justice. the call for calm. we're in ferguson, missouri as the national guard rolls in hope to go to keep the piece. >> good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm diana rocco in for jessica dean. >> right now there are protesters in the streets in ferguson and there were arrests this evening. this is a live picture from ferguson. you can see the protesters in a big law enforcement presence there. officials were hoping that tonight was the night they would curb the violence for good. tensions appear to still be running high. cbs news correspondent omar villa franco is in ferguson with new developments. >> reporter: good evening. there is no curfew night in ferguson my sr. rebut police and national guard troops are staged behind me ready in case things turn violent. rapper nellie st. louis native hit the streets in ferguson monday night to encourage protester that is remain peaceful. >> in order to change the result we got to change the strategy. >> reporter: the state also changed its strategy deploying the national guard to help the highway patrol keep or.

the curfew was lived after another night of violence. >> you need to move on ladies and gentlemen. >> protesters are not allowed to congregate and linger on the streets. they have to keep moving. >> any time you decide to stop you will be given one warning. after that warning you will be arrested. >> we will ensure the safety of the citizens of ferguson. >> reporter: there's now dedicated zone here for nightly pro tests and arenoid call for calm from the white house. >> let's seek to heal rather than to wound each other. >> reporter: president obama sending attorney general eric holder to ferguson on wednesday. 18 year old michael brown was shot sick times. forensic experts say a wound on the teen's arm is consistent with witness accounts he was surrendering when officer darrin wilson shot him. ferguson city council records coincide with this photo of officer d. wilson receiving a

"eyewitness news" reporter elizabeth hur is working this story at central detectives. liz, you talked with the ranger tonight. how is he doing? >> reporter: this is true, chris. we do have some good news in that department. he says he is out of the hospital recovering at home and is looking forward to returning to work. in the meantime police here tell us their work here is continuing

but they say the two teens they arrested earlier well they have now been officially charged. >> we're not here to start any trouble. we're here to have fun and express ourselves in creative manner. >> reporter: aj cohen not only called skateboarding his passion but turns out his day job is with the city's parks and recreation department. >> it's unconscionable to me much it's unconscionable. >> he does not know the ranger seen in this video but says he is angered to see one of his own tackled, kicked and at one point the suspect even spitting on the ranger. >> this is somebody i'd be working with. these guys keep these places clean and safe. >> reporter: monday police arrested 19 your old curtis tanner along with a 17 year old. the pair from pottstown according to sources ventured into the city and started out at canes park where skateboarding is allowed. sources say friday afternoon the two ended up at love park and when the ranger asked the group of skaters to leave, that's when the situation escalated.

>> what led me to start recording was the fact that the, you know, the kid who did the attack was getting really loud. >> reporter: no one argues the video is difficult to watch but the message from cohen and fellow skateboarders this was an isolated incident. >> there's always one or two bad apples. i don't understand what this kids problem is and i hope he gets the help he needs it's quite obvious that he does. >> reporter: as for the investigation police say they still want to hear from anyone with information about the third individual seen in that video actually recording the incident. but again police say they have charged the two suspects they have in custody here tanner and 17 year old accomplice charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and making terroristic threats. that is the very latest from here live outside central detectives elizabeth hur cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right. thank you liz. nine year old is recovering

from serious injuries tonight. he was hit by a driver in a bizarre accident. that driver took off with the boy in tow shocking eyewitnesses on the street. hit by driver while crossing the street on his bike. witnesses say the nine year old little boy they called julio was struck by a man driving this pick up and talking on his cell phone just after 5:30 monday on elkhart street. >> didn't see him breathing at first. i looked and i seen this stomach movie. the dude pick him up. didn't say nothing. shoved him in the car and took off. i was shock but i was like thinking maybe he's just like he wants to get him help right aw away. >> eyewitnesses saw a man stop the truck and kneel over the boy bleeding on the ground. >> the metal bar of the truck smacked the boy in the face and ripped his whole head open. >> that's when the driver put the boy in the back seat of his pick up and drove away. police say he stopped when he saw police car and explained what happened. police then transported the nine your old to saint christopher's hospital. where family friend spoke to

julio mosses mom a short time later. >> there were hearing that is his head and he was getting those stitched up. >> julio was in stable conditi condition. and they expect a full recovery. >> and that is the good news. the driver did return to the hospital to answer police questions police say it is possible charges may still be filed. >> well now individual 83 tape of a criminal had got creative as he robbed a jewelry store. philadelphia police say that this man sized up gold finger's jewelers on east venango street and walk away. later though he returned with u mall truck. and he crashed that truck through the wall of the store. once he got and side you can see him kick through glass cases where he grabbed a lot of expensive merchandise. if you recognize that man, you're asked to call philadelphia police. >> new at 11:00 philadelphia police investigate whether an attack on couple on kelly drive last night is connected to at least one other attack. the couple walking near brewery hill drive around 9:00 o'clock when a group of men attacked them and ran off.

harley davidson on the philadelphia turnpike. he was just hours away from this home in mayfair after taking a trip across country. >> philadelphia police now say a 65 year old man found dead last week was beaten to death inside his own home. this is the having tim lee stanley. evidence reveals he was verbally beaten inside his house at mole and cherry streets. his body was found there on friday police found no signs of a forced and tree which leads them open to the possibility that stanley may have known his killer or allowed the killer into his home. >> everybody is just has been completely shocked. first of all somebody even died and now we know it was actually malicious attack. so that's terrifying. >> stanley was a member of a synagogue in spring garden. he's being remembered fondly there tonight. those had new him say he had a deep knowledge of jewish history and music. >> next at 11:00 o'clock, pole dancing on the boardwalk.

summer has been not that painful. >> it's been beautiful lately. i'm enjoying this. i am, too. i'll tell was today was beautiful. the weekend was beautiful and tomorrow did going to be nice as well temperatures have been below average all month averaging more than 3 degrees below normal for august so far. only one, 99-degree day. let's take lookout side. folks down the shore enjoying the weather as welch it's been a little cool on the beach with sea breeze kicking in here and there. we'll feel that again through the day tomorrow. but looking nice in the evening. definitely need that light jacket if you're out walking the boards this morning in atlantic city. ocean city or any of our spots up and down the shore communities and the delaware beaches. here's a time lapse through today the boardwalk plaza in rehoboth. the beach clears out and then the lights come on the boardwalk picks up. still very busy out there tonight. starstarting to wand down a lite bit. currently if degrees in rehoboth beach. so take a look at storm scan3 which is showing basically clear skies. we had cloud band move through southern delaware and south jerseyly eighty three this evening that has since cleared

out. but as we zoom to the south you can see still a lot of shower activity here over eastern virginia and into portions of eastern maryland. this is a larger storm that is going to continue bringing rain you can see through portions of north carolina as well. got news for us high pressure is firmly planted overhead and that's keeping this rain at least suppressed off to our south. so temperatures are dropping. we're down to 74 that's 3-degree drop in the past hour here in philadelphia. 72 in wilmington. 60s in reading, lancaster and allentown. mount pock know at 60 degrees. again there's our average high line. 85 degrees. we have not hit that line in quiet sometime. in fact the last above average day we had was august 10th when we got to 88 and that was over week ago. notice we will stay below that line through the next few days maybe getting little bit closer tomorrow. and on wednesday. humidity starts to increase as well. it's slow weather week if that's our only problem. dew points getting up into the askings not too bad. highs in the 80s tomorrow. again high pressure keeps us protected on wednesday but then

showers and storms start to sneak in by thursday. so we'll start off with your shore forecast. if you're on the sand tomorrow partly sunny with a cool breeze at 78 degrees. can't rule out a stray shower on wednesday much otherwise partly sunny with a high near 80. if you're in the pock nose, you're liking this weather. almost feels fall like with highs only in the 70s. parly sunny tuesday. isolated shower wednesday then some scattered showers on thursday. closer to home here in philadelphia lou the overnight hours we're partly cloudy and pleasant at 67. and for your tuesday, tomorrow will get up to a high of 84. parly sunny, slightly more hum humid. nice day. notice that east wind will keep it cooler down the shore the high there 78 degrees. wednesday looks good. warm and humid at 84 degrees. then thursday, that's our best chance for showers and storms. we'll keep it cloudy and cool on friday with the chance for a shower and even sun come back this weekend mr. clouds down the shore and notice how cool it is. low 80s saturday and sunday. again our normal high is 85. we don't hit that number through the seven day forecast.
