from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> on that are feet. it's over. complete game for mo'ne davis. >> a star is born. a little league world series. what motivated mo'ne davis to mow down the competition. >> and fueling the fire in ferguson, new surveillance video of mikail brown emerges. police say it shows him robbing a gas station right before he was shot. >> and new at 11:00 o'clock tonight, saying goodbye to four children who lost their lives in a massive row home fire. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm natasha brown in for jessica. as family and friends gathered to remember the young victims who will be laid to rest tomorrow, we have now learned that we will never know the cause of that fire. >> "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco joins us live from southwest philadelphia where

this community has just come together. diana? >> reporter: chris, tonight the fire marshal has determined that there was just too much damage in that fire to ever know what really happened. meanwhile in just a few moments here the caskets of those four small children will be leaving their church. tonight the family says this night is not about the fire investigation but rather remembering four young lives lost. four small caskets sit at the front of divine mercy church friday. four year old twins and brothers four year old patrick and september week old taj. >> they are angels and we pray that they will shine blessings upon us. >> reporter: in service family members remember the lives of the liberian american children killed now more than month ago. when fire tour through their row home overnight. the fire commissioner has now ruled they cannot determine what started the inferno. the damage is too extensive.

>> until they come up with whatever their findings aren't we don't have any comment at this time. >> reporter: five weeks ago the fire started on the front porch of home 6516. video shows the fire raging out of control. it damaged 13 row homes and five cars before it was contain much the family has criticized the fire department for not responding fast enough inn citing anger in the neighborho neighborhood. cousin moses tells us this day is not about that, but honoring the young lives lost. >> it's through the grace of god and, you know, the community that so many people who have been helping us throughout, you know, as we go through the grieving process. >> reporter: and the family says it is the community that has helped them through some of their darkest times. at some point they would like to sit down with the fire marshal and discuss the findings. we're live in southwest philadelphia, diana rocco cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> new at 11:00 o'clock

remembering the life of a promising young woman. friends of laura, held a memorial walk tonight from the art institute where she graduated from last year to the art museum. laura was found dead in a dufflebag last month in north philadelphia. the bag was dumped outside of a vacant home in kensington. students and staff still can't believe she's gone. >> and 22 year old jeremiah jackson is charged with her murder. police believe jackson targeted her because they think jackson thought she had money. >> now, we are track something rain as we head into the weeke weekend. meteorologist kathy orr is live on the cbs-3 sky deck where it has cooled down tonight. quite a pleasant night, kathy. >> it's beautiful out here, natasha. a little bit of a breeze. you can feel a change in the air at least tonight it will be feeling more like fall. i can't say the same for the weekend though. take look at storm scan3. we have a few clouds out here. those clouds giving way to clearing. temperatures still falling fast

though. in philadelphia 70. 60 in allentown. 50 in the poconos. 66 in wilmington and in millville it is only 60 degrees. here's what we'll wake up to. upper fours in the poconos. 50s in allentown and reading. the records are in the upper fours lower 50s in the lehigh valley and berks county. 59 in philadelphia. waking up to 57 degrees in trenton. tomorrow the good news is it will be warming up. slowly but surely by 11:00 o'clock with lots of sunshine we'll make it to 75 degrees. coming up, it will be feeling like summer again in the near future and then we'll be tracking some showers for sunday before you make those weekend plans we'll time it out later in the broadcast with that seven day forecast. i'll see you then. >> kathy, thank you. well tonight mo'ne davis is becoming a household name. the 13 year old ace pitcher led philadelphia's taney dragons to a win in their little league world series debut. how did she do it what does her mom think? "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is in williamsport.

>> reporter: the game ended with yet another mo'ne davis strike out and her teammates mobbed her on the third base side. but it didn't take long in this game before things went taney's way. >> philadelphia leads it three to nothing. >> jared spraying lot hit a towering three run shot in the top of the first inning setting philly's favorite little leaguers on path to victory. >> as soon as it went out, i was very excited. >> reporter: once she got that run support mo'ne davis didn't need much more. the incredible 12 year old right handers toed yet another gem. the team from tennessee didn't score and managed only handful of hits. >> as it weren't by i got to know the umpire strike zone so that helped me out lot. >> she helped out by phenomenal fielding. >> our defense and pitching like that as long as we can sequence the pitching to keep it in the yard we're in good shape. >> reporter: thousands were on hadn't to watch the game. little league officials don't

keep official totals but there seeing little doubt philly grew the largest crowd so far. so so amazing. i'm so excited for her. >> reporter: i guess it might sound like a silly question are you used to how good she is yet or does she stelle blow you aw away. >> i'm used it to. this game blue me away. i don't think she never had that many strikeouts. i'm not sure. this game actually blew me away. >> reporter: with this win the taney dragons will play sunday night at 7:00 o'clock and judging off of that performance today, i'd say they're up to whatever challenge awaits them. we're in williamsport, matt rivers cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> philadelphia certainly cheering on the taney dragons from the mayor to their school mates they are the talk of the town. in just few maps from now we'll have interesting insights into mo'ne and her teammates from one of the people who knows them best. well the revel casino and hotel will close for good labor day weekend. officials made that announcement late today.

hotel will close first on monday, september 1st at 11:00 in the morning. the kaseen no will then close on tuesday at 5:00 a.m. all events scheduled past september 2nd will be cancel. >> philadelphia's schools open on time but at a cost. while there not be teacher layoffs for now, there will be cuts to transportation, school security and sanitation servic services. the cash poor district is also cutting bus service for high school students who live win 2 miles of school. affecting about 7500 teenagers. on top of that the district will not fill any of its open positions. >> i want to reiterate we are hopeful that these are temporary reductions that could be restored if in fact funding is realized. >> no money for supplies. no art or music classes and principal who is supposed school disciplinary a counselor, a nurse of we cannot have schools like that. >> district of course faces an

$81 million budget deficit this year and if revenue from cigarette tax is not in place bee mid october, the superintendent says more than a thousand layoffs could be in order. the first day of school is monday, september 8th. well a worker fell to his death in an elevator shaft in atlantic city this morning. investigators say the man was doing some maintenance work on an elevator in the new york apartments on new york avenue when he fell. police say the victim 25 year old brian jaceme were you from the bronx new york. >> in ferguson my sorrow today police revealed that michael brown was involved in a robbery just minutes before he was killed by a police officer. police say that surveillance video shows brown stealing cigars from a convenience store on saturday. just before he was confronted by a ferguson police officer and shot to death. that officer was identified for the first time today as 28 year old veteran darrin wilson. the chief of police says that williams -- wilson rather did not know that brown was the suspect when he stopped him.

>> we're back on "eyewitness news" with a shark video that may make you shiver. this was shot in manhattan beach, california. several great white sharks were swimming near the coastline and one got a little too close for comfort for that one swimmer. lifeguards were alerted to was was going on but they lecked not to clear the water. well, a grand jury indicts texas governor rick perry tonight charging hmm with abuse of power. perry tried to force resignation of a district attorney who had been arrested for dui when is he refused, he vetoed millions of dollars in funding for her office. now a prosecutor says that was a crime. officials from perries office say they plan to aggressively defend the governor. democrats say the potential 2016 presidential candidate should step down. parkinson' disease and depression, two factors that may

have cribbed to this week's suicide of robin williams. tonight research being done right here in philadelphia. we have a better understanding of how the two are linked. here's "eyewitness news" health reporter stephanie stahl. >> reporter: ron robbins needs help with just about everything, tremors and stiffness from parkinson's disease makes simply standing or walking an ordeal. the 73 year old has a cane equipped with a lace sr. light to help him focus movements. he was diagnosed fifers ago. >> it's really a devastating disease. there are many days when i don't want to get out of bed. i don't want to move. >> he says depression weren't over kell ming and he understands why robin william took his own life. ron says anti-depressants help him cope. >> that is one is a depression medicine. this one has to do with the disease itself. >> the fact that almost 50 to 60% of people have parkinson's disease have depression is largely related to chemical changes from the underlying

disease. >> reporter: this doctor at penn medicine says people with the degenerative disease are depressed because they face a grim future but there are also neuro chemical changes in the brain. depression can be an early warning sign of parkinson's neuro search from penn found in addition to depression, newly diagnosed patients also suffer with anxiety and fatigue and it says there can be surprising side effects with a common parkinson' medication. >> that lead to compulsive behaviors like gambling, overspending, hyper sexuality. >> every day it's something new. pain, there's all of these things are just -- they're overwhelming. >> reporter: ron has deep brain stimulator that he says is very helpful. he and his family are hoping all of this new attention on parkinson's will help raise awareness and money for resear research. that could lead to better treatments maybe even some day a cure. we have a lot mr. information for you at cbsphilly.com click on health. i'm stephanie stahl cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

pope francis is urging south koreans not to fall victim a spiritual emptiness that will afflict wealthy countries. he visited a spline dedicated to 103 korean catholics who were martred in 1866. earlier pope francis rallied tens of thus sands of young people at an outdoor mass today. he met privately with survivors of the recent ferry disaster. mostly high school students were on board the ferry. >> well we talk about them earlier but we can't say enough about the taken dee dragon the talk of the town right now. hundreds open gathered to watch the team at city hall today when game one of world series. they're request of a championship turned some of their players into household names and while they have garnered some big named fans to those who know them best, they're just a great group of kids. ♪ >> the celebration started long before the victory at philadelphians cheered on the

you and you do you really mind this fall like feeling? not so bad. sweater weather tonight and perhaps tomorrow morning. but if you want to get in a jog or walk the dog early, it will be very comfortable. it's not going to stay that way though. take look outside where it is partly cloudy. right now in center city philadelphia. we're on the camden side looking across the bridge at the the city. looking pretty tonight our live neighbor network takes to us rehoboth beach delaware. late in the afternoon as night fell temperatures cold down significansignificantly. we have clear skies, folks still on the boards at this late hour. the temperature is 70 degrees and still falling. our storm scan3 is showing a few clouds moving across the region with a weak disturbance but we're clearing on the back side through the lee his valley and in allentown and reading we are going to be challenging some low temperatures. the record in allentown 49. in reading 51. temperaturesery close to that overnight tonight and those spots. philadelphia 70 degrees right now. going down into the 50s. wilmington we're at 65. 50 in the poconos.

down the shore, we are in the 60s. that ocean water temperature warmer at 74 degrees. fair weather high pressure will warm us up very quickly during the day tomorrow. it sinks to the south with that clockwise throw. more of a southwesterly wind that is our warmest wind so it will be warmer, more seasonable in the mid 80s. and just a tiny bit more humid but the are a was so dry today you really won't notice the change. then all eyes on this area of low pressure and frontal boundary it's north of the great lakes. does not have lot of months cher with it. not a lot of lift with it as well. so when it moves tore the region sunday morning, i think a few showers may be even a few scattered showers and then it is going to sing to the south. the best chance of rain i think in philadelphia will be in the morning that's the way the looks runout. future weather showing the early morning hours of sunday the clouds roll in. here's some showers moving through early. and then that system continues to sing toward the south. we'll continue to watch this because we know that sunday is an important day of course carol and justin will be here over the

>> all right. a if you weeing a no one really new about the taney dragons. fast forward a few weeks, and philadelphia representative at the little league world series is one of the feel good stories of the summer. taney opened the tournament this afternoon against the team from nashville tennessee. here we go. taney didn't waste any time. top of the first dragons going deep jared spraying will the hit a bomb to left field. thee run shot and tan know jumped out to the early lead but the story was mo davis. she put on show. this was her first of eight strike outs. nasty little changeup there. then she -- because she has an arsenal of pitches she went with the four seam fast ball there. davis went the did he say tans complete game shut out six innings, eight streak outs, just two hits. like comb hamels line from the 2008 series. taken 93 wouldn't it four to nothing. taney is off to flying star. but the other bass ball team in town is not doing so well.
