breaking news this morning flood watches and warnings, remain in effect throughout much of our region as rain begins to move out, but not before, swapping cars in south jersey like this one on delsea drive, in millville. police tell "eyewitness news" they have received several cars for flooded out basements. the good news a lot of the flooding is beginning to recede, katie will have more details coming up in just a matter of moments. it is wednesday, august 13th i'm ukee washington. i'm erika von tiehl. also breaking an all out search to have a pair of men break in the home and opened fire on three people in wilmington. just moments ago two robbers target a local convenient store pistol whipping the clerk and we have new video into our news room. we will show you more. >> i went through a lot of trouble to get you out of

here. >> that is why i didn't go. >> remembering lauren bacall her unmistakable voice and unforgettable rolls and lines. >> golden age of hollywood. >> yes. here's katie with the latest. >> i want to start off if i can to take you back in time. we are looking at 4:30 yesterday morning where we were facing round of showers and embedded heavier rain moving through. we will put things in motion here and as we got to the late morning, you will recall we had a break. garden state didn't see a heck of a lot toward the tail end of the morning but then this batch came through, baltimore had flooding, d.c. had flooding, and it all came our way. moving through kent county, new castle and then man, south jersey did get hit. embedded thunderstorms were there but this was truly more than anything a major rain event for our area. and here's where we stand right now. we do still have lingering rain out there across portions

of the northeast tension, lehigh valley, but at this point the brunt and the worst of this storm, front lets be specific here is now over. so we will at least have that going but we will be left with the lingering shower out there. take a look at this 6.5 plus inches of rain fill in millville. talk about location, location, location. south and central new jersey got club weird this system. middletown pick up 3 inches. the the list continues to go on. we do still have coastal flood advisories and a number of others that are posted, this particular one lasting until 5:00 a.m. so hopefully even though we will be left with lingering showers weather service will let some of these expire here but at the time of high tides, into the bays and certainly smaller streams, we may end up with some of it out flowing banks here at least in the normal fashion. we have to watch out for that if you are maybe on a street that floods out we will go forward in the the forecast. we should have some sunshine and a bit more means we will

have a chance to warm up. high of 84 this afternoon. just lingering showers today as we continue to transition away, bob. >> katie, good morning. 4:33 on this wednesday. live look at the roosevelt boulevard where they were rained out on that new construction project but the the inner drive still running uneven between broad street up through ninth street. they did that one night of pave, i should say milling here as you head northbound. most of the construction, rained out last night. so we're looking good here on the boulevard, downtown we will go a live look at the vine street expressway all of the roads damp and wet from the rain. mother nature putting on a light show this morning. pretty cool on the schuylkill, clear skies, but east in the background there you can see lightening lighting up over buildings in center city. traffic lights are out on davisville road and county line road so just watch it it is a four way stop there. in problems on the pennsylvania turnpike, from philadelphia all way to valley forge. bridgeton, new jersey route 77 is closed at bridgeton a

avenue, high water. that is something we will to have watch in the next half an hour to 45 minutes or so, first folks out of the gate, trail blazers, they find some spots that have some high water, maybe a down tree or trash candy brings laying around. ninety-five, schuylkill expressway looking good coming in towards the city and mass transit young no delays, ukee, back over to you. breaking news right now search for two gunman who opened fire in wilmington sending three people to the hospital. police tell "eyewitness news" two men burst in the home on the 400 block of north monroe street just after 11:30 and began shooting. three victims were rushed to christiana hospital. we are checking to see how they are doing. there is no word on suspects or a motive. two men pick up a 7-eleven convenient store in the frankford section of philadelphia, pistol whipping the clerk. "eyewitness news" on the 5,000 block of oxford avenue. investigators say this happened just before 3:00 this morning. detective are still there looking at surveillance video. neither man wore a mask so

they should get a good look at the suspect. meanwhile the victim is being treated at temple university hospital. "eyewitness news" has learned a motorcycle crash on the pennsylvania turnpike has killed an off-duty philadelphia police officer. authorities in newville cumberland county say three three-year old seth steelfox hit a guardrail. he was assign to the philadelphia police department's 39th district, erika. a south jersey police department comes under fire now a larger reward is offered for information leading to the person who pulled the trigger. >> "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry joins us from the west department forward police department with more on this investigation, syma? >> reporter: well, that is right police serve and protect our community but now they are won that need protection. reward of more than $25,000 is being offered for the at rest of the person who is responsible for this, someone fired seven gunshots at the west deptford police department early on tuesday morning.

now five of the seven shot hit a door leading to the police station, another one went through the department chief's office window. fortunately he was not inside at the time but a shift supervisor was just a few doors down, now, police are working to enhance grain i surveillance video, they say, shows the suspect's dark colored sedan. now this shooting happened around 4:00 o'clock yesterday morning and they say in the video, it also shows the same car chasing out of their headquarters from the nearby lie bring parking lot. police say they will to whatever it takes to catch the shoot egg. >> we're going to follow-up every lead we have and every contact that we have made over the past couple of weeks. >> reporter: again, the offer now is more than $25,000, and police have stepped up patrols. they say the area is safe but if you have any information that can help, contact the police. live from west deptford, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness

news". happening today preliminary hearings for two men charged in the deadly hit and run claimed the lives of the mother pain children. jonathan rosa and corn neil just crawford face murder charges for carjacking and crash in july. their accused of sexually assaulting the carjacking victim. stolen suv hit the mother and three children selling fruit to benefit their church. a big day to day for philadelphia as it makes its pitch to host the 20916 democratic national convention. committee members will visit the city landmarks as part of the dnc's two day tour to make sure philadelphia can pull off the event. city leaders are confident philadelphia's experience at hosting the party convention will give us an edge. >> i'm praying that we will get this thing. we have a lot of hard work. we tried to get it three years ago but now mayor says he is ready to go. i asked rendell to be the cheerleader which he is the best cheerleader we have and agreed. i think we will be successful.

monday in a bedroom. williams was 63, he had been struggling with severe depression. 4:39 right now. with atlantic city bracing for another casino closing, new jersey regulators will report today how much money casinos and internet gambling operations won from gamblers in july. this follows revel's confirmation that it will close its doors in less than a month. 3,000 workers will be out of a job after september 10th. revel was just one of three casinos shutting down in the next few weeks. local businesses, and other close by, wonder how this closure will impact their sales, but neighbors are trying to stay optimistic. >> you know, is there so many people that are concentrating on making this happen that in a few years we will look back and say you know what, atlantic city that was close but that was now. >> revel, show boat and trump plaza shut down within the next few you weeks 8,000 jobs will be lost. that adds up to about a third of atlantic city's work force.

appeals for calm appear to be working in ferguson, missouri after two nights of protest over the police shooting on an unarmed teen. it was standing room only in a church which helps ted a forum, civil rights activist the reverend al sharpton says

pursuit of justice is not a political issue but it is about a boy whose dreams and whose hopes have been taken away. another 130 u.s. troops have arrived in iraq but defense secretary chuck hagel is promising that they are there as advisors. he told marines at camp pendle ton the troops will assess humanitarian crisis facing thousands of displaced iraqi civilians. hagel insists it is not a combat operation. well, okay, rain is stopping, yes. >> it is exactly right, it started and it never stopped. >> yes. i slept like a baby though. it was a most from some folks in southern new jersey. 6.5 inches in millville. it is all moving away. there is still some lingering

showers, some of you are getting hit hard here. some left over rain is, in fact, steady at this point but not as widespread as last night, you can see the bulk of this has moved out to sea and it is a storm system that is actually centered, the storm center circulation is over quebec. it is dragging these front through and until this cold front is totally gone we cannot say that we are in the clear. i do think you'll be left with the shower out there today and in addition to that there will be a secondary front that sort of just rides on the heels of the first main front and then by tomorrow, it could bring a shower to the poconos. here's is what left. flash flood warning in effect across southern burlington county and most of ocean county and again, worst of the rain is starting to pull away here at these areas shore points and shore communities but it is still, sort of that, just lingering effect so delayed reaction that comes a along with the rain, that is flooded a lot of you out here in egg harbor we have a flood

warning posted. this one lingering until 8:30 this morning. lets take a look at what the rest of the day has in store. there will be much more sunshine then what yesterday brought. that allows temperatures to get back in the mid 80's. we should spike 5 degrees from yesterday's highs but there will be lingering showers as well. it is transition day, wind flow will generally be turning from the west to the northwest but with time, so with time, much more comfortable air starts to move n we will drop back down to the lower 60's. over the course of the next few days here's secondary front that knocks temperatures back ever so slightly for friday but generally philly will even up with sunshine the next few days. poconos could get a shower tomorrow and then we can even overall not bad, saturday nice, showers move in by sunday. ukee, back to you. the the phillies play angels again late tonight out west, you may have been sleeping, some of you by the time phillies game ended early this morning. phillies got off to a good start they led two to nothing on marlon byrdes 25 out rbi in

specifically, still some rain out there and it will be somewhat hit and miss throughout the morning but gradually with time skies will be clearing. here's where we stan right new lower 70's, upper 60's across the board, still muggy out there, we will need this wind flow to shift direction and bob mentioned the atlantic city air show, it looks like a much nicer forecast, definitely breezy down at the shore here today but we will expect more sunshine and temperatures to be warmer out there, and you might hit mid 80's i should say here before it is all said and done. the it may end up being warmer at the shore then inland, courtesy of the cooler air taking over. lower 80's expect tomorrow, a lovely day but may be a shower from the secondary front coming in and then friday it is nice across the board as we flirt with 80 degrees. the sunnies back. another fall-like day for us out there and certainly below average when it comes to temperatures, guys, back to you. here's some of the stories our sister station kyw news radio 1060 will be following today. new lawsuit alleged that whole

right now, flood watches and warnings remain in effect throughout much of the area, heavy rain, turned roads into rivers overnight, some drivers like this in millville, cumberland county had to be rescued. down the shore atlantic city broke a rain record. check out boardwalk there. swamped. that rain came down hard and fast. now the same storm, just dumped several inches of rain to our south, several water rescues were reported in kensington, maryland, just outside of our nation's capitol. it is wednesday august 13th, hi, good morning i'm ukee washington. i'm quarter von tiehl. we are expecting more wet weather. we will check with katie fehlinger outside on the sky deck with what we can expect,

good morning. >> i obviously do not need the umbrella right now. it is more hit and miss. the worst is absolutely, done. don't worry about any additional flooding concerns but with that said we do still have a number of advisories and warnings that we have just mentioned that we will walk you through. storm scan three shows wide zoom here and actual center of circulation with the storm that brought us all this rain well up a across quebec here but what we need to have happies a cold front to get out of here. when we zero in on our area you can see we certainly do still have lingering rain out there, primarily at this point confined just east of the 476 corridor there heading up the northeast extension but the brunt, it is done, again there may be a lingering shower as morning progresses but a lot of times we have a delayed reaction with flooding. is there i still a flood warning that stays in effect until 8:30 across southern branch of new jersey here where we got hit with inches upon inches of
