good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. scotland will remain part of the united kingdom. scottish voters who turned out in record numbers easily rejected a number of referendum. british prime minister david cameron promised to gift the scots more power. alphonso van marsh is in london. good morning. >> reporter: good morn, anne-marie. as you mentioned, it was a close race but in tend scotland will not but a new independent nation. campaigners who fought to stop scotland from breaking away from the united kingdom declared victory. >> we have voted for unity. >> reporter: a majority of voters voted to reject the referendum that would have ended the 307-year partnership with the united kingdom.

war. >> even some lawmakers who vote yes thinks president obama needs do more to defeat isis, but the president has reiterated american combat troops will not be needed. >> he's in a public disagreement and argument with his own generals who say that you can't take troops off the table. >> reporter: the u.s. is continuing air strikes against iraq and president obama says international partners are stepping up. >> france will join in attacks against isil in iraq. >> isil continues its propaganda campaign this time showing british journalist john kently being held captive. the white house says training the moderate syrians to take on isis will take up to a year. anne-marie? in california a man is under arrest accused of deliberately setting a devastating wildfire.

wayne allen huntsman is scheduled to be arraigned today. he's being held on $10 million bail. the king fire burned more than 73,000 acres east of sacramento and forced nearly 3,000 people to evacuate. nick james of our affiliate reports. >> reporter: after dark, the glow of a fire that never sleeps lit up the el dorado hillside. compared to the 40,000-acre explosion last night. cooler temperatures helped limit the spread it's nice that we get to sleepeesier but we worry about our friends at that end. >> reporter: they're back home and beginning to feel some measure of relief. >> i think mother nature saved the pines. it started here and got pretty much that way the whole time. if it had gone over 50, i think the pines would have been gone. >> reporter: the fire was most active to the northeast near the

taho national forest but they're still fighting flare-ups. several outbuildings burned to the ground while other buildings were burned. peering through thick smoke along 50 she has no idea if her log cabin is still standing. >> we're pretty resigned to the fact. i mean how do you -- what else can you do? >> reporter: nothing but hope and wait. many evacuees worry what lies in store. >> we don't know what's going happen tonight. it could come back. the winds are shifting. this morning the police in florida are trying to explain the inexplicable. a man fatally shot his daughter and six of his grandchildren before taking his own live. 51-year-old don spirit, a convicted felon called 911

yesterday and said he might harm himself. police say he acted alone. the bodies including an infant were found in spirit's home 35 miles west of gainesville. police wouldn't say what type of gun was used. in pennsylvania police have blocked access to the home of the parents of a man wanted in the killing of a state trooper. a massive manhunt continues for eric frein. police say he's a self-taught survivalist who hates police. they believe he's hiding out in the forest. the fbi has put out a $100,000 reward on his head. marlie hall reports. >> reporter: the fbi has placed 31-year-old eric frein on its ten most wanted list. >> we have now made the world where he can hide a very, very small place. >> reporter: hundreds of officers in full camouflage and body armor are searching for frein in the dense woods of eastern pennsylvania. they say he ambushed and shot to death state trooper briyon dickson late friday in his

barracks. he wounded another. police say he belongs to a local simulation unit whose members play the role of eastern european soldiers. investigators say he's arm and trained in survivalist skills. they gathered in scranton for dickson's funeral. they lined the streets ten deep as dickson's flag h draped coffin made its way to the church. >> i promise you we'll carry on the fight of good versus evil, a fight you fought so courageously and selflessly until your last day on earth. >> reporter: frein is wanted by the federal government. the fbi is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to his capture. marlie hall, cbs news. coming up on the "morning

[ female announcer ] fiber one. here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. the busiest terminal at sky harbor international airport in phoenix was on lockdown for more than three hours. flights out of terminal four were grounded thursday. hundreds of law enforcement officer, some armed with assault rifles, looked for a shooting suspect believed to be hiding in a parking garage. now, the man was eventually taken into custody and the terminal was reopened. two other suspects were also arrested. passengers on a jetblue flight in california were terrified when trouble hit early in their trip. jeff pegues said the pilot took

quick action and turned around for an emergency landing. >> reporter: shortly after jetably flight 1416 took off from long beach airport, passengers say the right engine blew out. many of the 147 people on board heard a loud boom and saw smoke filling the captain. multilet passengers reported the flight attendants manually akty valted the oxygen masks. passenger eric dominic. >> you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. it engulfed the plane within seconds. >> reporter: the plane was headed over the southeast. it circled after minutes in the air. dean was a passenger. >> once we started coming in and got over land it was jarring all over the place and then people started to get really earth. >> reporter: actor jasper rathbone was there. he said i held my son and my

wife in my arms and then as the plane prepared to touch down we were told to brace as we careened sharply back toward lachbltd once the plane landed safely the passengers evacuated down the emergency slides. >> they've got people out. they're sliding out the back already. >> all right. they're going out. >> reporter: rathbone, his wife, and son, along with the other parliamentarians got off safely. one person was transported to the hospital and then released. authorities believe the pilot akty valted the fire extingui extinguisher from the cockpit and that may have put out the flames. jeff pegues, cbs news, washington. when we return, "thursday night football." one player claims a spot in nfl history. ♪

in sports "thursday night football" here on cbs, a meeting of nfc south foes take foes, t take on the buccaneers. >> this is not the match they wanted after starting the season 0-2. over the course of his career atlanta quarterback matt ryan has won 80% of the games he's played at the georgia dome and last night he improves his record. ryan get gets things going for if falcons in the first quarter. he throws two touchdown passes to give atlanta a 14-0 lead but night would belong to atlanta's devin hester. he scores on a 20 yard touchdown run and makes history.

hester brings back a punt 62 yards and steps into the end zone. the score would be 35-0 before halftime. atlanta has no problems in this one winning 56-14. the win improves the falcons' record to 2-1 while tampa bay sinks to 0-3. these two will get a chance to teen score in week ten when they meet again. for cbs news, megan alexander in atlanta. . we begin with breaking news this morning. huge flames as an inferno erupts at warehouse in kensington. look at what fire fight remembers dealing with right now. and at this point, we know at least one person is injured. this is all happening at the intersection of american and york.
