1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friend. my son and would i like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of mt. sinai hospital for at macing care they provided for my mother. cooper and i have found ourselves humled by outpouring of love, support and prayers we have received from around the the world. they have been heard, and appreciated. my mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. although that is difficult to do right now, i know her final wish would be that we return to laughing real soon. a lot of people commenting on joan rivers death, this afternoon, teresa says rip joan you made us laugh and made us look good. you'll be missed. matthew johnson wrote into say a favorite memory from the early 70's, joan was on the mike douglass or movie griffin doing a skit about the ryal family. they were on a family vacation at jersey shore and his grandfather was on the floor, he was laughing so hard, a big fan of joan, ever since. and patty writes to us that god may comfort the heart

"eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live at the sat center with details on that, todd. >> reporter: model whose twitter handle is precious little is responding tonight, to the whole mix up. this is a picture that governor staffer was supposed to tweet out but this is what was sent out, instead a picture of a model named darja wearing a leather choker and flashing a peace sign. delaware governor jack markell was at warner elementary school in wilmington thursday morning to announce a new fishtive to support the state's disadvantaged students. after the wrong twitter picture was sent out to mark the occasion, it was quickly

deleted and an apology followed on the governor's twitter account saying an inappropriate photo was inadvertently sent out earlier. markell's office then later issued a statement saying in part while the tweet would be edited the auto generate link for picture was inadvertently altered, as a result, picture linked to the tweet was a random unrelated and inappropriate picture that has been on the internet since 2010. thursday afternoon the model, who described herself as an than ground visual artist says i do not personally know anyone from the governor's staff, of course, i a will guys if anyone is offended because many age was taken out of context. the there is nothing deceptive or secretive that transpired but i feel people may be digging for a deeper story. and tonight the governor's office says lesson learned, don't tweet too quickly, and that they had wish that the accidental link had been to a cat video. reporting live tonight from the sat center, todd quinones,

cbs-3 "eyewitness news". all right todd, thank you. developing news now, fire fighters are tackling a two alarm blaze in hamilton township, new jersey. we are told one person had to be removed from a second floor window, their condition is not yet men right now. two engines and a score of fire fighters have responded to this scene. philadelphia police are working to identify a body that was found inside of a burning car last night. discovery was made behind the 6100 block of lawrence street in olney. investigators want to know if this might be connected to an earlier shooting that took place around three blocks away. an investigation is underway in the discovery of two bodies inside a northeast philadelphia home. they wore hazmat suits inside the home on the 500 block of allengrove street because it was infect with bed bugs. authorities say a relative went to the home this morning and found one man shot several times. a second man was also shot, and beaten in the back have of that home.

>> police immediately responded from the second district and found two maleness their 20's, one looks like he was bludgeon with the hammer, the the other was shot. both were deceased homicide investigating at this point. >> so far police have have have not made any arrests. developing news right now justice department is launching a broad investigation in the ferguson, missouri police department. attorney general eric holder made that official announcement today. move comes in the aftermath of the shooting death last month have of a unarmed black 18 year-old, by a white police officer. >> in meetings and listening sessions and informal conversations people consistently expressed concerns stemming from specific alleged incidents from general policing practices, and from lack of of diversity on the ferguson police force. >> now this investigation is separate from an ongoing federal civil rights investigation into the circumstances of that particular shooting, a local grand jury is also investigating.

it is being called the most exciting project in philadelphia in recent years, dilworth park is now opened to the public. "eyewitness news" reporter and anchor pat ciarrocchi is live at the park to show us around, hi pat. >> hi jessica, this is the park. it used to be an public space now it is dilworth park in progress, it is not quite completed as of yet. ultimately though there will be green here at city hall. with scissors in hand mayor michael nutter cut the ribbon on dilworth park an outdoor public space on the west face of city hall. >> awesome. we see it beautiful, people are out here, enjoying themselves in this bought beautiful weather. >> reporter: project has been years and 50 million-dollar in the making. >> since the days of penn and new dilworth park is latest chapter in its great history. >> reporter: park covers more than 120,000 square feet. on such a hot hot day children were dash go through a

5:13 now. everything is already, completely in full swing, you can see this is our camera here right in between girard and allegheny, so southbound there is a lane writ here headed toward center city. there is a disable vehicle pulled off to the left-hand side that we cannot see here causing much of the delay. heading north bound towards northeast philadelphia a combination of rush hour and construction as well. is there a 3-mile backup, into the the vine street expressway, so this is heading eastbound towards that delay on i-95 so give yourself an extra ten, 15, 20 minutes as rush hour begins to increase as well. we know everybody will continue to be stacked up. elsewhere in claymont, delaware there is an accident on naamans road at petary road so use cautioning go through this and fire police on the scene in montgomery county at valley forge road and sumanytown pike to an earlier accident. otherwise travel times, everything still starting to slow up a bit, 422 on 202, to oaks heading westbound still real slow there a 12 minute trip and take you 21 minutes on the schuylkill expressway, from 476 into the vine street

ocean. you've got 78 degrees in the ocean right now off atlantic city, 83-degree water temperature off cape may. this is very, very warm along the beach and i know anybody who decided to take their vacation right have after labor day we thought they're brilliant. storm scan three nothing going on here but notice these, they may come by tomorrow afternoon. if you see a shower tomorrow or maybe even outside chance of the thunderstorm that is where they are coming from. this is saturday's weather over here but it should be dry, pretty much until they get to saturday afternoon except for that spotty stray shower except that they could be finding tomorrow. high pressure leaving us warm tomorrow way up in the 80's, practically 90 degrees with that possible scattered shower. then on saturday much better chance of more organize showers and thunderstorms afternoon and evening as a cold front comes by and we should be glad it is coming by and look at sunday in the 70's, clearing, cooler, humidity starts to drop before we drop. lets time some of this out and

you can't fake steak. people around the world tonight remembering the life and career of joan rivers, the 81 year-old comedy ledgend died this afternoon surrounded by family and friends at a new york hospital. >> our own ukee washington caught up with her back in 2009, in philadelphia. >> how many times do you go into a neighborhood and see one of the big houses and you go who are these people? how did they get so rich.

have live in poverty wages. >> reporter: they are demanding a minimum wage increase to $15 an hour for workers of all fast food restaurants. it is part of the national grass roots movement called fight for 15, minimum wage is $7.25 many say that isn't enough. >> we need food on the table, clothes on your back, you know, it is hard. >> reporter: rasheeda austin works three jobs and makes $11,000 a year. she says it is impossible to support a family with her wages. >> take care of my daughter, food on the table, clothes on her back, make sure she has everything she needs and don't ever ask anybody for anything. >> reporter: workers started their march at mcdonald's on broad street and girard and ended at mcdonald's on broad street and arch, facing city hall. the company put out a statement saying quote, we believe that any minimum wage increase should be implemented overtime so that the impact on owners of small and medium sized businesses, like the once who own and operate math report of our restaurants is manageable. >> we deserve more.

cardiac arrest at a doctor's office following a routine procedure. rivers originally wanted to be an actress but it was comedy that proved to be her ticket to stardom. she was known for her sharp witt, energy and a tireless work ethic. melissa rivers released this statement about her mother's passing today and said it is with great sadness a announce the death of my mother, joan rivers, she passed at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friend. my son and would i like to thank doctors, nurses and staff at mt. sinai hospital for this amazing care that they provided for my mother. cooper and i have found ourselves humled by outpouring of love support and prayers we have received from around the world. they have been heard, and appreciated. my mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh, although that is difficult to do right now i know her final wish would be that we return to laughing real soon. there was an outpouring of reaction following news of rivers death toda
