good morning, we begin with the death of another hollywood legend. she died in new york. 89 years old, and her career on screen and set and stage spanned seven decades, but she was as well known on and off air relationship with hum fri bogarrd. more on her life and career on her broadcast. this morning, robin williams's suicide. he received a rare try about at the chinese theater. the lights dim of memory's william, the hand print left in the concrete of the legendary movie palace in 1998, and williams was remembered by his hometown baseball team. >> we lost one of our greatest fans yesterday, and he will be deeply missed by all of us. >> the san francisco giants had a moment of silence before last night's game.

released until final toxicology reports are in. that could take two to six weeks. >> coming up, more reaction to robin williams' death. a powerful earthquake hit mexico, it hit late last night, centered 150 miles south of acapulco. there's no reports of serious damage. the threat of heavy rain and flash floods continue in the northeast, and a slow moving storm system is dumping records amounts of rain on the eastern sea board. warnings and watches are from pennsylvania to maine. the baltimore area drenched yesterday, the most rain to fall in one day in more than 80 years. some parts got 10 inch, dozens had to be rescued, and homes were flooded. there are reports this morning of another police shooting near fergson, missouri. that's the town where an unarmed black teenager, michael brown,

was shot and killed by police saturday. our cbs affiliate in st. louis says a police officer shot a man who pointed a gun at him. now, the suspect is in critical condition. there were more demonstrations in ferguson last night. brown was stopped for walking in the street saturday and shot by a white police officer numerous times following a struggle. the police officer has not been identified after threats were made. brown's mother says the officer needs to come forward. >> you take your punishment. if you're a man, stand up, be a man, say i was wrong. that's how we can start to move on. >> witnesses say brown had his hands in the air when he was shot and killed. president obama called the shooting a tragedy and is urging calm. political standoff in iraq may be easing. the prime minister who refused to step down after a new prime

minister was appointed is losing support, and malwki told police commanders not to interfere with the political crisis. meanwhile, the united states is sending more troops to iraq. we are in washington with the details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. 130 additional u.s. troops arrived in northern iraq. the pentagon says they are there to assess the humanitarian crisis and will help coordinate air strikes and help with those. the defense secretary, chuck hagel, says this is not to be considered boots on the ground. at least 130 u.s. troops arrived in iraq tuesday. the pentagon calls them advisers on a temporary mission to assess the humanitarian crisis of those trapped on a mountain top by militants. >> very specifically, this is not a combat boots on the ground operation. we're not going to have that

kind of operation. >> reporter: the u.s. and the u.k. have been dropping food and water for the refugees in danger of starving who fled homes after the isis militants would kill anyone who refused to convert to isl islam. the troops will try to determine if it's feasible to rescue them, and if so, how. >> looking at, quite frankly, everything. it is so dire, we are looking at everything. >> reporter: tuesday, an iraqi aid helicopter crashed into the mountain killing the p inin ini injurying the others after many tried to jump on. they will try to evaluate how successful air strikes have been in helping the refugees. these additional 130 troops bring the total personnel in iraq to more than a thousand, about three years after the last u.s. troops left.

two german artists say they hoisted the white flags on july 22 in celebration of public art. they also mark the anniversary of the death of the german born engineer who built the bridge. they say they are returning the american flag that had been atop the bridge. and she was hollywood's royalty, actress lauren bacall died yesterday at the age of 89. she was a star on the big screen and later on the broadway stage. >> i went through a lot of trouble to get you out of here. >> reporter: a star in her very first films, playing opposite bogart, and in her voice, she delivered the most famous line in film history. >> you know how to whistle, you just put your lips together and blow. >> reporter: and she perfected her look, chin down, eyes up to the camera, a look that came about by accident. >> i always said, i was really

nervous, had no confidence in myself, and so i found that my head, and the only way to keep my head still was just hold it down and look up. >> reporter: she was born betty joans percy, daughter of jewish immigrants and first causen to israel perez. she was a model and this picture caught the high of the director, howard hawk, changed her name to lauren, and her film took off. she was immediately one of hollywood's leading ladies, and she met her future husband. bacall was 19. he was 45. >> what was your first step? >> the usual one. >> i didn't know there was a usual one. >> reporter: they starred together in "the big sleep," and again in "key largo." while they continued to make movies, they started a family, two kids, but in 1957, he died of cancer, and bacall said she
