a cloud that starts to come in but then later on tuesday this is a look at tuesday morning.

"eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live at police headquarters with the very latest on this investigation, syma? >> that is right liz. police have a person of interest in custody for

questioning after a body of a missing jogger was found earlier this week. police have been spending the past few days in penny pack park searching for clues. they have combed through the area overnight in hopes of finding the victim's cell phone. forty-six year-old connie maclean murray was fun dead tuesday morning, wife and mother of two went for a judging monday night. when she did not return home her family called police. six hour later her body was discovered near holmes and convent avenue near a cemetery. autopsy result show maclean murray tried to fight off her attacker but she was strangled. now her viewing is scheduled for tonight and the funeral is scheduled for tomorrow morning. again, police have a person of interest in custody right now, for questioning, but so far, no charges have been filed. we are live at police headquarters, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and we have more breaking news, a sprint car driver is struck and killed by a fellow driver during a race. it happened around 10:30 last night at a motor sports park in upstate new york. the victim is 20 year-old

kevin ward junior was struck and killed by nascar driver tony stewart. the mens car had collided in a previous lap and the remainder of the race was stopped, a decision the ontario county sheriff's office agrees with. >> people that witnessed this were who are filed. they were extremely shocked by what they saw. i think it was extremely appropriate that the race be canceled at the time it was. >> officials at this time say their investigation is in the criminal in nature and stewart's manager says he will compete in today's nascar race at watkins glenn calling the race quote business as usual. in the meantime u.s. military says american jet fighters and drones have conduct four more air strikes on iraqi militant taking on the armored carriers and a truck that were firing on civilians. early indication suggest that these strikes were successful. in the meantime president

morning. we are following several breaking stories from overnight. homicide detectives, get a break in the case of a jogger found dead in penny pack park, investigators are questioning a person of interest, as we speak, the victim 46 year-old connie maclean murray was murdered when she went for a jog last monday night. in the meantime nascar driver tony stewart has struck and killed fellow sprint car driver kevin ward junior. it happened at the motor sports park last night, late last night. now four people in the meantime here back in our area are shot in the city's feltonville section. now one victim was shot in the head and is listed in extremely critical condition. the other three victims are in stable condition. police tell us that they have two persons of interest in custody in that case. wow. certainly a busy morning in news. >> it is, and as the weather can provide got news in all of that because the weather is going to be lovely once again
