it is labor day 2014, monday, september 1st, good morning, i'm ukee washington. >> i'm erika von tiehl. stories we're following today. it is closing time for two atlantic city casinos. revel guesses check out today and all bets are off at the showboat. we'll tell you how the closings are affecting atlantic city casino industry and the people who work there. >> while some are at the beach or holding cook out, many americans pause to honor american workers on this labor day. after the music stops, the clean upstarts at the made in america festival for a part of the night, mother nature stole the show. those thunderstorms. >> yes, indeed. i heard a couple cracks. >> as did i but went right back to sleep.

>> let's finds out what's on your monday, labor day? >> good morning, guys. quick look at storm scan3, this will actually show you the store a little better than just seeing my face would. you can see, obviously been some showers, some storms rolling on through here through the last couple of hours, they continue to make their retreat. it doesn't mean we are in the clear. in fact, actually seeing two additional days here of the potential for more showers, storms, while round has moved out, a left over in a couple of spots. again, it will be a running theme, as will the heat, as will the humidity. so we have to talk temperatures and the steam factor. i like call it the friz factor. that will be very noticeable for you out there today. full details for you specially if you got maybe any cook out plans out there for the next couple of days. guys, back over to you for now. >> thanks, katie. lights out at two atlantic city casinos.

>> the board walk feature becomes the first of three casinos shutting down over the next two weeks. jan carabeo joins us outside of the revel casino in atlantic city where business there is also winding down. jan, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ukee, erika. it is the unofficial ends of summer today. definitely more bitter than sweet here in atlantic city. you mention that the showboat closed yesterday. today it is revel's turn start winding down business. today the hotel will close right around 11:00 this morning. and tomorrow it is the casino that will close at 5:00 a.m. now, when all ask said and done, throughout the summer, if all goes as planned, four casinos will close here in atlantic city, eliminating about 8,000 jobs. casino experts have said this is painful, but necessary, to right size and stabilize this market. now, revel opened just little more than two years ago a mid high hopes of saving atlantic city crumbling gambling market. but the two and a half billion

dollars casino and hotel never turned a profit. after filing for bankruptcy, twice, a qualified buyer was never found. this alone will leave more than 3,000 employees without a job in all these closures mean nearly third of atlantic city work force will be unemployed including thousands lost their jobs just yesterday down the board walk at showboat. >> very difficult for the guests, very difficult for the employees, it is a sad time in at lan ticket city. now, casino experts expect that revel will open after it is sold at cut rate price possibly at the casino maybe as a resort or condos, but today just another sad day, and dreaded day for the city and the people who call ac home. live in atlantic city, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> we saw that jane had her raincoat on in just in case. >> i do think we are vocally still dodging at least the spray from the other vehicles for sure. but also, there are couple of

sunlight consideration trying the showers and storms, here is a look outside the live neighborhood network, see the one car drives on through, little dampness to the pavement, and certainly we're going to feel that it feels very sticky outside. talking dew points in the 70s, that's a bad hair day. toyed get the aqua net ready the second i walked in the door, i am telling you, you want some climate control on day like this. seventy-two for the dew point temperature, 56 it starts to feel muggy, so it is steamy outside. actual air temperatures real controls to the dew points, and the closer those two numbers are, looking at more and more at saturated air mass. at 74 for temperature at 72 for dew points, that's really saturated air mass. meanwhile, basically on par with our temperatures as they are down in little rock, in birmingham, atlanta, charleston, the list goes on. so it gives you a sense of where the air mass is coming from basically. throughout the day i do think you will get some sun, muggy start for us, just hot, steamy day in general at some point,

saturday morning in wayne county. ryan learner, seamus dig any, and cullen keffer died in the crash. the cause of the crash has yet to be determined. , last night 3,000 block of lewis street, police say 60 year old man driving north on delaware avenue when he tried to make a left turn instead he hit an utility pole. >> verb ers are trying to pinpoint what sparked a motel fire in atlantic county. we have some photos here taken outside the bay island inn in egg harbor township early morning. one person taken to the hospital. that will fire displaced nine people including a child. the red cross is helping with food, clothing and temporary lodging. today the country will pause to honor the american worker. philadelphia hoses the 27th annual tri-state labor day parade. it sponsored by the philadelphia council of the afl-cio. the parade starts at the sheet metal workers union hall on

columbus boulevard at 10:00 this morning, it will then head to the great plaza at penn's landing. concert goers at made in america didn't let the weather rain on their parade earlier this morning, crews out cleaning up after the two-day music festival. last night event organizers ordered people to seek health her a strong line of thunderstorms rolled through the area after a one hour rain delay, the gates were reopened, and the show went on and many, many music fans weren't letting some rain and thunder damn ben their spirits. >> i don't think it is that bad, but kind after bummer that we have to go. >> pay a lot of money, rain or shine, it is all right. >> the weather interruption pushed performances back by an hour, but many fans returned to the parkway and braved the rain to watch headliner ferrell to take the stage. made in america is now by coastal. thousands rock in downtown los angeles for the weekends long concert series, the first year for the festival's expansion, first launched by music mogel

us military said it had two air strikes, one a air tack near mozul, destroyed armed vehicle, iraqi forces say they've liberated the town of omerly, roughly 15,000 people have been trapped by isringhausen militants since june. us humanitarian aid and area strikes were key to breaking the six week siege.

actually i will be showing you visibilities in a second, too, see some of that steam probably affecting the visibility out there this morning, too. you may want to think about the umbrella i brought mine in case. if you are out later in the day, just in case kind of situation, we start to see the showers and storms reignited. we'll show you waist going on, storm scan3, pretty heavy batch of rain that rolled through for the last couple of hours, since moved out to sea, there is still little left over pockets, for chester county still getting hit by little renegade shower, pocket, as well as through burlington county. all that's left over at this point. the problem is, we're not done. now, it is interesting, the to casino every looks like a front, doesn't it? that's not what it is, thoughment zoom it out even further, front that will actually mark the mid week for

us way back here, what's going on? high pressure, giant ridge, centered off shore, remember in northern hemisphere rotates in a clockwise fashion. so with the core of circulation over the ocean, we're drawing our wind out of the south. that means, it is heating up, it is steaming up, and we're also going to see enough sunshine to help ignite couple of showers and storms, so i think a good run at 90, some flirt with it, some hit it, and will be scattered and storms that fire up. kind of like what we saw yesterday. we should still get you into the 90s tomorrow. cold front will cross, but still going it have enough time to get you back to the low 90s, then flirt with nine once again wednesday, even despite the passage of cold fronts. cold front, nothing cold about what happens behind it. but does turn little less humid. here's the visibilities i mentioned. going up through the north and western suburbs traveling 81, pa turnpike, going up the northeast extention, lehigh valley, below a mile. visibility in some of the spots. so it is kind of hit and miss depending where you are.

but do keep in mind you will run into some patchy areas of fog here specially come closer to the dawn hours, which doesn't happen these days until 6:29 in the morning. you may be running into maybe more widespread variety of that patchy fog. in the meantime, it is hot, it is steamy, a shower or storm will get triggered at some point later today, especially, so p.m. hours, afternoon, evening, very classic late summer forecast for us really. seventy-three our expected low, if you haven't already turned the air-conditioning off, i have a feeling you will be doing it by tonight. let's look what the rest of the week has in store. this may ends up being the hottest week we've had yet as whole. two 90-degree days plus, then the rest of it at least through friday flirting with 90. so this will be a rollie hot week. now the difference comes wednesday. remember, weaver the cold front coming through. so it looks like humidity will have a chance to drop off. but the sun will also have a chance to shine rightly from mid week on. guys, we send it back to you. >> phillies play afternoon

the revel casino closes early tomorrow, two day shutdown process. the casino opened a little more than two years ago, and is in its second bankruptcy. the showboat closed yesterday, and the trump plaza closes later this month. police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a man along the 6,000 block of almond street in kingsessing, police say the shooting took place around 10:30 last night.
