they shared their story of survival from the storm. >> entire area is completely devastated. no power lines, no cell service, nothing. >> hurricane odile hit their hotel. they've been stranded ever sin. they're struggling to get back home to philadelphia. >> we don't know how to go about getting on flight. >> we passed through the airport yesterday and it's completely inn accesinaccessible. >> there are thousands of people trig to get in. >> with no help from the us government. -- u.s. consulate at this time sit at the airport and wait for the hope. >> they're reaching out to eyewitness news hoping to grab the attention of local legislators. >> now the growing fear the people around here in a devastated area and they're lacking resources so it's entirely possible that we can become targets because we have money. >> for now they say they found shelter in a hotel four hours

away. it's not much, but until they can get home they say it will do. >> have a hotel with four walls and running water. >> we're luckier than lot of people. >> reporter: they tell us 30 thus san other americans are also stranded in mexico with them. most of them from the west coa coast. particularly from california but they did talk to a large group of people who are also stranded from the northeast and they too are in need of rescuing. we're life in the sat center noel mcclaren cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thatching noel. >> developing news tonight in intense manhunt continues in the poconos at this late hour for the suspected killer eric frein. frein today was added to the fbi's 10 most wanted list. he's accused of shooting two pennsylvania state troopers, killing one of them. >> by adding frein to the list, the fbi has increased the reward for his capture by $100,000 and expand their juries dick in his manhunt. >> we now have made the world

where he could hide a very, very small place. >> but investigators don't believe frein has traveled far. a self taught survivalist they suspect he's hiding in the woods where last friday corporal brian dixon and trooper alex douglas were ambush outside their state police barracks. some 200 law enforcement officers searching for frein by land and air. >> we're systematically taking away any opportunities for him for cover and concealment for any comfort in terms of cabins, camp sites those kinds of thin things, and systematically eliminating those areas as a possibility for him to be there. >> frein is believed to be carrying the 308 caliber rival used to kill corporal dixon and wound trooper douglas. he's expressed contempt for law enforcement in the past but agents say there's no indication he maps to target ordinary citizens. still his capture is a top priority. >> we can't let this fella get out of this area because we think he'd be a danger to other members of law enforcement as

well as society. >> as the search for frein continues, a funeral service was held in scranton for corporal dixon. 38 year old husband, father to two boys, and a former marine. while one of his sons wore his state trooper hat, his best friend corporal derek fels man delivered the eulogy. hundreds of law enforcers from around the world filling the church to pair think respects. >> it is only fitting for a man with the spirit of a warrior and the heart of a lion to be honored and recognized in the way that he will forever be remembered. rest in peace. >> the total reward for eric frein's capture is now at $175,000. the fbi is also set up a tip line for information and you can find that on our website cbsphilly.com. >> the nation is closely watching the philadelphia police dement's investigation into that violent attack on a same sex

couple. tonight there are calls for a federal investigation into that incident. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live at central detectives. what's new there tonight, matt. >> reporter: jessica, i can tell you that this investigation is on going and remains very active tonight. at least a half a dozen persons of interest have been questioned in this case so far. as police continue their investigation here at central detectives. it's been week since the crime that sparked outrage throughout the country. two gay men severely beaten one put in the hospital for three days. but thursday we learned there is another side to the story being told by some in this group. the dozen or so people police want to question in connection to the crime seen in this surveillance video just before it happened. at least six have been questioned so far. and some have said the victims instigated the fight. >> want to give you an opportunity. >> one person of interest came to central detectives wednesday to be interviewed about the attack. we have since learned that he was an assistant basketball

isn't meteorologist kathy orr is here with low down on the week and warmup. >> yes, low down tonight as well. we are talking about cold temperatures across the northeast. for us it will be cool. right now. not so bad. we do have clear skies and falling temperatures. to the north and west of philadelphia mainly in the 50's. poconos 51. philadelphia still holding on to 63 degrees. 63 in dover. but elsewhere through the south, we are looking at temperatures in the mid 50's. on storm scan3 you can still see a few showers and sprinkles down through delaware and eastern shore of maryland associated with a weak disturbance our front that moved through earlier but elsewhere skies are clear. that means the temperatures will be falling fast. during the early morning hours. no now this is were we'll wake up to. not saturday but friday. temperatures around 40 degrees in the poconos. also, allentown, reading lancaster. 50s along the i-95 corridor and a few 60s through central delaware and also through areas like wildwood and down the sho

shore. we are looking at conditions that will continue to be mild. right through the next couple of days but for tomorrow, it is still going to be cool. overnight partly cloudy and cool the low 56 during friday lots of sun, but feeling like october as temperatures struggle to reach 70 degrees. coming up we'll talk about the last weekend of summer and if it will really feel like it. that's in the seven day later in the broadcast. chris. >> kathy, see you then. thank you philadelphia city council votes to decriminalize marijuana and now all that's needed is the promised signature of mayor nutter. the vote was frein to two today. the mayor had previously expressed support for the bill explaining that it doesn't totally legalize marijuana, it just makes minor offenses civil penalties rather than criminal. it is slated to take effect october 20th. >> home depot now says 56 million credit cards were compromised in its recent data breach making it the second largest retail data theft oh and record.

the company says the malware that caused the breach has been removed from its system and new security enhancements are in place. that breach occurred between april and september of this year. home depot is now offering free identity protection services to any customer who shopped during that time. >> fear for the safety of children in his neighbor, one local man called police. but when that didn't solve the problem he called the cbs-3 i-team. say clear skies, light winds, comfortable out there right now. temperatures are falling. we have ahoy pressure system that's going to be moving in cooling things down come tomorrow morning. and by the afternoon, we'll warm it up to around 70 which is below average. saturday, temperatures will warm as cold front approaches from the northwest. it will be squeezing all of that moisture and i should say warm air up the coastal plane and front gets little bit closer we'll peak in temperature on sunday which is the last day of summer. we'll make it into the 80s. this front will be moving through sunday night and early monday as fall begins and we'll have few showers. but we'll start the clock off at midnight sunday during the early morning hours. the clouds move in sunday morning. but no rain. our computer system picking up a few showers through south jersey sunday afternoon. i think this is more the scenario. a line of showers some heavy rain moves through sunday night early monday. overnight we're looking at lows in the 50s and 40s. during friday lots of sun but
