well, developing news right now, new jersey governor chris christie has issued a stunning directive today, casinos and race tracks can start offering sports betting immediately. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan is live outside the headquarters for the casino reinvestment development authority in atlantic city with more, cleve. >> reporter: chris, that news about the sport betting comes just before a summit that the governor called here in atlantic city to discuss the future of city. right the now meeting inside are state and local officials who are trying to figure out how to tackle a widespread unemployment and big empty buildings. just across the street there is a small remnant left of protesters that had gathered here demanding answers to change the fortune is here in atlantic city. >> with property taxes sky rocketing and job numbers plumetting, dozens voiced their concerns outside the governor's summit on the future of atlantic city. mayor don guardian heard them

cbs-3 "eyewitness news". the first day of school also brought demonstrations about lack of school funding, "eyewitness news" outside governor tom corbett's philadelphia office in center city. members of the public citizens for children and youth want lawmakers in harrisburg to get back to work they say to solve the funding crisis. concerned parents education advocates and lawmakers also demonstrated outside ben franklin high school in spring garden this morning. they say governor corbett's cuts are the cause of school funding shortages. a pennsylvania senator endorses a new bill to ensure a nurse in every school this pilot project in a particular school district will focus honorary duesing the ratio of students to school nurses. >> senator bob casey says that right now accepted ratio is one nurse to 1500 students. the new measure calls for one nurse for every 750 students. the the nurse ratio

another royal baby is on the the way, in great britain. >> prince with the yam and kate are expecting their second child. cbs news reporter alfonso van marsh has more from london. >> reporter: prince with the yam and kada announced they are adding another royal, a year after prince george was born . royal insiders believe kate is still in her first few months. palace aids say she's suffering severe morning sickness like she did with prince george. she canceled an engagement at oxford monday so she could rest and receive medical care. >> it is tricky few days, or week or so. so, it is great news.

right now wind north is at 24. now 17 miles an hour. you can see how that live neighborhood network site at beach patrol is varying here. now north at 25, the wind is very high, the temperature only 71 degrees. so much cooler then it was last week. on storm scan three you can see showers and a few sprinkles in cape may county but heavier rain in southern parts of the sussex county delaware and also knew salisbury maryland. this is where we will see the bulk of the rain as high pressure keeps it dry for the most part as this rain is evaporating before it hits the ground any further north then cape may county. we have a flood advisory for our coastal zones from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. this means through south jersey and delaware beaches we will be seeing gusts up to 35 miles an hour, rain for the next couple of days, half inch in some locations but higher as you head toward southern delaware where the heavier rain is expect. high tides, in new jersey, between seven and nine.

minutes. developing right now, a rare but serious respiratory virus is sickening children all across the country. federal health officials say doctors should be on the look out for it. state health departments tell "eyewitness news" they are not aware of cases in our area but health officials say it could spread here. health reporter stephanie stahl has more on the illness. >> couple days ago i could not breathe at all. >> reporter: oxygen mask is necessarity for 13 year-old will cordero, doctors in colorado says he is one of the hundreds of children battling enterovirus 68 who almost didn't make it. >> white as a ghost, blue lips, he just passed out, his eyes rolled back in his head and called 911. >> it causes respiratory illnesses and among them are illnesses that are more serious, that require hospitalization. particularly if they trigger, serious asthma attack. >> reporter: symptoms mimic common cold but virus can be life threatening.

>> on set of symptoms was very wrapped, within hours. >> reporter: virus is most dangerous in children with asthma and those under the age of five. intensive care units are crowded with children of having the virus in about a dozen mostly mid western states. >> our pediatric floor is full of patients with pretty severe respiratory distress. >> reporter: despite the tubes, willis recovering. >> i feel better then i did were. >> reporter: now, symptoms of the the virus antibiotics, don't work so doctors can only treat symptoms including supplemental oxygen and medications to keep the lungs working properly. now, to stop this threat doctors say it is critically important to cover costs and wash hand with soap and water as much as possible. good news with this so far it is not fatal, no deaths reported with this out break. >> still so scary. >> yes. >> stephanie, thanks. well, widow of the slain plymouth township police officer bradley fox is filing

"eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter has more. >> i cannot stan the thought that this person who bought this gun that killed my house band was able to purchase nine guns total in about 14 weeks. >> reporter: lindsey fox tearfully recounted the painful story of how her husband officer bradley fox was killed by andrew thomas, who unable to purchase a weapon as a convict felon paid michael henry, a drug addict, to be his straw purchaser, buying weapons for him, including the one that killed officer brad fox. are you sorry for what you did? while henry serves 20 to 66 years in prison for buying the gun for the killer, the family of officer fox is now suing inside firearms for selling him the weapon. >> i'm bringing this case with the hope that something positive will come out of this tragedy. >> reporter: lawsuit alleged

numerous, red flags, that the gun dealers should have spotted, multiple opportunities to identify henry, as a straw purchaser and drug addict, before officer fox was tragically killed. >> there were obvious indicators that this was a straw purchase and that the gun sold to heppry was headed for criminal hands. >> reporter: investigators determined that the gun dealer followed all federal and state requirement in the sales and did not violate the law. however, the lawsuit claims he should have done more. >> that gun store did sell that gun and that sale led to my husband's murder. >> reporter: gun shop owner in response said he and his attorney cannot comment because they have not had time to examine the suit yet, however, he told me as a former police office shore served two decades in law enforcement he has always run, in his words, i legitimate business. live from the sat center, walt hunter, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right walt, thank you.

seventh annual chuck cassidy scholarship golf tournament was held at torresdale frankford country club. it is held in honor of police officer chuck cassidy who was shot and killed on duty in october of 2007. his wife, judy was on hand today and making sure that the memory of her husband lives on. >> whenever your loved one is being honored that means so much. definitely you don't want people to ever forget. i know a lot of people have not forgotten chuck and it means a lot to us. >> reporter: well, tournament benefits chuck cassidy scholarship fun. it has been able to award 36 students with scholarships over the last six years. the primary election in delaware is now just one day away and candidates are making their final push for votes. republican candidates kevin wade are battling for u.s., senate nomination, winner will face chris coons in the november general election. in the race for state treasurer between republican
