new this morning a search is on for a driver in a hit and run accident overnight, and two women were seriously hurt in the crash. also this morning the hunt is still on for the shoot shore ambushed two state troopers, corporal brian dixon is kill, another trooper wounded, after the attack outside a state police barracks in northeastern pennsylvania. and it is final day of the susan g komen three day for a cure walkers get readied for last leg of their journey to fight breast cancer. today is sunday september 14th, i'm todd quinones. here's meteorologist carol erickson eyewitness weather, carol, good morning. >> good morning. we have pick up a lot of rain,

yesterday in dover. temperatures today, oh, boy by noon it is 64 degrees. by 3:00 p.m. 72 degrees. dew points are down in the 40's. air mass is dry, sun will be out, the wind light, just perfect. let's put this into motion and it shows us all the way through 2:00 and beyond i won't keep it running right new but and beyond we will be looking for some great weather. i think you will maybe want to take a picture of our seven day forecast, coming up, todd. carol, thank you. new this morning a hit and run accident is under investigation along the philadelphia waterfront. authorities tell us that two cars collided at delaware avenuer street have a after 2:00 a.m. two women in their 20's were taken to the hospital and both are in serious but stable condition. the driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene on foot. also new this morning the ramp to enter the walt whitman bridge from i-95 southbound is

closed right new due to an accident. a car crashed and rolled over on the highway just after 4:00. two people inside were rushed to the hospital, no word on their condition. a pennsylvania state trooper was also involve in a crash, overnight his patrol cruiser was struck by a car in the schuylkill expressway right here near montgomery avenue at 2:30 this morning. both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and the driver of the or car, is facing charges for driving under the influence. a deadly ambush right outside of a state police barracks in northeastern, pennsylvania. corporal brian dixon was kill, another trooper was critically wounded. authorities say they have questioned a person of interest but they stress that they do not have a suspect in custody. shooting happened in the remote town of blooming grove, pike county, 140 miles north of philadelphia. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has more on the investigation. >> reporter: state police

commissioner frank noonan described the the crime in no uncertain terms. >> this attack was an ambush, our troopers were leaving the barracks and were shot without warning and really had no chance to defend themselves. >> reporter: corporal brian dixon and trooper alex douglass were both struck just before 11:00 at blooming grove police barracks in pike county. douglass was taken to the hospital and in stable condition but corporal dixon was pronounced dead at the scene. >> it has touch us to the core that such a thing could happen. >> reporter: search immediately began for a suspect in the case. officials believe the the the shooter had left the rural area where shooter happened and search program store tears have been expanded. a person of interest has been questioned in the case but is not considered a suspect. in the meantime a word of caution for the public. >> we have a are dangerous, armed criminal that is already killed one pennsylvania state trooper and wounded another and that is not in custody. >> reporter: corporal dixon

graduated from the academy in 2007 and had transferred to the blooming grove barracks from a posting in philadelphia governor corbett spoke about him late saturday afternoon. >> corporal brian dixon object leaves behind two young boys and a wife and i cannot imagine the heartache that they are going through. >> reporter: yesterday governor corbett ordered flags to fly at half staff at the capitol and government build initial pike county, a $20,000 reward is being offered for any information, leading to at rest and convictions of a suspect in this case. of course, keep it right here on "eyewitness news" for particular coverage. you can get the latest anytime right at cbs philly.com. developing right now, officials are working to confirm the authenticity of a just released video that appears to show the execution of another hostage biasis militants. cbs news correspondent danielle nottingham tells us more about the victim british

aid worker david haines. >> reporter: video released on social media sat the day shows david haines, a 44 year-old aid worker from scotland on his knees with a masked man hovering over him with a knife. haines was kidnaped in northern syria last year as he delivered humanitarian aid. new video looks very much like the previous video showing the execution of two american journalist, james foley and steven sotoloff who were beheaded. in the video it appears that haines is following a script, he is denouncing british prime minister david cameron holding him responsible for his execution and following a trend of british prime ministers who can't fine the courage to say no to the americans. same masked man with the same accent appears in all three videos and like the two he threatens to kill another his stage. cameron called it despicable and appalling. he tweeted and released a statement saying the murder of

david haines is a act of pure evil and that his heart goes out to haines family who has shown courage and fortitude. cameron added we will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes. haines family has asked for privacy. danielle nottingham for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a student at all bright college in reading, berks county is kill in the house fire just off cam piss. nineteen year-old sophomore matt rain was from south river, new jersey and held a school report in swimming. the other student in the house at the time of the fire reportedly jumped to safety. two required medical attention. the fire was contained to the basement and there were working smoke detectors. it is unclear how that fire started. the search is on for a hit/run driver involved in the deadly crash in tioga. philadelphia police say a car hit a 16 year-old man crossing the street, right at 25th and

allegheny and kept going. this happened around midnight. the victim was then hit by a second car that pulled over. police later found the striking vehicle abandoned on the 3100 block of bainbury street. it is finishing day for those participating in the three day susan komen walk. this is the tenth year for the walk that has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for breast cancer research. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live at the pennsylvania convention center where walkers spent the night, syma? >> reporter: that is right, todd. they have spent the night here all weekend long. this is their last day of the three day event. right now with he me is first time walker, introduce yourself is what your name. >> nicole bianca. >> christian brown, kim lau. >> this is your first time participating in this event. what made you want to even try to do this? >> well, my aunt, kathy, her mom, my mom's identical twin sister passed away 11 years from breast cancer we had other families too but mostly

for her. we have been here to finish it up for them. >> reporter: turf ask you guys have have such a cute group name what is your name. >> girls gone miles. >> everybody on the back there. >> reporter: how has it been 60 miles in three days, so far you have covered 40, today will be the last 20. >> it is harder then you think. everything hurts from the waist down. your feet hurt. you have muscles thaw didn't know that you had, it hurts to walk to the bathroom. it is rough but you think about people go through more and those aches and pains aren't so big anymore. it is a reflective sort of time and comradery and hang out and bond. no one else has done it and you have, you feel pretty brave. >> reporter: hoy ask the weather has been quite different in the past couple taste. you have sun one day, rain the other what is it like to go through that different weather changes. >> it was sunny and warm and

a person on shore noticed one this distress and called police. the rescue boats found them and pulled them on board. they were not injured. a home owner in scottsdale, air zone gets the shock of his life when a coyote darts inside his home. after he called 911 he found the coyote asleep inside his fireplace. greg arghost reports. >> reporter: 7:00 a.m. thursday morning. jonathan ray allen and his dog. >> this is karma. >> reporter: are heading to work when he realizes he has a home intruder. >> i am trained with the weapon, so i pulled it out in casey did need to use it. >> reporter: he calls 911 to report the threat. >> making sure it wasn't an attack. >> reporter: that threat is 25-pound baby coyote was already fast asleep. >> once it had settled down, it settled down in the fireplace. >> unfortunately this little guy is acting like a pet.

>> reporter: jonathan wasn't taking any chances. >> i'm arm with the 9-millimeter. >> reporter: even with the help of his neighbor the scott, and some drums, unwanted house guest was not going anywhere. >> we were still calm but he didn't move. we tossed some things at it, didn't move. tossed it, hit it, it didn't move. >> reporter: it is not taking a nap, it is in rem sleep in, full on, 100 percent, i'm just going to bed, and, you know, i had a long night out, leave me alone. >> reporter: police arrived armed with the broom, still out cold. >> we're doing a fireplace rescue. >> reporter: until animal rescue gets here and was able to remove the little guy that was greg arghost reporting. animal tested negative for rabies and released in a less populated area.

well, we are in store for a great day and after yesterday's wash out, we have earned it, right. >> yes, i might not have, but everyone else d we got a lot more rain yesterday then that system should have been bringing us. we should have been seeing a tenth to a quarter of an inch. we have .4 of an inch instead yesterday. we have pick up, some good amounts of rain. we need sod rain. we're not going to be finding any for many days except maybe one little shot at another little chance of rain. otherwise what we're seeing here clear skies, beautiful conditions, that is what will be happening all week long. we are starting to brighten up in reading. 50 degrees right now. very cool morning. very cool, pleasant start to the day. storm scan three nothing going on. we don't have any clouds to track. anything you see out there should be leaving, if you even see a little bit of fog. temperatures today, start cool and they end absolutely perfect. we have 54 degrees in

philadelphia 51 in trenton. fifty in wilmington. forty-seven in the poconos. the in the 50's along the the shore. temperatures today will be getting anywhere from say 68 to about 72 or 3 degrees. just a really nice range. look at how cool, back to the west, we are finding even cooler temperatures tomorrow morning then what we're fining this morning. i'll seeing michigan 33 degrees. forty-four in chicago. cooler air is out there. komen three day we saw syma outlaid is waking up getting ready to go on their walk today. much better day. their shoes will be dry. eyes might not be as closing ceremonies when they finish this walk today but the ground will be dry today. 73 degrees. it is a beautiful day for that. we have temperatures in the 70's today, lower 70's, in the 70's on monday and then tuesday. maybe tuesday we will start to pick up at least a chance of picking up just maybe a very stray little shower in the morning. otherwise the rest of the week looks completely dry.

we will put this into motion and notice that we have this cloud and a spot or two and that is really the trend right through monday and then we will go on into the next model. thinks longer range. it does want to bring these rain showers in and decent shot of some rain. this is 3:00 in the morning on tuesday, and look at this by 5:00 o'clock in the morning on tuesday, maybe even heavier rain. we have learned by now, i'm sure, i know i have, we don't set our clocks by this and not even necessarily the amounts or the locations, it is just a trend that some rain is coming early on tuesday but leaving, and by the time we will get through the rest of tuesday we will get sunshine coming back and we have sunshine for days after that. so if for some reason you could not enjoy wet the tore day the way would you like to, there are other opportunities. seventy-three in philadelphia. shore 68 today. poconos 65 degrees. temperatures feeling a little cooler but feeling just absolutely wonderful. heading to the beach today you

up. walkers are lining up to start the last day of this susan g komen three day event. they are finishing up 60 miles. i'm syma chowdhry with the live report coming up. today is sunday september 14th, good morning everyone i'm todd quinones. here's meteorologist carol erickson with eyewitness weather. good morning, carol. >> a lot better today, todd, then it was yesterday when we had a few showers to put it mildly and we are looking at much better weather conditions today. we've got lots of sunshine. the lets go to the shore. ocean city boardwalk out running around, much better beach day to day then yesterday and take a look we have got a gorgeous sunrise down in cape may courthouse in middletown ship high school. 52 degrees. what a beautiful shot. lucky kids having a view like that standing on the roof somewhere. we have had storm scan three showing no clouds, no problems whatsoever. our weather wows were yesterday, today it is just going to be gorgeous and it is

not just today. we have a nice week coming up. our temperatures right now are cool, 47 in the poconos with wind northwest at 7 miles an hour, that is a drying direction so air feels so fresh. 54 degrees in philadelphia, wind north at six, and at the shore, 51 degrees and your wind are at 7 miles an hour. you can see the direction. the wind coming down and that is that drying direction and it is lovely here today. we should be right around 80 degrees in the afternoon and we won't be. sixty-four by noon. it is so nice out there. by 3:00 p.m. perfect weather, 72 degrees, incredibly comfortable. we will put this into motion. future weather. sometimes it does define for us. we are looking at to it day bringing in mostly sunny skies today. it is not just today. it looks like we have a very nice week coming up, with maybe one minor exception and i will show you that and what day that is coming up, todd? >> carol, thank you.

an ambush outside a state police barracks in northeastern pennsylvania, leaves one trooper dead and another critically wounded. authorities say they have questioned a person of interest but they stress they do not have a suspect in custody. corporal brian dixon, and trooper alex douglass were both struck just before 11:00 friday night at blooming grove police barracks in pike county. douglass was taken to the hospital and is stable but critical. but corporal dixon was pronounced dead at the scene. >> our troopers were leaving the barracks, and were shot, without warning and really had in chance to defend themselves. >> police believe the the shooter was looking to attack law enforcement, although, officials wouldn't say if the two troopers were specifically targeted. a $20,000 reward is being offered for any information, leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in this case. developing right now, officials are working to

after posting a $15,000.01. peterson is charged with child abuse after allegedly using a switch or a tree branch to spank his young child. >> a grand jury having tighted this case looked at injuries that were inflicted upon this child and determined that discipline was not reasonable and did not the reflect the community standard of what was reasonable discipline. >> reporter: peterson's arrest caps a difficult week for the nfl, still reeling from criticism of the handling of the ray rice domestic violence case. the league indefinitely suspended the baltimore ravens running back after a video surfaced showing rice striking his then fiance a in the elevator knocking her out. >> this is a nightmare for the nfl. it is darkest most embarrassing week of the history of the league. >> reporter: saturday afternoon rice and his wife made their first public appearance. they attended a high school football game at rice's alma math inner new york.

over with. 60 miles, we're talking about it here, with me is lynn, we met her yesterday. this is the seventh year you are doing it. last day of the seventh year. how is it going. >> going g the first day you got that adrenaline and goes very well. we didn't sleep well friday night at all so i was really tired yesterday. second day is your hardest. i don't know why but it is and rain didn't help any. legs are sore, all. that sunday you wake up, you have that adrenaline going. these 14 miles will be nothing. nothing. >> reporter: we have been seeing people coming in limping, they seem tired from this event. 60 miles is a lot. they have cover 40. do you kind of think about with the pain i'm going through and think about the pain that are dealing with breast cancer. >> yesterday, i probably could have stopped but knowing that i'm walking for certain people and what they are going through there was in way i was stopping. i will crawl.

everything is here. they are in the giving up. you walk through breaks, pairs, blisters and you will do it because we're not hurting nearly as bad as the other people. we will find a cure. we will find a cure. >> reporter: there is a little more than 1600 walkers here this weekend, is it nice to be surrounded by so many people who have have the same goal, they are going through the same thing and someone limping they help each other out. >> we help each other out. great big family. it is a big community. we are all here for the same reason. it is neat. you meet different people, friend. it is a great experience. emotional but great experience. >> reporter: when we talk yesterday you talk about how you hear about other peoples stories and you already have friend of people that you know that have gone through that. have you heard anymore interesting stories this weekend. >> this weekend is not. i don't know if the rain put a damper on everybody. i haven't heard stories. i sat down with a friend i walk with in tampa and we were both looking at each other we
