extremists. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, good morning. >> anne-marie, good morning. there is a sense, a dramatic escalation to the response on isis is imminent. another brutal ex-execution with a fourth. the plan now is a worldwide front to form to destroy the group. secretary of state john kerry and diplomats from around the world are in paris today to try to form a global strategy to defeat the islamic militant group isis. >> we have countries in this region, countries outside of this region, in addition to the united states, all of whom are prepared to engage in military assistance. >> british prime minister david cameron called an emergency meeting of his advisers on sunday after isis beheaded a british citizen and threaten another. >> they claim to do this in the name of islam. that is nonsense. islam is a religion of peace.

peninsula. it slammed near cabo san lucas. it's dangerous storm with sustained winds of 120 miles per hour. 30,000 tourists, most of them tourists, hunkered down. this morning two wildfires are burning out of control in california, the worst near bass lake, a popular recreation area, burned 21 buildings. about 21,000 residents evacuated. the courtney fire began about yesterday afternoon and burned 300 acres. further north a wildfire east of sacramento forced the evacuation of more than 130 homes. >> baltimore ravens running back ray rice will appeal his suspension over domestic violence. as bribe webb reports the rice case was just the start of a bad

in hawaii, hot lava from one of the world's most active volcanos is still getting closer to a subdivision on the big island. the lava from mt. kilauea advanced 150 yards since saturday. it is flowing underground and sometimes appearing above ground. residents in about 30 homes are preparing for evacuation if needed. and voters in scotland will decide this week if they will break away from the united kingdom to form their own independent country. scotland is about one-fourth of the uk, forms a third of the island of great britain and is home to a million people. mark phillips reports it could be a photo finish. >> reporter: what was once considered literally a pipe dream is now a possibility. scotlan

in philadelphia last year two lock-time high school football rivals were forced to come together. don dahler looks at how the players learned to put their differences aside. >> reporter: for 40 years martin luther king high and germantown high were archrivals. then last year a $304 million deficit forced philadelphia to merge the two schools. as seen in the documentary, "we could b king," what resulted was not pretty. he came from germantown. >> some people didn't already like some people and people wanted to play a lot. >> reporter: coach ed dunn's challenge, forging a football

team out of former enemies. in a city where 40% of the children live in poverty, dunn's other challenge was getting his players to believe life can get better. >> what football allows us to do is give these kids something to do that's positive, that's associated with school. >> reporter: with no money to maintain it, the practice field is mostly dirt. the locker room is a battered old trailer. and for part of last season, coach dunn worked for no pay. >> that's why we practice. yr yet after losing their first two games last year, dunn's passion began to pay off. they began to win. >> regardless of all the turmoil and trauma that comes in these kids' lives and everyone, these guys know they have each other and they depend on each other and that builds a family atmosphere. >> we had to prove a lot of people wrong this year. no one expected us to win.
