noel mcclaren is live to tell us what investigators are now announcing about this crime, noel. >> reporter: police tell us that they are still searching for clues as to who may have ton this. they do believe that it is drug or possibly gang-related but still, no arrests. it is one of the most barbaric murders philadelphia homicide detectives say that they have ever seen. >> hand and feet were bound, their eyes were covered and they were stabbed multiple times, two of the three i believe their throats were slit and then flown in the schuylkill river. >> reporter: three friend abducted from an undisclosed location in the van were believed to be tortured, taped up, stabbed, and anchor to the bottom of the schuylkill river left to die. two victims were recovered this morning near kelly drive, their throats, slashed but one man managed to get away, police say that the 23 year-old survivor, flagged down help on the side of the road and they got to him, just in the nick of time. >> he was walking, in his

dollars in cash at gunpoint. this happened just after 2:00 this morning at cowa trading corporation on the 1700 block of north delaware avenue. those suspects were wearing hats that said police, one might have had some sort of badge around his neck. investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video hoping to get a better look at the gun man. streets of philadelphia, filled with cheering fans today as the the city threw a parade for taney dragons to celebrate their amazing run in the little league world series. we have team three coverage today, beasley reese and jan carabao are live in fdr park where the parade wrapped up an hour an and beasley and jan, this was quite a party. >> reporter: jessica, beasley and i could not be happier to cover the feel good story of the summer. we were with the kid all day long. beasley was here at the park for the big rally. i was all along the parade route from south philadelphia to center city where the parade started at 20th and market streets. >> you could feel the love in

talks frankly about pat opening up but her fans both young and old and how her friend will treat her when she returns to school. that is coming up later in the show. well, it was a nice sun i day for a parade and certainly as they said a little warm, approaching 90 in some parts of the area today. meteorologist kathy orr is live on the sky deck with a first look at the forecast, kathy. >> most of us are dressed for it, jessica, no cleats, no socks no uniform like taney dragons had to deal with but it was a terrific day in center city philadelphia and throughout the delaware valley. we have plenty of blue skies but you can feel the humidity, and the perspiration in the back of your neck when you walk outside. take a look the at the temperatures. we are looking at temperatures well in the 80's, some spots made it to 90 but we are not finished heating up just yet. we are in the crust seven of 90 at 89 degrees. wilmington 86. eighty-eight in allentown. the in the poconos it is 82 degrees. in wildwood it is 84. we are looking at some clouds and a few sprinkles, through

talk about a close call two utility poles snap one narrowly misses a mother and her baby inside a car in massachusetts. luckily they were not hurt when the poles snapped the transformer came down witt shutting down power to that area for hours. power has since been restored. take a look at this

disturbing video from australia, investigators say it shows a bus driver taking drugs while behind the wheel. he passes out, seconds late their bus crashes into two homes. the 57 year-old shawn murphy pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and dui charges. thankfully, nobody was hurt. also in australia a dramatic creek rescue, rescuers pulled a family of three from the roof of their suv after they got stuck in rising water. their son swam through rushing what the tore call for help and they were all treated for minor hypotheria. good evening, everyone. still want to watch out for usual delays, during this rush hour. take a look at i-95, traveling i the five out of delaware county we have high volume here approaching 476 and commodore barry bridge area will be busy. heading on i-95, to and from center city, you will fine volume between the vine street expressway and cottman on that northbound side and court

bound approaching cottman down through the the vine street expressway. you may have a touch of traffic around broad street area for tonight's festivities. looking at 42 freeway in new jersey, very nice ride, traveling either southbound or northbound on the 42, no major problems, the atlantic city expressway moving well, but if you are traveling on 295, we definitely have southbound delays. excuse me. step out of the way slightly so you can see there high volume southbound approaching 73 all the way down to the 42 freeway. traveling on i-95 you're dropping down to 24. twenty-five on the the schuylkill expressway. sixteen on 476, and north bound delay between 95 and media, southbound we have a slow down around mid county and making your way down toward route one. here is why we're seeing that backup on 29 a southbound approaching the black horse pike. we have an accident and it is compromising one of the lanes there, taking out that right-hand lane, a big hung of readies building right around the area have of route 70. if you are traveling in this area, definitely try to avoid it if you can. also in new jersey traveling

kathy orr is back inside. it is nice and toasty. >> and very humid. you can feel the difference. by tomorrow it will be as if we just hit the switch. >> yeah, it will be dream i, low humidity and more comfortable temperatures but the heat will return in the forecast before summer comes to an even. lets take a look outside where we have a beautiful day down the shore, feeling a sea breeze. we are looking live in atlantic city which skies cam three. water very comfortable as well in the 70's this afternoon.

storm scan three shows clear skies, a few clouds well to the north and west and could feel a sprinkle in the poconos associated with a leading edge of dryer and somewhat more moderate air that is moving in. that is a cold front. we will be seeing just partly cloudy sky tonight and temperatures cooling down but for now they are still heating up. philadelphia 89. very close to 90. official numbers coming in the the next half an hour. allentown 88. trenton 88. millville 84. look at ocean water temperature 77 degrees. very comfortable. down the shore you can see the sea breeze. ocean city 10 degrees cooler then philadelphia right now. cape may 80. seventy-nine in stone harbor. rehoboth beach delaware sitting at 77. here is dew point temperatures a true amount have of moisture in the atmosphere and when you are in the mid 60's it is on the steamy side. so dew point temperature today is 64. it will be 55 tomorrow, and that is in a very pleasant range. so we will definitely be feeling a difference with lower temperatures and less humidity for your thursday. fair weather high pressure

will move from the northwest giving us more northerly wind component. it will be breezy dry and very pleasant. more like it was earlier in the month. friday the same thing as temperatures are right around 80 degrees. by saturday the heat picks up again. it will be warmer, and risk more humid. we will keep an eye on the front because that could bring showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon on sunday. we are tracking cristobal and you can see this hurricane right now, minimal with a 75 miles an hour win. it is still moving north/northeast at 15 miles an hour. it will take that turnaround bermuda, still about four hundred miles away from cape may, by tonight, so it will not come close but all this wave action over the past several days, is increasing the risk for rip current. rip current risk through tomorrow will be high with wave heights between three and 5 feet. so please never swim at a beach that is not guarded. those guards will get off-duty on most beaches within the next ten minutes w this rip current risk we are watching

the wave motion continuing and more water is being brought on shore. that can actually be pulled back out to sea. that is why these rip currents or narrow channels form in the water. this is how you can look at the beach to see if you have a dangerous rip current. look for a channel of choppy water, different colors, more of that brownish color and break in the wave pattern. this is most obvious thaw will see down the shore. so be careful because risk will be high again tomorrow afternoon. the tonight a few clouds, but mild, low of 68, humidity lowers, much more comfortable thursday high of 84 with the northerly wind at 10 miles an hour. going to the phillies game tonight it will feel like summer. the dog days. temperatures will be in the 80's. a few clouds. southeasterly wind and first pitch at 7:05. on the exclusive three day forecast thursday 84. more comfortable friday at 82. saturday heat begins to build with a high of 86. shore temperatures staying in the upper 70's to lower 80's and that uv index will be

a big celebration for little leaguers as philadelphia threw a parade for taney dragons today. fans you can see right there lining the streets to cheer on the mid-atlantic champs and tonight they will take center stage at the fill us game. this is a day these young athletes will never forget. now that school business to start dragons will soon think back on the summer of 14. mo'ne davis and her catcher scott van dora talk to our pat ciarrocchi exclusively about this experience of a life time. >> reporter: she's fears fees on the mound and he is in control behind home plate. >> i have been catching mo'ne for six years now and i necessity exactly what she's doing. >> reporter: thrill of victory

i'm jessica dean with the day's top stories. police say a man shot and killed his wife and then wounded himself, this happened at kennedy university hospital, in stratford, camden county. police went to the couple's home they found another

her at the range when this all happen. >> we have to keep that held in, otherwise, gun won't fire, okay. >> reporter: in this video released by the mo have county sheriff's office the girl is shown moments before the incident standing next to the instructor as he shows her how to use the weapon. >> go ahead and give me one shot, all right. >> the sheriff's office says their investigation determined that the girl pulled the trigger on the automatic ooozie it sent the gun over her head and victim was shot. charles vodka, father and war veteran was air lifted to a las vegas medical center but didn't survive his injuries. the bullets and burger's gun range have been operating for 12 years, operators sam scarmotto says they have never had an incident like this before. >> we don't know what happened. our guys are trained to basically hoover over people when they are shooting and if they are shooting right-handed we have a right hand behind him ready to push it out of

the way and left-handed the same thing. >> reporter: investigators say in laws were broken. in air zone eighties up to the gun range to permit minors to fire a gun. bullets and burger says it has already changed regulations since the the incident, shooters will be required to be 5 feet tall or 12 years of age. >> vanita nair for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". air zone gun laws require a person to be at least 18 years old to carry a firearm, however those laws do not apply on private property or if the minor is accompanied by a parent or certified instructor. parents of the local student missing in israel are anxiously awaiting news about their son. twenty-three year-old aaron sofer disappeared friday near jerusalem. he became separated from a friend during a hike in the forest. that areas being searched but there are fears that the lakewood, new jersey man may have been abducted. an american journalist freed after being held captive in syria says he is thankful and overwhelmed at the the effort to secure his freedom.

peter theo curtis spoke out publicly for the first time today outside his mother's home in cambridge, massachusetts. brian web reports. >> reporter: peter theo curtis is back on american soil, and says he has been touched beyond words by the warm welcome and by the effort it took to free him from captivity. >> in the days following my release on sunday i have learned, bit by bit that there have been literally hundreds of people, brave, determined and big hearted people all over the world working for my release. >> reporter: 459 year-old journalist arrived in newark, airport in new jersey on a flight from tel aviv. he connect to logan international airport in boston where he reunited with his mother and learned of the extensive negotiations, for his release. >> i'm just overwhelmed with emotion. i'm also overwhelmed by one of the things that total strangers have been coming up to me and saying hey, we're glad you are home, welcome home, glare back and safe.

recovering after being crushed by bricks during sunday's earthquake in napa, california. thirteen year-old nicholas dylan was having a sleep over with friends in the living room when the shaking began. his pelvis was fractured in several places which part of the fireplace collapsed on top of him. >> i don't know how many landed on me but i just remember crawling. i thought i was parallel pennsylvaniaized. i thought i was paralyzed for 30 seconds i could in the feel my leg or my back. >> nicholas spent ten hours in surgery to put his pelvis back together again. he will be in a wheelchair for six months but he will recover and soon be back on the soccer feel. local police departments are increasing their efforts to keep drunk drivers off the the streets over this labor day weekend. hundreds of police departments, across pennsylvania are participating in the drive sober or get pulled over campaign. they will monitor drivers using patrols or dui checkpoints. there were 11,000 alcohol related crashes in pennsylvania last year, those
