will get out of here. lets start off with carol erickson out identify in that rain. she wants to let us necessity how we're going, good morning, carol. >> we're in the used to rain around here. we have had a dry summer. we are making up for it today. we have been seeing the rain. we are in hammington right now see the the sign post behind me but if you know this stretch of 206 that went through hammington and on the way to the atlantic city expressway you know exactly where i am. it is rain that is difference. lots of puddles that is slowing this morning, commute, and closer you get to the beach, closer to the storm that is worst it will be happening. let's show you a graphic, you'll fine some rainfall totals that are impressive. this was supposed to be a great, dry week and until, this thing popped up and that has changed everything. down in rehoboth beach, we have seen over an inch, 1.17 inches, atlantic city over a half inch of rain, toms
5:01 am
river about a half inch of rain, in wilmington, .24 and in philadelphia just .18 of an inch of rain. it depend on where you are and obviously you can tell by that graphic and the numbers on it, the the closer to the shore the more rain you are finding. we are seeing it coming down because we're in atlantic county. we're 40 minutes, depending on how fast you drive to the shore, and it is coming down, wind are, starting to pick up, american flag at this gas station are wet from the rain. it is heart to blow as much as they would

as we look the at what you want to get out the door and get to your destination, safely, let's discuss the elephant in the room, soaking rain, it is waiting for bus and train in this weather and traveling, you will get slowed down. it is just a given dealing with rainfall intensity as we put things in motion at this rate. when you zoom it out there is not too much coming up on the heels of this. so we did expect that the bulk of the storm would be coming through right now, the core of the area of low pressure passing through. we will get moisture fed in as day goes on and i do think you're generally talking about an entire day's worth of rain but it is going to taper off
5:03 am
in terms of the rain and wind as time progresses. looking at current wind speeds and win direction says it all, a chilly northeasterly breeze and it is coming in stiff right new in atlantic city and wildwood at this point. we have sustained winds. these are sustained wind speeds 20 to 24, 25 miles an hour. morning drive is obviously less than east deal, both commutes are affect here but, generally morning drive that has the the biggest impact because of the heavier rain, gusty wind, in philadelphia, those wind could pike as high as 35 miles an hour through your classic morning rush hour, by 5:00 to 9:00 a.m. reduced visibility is still a concern. slow travel ponding, you bet you. there are in flash flood warnings or advisories, nothing like that in store. hopefully it will stay that way. we are dealing with the worse of it as we speak. expect temperatures to stay on the lower side too. we will get you in the mid to upper 60's. with the wind and rain it will feel even cooler. you need jacket.
5:04 am
you will need that rain gear, vittoria, handful today. >> i was thinking of course it is right in the rush. right there good less than ideal timing obviously. >> come on really, i know. what are you going to do? if you are traveling out and about best thing to do katie put it so great watch for that ponding and low visibility, watch for slick spots in the roadway and lets get you outside to see how you are doing on the roads. specifically schuylkill expressway. seventy-six east and westbound in the too much of a problem volume wise. you will hear me repeat that a lot until we approach 6:30, i would say 6:15 when we see that rush coming in. as of right now 76 is a breeze. not too far from center city shot here at spring garden but even within your western suburbs. the best thing to watch out for are slick spots to see on the ben franklin bridge. best thing you can do is tea your time and practice extra caution. no problems on the any of the bridges they are all looking great. looking at our speed sensors they are all looking good. fifty-five is your average on
