>> good morning, to you, liz. >> and the weather is? >> the weather is not all that bad. in fact, it is beautiful in some locations this morning. and then in other locations you're looking at some rain showers, so depending where you are, whole different weather picture. looking at couple of pictures, ben franklin bridge, notice we see the bridge, looks very similar to this every single day. what changes, what's above. you can see, weaver couple every cloud, but still bright enough start to the day. you go to the shore, and it is a totally bright day. beautiful looking start in atlantic silt think morning. so the sun is out there. whether few clouds are laying around in front of it, that's another matter. and storm scan3, showing, that to the north we do have the clouds out there, and more than that we've got some showers, and they're moving in to the allentown and reading areas at this point. notice, where they're not. and they're not through philadelphia or delaware or south jersey. we zoom, in we find we've some showers as they move towards at l end town area, and to the north of that, but lehigh

valley picking up something the poconos also got some of the showers, as women, certainly within the realm of possibility we'll finds couple of those hanging together and getting into our area. fifty-eight in the poconos. sixty-seven philadelphia. sixty-six in atlantic city. the winds is light in every location. temperatures in the 60s this morning versus yesterday, when we had them in the four's, 50's, and 60's. today, slightly warmer than yesterday, too, at 85 degrees. and i just want to get this time line going little bit. notice few showers could be scattered around, as we move into the afternoon hours, but this is not a wash out day, as you can tell by that. they are scattered around, sunshine, clouds, not bad for our sunday. how long can we keep a fairly decent weather pattern going? we'll check it out with the eyewitness weather seven day forecast coming up. liz? >> thank you, carol. well, new this morning, police are investigate a suspicious fire in riverside, new jersey. the vacant auto body shop caught fire around 2:30 this morning. now, authorities say, morton's

auto body shop, 400 block of pavilion avenue, has been vick on the about ten years. eyewitnesses told police they saw someone running from the burning building. exact cause of this fire is under investigation. and developing right now, in ferguson, missouri, dozens defy the mandated curfew imposed by governor jay nixon. requiring all to get off the streets by midnight. now, police used smoke and tear gas to disperse the crowds, protesting the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager. "eyewitness news" reporter sometime a chowdhry, is live in the cbs-3 sat center with the very latest information. good morning, syma. >> good morning, liz. off initials missouri say the curfew did not go as well as they had hoped for. protesters refuse to leave the streets between midnight and 5:00 a.m. by the time the curfew was lifted, one man was critically injured, and seven people were arrested.

>> protesters have to leave the streets between the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. but, many didn't heed the warning from police. overnight, seven people were arrested. this after police used smoke bombs and tear gas to control the crowds, who refused to disperse. police officials say a 1.1 protester came out with a gun. >> deployed smoke, several smoke canisters, to mover the crowd backward. >> shortly thereafter, a shooting occurred, and police tried to respond. >> as they move forward, then we got report after shooting victim near the quick trip, and red's barbeque. as they approached red's barbeque, they did deploy tear gas, at red's barbeque at that point. >> authorities say the violence quickly turned to them, as a shooter targeted a police car. >> also, a police karat that

location was shot at, we can't confirm it was struck just yet, but the police car was shot at. >> all of the unrest in ferguson started last weekends, when a police officer shot and killed michael brown, an unarmed 18 year old. since then, the local authorities received assistance from state police to help control the protests. but the first night of the curfew led to seven arrests and one person injured. >> i was disappointed, in the actions of tonight, as many of you know the crowds the last two nights. and the shooting victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. but the shoot is her still on the loose. as for the seven people arrested, they will all be charged with failure to disperse. live in the sat center, syma chowdhry, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". thank you, syma. and as protesters defy the curfew, several black community groups stepped in trying to ease the tensions. cbs news core upon spent omar

via -- villafranca with the latest from the scene. good morning, omar. >> reporter: good morning, elizabeth. the curfew has been lifted, has been lifted for about an hour now, start to go seymour cars driving around on the street, but still very early here, sunday, so of course folks will be getting ready to go to church right now. still very dedicated group of protesters, peaceful protesters here in front of the ferguson police department, they also defied the curfew and were here, but officers allowed them to be here. soap right now, it is casino of calm after very long and violent night here in ferguson. >> omar, if i understand this situation correctly, did i hear you say earlier that some these protesters, they're not all from that area? >> reporter: no, there were some people who were not from the ferguson area. there were some from the surrounding communities who have family here, who work in ferguson, who may drive-thru the area or shop here, but a lot of protesters came in who were not from the area.

a lot of the local and community leaders were telling them, listen, you're influencing some of the young people who are here, and you don't live here. you don't have a steak of what happens in this community. and a lot of those folks, community leaders, were real upset at some of the people who were coming in, and influencing. because mind you, you had church leader, you had elected officials, local community leaders, you even had the new blank panther party telling people leave before midnight and respect curfew that's been put in place. captain ron johnson, who is leagued the missouri state troopers here, controlling the crowd, he grew up in the ferguson area. and so, when he is out here talking to folks, they listen to him. they know that he knows this area very well. so it is heart wren coming for him to have to deal with a situation where he grew up, see the violence, see the destruction, and, also, have to do his job. and the community leaders under stands that, but there is that small pocket group that is determined to have a confrontation with police officers. elizabeth? >> thank you, for that update, once again, omar villa franco

live from ferguson missouri. well, back in our area, a car crashes into a firetruck and a new jersey transit bus and in camden, new jersey this happened, the driver of the car taken to cooper university hospital, no word on their condition. we are told, though, nine passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries. >> investigation underway for a discovery in the delaware river. fisherman found human remains around support mifflin road in in south philadelphia. the marine unit has removed those remains, and the medical examiner is now working to identify the victim. and, happening today, philadelphia skyline is changing. the iconic pnb bank letters are coming off of the one

south broad building near city hall later this morning, a helicopter will be used to remove the 16-foot high letters, from the skyscraper, now, pnb bank stands for the former philadelphia national bank, which brought the building in the 1950's and put its name in its light on top for all to see. now, roads surrounding the building are closed right now and will be until about noon. so if you are traveling in the area, give yourself some extra time. this here live look at the building, take a good look, later today, those letters right there, they'll be gone. also happening today, the delaware valley gets to cheer on the philadelphia's taney dragons, and the little league world series. now, there will be a pep rally and a watch party at philadelphia city hall tonight at 6:00. now, the team is resting up for today's big game after beating nashville four to nothing, in williamsport, on

earlier this month, us central command says the air strikes were launched under the authority to support humanitarian efforts, as well as to protect american personnel and facilities. meantime, sunni extremists have targeted one of iraq's tiniest minority groups. reportedly massacred some 80 men, of the yosemite, and abducted their wives and children. >> well, authorities in new york say a couple arrested in the kidnapping of two amish sister may have also planned to abduct other children. steven howell, jr., nicole, charged with two counts of first degree kidnapping. authorities say they abducted the 12 and seven year olds girls from their road stand, and their motive to victimize the girls. >> the girls were strong, they were able to verbalize to the investigators some different facts about their time in captivity, and with those

details it was instrumental in us being able to make the arrest. >> the girls showed up unharmed, fortunately, at a home about 15 miles from where they were taken, both suspects, being held without bail. more charges could follow. in new york, racing gets underway again at the motorsports park where driver kevin ward, jr., died one week ago. saturday was the first race at the dirt track since ward was struck and killed by a car driven by nascar's tony stewart. now, last night, drivers and fans held orange glow sticks, in tribute of ward. authorities are investigating last week's incident, but they've said that they have no evidence of criminal intent by steward. well, the california woman who stowed away on flight earlier this month is already out of jail. now, 62 year old maryland gene hart man was released

yesterday, three days after a judge sentenced her to 177 days behind bars. the los angeles county sheriff's offers sites prison over-crowding, as the reason. now, hartman was arrested for wandering around lax days after stow-away on a southwest airline flight. >> and a wild scene in san diego friday night, as officers chased a stolen police cruiser. officials say a 22 year old woman stole the parked patrol car. officers deployed bike strips, but they failed to stop her. she intentionally rammed three police vehicles, and that ultimately disable her vehicle, and she was taken into custody. >> no one was hurt, fortunately, the suspect now facing multiple felony charges, and including grand theft auto.

and, elderly man crashes his car into his backyard swim swimming pool. this in southern california. take a look at this. the driver told police his flip flop got caught inbetween the pedals, causing him to crash through the garage door, and landing in the swimming pool. now, he made it out of the pool by himself before rescue crews arrived, and he was not injured. the time right now 7:17. good morning to you, carol. >> well, good morning to you, liz. you know, billy penn has birds' -- bird ace eye view, pnb bank comes down with helicopter. we've got few clouds out, there as well. so a lot going on in philadelphia, today. and if you move to the shore areas, you've got great looking day there. the sun is out, the skies are a lot brighter in the shore areas, than they are now through the philadelphia area. and that's because some precipitation that has been to the north, and some clouds associated with that, starting to make a little trek in our

direction, and you can see, pretty cloud covered up through the reading area right now, but comfortable temperatures at 66 degrees, so this summer seems like every day there is at least silver lining in anything that we get. snow has not been a bad summer, we were owed decent weather pattern after that awful winter. 67 degrees, in philadelphia, right now. we have 61, in wilmington, 63 trenton, 58 in the poconos, and it is a much milder morning, this morning, than it was yesterday morning. even so, we still have a 59 degrees temperature on the map. and that is out in pottstown, you have got 60 in willow grove. sixty-two in doylestown, 62 degrees in mt. holly. county seat of the lovely burlington county. storm scan3, notice, these showers i was talking about, so depending where you are, you have one weather condition or another to deal with. to the south you have lots of clear skies, starting to see some of these clouds roll into the philadelphia area, you go to the north, and this is an area of some showers, this will be moving to the south, there is not a lot of moisture

with it, right now, there are couple of spots that you are picking up slightly heavier showers, but still generally what you are seeing is light. and this rolls on through. we are probably going to pick up a shower or two, and it will probably be brief, based on some of the computer guidance, but still, that may be in the forecast for today. but most of the day you'll be dry. temperatures will be in the 80s today, the middle 80s, several degrees warmer than they were yesterday. front that's responsible for these showers, very slowly moving on through, it will finally sag south of the area tomorrow. then low pressure comes along that, than could trigger another shower by the time we get to tuesday. so, here we go, with our computer model that says a couple of these showers make it through philadelphia, by 1:00 things not looking bad. but clouds out there. some clouds, some sun, and some showers. we've got the kitchen sink formula going on here, that's at 3:00 in the afternoon, by 5:00 o'clock most anything that you're seeing should be moving out of here.

between 11th street and city hall for sign removing along with 13th, 15th, and broad street, all between chestnut and arch streets. closures there, as well. now, bus routes stop right in the area of city hall will be detoured due to these street closures, as well. we will move the traffic cam, and this time the schuylkill spring garden street. no delays on the schuylkill expressway, moving along very smoothly this morning. if you look to the left, martin luther king drive. that's shutdown between the ben franklin parkway, falls bridge, recreational activities. see the walkers, bikers, and joggers. and moving the traffic cam one more time to the ben franklin bridge mid-span. headed to the jersey shore toed, no delays on the ben franklin or the walt whitman, 42 freeway looks good. so does 55, no problems on the atlantic city expressway or garden state parkway. light volume, usual volume for this time on sunday morning, so good ride to the shore. heading to the poconos, the northeast extension and the pa turnpike look okay, as well. that is the latest from the cbs-3 traffic center. i'm ann evans, liz, back to

august 17th. good morning, everyone, i'm elizabeth hur. and it is 7:33 here in center city philadelphia. and here is meteorologist, carol erickson in the eyewitness weather center. good morning. yesterday was picture perfect. today will be? >> will be, oh, close to picture perfect. >> good. >> not maybe as beautiful as it was on friday, that would have been almost impossible to duplicate that in august, but saturday was lovely, today we will find more in the way of clouds and we start to bring in at least a chance after shower. looks great in atlantic city. because you're far away from the showers, but the showers are out there. you can see that the roads are wet up in reading. not a lot of precipitation. but there have been few showers out there. so, 66 degrees, in a couple of showers, some clouds, that is how you start the day to the north. you can see, on storm scan3, that we do have those showers out there. and they are moving in to the reading area, but they're fairly light. you have seen them around allentown, as well, starting to press little bit into the

in the bridge scandal. the state's attorney general's office released recent bills, publish 350 page report in march, and that found christie was not involved in the lane closures of the george washington bridge. texas governor rick perry calls this indictment on abuse of power charges outrageous, and politically motivated. now, perry addressed felony charges during press conference saturday afternoon. one day after a grand jury indicted the governor. now, he is accused of trying to pressure the district attorney, of travis county to step down by threatening to cut off state financing, to her office. it is outrageous that some would use partisan political theatrics, to rip away at the very fabric of our state's constitution. this indictment amounts to nothing more than abuse of

you've enjoyed a brighter start to the day for everybody else for longer period of time, you, too, will be getting into some of these clouds. here they are. with some showers, associated, you can see all in advance of very slowly moving cool front. but it has brought few showers to the poconos, now through allentown, we've seen couple of through reading. the light green indicating that there isn't lot of moisture there is but there is enough that it might dampen the start to the day. and, you can see, the direction that they're generally going. to the east, but also just sagging a little bit to the south. that's why, through philadelphia, we can't completely rule out seek couple of the showers today. we've seen another little batch move just develop over the delaware bay, now start to move into cape may county. one or of two those might be briefly heavy. just watch for that today. but don't cancel your plans, as a result of that. because it shouldn't and lot. and it shouldn't long lasting, and it will be scattered around. 67 degrees in philadelphia, right now, 63 trenton. 61 degrees in wilmington, in the 50's, 58 degrees, in the poconos. and already, 72 degrees, down in wildwood.

so, a warmer start. cool front, comes sagging slowly through the area, our temperatures, though, are going to be warm today at about 85 degrees. tomorrow, this front is south of us, low pressure rides along, and some of the models say we can see some rain showers on tuesday, one of the other says no. this computer model just pushed little batch of rain through, and says by 10:00 o'clock we might still be finding some of those showers that we are finding right now, through the lehigh valley, scattered around through south jersey, but look at the 1:00 o'clock forecast. some clouds, mostly dry, with few areas of light, light showers, and few other areas of those, widely scattered, as we move into the afternoon hours. then by 6:00 most off the coast. nice looking night, great looking monday, and then tuesday, do we pick up couple of showers. it is possible according to some of these computer models. so we continue to monitor. that will several days out f you are headed to the shore today, look at these ocean temperatures, they're in the 70s. so, very comfortable ocean
