spots. jan? >> reporter: that's right, ukee there is fire is now under control. but it did a lot of damage, two firefighters suffered minor injuries, and one man was burned critically, burned to more than 80% of his body. meanwhile, this is what the scene looks like here, on the corner of american and york streets this morning. fire crews, remaining on scene, dousing this building with water, still this morning, and there is a lot of smoke, and in that smoke are two buildings, that are destroyed or badly damaged, and third that has some minor damage to the roof. now, take a look at this incredible video, this is what the fire looked like earlier this morning, as flames shot into the night sky. it broke out here, in kensington, around 2:30 in the 2400 block of american street. we're told the fire started in a vacant commercial building. the fire tore through that, and the building collapsed. then the fire spread to neighboring paper storage business. , with that fire load, the wind conditions, fire spread quickly became four alarm

fire. vacant builds something destroyed. the paper business, severely damaged, firefighters were table save the corner furniture business from severe damage because of big effort on the part of firefighters. take a listen. >> one of the the things we did do, establish a collapse zone early, in the fire, make sure everyone is out, and once woe get exterior attack. >> the smokes were hi, flames kind of big when i got here. it was crazy. >> now, 120 firefighters were on scene at the height of the fire, more than 30 pieces of equipment, we're told that civilian badly burned seen exiting the vacant building on fire again, we're told, he has once to more than 08% every his body. he's only been identified as is a 25 year old man, no other id at this point. again, critically injured, and taken to temple university hospital. back here, live on scene, you can see, fire fight remembers still busy, keeping an eye out for hot spots. as for the cause of this fire, at this point, that's

but there is will only continue to grow. 6:04, again, it will start to rev up. so watching us right now, i would anticipate by the time you get here, no matter where you are coming from, delays stemming back toward allegheny even moving down toward the betsy ross bridge. so we are starting to see little bit of the rush. take a look at the schuylkill expressway, no major delays in either direction. seventy-six looks pretty good this morning, if you are traveling on 476, 422, 202, all good news, we are still, however, dealing with that active fire location in the kensington section of philadelphia. so american street closed at york. if you can avoid this area at all costs i would do, that but front street would be your best alternate. no major problems for masses transit or at the airport. ukee? >> tour, thank youment pennsylvania state police have reopened roads in monroe county as the hunt continues for the man who killed a state trooper and wounded another. the fbi has added eric frein to ten most wanted fugitive lists. it is also offering up to $100,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction, that's in addition to the $75,000 reward from

crime stoppers. officials believe frein is hiding out not far from the crime screen using self-taught survival skills. >> i don't know where he is, we think he is here, we have reason to believe he is still in the area. but we want to make sure that we're covering every base. we can't let this fellow get out of this area, because we think he would be a danger to other members of law enforcement, as well as society. >> police are warning the public not to approach the suspect if he is seen, he is considered armed and dangerous. the fbi has set up a tip line for information, and you can find it on our website at cbsphilly.com. now, as the manhunt continues, pennsylvania state troopers said good-bye to corporate ryan dixon, governor tom corbett philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey and hundreds of law enforcement officers mourns with the dick sean's wife and their two young sons, dixon had served as a marine before his training, as is a state trooper. well, federal officials meantime keeping very close eye on the investigation into

the violent attack after same sex couple in center city. meantime, councilman jim kenny sent this letter to the u.s. attorneys office asking them to look into the case and prosecute it as a hate crime. investigators with the fbi reached out to philadelphia police, but say a decision to move forward hasn't been made. we ought to cover every base to make sure this was -- this did not happen, or if it did happen, that the federal government should take the case. investigators have questioned about six people from this group, seen in this surveillance video. some tell police the victims instigated the fight. so far, no charges have been filed in connection with last week's attack. well, series of domestic violence cases are still in the minds of many football fans, as the nfl kicks off another week. a lot of people are calling on the san francisco 49ers, to bench defensive ends, ray mcdonald, after he was accused of hitting his pregnant fiancee. so far not facing any charges. meanwhile cardinals running

hours, smoke could be seen for miles away. right out to jan carabeo at the scene, any word yet on what start that fire, or is it too early? >> ukee, that the tasha, still too early to determine a cause. the fire marshall is on scene, to do just that. what we do know, though, is that this fire started in a vacant commercial building, that you see, right behind me here, on american street. now, that we're getting little bit more light, you can see, what is left behind, only a shell of a building left. that commercial building, completely destroyed this morning, you can see, fire crews are continuing to dows the structure, with water, as they keep eye out on hot spots. now, in all, three people were injured in this fire, this morning, two firefighters suffered minor injuries, were taken to the hospital for sprains, injuries, like that, and a man, civilian, taken to the hospital, critically injured, suffering burns over 08% of his body. now take a look at this video, really is incredible. what the fire looked like earlier this morning, it broke out here, in kensington,

can see, a lot of smoke still billowing into the air, so you can smell smoke here in philadelphia this morning, of course, this is where it is coming from. as for that man, who suffered those critical burns, we're told he was taken to temple university hospital. no id on him yet. the only id is that he is a 25 year old man, and the fire commissioner told us that witnesses cents saw him come out of the burning structure, that vacant building, at the time of the fire. so no determination of cause just yet. but his is developing story, we will keep you up-to-date. for now live in kensington, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". well, more breaking news this morning, scotland won't have its own independence day, in a overnight historic vote, voters reject add proposal to break off from the united kingdom. results show the no side has about 55% of the vote, to 45% for the yes. voters turn out was a record 86%, for referendum that could have ended scotland's 307 year

second, because the talcony palmyra bridge is up. expect usual rush hour delays on 95 southbound between northeast and vine st. expressway, pockets on the schuylkill specifically around city avenue. >> the state of florida eight people are dead, after a grandfather opens fire on his family before killing himself. six of the victims are children, including a baby. as wendy gillette reports there is family has a history of tragedy. >> a florida community is looking for answers this morning, after a horrifying shooting. police say this man, 51 year old don spirit, shot and killed his 28 year old daughter and six of his grandchildren, before taking his own life. >> there are certain things in life talk explain. there are certain things you can't. this is not one that i can explain. >> the children range in the age from just under three months, to 11 years old. they were all killed inside spirit's home in the north florida town of bell. the gill crest county sheriff says spirit called 911 late yesterday afternoon and then shot himself after a deputy

arrived. >> we are asking for prayers for this community, the families involved. >> spirit had a lengthy criminal record, and officers had been called to the house before. in 2001 he shot his eight year old son to death, and what was determine to be a hunting accident. spirit's sister stayed her brother was dealing with lingering grief from that incident and health problems including diabetes. police say they had no indication spirit was capable of a crime like this one. wendy gillette, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and now authorities do believe they know what sparked this fast moving wild fire in california. police arrested this man, 37 year old wayne allen huntsman on suspicion of arson. investigators believe he ignited the king fire now burning 60 miles east of sacramento. he's being held on $10 million bail. so far the wild fire has scorched 71,000 acres of land. and, a frightening ordeal for passengers on board jet blue airline flight. the cabin filled with smoke

after the flight experienced some engine problems. shortly after take off from long beach airport in california. quickly returned, made an emergency landing, and passengers exited the airbus a320, on the slides. >> my wife was right next to me, going on vacation, she held me, she was crying, i was like, well, here we go. >> well, among those on the flight, twilight actor jackson ratbone, he is okay, so are the only passengers and five crew members. >> there is concern this morning over the safety of american stranded in mexico by hurricane odile. vacationers from philadelphia who went to cabo san lucas stuck there amid the chaos and confusion. it was far from the vacation they planned. their exclusive communication via skype to "eyewitness news" was the first touch with the outside world since odile hit their hotel monday. they are hoping us law make kearse help out. >> now the growing fear is people around here are in a devestated area, and they're lacking resources, so it is

entirely possible that we could become targets because we have money. >> now they have found shelter in hotel some four hours from cabo. airports are jammed or inaccessible. >> philadelphia city council votes to decriminalize marijuana. now all that's needed is the mayor's signature. the vote was 14 to two, nutter previously expressed support for the bill, explaining it doesn't legalize marijuana. it just makes minor offenses civil penalties instead. it is slate today take effect on october 20th. and philadelphia city hall is going green, to save some green. you probably won't notice it from the outside, but the city switching to energy efficient led lights, in the clock tower. the current light bulbs have to be replaced every six to nine months, and the new ones should last ten years each. the change will save the city about $10,000 a year, in electricity, plus another 30 mud in labor and materials. well, happening right now,
