they're filling times square in new york and packing love park. a call to action after the shooting death of an unarmed teenager in missouri. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. >> people rallied in the streets across the u.s. that are reports that police in ferguson may release the name of the officer who shot and killed 18 year old michael brown tomorrow. >> meanwhile this is the first night that protests in ferguson are being supervised by the missouri highway patrol. the state took over security after count tee police fired tear gas into large crowds and detain journalists. last night's confrontation prompted tonight's national moment of silence. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco was at tonight's show of solidarity in philadelphia and she's life at love park. diana? >> reporter: chris, a lot of people tonight's vigil were very upset by what they have been seeing play out on the streets of ferguson. so tonight here in philadelphia at love park, they took a stand

ribbons after four days of rallies and protests in ferguson turned violent with looting and tear gas being used by police in riot gear. the governor replaced the police force there with the state's highway patrol. in an effort to ease tensions. and the president called for peace. >> let's remember that we're all part of one american family. we are united in common values and that includes belief in equality under the law. basic respect for public order. and the right to peaceful public protests. >> reporter: the president also had words for local authorities for rumors that they did not allow journalists to do their jobs there. the organizers of tonight's event say this will be the first of many to come. we're live in love park, diana rocco cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> diana, thank you. now to the downpours we saw across the area tonight. take a look at the seep in center city on independence mall. an outdoor event quickly became soaked.

meteorologist kathy orr with mr. on this very fast moving system that ripped through tonight. kathy. >> were you 5:00 o'clock this afternoon, on storm scan3 we saw some clouds in a weak disturbance right over reading and lancaster firing up a few showers. over the course of the evening as time progressed from 5:00 to about 8:00 p.m., we saw it explode right over that i-95 corridor, philadelphia, heading across the river into camden. and this continues to move eastward. it's right about to move offshore. the disturbance will continue to move offshore with the rain by midnight and you can see through barnegat, barnegat light, love ladies and seaside heights pockets of heavy rain but nothing like we saw earlier. there's some cooler air filtering in behind this. also, some rain cooled temperatures mainly in the 60s with the exception of wildwood at 72 and the poconos at 54 degrees. come tomorrow morning the real cool air behind this will be filtering in. we'll be waking up to temperatures mainly in the 50s in the poconos and in the 40s coming you. it will be a very start to the

weekend. we'll watch over the weekend as it slowly does rebound temperature wise and then keeping a careful eye on sunday for showers all of that later in the broadcast with the seven day. chris. >> we'll see you then, kathy. we expect to find out in the morning if philadelphia's schools will open on time this year. the school reform commission is set to hold news couldn't friend at 10:00 o'clock. new at 11:00 night, parents and community leaders held a town hall meeting they discussed the direct of the district. some tonight pushed for the city to take back control after decade of state control. >> we're in a giant mess. a mess that we didn't create. a mess that we didn't create because we have no say. we have no voice in out our schools are run. what we want to do is return schools, return our physical schools to the people who are the most invested in it. >> the district is facing an $81 million budget gap right now. it was hoping to collect tens of millions of dollars from a proposed cigarette tax but that bill has not passed the

legislature. now to the philly lyle league and their request for championship. the taney dragons are in williams port and less than 24 hours from their first world series game. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is there tonight with more on how the players and their parents are getting ready. >> reporter: it was a beautiful day for some baseball and some batting practice. philly's favorite little leaguers were lock in the cages. let's hope they mash balls like this during friday game. they take on the southeast regional champs at 3:00 o'clock. >> i'm excited. i'm nervous. i want them to show everybody how great they are and perform well and have fun and enjoy the experience. >> reporter: while the kids swung their parents looked on. a few made their way up to williamsport thursday and the rest will follow on friday. including the parents of star pitcher monet davis. >> the sacrifices that come with her playing sports a lot driving putting off a lot of everything, work, vacation.

predator many this video was shot last month by a fisherman off the coast of ocean city, maryland. that is great white shark circling the boat. it even tried to take bite of the motor at one point. that fisherman says it's not unusual to so sharks off the coast but he normally doesn't see great whites. five more arrests have been made in the kaseen 93 heist at caesars atlantic city and investigators do believe this was an inside job. state police say that isaia plumber are aarons evans e add side door on july 21st and stole $180,000 in cash. plum her had been an employee at the hotel and cass soon know but was fired by caesars just a few weeks before the heist. so far eight suspects involved in the robbery are behind bars. police say they recovered much of the money in either cash, property or drug. >> pope francis is in south core tonight it's the first papal visit to the asian nation in a quarter century.

about scammer trying to take advantage of that curiosity. three on your side consumer reporter jim donovan shows you how to avoid becoming a victim of click jacking. >> this is not test. this is rock and roll. >> reporter: comedian robin williams was loved by millions and when word of his death spread, people immediately began posting messages on facebook and twitter. but some of those posts aren't what they appear to be. >> social media posts are being provided linking to videos, claiming that it's unreleased police footage from the time of hess death or information where you can see his last words before he died. >> reporter: but if you click on those links it takes you somewhere you don't expect. it's known as click jacking. >> if you do click, it will either likely lead you to a video player where it asks you to download the latest version in order to view the information. you're really just downloading virus. or it may take you to a survey that you have to complete by

testimony cher is 70 right now but as night fell temperatures have cooled understand wind out of the south southwest at 8 miles an hour. we have dry conditions right n now. the shower activity moving offshore. computer models underestimating the explosiveness of those downpours with the disturbance moving through this evening. that will be moving offshore and cooler air will be filtering in. right now in philadelphia 67. 63 in allentown. 54 in the poconos. and down the shore some warmer temperatures. around 70 degrees. barn barnegat some rain and the item which are at 70. dew point temperatures are the amount of moisture in the atmosphere. still a little bit on the muggier side with a 62 dew point philadelphia. drier in reading and lancaster we see dew points in the fours and that will be the trend overnight tonight. so when you look at the dew point right now sitting at 62. tomorrow's dew point temperature will be 46. and that puts us in the awesome range for friday. so very dry conditions. deep blue skies. and cooler temperatures. so 70s for your friday. saturday high pressure drifts to

the south. that means we get into a more southerly wind with temperatures in the 80s. and then all eyes on our neck frontal system moving in for late sunday. that's our next chance of showers. map maybe heavy downpours. any too many it rains around here it seems like it pours. were he have to keep an eye on everyone of these system. temperatures will be in the 80s on sunday. so overnight mainly clear. almost chilly. and fall like with low of 59 in the city. cooler in our suburb. for friday, feeling like september. with high temperatures only in the upper 70s. a beautiful day in the poconos. but only 68 for friday. 70 saturday. on the exclusive "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast and shore cast. saturday 84. sunday 87 with some showers late. and then you can see temperatures stay in the 80s next week but we see a few showers and storms sprinkled in between. that's a look at the seven day forecast. we'll be back with beasley and sports right after this.
