police shot and killed a man who came at them with a knife. police say the man stole several energy drinks from a market then went back inside the store and stole a pastry. witnesses say he was acting erratically before police were call. >> stay with "eyewitness news" for the latest on the unrest in ferguson and the impact here in philadelphia. get the latest overnight details on "eyewitness news" this morning starting at 4:30am. >> developing news tonight. the radical islamic terror group isis says it has beheaded an american journalist. james foley was kidnapped in 2012 as he covered the civil jar in syria. video surfaced on youtube to purportedly showing his excution. also, seen on that tape, is time magazine's steevest love had was kidnapped last year. isis says he too will be killed if the us does not leave iraq. white house says it is aware of this tape and working to verify its authenticity. >> new at 11:00 tonight one

person is dead, two others are injured in this violent car crash in montgomery county. chopper three over lower moreland. these two cars collided and one flipped near huntington pike and spur road. one of the injured suffered serious injuries but the other had non-life threatening injuries. the cause of that crash is under investigation. >> well also new tonight, police say a motorcycle crashed into a pedestrian just about an hour ago in gloucester city. "eyewitness news" there on powell street tonight. we're told that the motorcyclist was knocked unconscious and taken at the hospital. the pedestrian sudden a leg injury. there was no word on that person's condition. >> a woman is alive tonight all thanks to a quick thinking good samaritan. when he saw her car plunge into could be creek today, he jumped in after it. and when he emerged from the water he told his story to "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinn known. >> reporter: the suv was flipped over submerged in water and the driver trapped inside.

when marcel port was handed rock and a box cutter to go along with his courage. >> she had stopped breathing. we broke the window. tried to get her out. her seat belt was on. we cut the seat belt off. got her out the car. >> reporter: port had has never been taught cpr started to giving the woman mouth to mouth based as he says on what he saw on television. >> we didn't know what we was doing but we tried our best and finally we gave up. and as we started to walk away she started breathing. >> reporter: what was that moment like when you saw her starting that breathe? >> it -- i couldn't even speak about it. i mean, i just did the best i can, and i started to think i started to fail, um, and then she started breathing. >> reporter: philadelphia police believe the woman driver may have suffered some kind of medical emergency as she was driving north on cobbs creek parkway near greenway avenue. stunned eyewitnesses say what port and another good samaritan did was nothing short of heroic. >> it wasn't like she making a full turn.

it looked like the car veered off. >> the suv flipped down an embankment and landed in cobbs creek at around 33:30 tuesday afternoon. 12 districtth police officers logan and byron dawson arrived shortly after the accident. >> once we got her up she was breathing. when she was in the water she looked totally out of it. >> reporter: indications are right now that driver should pull through. she was last listed in guarded condition here at hup. reporting from university city, todd quinones cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> city inspectors are trying to figure out what caused the roof of this building in philadelphia's queen village neighborhood to collapse earli earlier. chopper three over the 900 block of south front street late this afternoon. the building houses the pete's sake pub and several apartments. a few people were inside the building when it happened. they were able to escape without injury. >> tonight we're hearing the plea for help from a police officer wounded in the line of duty.

>> philadelphia officer stephen korpalski suffered a deep graze wound to his head after he was shot by a suspect in tacony just after midnight. investigators say david ellis shot officer korpalski after the officer approached him during an investigation of gunshots in the area. other officers returned fire killing the suspect. >> no one someone got shot in the head you always fear for the worse. >> another fraction of an inch probably would have caught him right in the eye or certainly right in the head and his injuries would have been far more severe if not fatal. >> officer korpalski is a 14 year veteran of the force. he is now recovering at home with his wife and three week old baby girl. >> a cyber attack compromises the personal information of millions of patients. some of them believed to be right here in the delaware valley. hackers hit community health systems. which owns brandywine hospital, jennersville hospital, phoeni phoenixville hospital, chestnut

tech text governor rick perry surrendered to authorities and was booked on two felony counts of abuse of power. grand jury says he abused his power when he vetoed funding for public corruption prosecutors those prosecutors fall under the jurisdiction of a county da arrested for drunk driver. perry threatened to veto that funding if the da didn't resign. governor perry says the charges are political and he will fight them. >> now the dramatic rescues in arizona where flood waters formed raging rivers in the desert. a series of storms dumped more than 4.5-inches of rain on areas north of phoenix. all that rain put both people and animals in danger. some roads are still underwater tonight. >> well do you remember this scene? it was back in to 010 when volcano in iceland erupted spewing ash into the air and into the path of planes. actually bringing much of air traffic in europe to a halt. well, this might happen again. the airline industry is on alert right now because of possible

something as simple as getting up out of your chair and getting moving. to calling friend. hugging yourself. >> according to the national institutes of health nearly 15 million americans suffer from major depressive disorder and 40 million from an anxiety disorder. psychologists are now looking at these video games as a new way to reach those who need help. >> a lot of them look exactly the same as games someone could play just on -- they may have cartoon characters. they could have missions. imbeded in that game are treatment mechanisms. >> reporter: psychology professor trace dee dennis designed one of the games called personal zen. aft playing it for 20 minutes the brain starts processing negative information different differently. >> we can train an anxious person to pay less attention to threats. more attention to positive thing in the games and that transfers how they look the and pay attention in the real world. >> the national institute of health is funning study.

absolutely gorgeous. it started this weekend. item which are in the low 80s saturday, sunday with sunshine. today and yesterday fantastic as well. little warmer, little more hum humid. today we got up above average for the first time in quiet sometime. look all things things are changing. we've got some rain heading or way by the end of the week. let's at a take a look outside take you down the shore to start things off. this is atlantic city and you can see it's all lit up there on the peer looks like people still out having a good time. enjoying these last few weeks of summer before school start and everything starts to shut down a little bit before the days start to get shorter and shorter. as we head into the month of september. let's take quick look at a time lapse video from earlier today this is our boardwalk plaza shot in rehoboth beach. another very crowded day on the beach and then the sun went down and everybody now out on the boardwalk enjoying a nice night. storm scan3 shows an area of strong thunderstorms moving no portions of eastern ohio and into western pennsylvania as well. this will die out through the overnight hours a few showers and storms could make it a

little bit further to the east but it looks like most of it will miss us to the west but this is part of a larger system that will eventually impact us by week's end and it's going to sit over us for couple of days. so thursday into friday things turn out a whole lot more unsettled and stormy than we've been dealing with so far this week. 74 right now at the airport. comfortable skate already in millville and already down to 66 in atlantic city. so those folk out on the peer hope they have their sweatshirts handy this evening. but again today we got up to 87 degrees. above average but it's only the third day this month that we've been above average. we've only had 190-degree day this month and don't have any in the seven day forecast. future weather again shows a couple of showers mainly off to the north and west i don't think we'll see much of that here tonight most of them staying well to the west. by noon on thursday, we've got some showers breaking out to our west and notice how this area just expands through thursday night and into early friday morning and then friday morning looks wet just about everywhere with heavy rain in portions of

new jersey, down through delaware down the shore into friday afternoon and then we finally see things clear out later friday night. and into the weekend. as of now, to me it looks like friday is the wetter of the two days. thursday being a bit showery and stormy in the afternoon mainly off to the west. and then friday with the threat for some steadier rain on and off especially in the morning. in williamsport tomorrow 7:30 taken 93 dragons taking on the team from las vegas. 74ly. keep an eye to the sky during the game for a shower or storm. overnight in the city partly clue dee and just a bit muggy at 67. for your wednesday tomorrow it's partly sunny, it is a bit more humid but nice summer day at 85. that is seasonable. and your "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast and shore cast, 85 tomorrow and thursday. watch for that shower or thunderstorm especially to the west on thursday but then friday, we've got showers possible and any time especially in the morning even some steadier rain could come down on friday and then over the weekend we clear it out and get more sunshine notice how cool it stays. 80 degrees both saturday and
